Astrid smiled softly but grimaced “I’m okay Kain.. she’s just getting really loud in my head again..” she looked up at him “your touch seemed to help her yesterday…” she mumbled

Kain listened to her and gulped. He didn't want to hurt her again, but maybe a few seconds of less struggle? He made the decision this time, grabbing her in his arms and kissing her head. He felt the burn, more uncomfortable embers than a fire now.

Jay finished her food and drink, before looking back over at Eric. "I was just thinking that I got pretty lucky" She blushed. Yes, Jaylin was a romantic, more so than she'd ever care to admit.​

Astrid whined in pain but surprisingly the pain seemed tolerable this time as she curled into his chest. The cool water helping with the burning sensation as her wolf tried calling out.

Eric chuckled “if anything I did…” he smiled softly “I was so worried my mate wouldn’t like me..” he awkwardly rubbed his neck “I mean she kindia didnt at first.” He teased

Kain looked down at her, his soul calling out to her wolf. "You can do it, she needs you" He said, and even though it still hurt, he pulled her closer. "Come on" He whispered to her.

Jay blushed, looking at him. "I may have been against it at first, but for some reason you grew on me" She teased back, pressing a kiss to his cheek. The moment she'd sat down with him those weeks ago, she'd been smitten and would do anything to keep what she'd found when she couldn't before.​

Astrid buried her face in his chest whimpering in pain but deeply breathed in his scent. Her wolf truly whimpering as she tried to break free “Kain…” she whined


Eric chuckled “just some reason?” He returned her quick kiss as he stood “you know I spent weeks before that meeting pestering Kain on everything he did to take and make it perfect.” He rubbed his neck awkwardly “it didn’t quite go as I invisioned

Kain held her tighter. "I know love, come on. You can do it, feel her, connect with her" He said, brushing her hair with his hand, trying to hold back the whines of pain. His soul tried calling out again to her wolf. "Come on mate, come back to us" He whispered.

Jaylin looked at him with a blush as he returned the kiss. She could see Eric constantly asking Kain questions and she smiled. "Okay, so it wasn't my finest moment." She said, standing up as well. "I didn't mean to hurt you, I was very resentful of having another mate, especially from the clan my first one had been killed by" She admitted, rubbing her neck with a flush. She couldn't condone her actions, but she'd apologize for them. "but I guess you're all right" She added with a teasing grin.​

Her wolf was truly fighting and had Astrid in tears but it just wasn’t quite enough to tip her wolf over the edge to get free. She whimpered “Kain it hurts..” but it was evident his touch was what was getting her wolf worked up to get free

Eric chuckled “with how we started I’ll take just alright.” He smiled softly though “ I wouldn’t blame you for being upset at first.. I’m just happy you gave me a chance..”

Kain looked at her and whined for her. "Do you want me to let go?" He knew the pain of their contact but he didn't want to let go. "Come on. You can do this" He said, still holding her close. He wanted to help her but he didn't know what to do, he was clueless on this process. He would let go of her if she'd ask, but until she does, he won't.

Jay smiled at him. "I'm happy I gave you a chance too. I spent so long hurting, missing my mate, but I was given a second chance. With you" She said, grabbing his hand and smiled. She started to head to their room, she definitely needed a shower but she also wanted to keep talking with Eric.​

Astrid whimpered but shook her head until the pain began getting worse and she cried out. It seemed to be helping her wolf though as she was no longer silent but it was significantly worse for Astrid. “Kain…” she whined


Eric grinned “ I at least got Kain to tell me all the stuff he messed up on so I could do better.” He walked beside her holding her hand as they stepped into his room.

Kain looked at his mate curled up in his chest. "You have to talk to me love, I can't help you. I know it hurts but I need you to tell me when to hold on and when to let go" He said, running a hand down her hair. He originally felt embers, but as the time passed it seemed to be getting worse. He whined listening to her cry out, it was breaking his heart if he had one.

Jay laughed listening to him as they got into his room. "Kain messed up? I find that hard to believe" He seemed so sure in their relationship, well until Astrid was kidnapped and had half the bond terminated. "I'll be right back" She smiled at him, before grabbing something from her suitcase and headed into the bathroom. She had bought this dress (no veil obviously) for some reason ages ago, and never wore it, she figured it was perfect for the acting Queen. She showered and slipped on some black flats and put the dress on. She stepped out and looked at Eric with a smile. "What do you think?" She asked.​

Astrid was sobbing as the pain was becoming unbearable but her wolf was nearly snarling in her mind. She just curled into his arms desperate for him to stop the pain like it was somehow going to work. Her wolf was so close but it was clearly becoming to much for Astrid.

Eric laughed “a few times.” He watched her leave for changing into a suit that was very similar to Kain’s but looked up hearing her. “Oh wow.. it’s gorgeous Jay.”

Kain could sense that this was becoming a huge toll on Astrid. “Love, I’ve gotta let you go, you need to breathe and relax. If you get too tired she won’t come out.” He said, gently moving her away from him. He whined at the loss of contact but it felt like a balm on a sore, the pain lingered but left.

Jay blushed as she fiddled with her hands. “Thanks.” She said a little shyly. She was still a little nervous about the meeting. “You look very handsome” she added, walking over to him.​

Astrid sat against the rock panting tiredly but whined was her wolf started to quiet down again. She needed the help to get her just over the edge but him staying away wasn’t helping

Eric looked down at her “you’re gorgeous..” he took her hands so she couldn’t fiddle with him “Jay it’s your pack mates there’s no need to stress I’ll be beside you the whole way.

Kain sighed, he leaned himself on the rock beside her. “I don’t want to push you love, at least not while we’re in a pond” he said. “Would you like to try again? On dry land?” He asked, looking over at her.

Jay felt her face heat up in a blush as she looked at him when he took her hands. “Thank you.” She said. There were several things she wanted to say but thank you summarized it pretty well. She was still nervous but Jay was appreciative of the simple action. "Ready for this?" She asked.​

Astrid looked exhausted, but climbed out of the pond with a little nod. Her wolf was so close to breaking free but she was struggling with all her fighting. “She’s close but it hurts…”

Eric nodded softly “your whole pack already loves you and most of the clan is just excited I’ve stopped asking everyone about their mates and what it’s like.” He chuckled taking her hand and headed out

Kain climbed out of the pond himself and braced himself. "Okay, this will hurt again and once it gets to be too much, you must let me know" He said, looking at her. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his chest. He felt the embers at the contact, but once her wolf is out, then the headaches should stop and they can work on the other issue at hand, the damaged mark. He looked at the mark and saw what everyone had said.

Jay smiled and laughed a little at the comment. "I know. I hope everything goes well" She said, following him out of their room. The unmated clan members were outside, waiting to be taken to the meeting.​

Astrid cried out at the touch but curled into his arms with a whimper. Up close you could see how badly damaged the Mark was and how much pain she was in. “Kain please don’t let go till she’s out..” she whined


Eric nodded “we haven’t heard a peep about the rouges since. I don’t think we are lucky enough they broke up but I they have to regroup before they try anything again.” He dipped his head to the clan before leading them to the meeting

He rumbled to her, trying to sooth her. He knew it hurt, he could feel it too. "If I had my way, I'd never let you go love." He said. He ran a hand through her hair, kissed the top of her head. He held her tight to his chest, an almost consistent rumble in his throat. He refused to look at the mark for the time being, eventually it should heal if his touch was helping her wolf.

Jay nodded as well. "I doubt they broke up, but without Luca they don't have that strong leadership so they need to find it again" She said as they made their way to the meeting, the clan behind them. The clearing was soon in view.​

Astrid started crying again small whimpers of pain escaped as she looked physically exhausted but was trying to fight. Barely stifling the screams that wanted to rock her body. after was seemed like an eternity her wolf managed to break through but was met with Amira screaming in pain before passing out. Her wolf laying there instead looking a lot worse for wear than usual.

Eric visbly relaxed some seeing Alpha Ryan and his pack already there. “I do not know what they would want regrouped unless it’s payback for Luca.”

Ryan just dipped his head seeing Eric and Jay “good afternoon. I would take it there were no signs of rouges on your land either?”

Kain let go when he felt her wolf push through. He heard Astrid scream before passing out, shifting into her wolf instead. He stood there, looking down at his mate's wolf who didn't look well. He wasn't sure what to do, so he sat down, making himself less of a threat, not knowing what would happen when the wolf got up.

Jay noticed that Eric had relaxed upon seeing her pack already there. She shivered upon hearing his words though. "Or to do what they intended in the beginning anyway." She said as they walked over to Ryan. Jay dipped her head in respect. "I haven't seen or scented any rogues no, Alpha" She said.​

Astrid was out for hours but her breathing finally began to even out and she began to stir. Her wolf snapped awake, scrambling upright seeming in a panic before her attention snapped to her mate’s scent. Her ears perked as she lunged to pin him to the ground licking his face before yelping in pain and scrambled backwards


Ryan dipped his head “they are regrouping but we have not seen them since.. how is Astrid..?”

Eric sighed “ I wouldn’t believe so.. none of them were interested in you or Astrid… it would serve them little good.” He walked over to Ryan and dipped his head

Kain, at first watched her wolf snap awake and pin him to the ground but he winced when she yelped. He rumbled gently, getting to his knees. "I know you can understand me, even if I can't you. Our bond has been damaged, so it hurts to touch right now." He tried to explain to the wolf. He didn't want to be the cause of pain for both of them. "We're trying to fix it, but we don't know how" He added.

Jay heard Eric's words and while that was true, she was sure they'd try something to mess with the peace at the moment. Groups like that don't stop, they just change leaders. "They'd still ruin the peace though." She told him. Turning the Alpha Ryan she sighed. "We're not sure. Her and Kain went to a cabin out on their territory to try and fix this." She told him. She had been wondering how the two were.​

Her wolf pinned her ears baring her fangs at him almost like she believed he was imposter threateningly. She stepped forward again to touch him like she didn’t believe it the first time but in her startled panic she snapped at his arm drawing blood. Her nose had barely grazed his arm but it hurt and her wolf didn’t understand so she bit.

Shrinking away she stared at him but her ears seemed to perk up, his blood held hint of her mates scent and that was impossible to change. She just played down with a whimper wanting his attention

Ryan just nodded before stepping away and watched the scene a look of disappointment seemed to occur on occasion as he supervised

Kain saw the pinned ears, bared fangs and froze. He didn't move a muscle. She stepped forward but again the touch hurt. In her panic she bit his arm. He couldn't help the pained cry as he looked at his arm. His eyes widened in fear, he'd never been scared of his mate or her wolf, but he was at the moment. He held his arm to his chest, this he could heal, but he didn't think he could call that forward right now. He watched as her attitude changed, the blood scent must have registered. "It's okay love, it was an accident" He heard her whimper. "Look see" He tried to convince her by swallowing his fear and put his other hand to his arm, healing it easier than he thought. "All better, it was an accident" He said.

Jay stood by Eric, although she saw Paul and waved him over. He walked over with a smile and she gave him a hug. "How've you been?" She asked him. "Okay, how are you?" He asked. "I'm good, I'm really good" She said, glancing up at Eric with a blush. "He's being good to you right?" She smacked his shoulder "Paul!" He laughed "Brother here remember? It's my job to be a pain" He said.

Her wolf just submissively lay down whimpering when she saw the fear in his eyes and lay her neck out for him. Crawling forward she lay only a few inches from his legs whining but was to scared to touch him.

Eric awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, it wasn’t anything new that he’d been trying to make sure he was perfect for her and constantly felt like he wasn’t doing enough. “Giving her the world.”
