Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

The radio was quite for just a moment, as if searching for what to say, then it started back up. The Kinks played this time, though it wasn't from the beginning of the song, rather halfway through the first verse it started in, and it let the song linger a little longer than it probably should have.

"How are you?

How is your life? How is it going?

Are you still dreaming and making big plans?

How are the nights are they still lonely?

Are you still struggling the way that I am? Oh

How, how are you? How are you?"

@Elias

Liliana examined him, and after a moment responded. "Well, I don't really need your help to do my job. But if you wish to help, I suppose you're welcome to."

(Sorry I am so slow on my replies. I am kinda busy these days)

William blinked as he examined the radio. What the hell was this? He didn't remember radios speaking to humans even if his short time on ground-level till now. What was causing this? An anomaly? Ghost? Maybe a being, living in the radio? As he went trough his toughts, the radio played The Kinks (the above verses) then stopped again. Will was simply amazed. The radio was now asking him about how he was feeling, how his life was. Hmm. Tough answer. But he answered it anyway: ''How's life huh? Pretty hard, I guess. I don't really feel I belong here'' he said as he layd back on his chair yet again then asked the entity in the radio: ''What are you, talking radio?'' @KattRai

Justin nodded then struttled alongside the valkyrie and the dragon as they flew through the air. Well, this didn't begin well, he tought smirking to himself. One wrong move earlier, and he could have been angel kebab by now. Luckily, the dragon was as fair as he was majestic and the valkyrie, even tough a little cold, intrigued him aswell. They were both beings of the old world, so they were probably even more wise than this Nephilim. As he flew through the air, he regained his laid back attitude. ''I'm Justin, by the way. And you two are?'' @BookWyrm @KattRai

Luke sat up. His head was banging. He was still at the crime scene..........or scenes. He overshot it, and his body wasn't trained for strain. He'd faint pretty fast if he overshoots his magic. Maybe I should train more, He thought to himself, knowing he wasn't gonna do it.

(I really said this because I've been on a hiatus for the past few days.)

He flew around for a second. The fires were out, and not a single trace existed......... except for the burned area where the buildings were. He saw Corin there chasing the guy Luke believed to at least be a suspect, if not the perp. Luke dropped both his Hydro Bots and turned to Scanbots. He was to investigate the scenes.

"Scan." The robot did so. Nothing appeared until Luke went to the center of the building. The origin point of the fire. Sure enough, the same Magic Residue was there. Silver with Greenish hue. Once again, an elf. This was the vigilante's doing. What an ass. He was obviously trying to cover his tracks, but Magic Residue can never be destroyed, since it comes from using magic. Magic can't destroy Magic Residue. He went to all the scenes and did the same, uncovering the same residue. He took a picture of the scene, then enchanted the camera to detect magic, the same thing he did with every scene. Unlike those scenes, though, he decided to collect the magic residue.

He summoned a Medic Bot, who went around, tending to injuries along with the paramedics.

After another moment, the radio responded again, this time it was a Relient K song (I don't remember the title, of this one! sorry! Lost Boy, maybe?):

"Before you came around/I couldn't figure out/Where I was going/I was wandering wandering/Wandering around/Before I found my way/I was running like a stray/And I was a lost boy/Just a lost boy"

As it did, a light bluish blob seemed to flow out from it, forming into a ball in the air, and then forming a young, white haired boy in the seat beside William. The boy looked at William with wide blue-grey, eyes. The boy stared at William, waiting for a response. There weren't really any words he could find to explain what he truly was, but that seemed to fit well enough. He didn't feel like putting in the effort to find each of the words he would have to use to tell the man what exactly he was. But he was curious.

@Elias

Liliana glanced at the boy. You're awful chatty, aren't you? She thought, but then she sighed, and said, "I am Liliana, the dragon is Scath." After the halfling responded, she sighed, and told the two of them that it would seem they have done all that they could, and she was tired. It had been a long day, and the night was growing late.

(Is anyone available to interact with?)

Kaelin walked through the park at a slow pace, his eyes on his book. He had finally gotten to the climax of the story, where the main characters finally acknowledged the love they had tried to ignore since they had met. The tension mounted for Kaelin as he turned page after page. While he would usually be paying as much attention to the world around him as the one the stories made in his head, he was completely unaware of anything happening around him, at the moment.

(Oh hey, new people xD Greetings @KattRai should we time skip soon?)

William looked as stunned as he could be when the blob suddenly flowed through the radio and materialised in the left seat. Listening to the melody he played (fave of mine btw) he understood that the boy was just skipping around and he happened to find him. As he studied the entity he wondered what it might have been. It used sound waves to travel obviously, but what was it? Will wasn't sure yet. His bets were either on spirit or that musical type of rare elemental he heard before. Bowing his head slightly, he tried to smile to the creature and offered his hand politely for him to shake it. ''I see what you mean'' he said. ''I am Will. I don't know what your name is, but for now I'm going to call you Melody because you seem to only speak by songs'' he said smiling politely. ''Why me though? What brought you to my car?'' he said then realising how late it was, riled up the van and set course for the department. The creature could tell it's story on the way. @KattRai

Justin nodded to the Valkyrie's mention of the time. It was getting late, and from the looks of it, he was nothing but a burden for these two. ''Well then'' he said nonchalantly. ''Nice meeting you two. Valkyrie. Dragon'' he said as he bowed his head to both of them, then let himself fall from the height that he was flying from. He landed Iron-Man style on the roof of a nearby builiding then started gliding down towards the streets, in the direction of his apartment. Finally arriving, he unlocked his apartment door and crashed himself on the bed, falling into a deep sleep.

"Scath of Wales." This Nephilim asks a lot of questions. Scath continued his flight pattern over the rubble, but realized that he wasn't finding anything new from the air. "Lilliana, I'm not finding any more new evidence. We will need to regroup with Greyston soon, how many do you have left to sort through?"

(Short post is short)

(At the moment only Luke is not interacting with others, it seems, but he's at the explosion site. Also there were a set of explosions that recently rocked the area. And Yeah, I want to do a timeskip soon. I've honestly been post-poning, waiting for @Azure Sky to respond, but alas it seems he will not.)

Greyston had no true grounds to capture the man on, but he would remember his face for later, as it was getting very, very late. He sighed, and slowed to a halt. Checking his phone he texted William back, he told the man to rest for the night and report back in the morning. He texted the same to the rest of the department members, they all should get some rest and report back later in the morning for regrouping and further assignments.

@Elias @Kylesar1 @Sleipnir

"None, I am done." Liliana rode with Scath back towards the ground, and when they landed she said her fair wells. She told him that perhaps they would see each other again soon, as she was very interested in catching the man who did this. After they spoke, Lilianna headed back towards her own apartment. It was nothing special, a smaller two bedroom apartment she shared with only her pet raven, Raven. After she fed Raven, she fed herself then crashed in her bed, drifting quickly to sleep.

@BookWyrm

The boy shook his hand, and smiled. That was a name it had been called before and it was fine with it. Melody pondered the man's question, and rather than actually reply it decided that a simple shrug should be enough of an answer. It didn't know why it chose this van, it just seemed... cool, important maybe. When it did reply again, it was a question of it's own for William, in the form of Pillar's Hypnotized.

"Where do we go from here?/How did it disappear?"

(If no one needs/wants the names of the songs I use for reference then I can stop adding them, I just figured it could be helpful if anyone recognized the songs to hear in your heads what is being played :)

In The Assassin's Wing( 4th Floor Of The DDAMPSEA Headquarters)

Belial leans back in his office chair with his fit on his desk. "It gets boring around this office, nothing seems to be happening today, no hits or anything" Belial says to himself as he sips his coffee. Belial decides to take a stroll around the office. his feet making a satisfying sound as he walks down the hall looking down at his phone while he walks.

Archan
them
Hey

William seemed confused by the dissapearing part, but tried his best to answer, while keeping his eyes both on the road ahead and one the elemental besides him. ''I don't know about you, but I was heading towards the headquarters. The day is halting to an end, and even tough I'm not human, my body is, so I need sleep. How about you, Melody? Are you planning on coming alongside me? I must leave my van soon'' he added smiling to the kid. ''You can rest in my room if you can, at least until the others find out about you and question you'' he said asking the elemental. @KattRai

(I don't mind the references, I quite like them. Also, feel free to time skip whenever you want, you the chief)

Luke flew home swiftly. He got home and jumped into bed immediately. This case was crazy. Luke pondered his life as he drifted into sleep. He had to discuss with Corin the details of his findings tomorrow. This perp was to be caught soon

(Ready for the skip)

Melody looked at William, as if thinking, then played through the first half of The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go":

"If I could/ Then I would/I'll go wherever you will go/Whether up high/or down low"

The boy smiled at Will, and once they arrived at the department he changed back into his blobby form and followed Will through the halls. The elemental didn't really sleep, but it was happy to spend it's time exploring the halls of the department via sound waves.

Midday Saturday

(The next day)

Greyston sat in his office, he had been up early, and working on locating the man he saw, and also on pushing Woodbury's
requests through to his superiors. He was a little surprised at how few people had stopped by and needed him so far today, but he supposed that was to be expected because no one wanted to work on the weekends. He stretched out and glanced over to his partners office, across the hall. Apparently even Piper was not feeling up to coming in this morning. He really was starting to wonder where she had gone off to. He was also wondering about the dragon and the Valkyrie he had met before, and if he should extend invitations to them to join. The application process was long and tedious, and rarely even got anyone anywhere. Most members of the department were hand chosen, selected from the best in their fields and recruited. Of course, sometimes they were turned down, but that was fairly rare. The department offered excellent benefits.

Liliana, meanwhile, had spent her morning making breakfast and going for a morning jog, then she came home, watched a show. Complained about there not being enough female characters- then more when her favorite one was killed by a stitched together monster at the end. After that she made lunch and lounged around, unsure of what to do with herself today.

Belial arrived to the office midday and took a deep breath, "hopefully Greyston has some work for me today." Belial walked to Greyston's office grabbing a cup of coffee on the way. He knocked on the door "Oi, Greyston anything need to cease living?" @KattRai

William yawned as he got up from his bed and glanced around his medium-size room assigned by the Department. The sun was shining and by the looks of it, it was pretty late in the morning. Slowly, he got up and went to brew himself a cup of coffee down at the coffee dispenser. He didn't see Melody anywhere so he figured it might be exploring the Department. As he sipped his coffee, out of boredom, he took a look on the cases that were assigned today. There was the ongoing vigilante examination, and other two recent killings. In one of them, the victim was found hogtied to their own chair, not with rope, but with their own innards. In the other case, a woman has been found dead on the streets, no head, blood sucked dry from her, and the interesting part, no skeleton inside of her. William stroke his beard gently as he thought of what could do these cases, then decided the second one would be an interesting one to solve. As he got up, he whistled for Melody. He didn't want him wandering about. Who knows what could happen to him. @KattRai

Melody appeared beside him, again taking the form of a young boy, and sang back a similar whistleing sound. With a smile, it waved hello.

@Elias

Greyston, meanwhile, turned to the guy asking about work. "Yeah, we have a couple of open cases: the vigilante archer/bomber is our number one primary case. Luke is the best one to ask to get you up to speed on that one, I haven't actually worked it yet and he has more information than I do. Or potentially William- I think they were working it together. We've got a case with two victims: both died from rapidly spreading necrotic tissue, both related to a recently deceased woman, the son was at college and the husband was a scratchy social worker, but it doesn't seem like a vengeful spirit case. Doctor mentioned something about it starting with a pinch? There's also what's up on the board." He said, motioning vaugly towards where the board was in the main department room. "That would be, if I recall, the hog-tied honey and the spineless woman."

Scath found himself quite at ease with being around people, which in many ways surprised him. He had left the crime scene the previous night and returned to his den, but after his breakfast he had returned to the National Mall, this time using his anthro form to appear less threatening. The move had drawn people closer, but everyone had kept their distance for the most part. That is until a young girl, who appeared to be between the ages of three and five, had walked over to where Scath was, albeit unbeknownst to the child's mother. Scath had looked down at the small human, even shifting his form slightly, taking on an almost dog-like shape(drake), just to get closer to the child to smell her, making her laugh and scream, which of course alerted her mom. The woman rushed over as she waved her arms, the color draining from her face until she saw Scath wrap his tail around the child and lift her in the air, causing even more laughter from the toddler.

And so the games began.

In the end Scath had returned to his natural form, more out of fairness for the children than for other reasons. He had young kids climbing over him like a jungle gym, all of them laughing and playing with the "big winged lizard thing", as many of them referred to him. It had drawn the attention of the local newscasters, who had even brought a team down to film the spectacle. In truth Scath had enjoyed himself more that day than he had in many years.

Now, with it being midday, Scath was back at Great Falls, his wings unfurled in the warm afternoon sun, content to finally be able to rest in the open instead of stalking around in the dark.

(Kinda busy this day, but from tomorrow I will resume posting more posts)

Will was driving along the city, Melody besides him, both heading for the crime scene where the woman was found skeleton-less. Sure it may not be the right place for Melody to be, but William figured that he was safe with him. Others didn't know Melody yet, so he wasn't sure what their reaction would have been. As they struttled along the highway, the radio started playing Carry On Wayward Son, by Kansas, a melody William heard before and was glad to hear it again. Rocking his head to the tune of the music, he raced towards the scene. Reaching there, he stopped and got out of his van, urging Melody to remain inside for the moment. As he got near the scene, he examined the body. It was quite a killing. He would have to think hard on this one....

Justin sipped his coffee, as he finished donating with a sigh, a copious ammount of money from a greedy-money corporation to a save-the-tigers one. Yep, he was at his unnoficial job, Robin Hood-ing on the Internet, draining rich I'm uncultured out of their money, and donating them to those who actually got the need. He hasn't been caught till now, and with luck he will never be. He liked what he was doing, yet his crosshairs were set on something higher. His dream job: to be a technician/tech guy at the Department. Much like Luke Cross. As he got out of the internet cafe, he took a walk along the sidewalks of Washington DC. That is until he stumbled across a crime scene. There were a lot of people there: police, department agents, forensic scientists and pathologists. Glancing around, he noticed his friend Johhny, a pathologist and also a wraith, taking a look at the victim. ''Hey Johhny'' he said as he got near his friend.

''Hey!'' John said as he noticed his friend then shifted his look back to the murder scene. ''Quite a mess, ai? The killer is 100% supernatural in origin, I'd say. No man could have done this. The blood has been sucked dry, head is gone, and most important, her entire skeleton is gone. Like somebody pulled it out of her. I have never seen such a thing. Department sent a investagator already'' he said pointing out to Will. ''He's on it''

Piper then appeared through the doors, pushing out a sigh before sinking into her office chair, setting a mug on her desk. "Good morning, Greyston," she greeted him. "Sorry I was out. I saw on TV what had happened." She grimaced, frustrated at the situation the department was now in. "The vigilante is really getting on my nerves."

"He's getting innocents caught up in it now, though," suddenly, Galleytrot. He was leaning against her desk, and then picked up her mug, stared at its contents a moment, then drank it. Piper glared at him, but he disregarded her. "I don't like people who get innocents caught up in it."

"As for us?" Reed asked, not looking pleased with their visitor.

"At least you all send a letter," Galleytrot replied with a touch if disdain. "You don't disappear into the night like nothing's happened."

Greyston was immidetatly distracted by his partner and looked at her and the man.

"Hey, who let you back here?" He asked, looking almost offended, "you don't have clearance-or badges! And stop drinking my-her coffee!" Greyston said, standing. He didn't really know who the man was at first, but then he realized it was. Galleytrot was the guy from before, the Black Dog.

Meanwhile, melody had been waiting in the car patiently, though after a few minutes it decided that it was bored. It decided to have some fun with other people, fearing William would scold it if it returned to him. Yelling was not something Melody enjoyed. Melody instead just wandered around the scene as a young boy, trying to get a glimpse of what had occurred

Liliana noticed her dragon friend on the news and decided to head down to where she had seen him on TV and see if he was there, still.

After staying at Great Falls for a couple of hours, Scath had slid into the Potomac and followed down river and back into DC. He was swimming around in the Tidal Basin in front of the Jefferson Memorial when he noticed a familiar figure walking around the National Mall. "Greetings Lilliana. What brings you out on this fine afternoon?", he asked when he had finally reached the shore she was standing on.

@KattRai

"I was looking for you, actually," she said, what could almost be discribed as a smile graced her lips. "I saw you on the news eariler, and I thought some company may be nice- I've been lazy all day today.

Galleytrot gave Greyston only about half his attention, shrugging. "I don't need clearance. You couldn't hardly keep me out even if you wanted to." He sat down on the edge of Piper's desk. "Besides, if I drank it, isn't it my coffee? And you had nothing to do with it, so honestly, who's is it?"

"Ladies, fret not," Piper said sarcastically, not looking away from her screen. "No need to squabble. I shall marry the princess with the finest dowry." She frowned then, staring at a sticky note on her keyboard. She picked it off and read it for several moments, and tilting her head slightly, returned to her computer and began typing rapidly.

Then she turned to Greyston. "We've been assigned a case. We'll leave the elf alone for awhile. This shouldn't take long: We've got a request for help regarding a poltergeist in... A lighthouse." She paused to read the note again before finishing her sentence.

"A light house? Where at?" Greyston asked, moving over to look at screen, half pushing galleytrot out of the way as he did, not even bothering to answer his statement. He added a mental note to self to find out how to ward off black dogs as he did this.

He stumbled off, regaining his composure as quickly as he could but not interrupting. A job is a job, after all.

"It says Fourteen-Mile Point," Piper replied, glancing at him. "It's nothing big — I mean, Poltergeists are really easy."

"Why don't I take care of it?" Greyston asked. "You could be useful around here- there are several cases open, anyway." He said, taking a sip of her coffee before realizing that Gallytrot had drained it all earlier.
