Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Southern outskirts of DC...

Allerio had a different approach with his ...attack paterns. This time he seduced the daughters of seven crime bosses and gave them a so-called gift. Each of them received a jewellery box which had a hidden effect. 5 hours after it is opened the first time it will give off a sleeping gas. Of course all of the daughters were at their respective homes, and their homes where of course the bases of the various mafia gangs. While everyone was asleep because of the powder, Allerio was somewhere else on a skyscrapper again. But this time he was looking at a group of vampires and ghouls at west and a group of harpies at est. He quickly and accurately shot a few arrows to hit the vampires in the heart and the ghouls in the head. After he killed them he turned to the harpies and launched arrows at them too. The whole process took a few seconds. Up until this point: 5 dead vampires, 10 dead ghouls and 6 dead harpies.

Of course Allerio didn't stop there. The jewlery boxes didn't just contain sleeping gas, they were actual remote mana bombs which upon activation would release esoteric fire which burns everything without living ashes behind. He learned how to do those from some dark elves a long time ago. He had a special scroll on him and by drawing a certain runic diagram on it he could create the ''remote control'' for the bombs. The scroll and incantation were ready, he just touched the scroll and filled it with some mana. That was what activated the seven bombs at the same time. The esoteric explosions produces shockwaves and were very big so most of them could be seen from anywhere in Washington. The esoteric fire burned every mafia base and everyone inside them without leaving a single ash.

Apart from the vampires, ghouls and harpies around 700 humans died that day. Of course for Allerio they were nothing more than worthless criminals. He jumped from the skysrapper and flew for a while using wind magic until he reached his hideout. From there he returned to his flat in the city center.

(I don't have time for this now, as I'm going to sleep but I'll reply tomorrow)

William was quickly interrupted from his drinking of scotch as he heard a loud explosion, quickly followed by others and others. The whole bar shook violently and several bottles began to drop from the counter on the floor, shattering in millions of pieces. The guys stopped their argument and everybody fell silent. Grabbing his coat, Will rushed outside only to be greeted by the sight of multiple burning fires in multiple places in town, all noticeable. He knew what was burning. The mafia hideouts. At least some of which he knew, but seeing so many burn, he figured the others must have caught fire too. No. Not caught fire. Somebody was behind this. Somebody who would do this act of vigilantism without caring for other people that get caught in the crossfire. The Archer.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, in an internet cafe, a hooded man was working his way on a computer, typing rapidly, sipping coffee and delighting himself on a ocassional donut for time to time. Justin was busy doing his job. His unofficial job that was. Robbing rich scums of their accounts and donating to the least fortunate seemed a honorable thing for him to do. He was a Robin Hood of the internet. Only with heavenly heritage at that. And without a bow. As he finished his work, he got up, paid the internet cafe owner, and went out of the cafe into the cold night, still holding his coffee tight. The night was cool, and the air frolicked upon his blond scruffy little beard. Pleased of himself he continued down the sidewalk.

Then it happened. Another ''episode'' as he liked to call them. As a Nephilim, he had many cool powers like flight or top speed, but this power he loathed. Premonitions. It ussualy starts with a terrible headache, then is followed by quick flashes of visions, which half of the time he doesn't even understand. Some show the past, others the future, and others even show him what's happening at the current time elsewhere. This time was all the same. His vision got blurry, then the premonition came. In his mind's eye, he saw people screaming, burning, ripped by a fire that could not be extinguished. He saw pain, agony, and... people getting pierced by arrows. It was all quick and it ended leaving him curled up on the sidewalk.

Moments later, the explosions happened....Just like in his visions. Pain. Agony. And a vigilante to rule them all.....

(Sorry for the length of the post but I had to introduce Justin and give a little insight of what his premonition power is like. We'll see how we fit him in the story. Nighty night!)

Scath had opened his mouth to say something, but quickly forgot about it when the explosions shook the city. Running on instinct, Scath moved in front of Lilliana, curling his tail around her slightly as he lowered himself into a defensive posture. It wasn't until the shock wave stopped that Scath realized the position he was in. Slowly standing straight, and uncurling his tail from around her, he turned to Lilliana. "I...sorry..about that." Scath watched as Will ran out of the bar. The more he thought about it, the more Scath realized that he needed to do something. "We need to help them.", he finally said as he looked back at Lilliana, almost searching her face for approval. What was coming over him? He had only known this Valkyrie a short time, but something about her had struck a cord with him.

(Thats about the best I had)

Upon hearing the explosions, Greyston was immediately on his phone to coordinate activities. His phone was a flurry of activity, and he knew exactly who would do something like this. The vigilante's attacks had started getting more and more violent, now who knows how many innocent lives he had just taken. Waiting was wrong, that was something he should have taken care of sooner. He heard what Liliana said and turned to them. "Can you two help? We're searching for an elf, blonde, sexy, you'll know him if you see him."

When Scath wrapped his tail around her, the look he found on Lilianna's face was far from one of approval. "I'm not made of glass, I can handle myself." She said. It sounded harsh, but compared to the beating the last man who tried 'protecting' her recieved, or the telling off that many others had gotten, it was really a fairly easy going one. "But you're right, we should do something... someone should get the fires taken care of, look for survivors, that kind of thing." She said. Hearing the man's response, Liliana nodded, and glanced at Scath, "We could..."

Zhaine, meanwhile, had been meeting with a friend of his from the modeling agency, they went back to Jeremy's- another friend- father's house for small party he was throwing. The man was money, and the house was amazing, the kind that Zhaine thought only existed on TV. There were rumors, of course, that Jeremy's father had attained his wealth through illegal means, but from what Zhaine could tell they were only rumors. The guy seemed nice enough to him, anyway. Zhaine was in the middle of trying to hook up the friend he came with and Jeremy's sister, but she seemed fixated by some guy she had met before. She she was showing off a trinket that she had been given, when a gas started to fill the room. Zhaine remembered coughing and reaching for water when he fell to the floor, seeing several others passing out. He managed to hold on just long enough to touch the woman, and see her future: Fire and death. He knew that was all there was left when the bomb detonated.

Slowly, Will entered the bar once again to find every one in comotion. Scath and Liliana were talking about something, Corin was giving phone calls and the other dudes stopped their fighting. ''The archer is behind this'' he told them. ''We must stop him before he kills again''

Justin sighed as he picked himself up from the sidewalk. People were running left and right, scared by the sound of the explosions. The fire glowed brightly in the dark night, spraying light everywhere. Pulling his phone out, he texted Zhaine: ''Have you seen what happened? Call me back''

Tucking his phone back in his pocket, he wondered the streets, looking to get back to his apartment. Unfortunately, that was near one of the explosions site, so he couldn't get home yet. Instead he wandered the streets looking for a place to tuck in until the fire stopped.

Explosions, huh? The vigilante strikes again.

Luke was flying invisible through the city when he heard them. They came from the outside, and he could see them from where he was.

It took quite some time to get there, but not too long. There was fire burning at all these different places. He didn't even know where to start. The place stunk of magic. After some thought, he started with public safety. That was the highest priority on the normal police force's list.

He shot a text to William and Corin "At the scene. It's crazy. I swear the sky is falling over here. Saving lives comes first, right?"

He summoned a Hydro Bot, and, ignoring the fires, flew around, invisibility module turned off, putting out the people who were on fire. He then landed in the city streets with people running. "Head towards downtown!" He yelled at them, pulling off his hood. He summoned another one and felt a strain on his body. He's over his max. 2x invisibility modules, Scanbot, Hoverboard, and now a second Hydro Bot. He dropped the Hoverboard and the Invisibility modules. It hit him hard though. He was tired and could barely move. His body wasn't made for any sort of strain. He brought back the hoverboard and sat on it as he flew, bone-tired. The hydro bots continued their work, and Luke continued evacuating the people.

Greyston texted Luke back, 'Yes, it does. Save lives, rescue then put out- or both if you can. I'm heading that way but I'm not sure how much good I'll be. I'm sick of all of this fire crap.' He turned back to Will, then to Scath and Liliana. "Yes, we do. Help if you're going to, I have to get to at least one of the scenes to see what exactly we are dealing with. We find who's behind the attack and we lock him up. If we're lucky, he'll fight back and there won't be someone to lock up anymore." He turned and left, hailing a cab and taking it out to one of the other crime scenes. He made a few calls to some other agents with water abilities and fire affinities and sent them to various scenes. When the fire elemental arrived before the fire department, Greyston told him to go search for survivors, and see if he could control the fire.

Liliana sighed, 'Why are people such idiots?' She wondered. She knew she could be useful if this was a battle scene, but not certain if terrorist attack counted as a battle, but she supposed she'd find out when she got there. "Are you coming or no?" She asked the dragon man, turning to look at him.

William nodded to Greyston's words, then got out and got in his van. He knew each of the others would go somewhere, and do something. He had to get to one of the other fire scenes. Corin already called in help, so they would probably be waiting at every explosion scene. Driving quickly, he arrived at one of the scenes. People were stumbling everywhere, running amock, dodging falling debris, but others were caught under it. Everywhere you could hear screams, men and women burning alive or wailing under the crushing weight of fallen hubris. Looking around, he noticed a fire hydrant. Kicking it, he manipulated the water inside and chanelled it at the fire that was still burning. The presurre of the water was huge, but the fire still didn't seem to weaken much. Grunting, William continued chanelling, while shouting to the other people to run from this place. Soon a couple of water elementals joined him and they all started watering....

Justin just reached a backalley, looking for some hiding place, when he saw a mysterious man flying around extinguishing the fire, and helping people. (@Kylesar1 ). Something popped in his mind. Many of these people were normal humans, and they still showed courage, even in front of this fire. He was a Nephilim. If anything, he could aswell help the people of DC to extinguish this wretched fire. Turning around, he downed his hoodie, and ventured into the crowded street looking for people who needed help. He soon spotted a man crying in pain, as a huge piece of a building stood over his body crushing him. Activating his top speed, Justin reached the man in seconds, and lifted the rock using his huge strength. The man thanked him in tears, then scuttled away, getting away from the fire. Justin felt awfully good, doing this. He was helping people. Kinda like he was doing back on the internet. Laughing to himself, he rushed in other places, to help others.

Allerio knew people would be near the explosion site so he made them levitate with wind magic and went from one site to another at high speed , eventually healing everyone who had small wounds. He wasted quite some mana but he made sure to help people from the shadows without them noticing him. He wasn't wearing his costume.

Members of the Department probably saw a tall and fast figure running around and saving people but the ony thing they could probably distinguish was his blonde hair. He made people levitate and moved them with the winds or stopped rubble from falling on them. Some people were slightly injured or burned so he healed them.

Afterwards he went to the back of a building and started meditating to regenerate his lost mana faster.

(I really like his game, he is harsh and vigilantist, but knows how to cover himself well. Cheers for your character Azure)

Justin was still hepling people left and right, when he saw the shadow with blonde hair, running around in dashes, saving people better than he could. Another man or creature probably looking for out for the injured. The Department probably sent him/her, as the figure seemed supernatural. It moved with gracious speed, he was tall and slim, and wouldn't make himself seen. Justin was curious as to what the figure was. A wind/air elemental, a warlock? Maybe some augumented human with wind-tech? He seemed to handle the fruits of the wind quite well. But soon he didn't see the figure no more.

Justin looked ahead looking for other people in peril, but the mystery benefactor seemed to have got all the people from the area. Up ahead a few Department agents were spraying water on the burning fire, and in other parts he could already see the humoungous fish-like creatures, that the Department used to extinguish fire. The commotion seemed to be getting to an end and the one who set the explosion was nowhere to be seen.

Who knew what could be next?

Luke was flying around helping evacuate when he saw people levitate. That many people didn't have magic like that. "Quick! Scanbot: Scan!" The people became illuminated in silver residue symbolizing Wind Magic. The hue on the inside was greenish. An elf. Was it the Perp? "Trace!" The wind magic all formed lines, then converged. It started heading in the direction of the scenes.

Luke followed the lines, with the Hydro Bot still putting out the flames of the people. It got easier after the Fire Department finally decided to get off their asses and help out. The lines all connected to a blonde guy running around saving people. He used wind magic, but one didn't have to take it as a primary to levitate people. If it were the perp, Luke could end it all right now with an arrest. The riot would be dealt with later. However, things were too circumstantial. They didn't have a solid case. If he fucked things up, Double Jeopardy would let a murderer run free forever. Luke decided not to take any risks with the mystery guy. He left the guy alone.

The fires were done now. Luke dropped the Hydro Bots and turned to Heal Bots. He then started to heal more injured people

Scath nodded to Lilliana before joining her as they ran out to join the Department personnel. They arrived shortly thereafter at the location where Greyston had sent the fire elemental to search for survivors. Scath looked around, trying to gauge the extent of the damage. He turned towards Greyston with an idea. "If Lilliana and I can get air born we would be able to double our sight range, we might be able to find the monster that did this and still be able to spot survivors."

William sighed as he stood across the rubble formed from the fire. Eventually, they were able to extinguish the fire and save a few lives aswell, that have been trapped in the burning mafia hideout, probably being there at the wrong place, wrong time. Waving to the water elementals, he went off. His work was done here, and there were probably other people that were still in peril. Somebody had to save them. Entering some secluded alleys to reach the other site faster, he stumbled across a bloody corpse of a young man. His head seemed to have been bashed in by a fallen debris rock, and his body was covered in the sickly red aroma of the blood. William's eyes fluttered over the corpse, and that old sensation he got sometimes started burning inside him. There was no one here, and the blood and body suddenly were looking so delicious...If only he could get a bite...

Reaching down, he smeared his hand in the blood of the victim and glared at it curiously. All of his instincts were telling him to do it. But he knew better. He knew that if he wanted this fresh start to work, he had to refrain himself. Grabbing the body with some tentacles extended from his back, he threw the cadaver in an nearby trash box and continued forward.

Old insticts still fought to get a hold of him, but he must resist them. He must be a human. For now.

Greyston nodded, and motioned for them to go take to the air and do as they will. He noticed something very very fast running by, but as he too processed the world much more quickly at night, he was able to get a better look. Clearly the man was helping people, but was he cleaning up someone else's mess? Or his own mess? Corin had gotten a good enough look at his face to I.D. the man if need be, but did not see the need to chase him for answers just yet. If he too is preoccupied with saving lives, let him be. Lives come first. Always.

Corin continued his coordination of relief efforts. Ever since he got promoted to head it seemed like coordination was all he did. He was glad the sun was down, now, though. That meant that he was not exhausted. Once everyone had their orders, he moved to help get people where they needed to go, carrying the injured back and forth and moving rubble to search for survivors. As he did he realized just how hot the fire burned, it seemed that it left very little in it's wake.
Where have I seen this before? He wondered to himself, then he remembered: 'Elves.'

Lilianna nodded, agreeing with Scath's assessment.
"Plus I can can... err.. do my part. And my vision is better than a human's anyway." She told Greyston and Scath. She was not overly happy with him at the morning, but she could tell that evidently yes, terrorist attacks count as battles to her abilities. She waited for Scath to transform and once he did she climbed onto his back, waiting to take off.

Scath rose effortlessly into the air above what used to be a building. He circled around the site slowly, letting all of his senses adapt to situation. He hadn't seen anything clearly, but he wasn't just searching the "seen" realm either. Shifting his focus, Scath could "see" traces of mana scattered about the crime scene. "I'm seeing a lot of mana traces in the rubble.", he reported.

(Boop, sending in a person.)

Piper stared at the scene, blowing air through her bangs. What a mess. She looked around, trying to decide exactly where to start, then she headed toward the rubble to look for potential survivors.

Justin curiously examined the streets, that in the aftermath, were almost empty. Here and there, some people were still struggling to their feet, but everyone else seemed to have either ran away or scuttled off to their homes. As he glanced around, he noticed a Tv-shop's window broken. Typical, he thought, some explosions start up and some low-life probably took it as the apocalypse and stole TV's. It was quite comical really. Something you only get to see in movies. Suddenly, a shadow flew over him, and as he glanced through the skies, he saw the most badass looking creature of all: a dragon, flying in all of it's majesty. A thought briefly flickered through Justin's mind. The explosions were made of fire that kept burning, he heard. What if the dragon torched the buildings and was now bolting for an escape. It may be true, and the Department could certainly consider him, if he would catch a culprit dragon.

Activating his Nephilim state, his eyes began to glow a sicklish grey, a colour that would have been pure white, if he was a pure angel. But sadly he was a mud-blood, a disgrace to both Heaven and Earth. He didn't have wings either, but he could still kinda fly. It was something he had been practicing on and he was getting better at it. As he leapt off the ground, he started to slowly sore into the night, on the trail of the dragon. He was gaining momentum, and soon he could see the winged creature again, yet this time he saw he had a person on back. The two of them might be involved, he thought as he propulsed towards them, getting closer and closer.

@KattRai

"Scath, there's someone approaching. It looks like... a... Angel? No, maybe a halfling then, or something similar." She said, warning the dragon of a potential incoming attack. She had been busily choosing the strings of fate, she tried to keep the fatalities to the elderly, or the already injured, so that the young and healthy may live longer lives yet. There was, however, only so much she could do. She tried to select the best of them for a good afterlife, but she could only pick half, as is a Valkyrie's duty. She didn't realize how difficult this job was on her own. The last time she had flown over a battlefield and determined the out come of the battle was many years ago, WWII, and then she had many others to help her.

@Elias @BookWyrm

Greston realized that was in fact where he had seen that type of magic before, and realized that the man who ran through was an elf. Cleaning up his own mess, then. Greyston decided. He used his own speed to take off after the man. It was rare to see elves around here, anyway. Call it stereotyping, but Greyston felt pretty safe bringing him in to at least question. "Excuse me, sir. I'm with the Department of Defense against the Supernatural, blah, blah, blah. I need you to stop!" He called after Allerio. "I need to ask you a few questions, see if you could help us identify who did this?"

@Azure Sky

(Quick poll who thinks it would be 100% unlikely that Zhaine is savable due to his close proximity to the explosive? I'm trying to decide if he is dead or not. He probably is though, he was touching the woman holding the jewelry box.)

(Imma just say it, kill him)

Scath craned his neck around to look behind him. And, much to his curiosity, there was something approaching. Scath tried to focus, but finally turned his head back around to keep track of his position. "Whatever it is, it doesn't fly very well." Scath dipped his body to the left some, gaining momentum before turning in a circle to face the oncoming being. He adjusted his body, letting his hind quarters drop some as he hovered in place. Scath let out a deep growl, snarling as smoke began to waft out from between his teeth. Sure, it might be slightly overkill since neither he nor Lilliana knew the begins intentions, but to for one to approach a Dragon unannounced in the old days was the same as an alchemist drinking his own acid or a vampire to step into the sun. "Hold your ground and announce your intentions, or face fire and death. Your choice.", Scath hissed.

Not the most intimidating threat, but earnest all the same, he thought to himself.

@KattRai

Justin halted to a stop and hovered to a stop infront of the dragon. Only now he began to regret his decision. The dragon looked way more scary up front, smoke bellowing between his teeth, his voice sounding like thunder. He was going to get scorched to death, Justin thought. Maintaining his flight, he looked the dragon straight in the eyes, his own gray eyes glowing wildly. '' I am sorry, dragon. I should not have rushed so quickly on your trail, but I need to know'' he said then pointed to fiery hell that scowled between them. ''Did you do this? Did you unleash your flame upon these mortal men?''

Scath let out a short stream of flame high enough above Justin's head that it wouldn't scorch him, let alone burn him, but it was close enough to send a message. "You have some gall to look me in the eyes. Know your place half-breed!", Scath growled. He had picked up the scent earlier, but when Justin had look him in the eyes Scath had noticed the off color iris, a sign of a half-breed. A Nephilim, one of the more unusual half-breeds. "Now," he began, finally having calmed down some, "to answer your question, no, that is not my doing. If you had half the knowledge your heavenly heritage provided, you'd know that my kind swore an oath to protect man, not destroy them."

@KattRai

Liliana watched the interaction from her place on the dragon's back. She had met angels before- they often came to speak with her peoples about their work. All of the coordination between who goes where when they die was very messy, sometimes it was based on what the deceased believed, other times it was based on their heritage, other times still it was based on where their loved ones went- if they were deemed worthy enough to spend eternity together. All of that aside, she hadn't ever met a Nephilim. She'd heard of them, though. "Don't be harsh on him, Scath, I think he is just trying to help, misguided though he may be." She said aloud to the dragon.

''The Valkyrie is right'' Justin said as he hovered above looking at Scath harshly. The fact that the dragon made him a half-blood annoyed him because it reminded him yet again, that he isn't neither human nor angel. Just a frankensteinic half of both. A freak. '' I was merely trying to find out what is happening.... As for my heritage. Don't pretend that you know me, dragon. You don't know what is like to be a freak, not accepted neither in Heaven nor on Earth. Angels despise me. I am my father's shame. Some angels even tried to assasinate me before'' he said as he regarded the dragon even more couldly, gazing into his eyes, his own glowing even grayer. ''The fact that I was misguided can happen to you or anyone else'' he said.

''Something I still don't understand. What do a dragon and a valkyrie doing here, just happening to fly above an explosion site?''

@KattRai

William got in his van and drove around the perimeter. He noticed that most of the people escaped, so those weren't the Department's problem anymore. They would probably rush to some nearby hospitals, voodoo priests or healers. He drove fastly, doing a circling of the crime scenes. Yes. Almost everyone managed to escape, except for a few others who got caught under rubble or burned alive. Glancing up, he saw Scath and Liliana flying swiftly across the sky, and on their tail, a shadowy figure, vaguely seen flying after them. Who could that be? He wondered then drove away further. Getting his phone he texted Corin to find out what he should do next. @KattRai

"We are searching for someone." Liliana said, she did not feel she needed to explain too thoroughly to this kid, though she figured she maybe oughtn't be too harsh towards him. Though she found his story demanding pity irritating, she understood the pains of heritage problems. She did not have them herself, but her people valued family above most everything else. Not really family as much as Ancestry, though. She personally could tell you every single one of her ancestors in order clear back to forgotten times. "Also, I am playing my part, as a Valkyrie over a battle scene always does." She added.

(Greyston will not be answering his phone as he is still chasing Allerio, waiting for a response, it would be a little strange to text back now. @Azure Sky )

As Will drove, the radio did some strange things, turning on by itself and changing stations rapidly. It stopped at what seemed to be playing the beginning of Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb'

"Hello,

Is there anybody in there?

Just nod if you can hear me."

After that line it cut off suddenly, and did not start again, as though it was waiting on a response.

Will was driving when the popular music of Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb started playing on the radio. Will decided to listen. He liked music, it was something he never got to hear as a Leviathan and only recently he found out the relaxing joy of listening to tunes. But then he found it odd, when the radio suddenly cut after the first three lines. It was almost as if, it was waiting for an answer. ''What the hell'' he said as he tapped the raddio slightly. It didn't seem to be defect but something was definitely not right here. Halting to a stop, he eyed the radio for a while, then nodded slightly and said awkardly. ''Hello, radio'' Laying back, he waited for an answer, if one would come. @KattRai

Justin's figure softened as he realised that afterall, the dragon and the valkyrie weren't involved in this. She was doing her job and the drake was probably helping her. For all he could know they could be part of the Department. Bowing his head in sign of respect in front of the dragon and the valkyrie he talked with a more resented tone, his eyes regaining their natural colour of pale grayish-blue. '' I am sorry both of you. I did not mean to interfere with your plans or shout at you. I just get a little carried away sometimes'' he said as he hovered. ''Perhaps we can forget this and work together for a higher purpose? I have been helping people down the street but from up in the air, I see that I could be of help. I could point out targets for you valkyrie'' he said as he watched both of them with a curious look. @BookWyrm @KattRai
