Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

William checked his phone and replied to Luke: ''I understand. We must approach this carefully. One wrong move and we could have a riot on our hands. One shouldn't remove another's idol, if they want to keep their head'' he replied as he texted. ''Consult with Greyston on this one. He may know how to approach this.'' @KattRai

On the outskirts of Detroit, a portal opens up and releases a large swarm of disease carrying flies.

''Good'' William said as he smiled aswell, and headed along the woman to the pool table. Grabbing the (pool stick?) he gave Liliana a look, maybe wondering if she was going to be a good competitor. He was quite new at all of this, but not at pool. He played pool before, and he liked it. ''Eh, what the hell'' he said as he pulled out some money. ''Why don't we make this more interesting?'' he said as he placed 100 dollars on the pool table. ''Winner gets all'' he said as he eyed her. ''And you get to tell me your name'' @KattRai

"A name for a name" Liliana said, placing $100 of her own on the table, "And I'm always up to make some cash," She said, sounding confident. She grabbed a cue for herself and set up the table for a fresh game. "You play much before?" She asked, trying to get a read on the man. She could tell he wasn't human, he seemed to old for that, but what exactly he was she couldn't tell. Maybe something from the sea? Maybe not, she wasn't certain. What she did know was that he was strong, unnaturally so.

'Fair enough...'' he said ''And yes. Pool is something I play on a regulary basis'' he said, while also studying the woman, trying to figure what she was aswell. She wasn't human, that was for sure. She was something new, something he didn't encounter before. That intrigued him.

''Well then'' he said. ''Let's begin then'' he said as he prompted her to start. @KattRai

She nodded, and broke for the game (That about exhausts my knowledge of pool, apart from taking shots back and forth!). "Liliana, that's my name, I mean, this time around. Yours?" She asked, moving aside for the man to take a shot of his own.

William moved and prepared for his shot. While looking at the table and deciding different strategies to down the balls, he replied. ''Nice to meet you, Liliana. For now, I am William. My real name is something I didn't use in quite a while and it's way too hard to pronounce anyway'' he said as he took his shot, scoring two strikes. (I have no idea how to play pool)

''So..I can't help but to ask... What are you? Curiosity has been eating me since the beggining of the match'' he asked politely. ''I'll share my origin if you share yours'' @KattRai

Liliana nodded approvingly as two of the balls fell into pockets. "I am a daughter of Freya: Valkyrie, as we are called now." She said, feeling there was no harm in giving away her true nature, and hoping that some of the men gawking at her would overhear and leave her be. "Let me guess at yours... you seem to be from the sea, so perhaps you are a merman? Though, you seem to old to be something so short-lived as a fish-man. Too solid to be a spirit of some ocean, though strong enough to be... perhaps... no, you would be far more obnoxious if you were one of the greeks or romans..." She trailed off, she had matched his two in and gotten one more before she missed the next shot. She looked at him, and asked "Am I close?"

William chuckled vigourosly as he heard the valkyrie's tries to guess his species. ''No. I am not a merman. Nor a spirit of the ocean. And I'm definitely not Poseidon or Oceanus or whoever else you had in mind of the greeks and romans. No. I am part of an ancient sea culture of creatures called Leviathans. We were here a long time ago, and we dwell on the deepest of the oceans. Some of us, even got reputations, Loch Ness Monster, Megalodon, Kraken? Those are all man-given names to some represantants of our species. As for me, I have already said my nickname 2 seconds ago. The Kraken, at your disposal'' he said respectfully bowing as he took his turn and got another one in.

"Oh? I knew those others couldn't be right. A leviathan, huh? I don't believe I've ever come across one of those, though I've heard quite a bit about them." Liliana said, continuing the game.

''Yeah. Between you and me, it's not as exciting as it sounds'' he said laughing then taking his shot. ''Can't say I ever heard of your Valkyries though. Tell me: do you have special gifts or supernatural powers? I am not that reeled in Norse mythology yet'' he said as he order the bartender to bring him some scotch while he was playing. ''And is this your natural form?This form of mine for instance, is a vessel. My true form is at least a quarter of Washington DC'' he said with a glint of pride in his eyes

@KattRai

After flying for some time the swarm of flies begin split up and begin to stealthily converge on Detroit, infecting any citizen they bite with horrible diseases.

"This is as true as my form gets, though I can take another." She said. "As for what I can do? That is information you only learn in a fight." Her voice was neither threatening, nor friendly. It was nearly a statement of fact. "Though I must admit I am surprised that you've never heard of my people."

''As I said, Norse Mythology ain't my thing'' he said as he sipped his scotch. ''And I am having a tough time catching up on all of this. Internet, cars, books, freaking Facebook for crying out loud. Until now, I used to live on the bottom of the sea and butcher nearby ships that entered my territory. This hoever is different. Harder than battling a whale with your bare hands. And trust me, I've done that'' he ended. ''So yes, I ain't in my best shape in norse mythology. Caught on greek, roman, egyptian and romanian mythology though, and the popular monsters that seem to roam the streets these days, but other than that, I still have to learn''

The game was nearing to an end, and they were equal at score. Every time William lead, Liliana caught back and equaled him once again.

''I must admit'' he said. ''You're a formidable foe. Makes me sorry that I bet all of those 100$ on you'' he said smirking

@KattRai

"Yeah? There's a lot of knowledge to be had here." Anya said, going again. "And you're not half bad yourself, surprisingly." She said, finally getting the black 8 ball in. "Looks like the cash is mine." She said, flushing a triumphant grin. Winning was something she loved, but to be fair who didn't love winning? "Tell you what, Will Kraken, Why don't I buy you a drink with the money I just won from you?" That was something she typically didn't do, but she had just won $100 from him.

(Sorry for the delay, been busy lately)

"Well met, Allerio. Don't worry about your true name. My kin may have a reputation for violence, but if our secrets were known, then I don't believe we would still exist today hmm?" The implication was not subtle, but Scath knew Allerio understood. There was a mutual understanding between the older beings such as Fae and Dragonkin. It was something no human would understand. Scath looked at the sky, watching the clouds pass over the trees. "The wind is right, I believe it is time to be off." Scath turned to walk off, but stopped to look back at the Elf. "There are those who still remember old alliances.", Scath spoke in the ancient tongue before disappearing into the forest.

He took to the skies when he found an opening. The air blowing over his body was both soothing and stimulating, like the caress of one's lover. Scath seemed to drift off into a dream, a memory of the Old World. He looked out over a vast reflection of the azure sky, dotted with clouds. The Irish Sea rolled out from it's depths and crashed into the rocky shore, spraying his face with it's mist and salt. He watched the far shore carefully, his eyes able to see a shape moving in the distance. He lifted his head, spraying forth a short burst of flame before watching the shore again. Another burst of fire rose from the Irish shore in response. Scath could feel the salty air under his wings as he left Wales behind, though his eyes never left the emerald shape that mimicked him in his movements. It wasn't long before they met in the air above the Isle of Mann. She was beautiful, no, breathtaking! Her deep, emerald scales appearing to ripple like the seas of green grass from her homeland blowing in the breeze. Scath watched her as they flew, two halves of a circle dancing in the sky. It was like the ouroboros chasing it's own tail. As they landed Scath felt his heart racing. "I thought I had lost you." As they're necks intertwined Scath could almost feel her scales touching his own. When he looked at her again he recoiled in horror. Her face had become craven and morbid, as if something long dead had risen back to life.

Scath felt his body dropping out of the sky. He quickly unfurled his wings, catching the updraft quick enough to allow himself time to land. He landed, hard, on the closest building he could find. When he finally got back to his senses Scath realized he was back in DC. Luckily enough the building he stood on was abandoned, flagged for demo even. Scath shook his head, trying to let old feeling fade back into the shadows. "I need something....to get my mind off of her." Scath wrapped himself in his wings, letting his body shift into a form more suited to walking. He stood still, letting himself adjust to a form he hadn't used in quite some time. Appearance wise, he looked the same as his true form, save for he was now bipedal, seven feet tall, and his wings had "phased out". Usually, Dragons would take human form. Scath had always hated hiding, even despite his many years of successfully doing just that. But these humans had seen him in his true flesh, and there had been no sign of Hunters or aggression towards him. What could it hurt?

Scath climbed down the building and followed the sidewalk to nowhere in particular. He watched the reactions of the people he passed. They ranged from startled, but intrigued double takes to flat out staring. Some took pictures or video, and one infant had even given him a toothless smile. No, these were not Hunters to be feared. These were the humans that Scath had sworn to protect. And they seemed to embrace him, through some strange sort of fashion. The thought brought peace of mind to the Wyrm. After walking for four blocks or so, the flashing neon sign of a bar caught Scath's attention.
Good enough I suppose, Scath contemplated as he walked through the door. The bartender looked him over from tip to toe, but finally seemed content enough to go back to his business. They patrons staring didn't catch Scath's attention, but what did was the sight of a familiar blonde haired figure standing by the pool table talking with a rather imposing man. Intrigued, Scath moved closer, letting his eyes adjust to the rooms lighting as he did so. "Well, isn't this an interesting happenstance?"

@Elias

(Yes, I know it is lengthy, but I wanted to expose some of Scath's backstory, and find a way to introduce his anthro form)

Liliana looked up when she heard the voice, it seemed familiar, and when she did she immediately knew who it was that had spoken. "Oh, well it would appear to be." The valkyrie woman said, standing a touch taller. "You lost some things, I see." She gestured to him, clearly indicating his missing wings.

(So, any chance you can find a picture to post on the C.S. to give a better idea of what he looks like? If not that's perfectly fine, too. sometimes pictures are hard to find in cases like these! @BookWyrm)

"I assumed that they would be cumbersome." Scath looked about the room, thinking of how cramped he would feel if he had left his wings in place. "And I didn't think I would need to be flying anywhere quickly." Scath tried to smile, though he felt more like he was snarling. He turned to the man Lilliana was with, finally getting a good look at him. "Forgive me for not introducing myself. I am Scath of Wales."

@KattRai @Elias

William smiled politely and extended the dragon his hand in sign of friendship. ''Greetings Scath. I am William'' he said as he shook Scath's hand. ''And you seem to have already met the lovely lady who just emptied me out of money'' he said as he took a step back, reverting to his formal straight stance. His eyes wandered on the dragon's fit body. He hasn't seen one of these in a long, long while. Many ages ago, he had met a couple of dragons in his oceanly adventures, and the tales they told him, intrigued him even then. Flying also seemed like a way too good to be true dream. Altough, those ones were also dragons, they were different than Scath, more serpentine, with majestic features and red and gold colours. They must have been Chinese dragons, while Scath was probably of European descent. Willing to engage in conversation he asked the dragon:

''What brings you to this place? No offence but bars aren't really the place I would see dragons frequent. Caught a little taste for alchohol?''

@KattRai

"Or perhaps he simply knew he could find people, here." Liliana said, turning back to the dragon. "And that seems reasonable enough. Flying is not usually appreciated around the city it seems."

Greyston, meanwhile found himself wandering into the same bar to escape the afternoon sun. After a few hours he needed the break. When he entered he assessed the scene. Those who were there seemed mostly to be brutes, long hair, leather, denim, tattoos, the works. He noticed a djinn, two werewolfs, one of Dionysus's servants running the bar as usual, a Dragon- presumably the one who had been flying around DC, a Valkyrie- based on her slight accent, and Will, the Kraken. The rest seemed human enough.

Satisfied with his assessment, Corin swaggered over to the pool table with a friendly grin. "How are you, Krach?" He asked, "you win?" He gestured vainly to the pool table. Greyston's was not the best with names, that's why he gave nearly everyone a nickname.

Piper was walking down the street, having taken the day off. She was hungry, and deciding to stop at a nice place to eat, she went into one of the nicer restaurants in town and sat down, contemplating what she wanted. She heard a voice above her, and ordered a water with lemon before looking back at the menu.

"Not at the bar with your partner?" She looked up suddenly, frowning. Galleytrot was back.

"What are you following me for?" She asked sharply. He shrugged and helped himself to a seat.

"You know my business, yes? Well, you are a women. You are constantly in danger. You also have a high probability of dying. Exactly the sort I'd follow around." Galleytrot replied.

She scowled. "Fair enough. Are you staying? Do I need to pay for two?" She asked dryly.

He shook his head. "No. I want a root beer

William frowned slightly, hearing the nickname Corin gave him. ''Sadly not. The valkyrie is tougher than she seems. She let me think I was winning then stroke when I least expected it. Cheers to her I guess'' he said as he downed his scotch. ''And don't call me Krach. It makes me sound like an potato chips factory with a horrible name'' he said as he smirked slightly. ''Calling me Will would suffice''

"Valkyries always are," Greyston said with a nod. "And fine, will. Surely that isn't too hard to remember." He nodded to Anya and to Scath in turn before introducing himself. "I'm Greyston, or Corin, if you'd prefer."

Lilianna rolled her eyes before noticing the argument between three guys, one burly guy against two rather hairy ones.

''I know who you are'' Will added laughing. ''I work at the Department, so I already spoke to you once. And told you that you look like hell. Apologies about that by the way'' he said then turned around to see what the fuss was about. He guessed that the hairy guys must be werewolves and they were arguing about something with the burly guy, who he wasnt sure what he was.

''This could get interesting'' he mused.
