Alex is suddenly thrown back into reality after comprehending what Erika said. The Fox rolls off of her and stands, holding a hand and helping Erika up. "So about that statue..." Alex says, walking over to the window and looking out it with the slightest hint of a smirk. It was funny, really, this was the friendliest he's ever been to anyone in a while. "I remember when I was young, I went to Arizona and got to operate on Chipawa Range, the...." Alex suddenly trails off in the middle of his anecdote, a realization striking him,
She wouldn't like that story! Shooting guns wouldn't interest another person. The thought is sudden and stops him from continuing his story. The Fox scans the ground, thinking of a different story to tell.

"Oh! When I was young, I remember going with my mom to the Surplus Warehouse to find a vest.... for my.... mag-.... magazines." Alex's smile quickly turns into a full-blown frown and he begins to try and remember another story. Come on, such an eventful life and not even a single story of going on a family outing to Disney or what have you? Alex soon finds his place back on the floor in the form of sitting with his back against the bed, brows furrowed and hand to his head. "I-I don't have any stories..." The Fox says, flabbergasted. "
My entire childhood was just guns and conflict. No sweet moments. No sappy moments. Nothing" Alex says quietly, the realization of a missing childhood dawning on him.

When Jess said nothing but shook her head in response, David knew for certain that he was right, she wasn't in a talking mood at all. But he still didn't understand. If she didn't need him, then why was she there? Didn't Jess say earlier that she was taking room for herself and that David would be sharing with three others.
Ah. Right. She said that she would be joining me after her shower. The sudden change in rooming situation didn't bother him, in fact, he was somewhat pleased. David would rather room with one other person than room with two other. The phrase, 'the more the merrier', evidently didn't apply to him with it came to sleeping quarters.

Without moving, David watched as the towel-clad girl went towards the bed and lied down carefully. It only had just occurred to him how she was wearing nothing but a towel. Maybe he should offer her a shirt or something? David recalled how she wasn't able to pack up unlike the rest of them, that would certainly explain why she was in nothing but a towel after her shower. He was going to offer, but stopped when she looked back up at him lazily and closed her eyes. She looked so peaceful at that point that David didn't want to disturb her. He kept silent as he quietly made his way to the bed and slowly sat on the edge, doing his best not to stir the seemingly sleeping girl. Emerald eyes watched the leader, observing her form. Right now she looked--peaceful, yes, but also...
fragile. Now that was a surprise. David never thought he'd think of Jess as fragile.

"Rest well, Jess. I'll handle the others when they get here," he whispered before getting up, as carefully and as quietly as he sat. Jess deserved some sleep after today.

Oddly enough, Charlotte felt more uneasy after their reasons. It was uncomfortable, to say the least. She doubted Dio's original intentions were to make them even more suspicious of each other, but her heart wasn't exactly opening up to the other two any more than before. Liars would be liars and she wasn't paying close enough attention to see if they were lying. As said before, she found this to be a huge waste of time and effort. She caught sight of Anais's cat in the passenger seat, her only solace and hope of goodness in this vehicle. The GPS beeped as another indicator that their destination was getting nearer, so she slipped on her backpack in preparation. As she moved, her glasses slipped off her head and fell back onto her face, causing a tiny noise of surprise to escape from her lips. Geez, Cooper, get it together.

She suddenly realized that they had entered the woods. Knowing Jess, a hideout in the middle of the woods wasn't the oddest place possible. Still, an image of Dio plotting the downfall of BC flashed in her mind, followed by one where Dio and Anais were both against the organization. She told herself that her suspicions were baseless and irrational, though the dark shadows blurring outside her window didn't help her thoughts. She looked out the window, pretending to be interested in the snow again when she was making an excuse to check the lock on the door. It was an easy switch-type of lock so leaving the car wouldn't be too hard as long as she could take the fall from the car. To be honest, she didn't actually believe Dio's or Anais's true intentions to be ill. In fact, she doubted her low rank or lack of abilities would even make her a candidate on their "To Kill" list. Call it instinct, stupid instinct, but she wasn't too worried about them.

"Jess sure knows how to pick a remote hideout," she muttered to herself, a comment that would have surely been lost if there were more people chatting in the car. Unfortunately, any noise they made was heard, including the ones by the cat in the front seat. She felt calmer as a cabin area came into view. At least the murder-in-an-open-clearing-in-the-woods scenario from horror movies was out of the picture, proving Dio and/or Anais were not ax murders at the moment. She caught sight of the SUV parked out front and felt instantly relieved, silently complimenting her instincts for being right...for now. She hadn't ruled them out completely yet. Despite BC being on their own as a family, she knew that survival sometimes meant looking out for yourself.

The broad smile instantly fell from Q's face when Ria asked him about being the spy. Now she thought he might be? NOW??? After she'd been the first person to blow him off? After Jess vouched for him? And--what?--his dream job?

Okay, now he was mad. He was just so done with this entire fucking day. Just when it had seemed it might be ending on a good note after all, she had to go and throw this at him.

"My dream--what are you even talking about?" he squeaked (actually squeaked because his voice had a tendency to get stupidly pitchy when he was mad, but at the moment he was too irritated with life to be embarrassed about it). He threw his hands up in the air as if he could chuck the comment straight over his head, and almost tossed his pack to the floor before his brain reminded him that some of his best kids were in there and he really needed to be careful with them. Instead, he stormed over and placed it in the desk chair before spinning back around on her.

"Do I look like I'd be in any sort of job with promotions and raises? I just turned eighteen! Today! I just had--" He turned back and fumbled with his pack again, pulling out his garbage from earlier and tossing it on the ground because, dammit, he was working up a good tantrum and that required tossing something on the ground. "--just had cupcakes out in the snow to celebrate! By myself! Because I don't know anyone who'd give me promotions or raises! Black Cat was my dream job! And I'm not the spy because I spent the last two years of my life trying to get into this stupid organization so I can actually do something with myself that might actually mean something to someone. Jesus fucking Christ, I've been dropping shit on the net and opening back doors and scrubbing digital signatures away for you guys just to help out since before I even tried applying! I didn't get paid for any of that. And, I found out where your building was a long time ago. If I wanted to give you up for some stupid reward or whatever, I would've done it back then; but no, I didn't, and after begging for eons to be on the team only to be told that I couldn't be let in until I was an adult, I finally got accepted only to have this whole goddamn thing blow up in my face! So now I'm probably going to have to go back to my shitty little life in my shitty little studio making shitty IDs for shitty people for shit money." He paused, finally running out steam. "I take that back," he mumbled. "My IDs aren't shitty."

Feeling completely deflated (and actually kind of a little better now that he'd gotten a chance to blow up at someone. He hadn't had a good emotional blow up in awhile), he leaned back against the desk only to lurch forward again as his cold, damp jeans pressed into his skin, reminding him that he was still very much wearing his snow-drenched clothes. The perk about having only been accepted that morning was that he'd already packed for essentially a weekend vacation, having enough personal items to last several days so he wouldn't have had to be going back and forth from the studio to BC Headquarters every day as he was moving in. There were a pair of warm Gudetama flannel pajama bottoms in there that were screaming for attention right about now, and far be it for Q to ignore them. Needing something else to focus his attention on anyway (because he thought he might just cry if he looked at Ria, and that would be embarrassing), he kept his stinging eyes firmly nailed to his pack as he began to dig out what he needed to shower and go to bed. Today was clearly unsalvageable at this point. Maybe tomorrow would be better.

Dio could sense the atmosphere inside the Phantom tensed right after he asked his question. Maybe that was a stupid act to do, but Dio glad he asked. He felt better, after making himself clear that he is not the traitor and listening to Anais and Charlotte's answer. It sounds genuine, genuine enough that he hopes that they are not lying. In truth, he never even suspects them as the traitor at the first place for some odd reasons.

As the snow started falling and they entered the dark woods, Dio turned on the headlamp and tries to change the subject with stupid jokes and throw in some ideas about what kind of dinner that they should have tonight- and try to convince them that he could cook some good food just as long they have the right ingredients. "It's not like we can call McDonald or pizza and ask them to deliver it here," Dio argues as he noticed that they are closing into their destination. "Oh look, we're here!"

Dio parked the car next to their Toyota, then turned to look at his passengers.

"Alright, your driver here is willing to carry all the luggage inside the cabin in this cold weather on his own... As long as you promised me that you will not tell anyone about the question i asked before..." Dio paused, then smirked. "And maybe a kiss? Heard a kiss could warm up a human's body~"

Dio laughed as he turned off the car's radio and GPS. "Nah, don't take it too seriously. You ladies go on ahead."

Kirishima.Touka.full.1742894.jpg

In the silence, Jess heard a car pull up from outside. She quickly jumped up and grabbed a set of clothes, getting dressed in one of the bathrooms and flying down the stairs toward the driveway, her socks getting drenched.

The wind was strong enough that it was a struggle to balance, and she ran towards Dio, struggling to stay upright. She quickly gave him a hug a second too long, and looked at the other girls in the car, her eyes lingering on Mira. She said nothing, giving them a nod before opening up the trunk and beginning to haul them back up into the cabin. She set the things on the living room couch, having no idea where they should go. Maybe they could stay up a little longer, play a game or watch TV. In reality, she found there was no way to sleep at this point, and she wanted the others to be miserable with her.

She turned on the TV and lied down on the couch that remained open; One had a boy on it, one had clothes and whatever else they had packed.

She closed her eyes and turned away from the screen, facing the back of the couch with her face hidden, and her wet socks on the furniture.

Jess listened to the news, before reaching towards the remote, typing in a random number.

Unmentionable noises came from the TV and she froze, typing in another number.
Why does he have channels like that?

An Australian accent came through the large speakers, talking about a lizard.

At this point, she needed background noise, and completely forgot about everyone else as she lost her train of thought, going into a stage that wasn't quite like sleep, but provided similar comforts, such as a relief from troubling thoughts. Her mind was just blank, though she could still clearly hear everything around her, the voice still discussing the wonders of the fastest lizard in the Southwest.

Ria covered her face, her shoulders shaking slightly and her teeth clenched. She finally revealed her face, and she was laughing so hard it was noiseless. Every once in a while, she managed to say something about the cause of her sudden laughter, "You.... Oh God... I, ah... You say it like... Happy birthday... Switch." She covered her face, doing the silent laughing thing again until she bounced her leg to calm down. Finally, her hands fell to her lap and she saw very clearly that she had upset him. Whether it was anger or betrayal or frustration, it was there. She was silent for a few moments, but it wasn't in her nature to be serious. She stood up quietly and wrapped her hands around his waist, though he was facing away from her, and she rocked back in forth for a few seconds, in away that resembled traditional dancing. It would probably make him angrier, like poking a bear with a stick, but it would stop him from concentrating on what he was doing. Unable to keep that awkward position, she roughly spun him around to face her and said calmly, in a quiet loud-whisper voice, "Hey, so Q, happy birthday. I forgot about that after reading it, and I should've said it then. Also, now that we're close up, I can confirm that I have a couple of inches on you. I wanted someone to accuse so it would look like I didn't do it, but then, I don't think you ever suspected me to begin with," she said it truthfully, as that was something a normal person would do, without realizing their motives. She paused, "So don't be mad at me, okay? Or I'll beat the shit out of you." It was an empty threat, and more to lighten the mood, but just to be clear, she added, "Kidding. Anyway, I don't blame you, and I don't want to blame anyone. Everyone... kind of... is my friend here. So it doesn't matter to me if it was you or Jess or Erika or David, because no matter who t is, it'll hurt like hell when I find out." She let him go, sitting back down on the bed, and rubbing her head like she had a migraine. Ria went silent, and couldn't think of anything else to say, so she left it at that.

Anais Fiennes

Location: Phantom >>> Cabin

Interaction: Charlotte (@Quarantine)

When the cabin - and the SUV came into sight, Anais relaxed by a fraction but did not move her hand from her gun's vicinity. Like hell, she was going to do that. Upon hearing Charlotte's comment about Jess' choice of a hideout, she chuckled. A cabin in the middle of the woods with possibly - most definitely actually, at this point - the traitor among them.

She's not particularly religious, but she prayed to God that there was no signal or anything so the traitor can't give out their location because she just wants to rest. Rest, and not sleep because Anais knew she won't get any shut eye at all since she's in an unfamiliar setting. That and the fact that they could be tracked by the authorities anytime.

When they pulled up to the cabin, Dio made a comment about a kiss, making the redhead let out a disbelieving laugh,
"Dream on, Dio." She held Scout tightly so he wouldn't jump into the snow and slid out of the car, hauling her rifle over her shoulder. Goddamn, her sneakers weren't made for the cold.

About to open the trunk, Anais heard the door open, revealing Jess.
"Oh, hey, we-" She didn't get to finish as the whirlwind she knew as the leader of the Black Cat quickly moved about, going from hugging Dio to hauling some of their luggage into the cabin all within the span of a few seconds. "Someone's in a rush." Anais murmured under her breath as she took her own backpack and suitcase out of the trunk. The stress of the situation is, without a doubt, bearing down on the younger woman, and probably in a much more difficult manner considering her position.

Shrugging, the fox walked up to the cabin, hating every single step. By the time she reached the porch, she was freezing and her arm all scratched up because of Scout squirming in her hold. If she didn't love the Maine coon to the moon and back, she'd probably have left him in the headquarters. As soon as she entered the cabin, she let Scout down, watching in amusement as the cat sauntered away from her like he owned the place and hoping that he won't find a way to get out into the snow. She began to look for a place to settle down in and shower too, not bothering to ask Jess because the poor woman just looked so tired.

If she cock-blocks anyone in the process of looking for a room, Anais thinks to herself as she wandered further into the place, that's their fault for not locking the door. She paused a bit after that train of thought. Were there even any couples in the organization? Shaking her head, Anais opened a random door and let out a groan. Who the fuck has an office in the middle of the woods?

Charlotte managed to keep a less-than-nice reply to herself, pursing her lips so it wouldn't slip out. She wasn't a flirt so she constantly hoped that everyone left their flirtatious comments at home. Unfortunately, as Dio showed, this wasn't the case. "I don't think that's how kisses work," she replied with an unreadable expression. She added, significantly gentler, "And I didn't plan on mentioning your question again anyways." With that, she leaned over and opened the car door, only to be greeted by the chilly weather. It wasn't pleasant to begin with and the snow had made it exponentially worse. She was about to add that she didn't need help with her luggage. She was planning on taking what she needed and leaving the luggage in the trunk. It wasn't heavy but just a hassle. Then she saw Jess walk out, giving a hug to Dio and a look for the rest of them. Truthfully the blonde would not have minded a comforting hug but she didn't arrive just to complain about physical contact. From Jess's more casual attire, she guessed that the others had also settled in for the night. It was about an hour since the whole ordeal began but it felt like years. Maybe what they said about fun and time flying was true, because Charlotte was having an awful day (correction: night) and could already feel her youth running away.

Before she knew it, her luggage was already in someone else's hands and being brought to the living room of the cabin. She wasn't sure if it was Dio or Jess but still felt the urge to do it herself. It was too late, since it was already in the cabin so she just walked as quickly as she could into the cabin, doing her best to ignore the annoying amount of snow building up outside. She didn't care how many paintings people showed her of fluffy snow, this stuff was nasty and those artists probably never saw it in its true form. She walked to the living room and grabbed her duffel suitcase from one of the couches. She realized Jess was changing the channel at rapid speed after somehow landing on a sketchy channel but remained unfazed even as an Australian accent came on, a nature channel that wasn't much better than the previous one (in her humble opinion). Some things were just best left unmentioned, like Dio's question.
"If you need me , I'm just going to settle in one of the rooms, Jess," she said as she rolled her luggage away from the nature show on the TV.

She wandered through the corridor before locating a room that seemed untouched. She heard small whispers and murmurings as she passed several of the rooms, a sign that marked the restless nature of Black Cat. She wondered if Jess had assigned rooms to them, seeing that there weren't enough for all of them to rest in solitude. If so, the leader didn't mention it to them and she hadn't bothered to ask. With her disturbingly long nap from earlier that night, she could probably pull an all nighter but that was a thought for later. She grabbed some clothes from her luggage and went to take a shower, locking the door before doing so. She wasn't sure where things were headed but running away didn't guarantee a shower every day and she was not going to be interrupted. After the shower and usual night routines, she got dressed and went to back to the bed in the room. She wasn't sure if someone else needed to share a bed with her but kept the door cautiously locked. If they needed her, they would have to pick the lock or knock loudly. She was positive most, if not all, of the others knew how to pick a lock.

Now relaxed and makeup free, she absentmindedly took out a pencil and sketchpad from her backpack after putting away everything else. She wasn't even dressed in sleepwear. With everything packed and wearing casual clothes, she was ready to run at a moment's notice. The thought of an all nighter still loomed over her but that wasn't her intention when taking out her drawing equipment. She just wasn't sleepy. Maybe tired, but definitely not sleepy. Normally she would sketch, draw, or watch TV until she felt drowsy. She wasn't about to endure an Australian nature show even if she held Jess in high regard. She was flat on her stomach as she began to sketch. Initially she had wanted to do something with their little adventure from today, but that would only add to the evidence pile if they were caught. Instead, she remembered hearing something about lizards from the Australian show and used it as a source of inspiration.

Erika watched him carefully, drawing her knees up to her chest. She finally said, "My childhood consisted of sappy, sweet moments. I'm not going to say otherwise, or I'd be lying." She looked at the beam of moonlight, which had become darker as the blizzard worsened.

She was afraid of the dark, terribly. Even in broad daylight, if someone covered her eyes to surprise her, or as a joke, she would become frightened, having no idea where she was or what surrounded her. It was a sort of handicap, and restricted some of the things she did. She didn't drive at night, she didn't walk at night, she didn't go outside at night, she didn't do anything but sleep at night.

Truly, she reasoned, darkness was nothing. It wasn't an object or a presence. It was just an absence of light.

Erika continued, her eyes staying on the strip of dim light cutting across the room, "I don't remember much of it because none of it was significant enough. And the things I do remember aren't trips to the fair or visiting the beach. It was doing nothing but spending time with people that loved me. That's all that mattered, and its the same way now. I just need to be with someone that
loves me." She said after a moment, her voice changing a bit, "That's why I joined Black Cat, in hindsight. Somehow, it made sense that being with a group would mean that I'd grow close to them, And I did. So now the moments I spend with you guys aren't so sweet. But that doesn't make them worthless. Just surviving is something few take into consideration."

Erika's eyes darted back up at Alex, and her eyes adjusted to the light, or lack thereof. She carefully got up, brushing Alex gently as she moved past him and got into the bed. The girl closed her eyes, not daring to open them again, or she might not have been able to sleep.

David had taken to sitting on the vacant armchair in the room and staring out the window. He'd been thinking--as he always does whenever silence befalls him. He was pondering about the whole mess, something which he seemed to be doing since Cedric called him while he was with Charlotte on the way to the party. However, unlike before, David didn't think about the people he left behind. Rather, he thought about who the spy could be. Suspicion could easily be pinned onto Q, seeing as how he was the newest member. But he'd already established in his mind that it wasn't him. Who else could it be? David unconsciously frowned as he realised that there was no other person he could think of. He didn't know the others well enough to be able to say who had a motive, and he hadn't seen any indications from any of them yet--though to be fair, David wasn't really looking; he should've been though.

Just then, he heard the sound of a vehicle coming to a halt.
Ah, looks like they're here. David stood up and was about to head down to inform them of how Jess was asleep and that there will be some room sharing that would be happening, when their leader suddenly bolted out of bed and left the room. He merely stared at the door as his brain processed what just happened. Shaking his head, he decided that it was no use trying to understand what just happened. David followed suit and headed downstairs to meet the others.

As he was heading down the stairs, he passed by a cat clamoring up the steps, seemingly without a care in the world. The blond couldn't help the small smile that escaped his lips. The only person he knew in Black Cat to own a pet was Anais, the cat was probably hers. The faint smile on his face didn't last long, however. It fell upon reaching the bottom of the stairwell and into stepping into the living are. The sight he saw when he got there was... odd, very odd. Sprawled on the formerly unoccupied sofa was Jess, holding the remote and flipping through channels. That wasn't the oddest part about it though, it was she was facing the back of the sofa, not really watching whatever it was that was on...
Is that a lizard? he mentally asked himself upon stealing a glance at the TV. David heaved a heavy sigh. What the hell was going on with Jess? Was it all the stress finally accumulating in her. He was about to tell her to go back up and sleep on the bed, but decided against it. It looked like she was comfortable where she was so he didn't deign to bother her anymore.

"If you need me, I'm just going to settle in one of the rooms, Jess," Charlotte said before making her way to one of the bedrooms. David merely nodded at this and paid no extra attention to her. It wasn't because he was trying to be rude, but rather, he was simply more curious (and worried) about Jess at the moment. Besides, it wasn't him being addressed, it was Jess. Without turning his gaze away from their seemingly slumbering leader, David went up to Dio. "Is it just me or is Jess acting a bit weird?" He asked, still looking at their leader on the sofa for a few more seconds before turning his gaze to the Fox before him. "You must be tired from that long ride. There aren't enough rooms for all of us to take one each. Jess mentioned that I was going to be rooming with two others, once you guys got here. She didn't specify who though." David shrugged. "Seeing as everyone else has already been roomed... or passed out somewhere" he indicated to Dakota on the sofa as he said the last part before continuing, "And Charlotte has already gone and taken a room already, that just leaves you and Anais." When he realised who the other individual left was, David could help but feel his mood uplift and brighten. This was soon squelched though, when he found that the aforementioned redhead was no where in sight. He turned his head, right and left, as he looked and then frowned slightly. "Where's Ana?" The blond sighed, knowing the likely answer. "I'll look for her. Room is third door on the left." Without saying another word, he went on his way to look for the female Fox.

Surprisingly, for a large cabin, people didn't take long to find. He found Anais on his second try--either David was a good hide and seek player, or the cabin simply wasn't as large as he originally thought. She stood there in what seemed to be an office.
"Ana, don't tell me you're secretly a workaholic," he said with an amused expression on his face. "I'm just kidding. Come on. Let's get you to a room."

Q pursed his lips as she laughed at him (yeah, laugh, everyone does), getting frustrated as he pulled out his toothbrush and then accidentally dropped it into the bowels of the main pouch of his pack. He cursed slightly under his breath as he moved to dig it out, but froze the instant he felt her hands slide around his waist. His brain went into hyperactive dumb mode again, wondering what she was doing, if he should move away, if this should be something he was angry at, if he should not be angry because someone was hugging him and he hadn't felt that in a long time, and was she making him dance? and should he worry that she was probably getting her clothes wet hugging on his damp sweater?

"Hey, so Q, happy birthday."

He bit his lip as she kept talking, explaining herself, feeling the tension drain out of him a little at a time as she kept going, his irritation being replaced with something else entirely. Ah, shame, his lifelong friend. God, he was an idiot, throwing a stupid fit over an accusation that even he had thought was logical to begin with, and dumping his stupid, emo, wah, nobody loves me problems on her. He'd been betrayed by a stranger. Big deal. She'd been betrayed by family. But there she was, catering to him, wishing him a happy birthday and sounding like she actually meant it while all he could do was stand there and try not to cry as he secretly wallowed in her physical touch.

Then all too quickly it was gone, and he felt cold all over again, but he couldn't exactly be like, "Hey, so I'm feeling kind of like a big crybaby right now, and you seem to be okay with hugging and stuff, so can you just, like, hold onto me for a little while until I fall asleep? It'll be totally platonic. I just haven't had much real human contact for awhile and I'm kind of craving it."

He found his toothbrush. Small miracles.

"Sorry," he choked out, his voice husky as it worked its way past the tightness in his throat. He cleared it and tried again, actually turning his head just a little over his shoulder to almost look at her. "I don't...don't usually get upset like that. I'm a little overwhelmed, I guess, with everything. But that's no excuse." Sucking in a breath, he turned around and did something that would probably make her laugh at him again because it always made people laugh unless they had an upbringing similar to his--his hands now full of everything he needed for the shower, he bent over a little bit and ducked his head in a formal bow, a show of respect that his father had instilled in him since before he could even remember, but that he usually didn't bust out unless he was with other people of Asian decent. That was usually for show, something he did to make his father and his business partners happy. Now, probably for the first time in his life, he put actual meaning behind the traditional gesture. "Thank you, Ria. For helping me acclimate and everything. And for being nice to me...even though I know I'm just an assignment. I know you don't have to be, so I want you to know that I appreciate it."

Feeling his face heating up again, he turned and slipped out the door to head towards the shower. There was some sort of commotion going on downstairs, but he didn't really care about that at the moment. He just wanted to get out of his wet clothes, clean himself up, curl up under some warm blankets, and pretend the world didn't exist for a night.

Oh, jacuzzi tub, he grinned just slightly as he closed himself into the nearest bathroom. Cool. Maybe he'd play in that for a little while and Ria would be asleep by the time he got out. Then in the morning he could start fresh and try this whole people-ing thing all over again. Yeah. That sounded like a good plan. This would all blow over and everything would be okay. It was his birthday wish after all.

"No kisses?" Dio pouted, thought he already know this result. "Gee, you girls are colder than the weather outside."

He turned off the engine and walked out, sneezing as soon as the cold wind hit him. He was just about to make his way to the back of the car when he noticed someone running out of the cabin and struggling to go against the wind to reach them. Dio quickly recognized Jess and surprised when she throw her arms around his waist and hugged him out of nowhere.

"Boss?" He asked, but the only answer he got is a nod and silence. And then, before he or anyone could stop her, she went to grab their luggage and singlehandedly carry it all inside the cabin.

Dio waited after Anais close the trunk before locking the car, then rushes inside the warm cabin. He sneezes again inside and quickly knew that he should take a bath and drink some hot before the cold gets him. Inside, he found Jess frantically pressing the remote button and changing the TV channels before settling for a nature show narrated by an Australian.

Anais disappeared, probably wander off to check the insides of their new hideout. Charlotte took her luggage and quickly went on her way, as David appeared from the corner of his eyes.

"Is it just me or is Jess acting a bit weird?" He asked, looking at their leader on the sofa for a few more seconds before turning his gaze Dio. "You must be tired from that long ride. There aren't enough rooms for all of us to take one each. Jess mentioned that I was going to be rooming with two others, once you guys got here. She didn't specify who though."

He shrugged. "Seeing as everyone else has already been roomed... or passed out somewhere" he indicated to Dakota on the sofa as he said the last part before continuing, "And Charlotte has already gone and taken a room already, that just leaves you and Anais."

"Dang. Don't you think Anais could share a room with Charlotte? No offense but i got the feeling that Anais's cat would be a better roommate for me." Dio suggested, as David turned his head right and left and suddenly frowned.

"Where's Ana?" Dio hunched his shoulders as an answer. "I'll look for her. Room is third door on the left."

"You hear me, pretty boy. Try to ask her to share a room with Charlotte." Dio clicked his tongue and took his luggage, leaving the bag containing Alex's belonging in the couch. He glanced at Jess, but decided to let her be for tonight. Maybe tomorrow she'll return to her normal, composed self. It's has been a crazy night.

Soon, Dio found himself inside the room David assigned him to. It's not big but not small either, and certainly enough for two. Dio placed his bag on a table, taking out the necessary items for a shower. After he did, he quickly left his room and head to find the kitchen. He's hungry, he needs food. Happy tummy happy Dio.

Action: Waking Up

Mood: Calm

Interacting With: Q

Time: 8:42

She thought he was putting himself down a bit too much, and was surprised when Q suddenly moved.

Oh.

She knew the gesture, as she had seen her parents do it on serious occasions, but they never really made her practice it. And it had never happened to her by someone outside of the family, which was on rare occasions.

Still, she understood the meaning, and held her breath for a few seconds, with a mix of feelings she couldn't take care of so late at night.

She wanted to say something when he thanked her, but she couldn't make words of it. After he left, Ria suddenly felt heavy and weak, collapsing onto the bed. She closed her eyes, falling into a dreamless sleep.

Ria woke up with a stabbing pain in her rib cage.
Someone's shot me, she thought immediately. Her eyes flew open and she went into a sitting position. She came to the conclusion that she'd fallen off her bed, rolling around too much in her sleep.

Her eyes fell onto what had caused her so much pain, finding her Alienware laptop, which she had placed beside her just in case she wanted to look up something... in the middle of the night. Why had she put it there?

Ria was more worried about her potentially cracked ribs than the beast she called her computer. Even so, she did a mandatory check to make sure it was functioning. The ports looked okay, but as she opened up the computer, she let out a cry of shock and brought her finger to touch the shattered screen, which produced dim light, and a mix of colors along the dark cracks. A few keys had broken off, and fell into her lap. She just sat there, before bringing the computer to the window so it could have a proper funeral. Lifting the window, which had frosted shut, she looked down to the driveway, which was free of snow, either from being salted of manually removed, she didn't care.

The computer's screen could be replaced, easily, but that meant buying the parts, and
maybe figuring out how to put it back together. And she wanted to break something.

After a few seconds, she gently tossed he computer out, which made a sound not unlike a chain getting stuck in metal gears, harsh and causing a sense of dread. She looked at the pieces, before shutting the window and looking up at where Q was, unsure if she wanted him to be awake or not.

Ah, it was cold! Why did it feel like someone had opened a freezer next to his face all of a sudden?

Q groaned and curled himself under his blankets a little tighter for a moment before awareness started to take hold a little more, his face pressing up against the wood--wood what? Why was there wood in his bed? It took a moment for his tired brain to remember where he was and the events of the day before. Right. Black Cat. Cabin. Bunkbed. Ria was sleeping underneath him (which she thankfully had been when he'd returned to the room the night before after he'd sat in the tub long enough to make his skin all raisiny).

But why was it so cold?

He blinked open his eyes and rolled over, startled a little to see that Ria was awake and standing over near the window. Had she opened it? Must have. That would definitely explain the blast of frozen tundra that had woken him up.

Frozen...

He bolted upright and practically fell on his face jumping down from the bed. "How much?" he asked excitedly, careening over to the window without waiting for an answer. "Oh, whoa!" he exclaimed as he looked out over the landscape, seeing it completely blanketed in white. "Whoa, whoa, whoa!"

He hadn't seen that much snow in...he couldn't even remember when! Oh, it was bunched up along the windowsill...tempting....tempting....yes. He needed to. Sometimes you gotta. Without putting much more thought into it than that, he pushed open the window just a little bit and swiped up a handful of snow, then threw it right in Ria's face.

She's going to kill you.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry," he laughed even as he was running away, grabbing his jacket out of his bag as he literally slid past it, dumping a bunch of his other clothes to the floor in the process. He'd pick it up later. He barely remembered to grab up his sneakers before he launched out the door, hopping into them as he sprinted down the stairs towards the kitchen (he hadn't actually had anything for dinner last night--cupcakes didn't count). There were bananas on the counter, so he snagged one of them as he was slipping his sleeves into his jacket and was out into the snow a moment later.

"Fuck me!" he cringed as he stepped into it and sank into the snow bank that had piled up against the door. It came well over his ankles, biting into his sockless skin underneath his pajama bottoms. Ah well, too late to fix that now. He clambered out of it until he reached the driveway that had already been cleared by someone--probably the owner of the house--shook his legs out, and looked around for...ah! Shovel! There it was! Oh yeah, he was going to build a snow fort to end all snow forts. Maybe he'd build two...ya know, in case someone wanted to come out and snowball war with him or something. It wasn't entirely impossible. Someone else had to like the snow as much as him.

Alex listens with the same frown he dawned just a couple of seconds ago. The thought of joining a vigilante justice group to feel loved seemed like an extreme that the Fox assumed barely anyone would take, much less a person with a particularly good life like Erika. But it was understandable, at the very least; for what is life without love? (Or therefore, too much love?) Alex shakes his head, he'll have to ponder what his childhood really was tonight, Erika was going to sleep and he should too. Alex climbs back into the bed, hopping under the covers and facing away from Erika. "Good night, see you tomorrow." And with that, Alex closes his eyes and drifts to sleep.

As Alex wakes up, he refuses to open his eyes just yet in an attempt to savor the fleeting moments of sleep that he had.
Something smells nice. Alex thinks, realizing that there was a very perfume-y smell in the air. Alex opens his eyes slowly to find brown. Nothing but a brown color was cast over his eyes. There was also a distinct itchy feeling all over his face, like someone laid a bunch of dry spaghetti all over his face, but when he opened his mouth to yawn, Alex realizes what it was, right as his mouth is filled with hair. The Fox immediately rolls over, trying to free himself from this mask that was preventing him from breathing. After he releases himself from the clutches of her hair, Alex spends a minute or two plucking hair out of his mouth and off of his face.

During the night, Alex or Erika must have moved and gotten closer or rolled or something along those lines, one thing leads to another, and boom, mother nature's natural suffocating plastic bag. Alex gets up and walks to the door, not wanting to wake Erika, he makes sure to move lightly as he exits the room. However, this was probably all for not as that new guy goes flying out of the door down the hallway, laughing like a madman and apologizing like a saint. Curious and not all-too-hungry, Alex strolls down the hallway and knocks on the door before turning into the room and seeing...
her. Ria, the one that he despised for her reckless behavior (Although way less than he despised Dakota, that little bitch.).

The Fox had planned to turn around and walk out, but something kept his feet planted there. The word for such a feeling is
guilt which slowly snuck its way into Alex's chest and sat there, playing the strings known as memories of all the shitty things he's done to her. Although, it did concern him as to why she had snow on her face and on the floor, it didn't bother him enough to ask. "So.... Having fun with the kid?" Alex asks, trying to make small talk. "Why the hell is the window open?" Alex asks, now noticing the opened glass pane that let in the cool breeze that singed Alex's nose as he leaned on the doorway with his arms crossed.

Anais had been staring down at the puddles she was making - damn it, her sneakers were going to be ruined - when David came up behind her, making her jump slightly. Here was a man who can spin tales with saccharine words. The corner of her mouth twitched downwards just before she turned to him with a slight smile on her face,
"My secret has been compromised."

Shifting the weight of her rifle, Anais continued,
"I just need a place to store my luggage in; I didn't want to leave it in the living room." Arguably, it would be more practical to have her things in the living room for a quick getaway, but the thought of leaving her shit where people can just come and go did not sound pleasing at all.

Following David to her designated room, she thanked him and bid him goodnight before setting down her luggage by one of the beds and making a beeline to the bathroom. She then changed into a plain black t-shirt and a pair of grey sweat pants and slipped a small handgun into the waistband of her pants. After making sure she wasn't about to go empty handed into an unfamiliar house, she stalked out of her room barefoot in search for Scout.

Anais turned back to her room immediately as her footsteps resonated in the empty hallway. Taking out a pair of earphones and a music player, she returned to completing her objective as she slipped the earphones on.

When she found Scout curled up on an armchair in the same office she found, the redhead shook her head and picked him up before sitting down cross-legged on the same armchair. She began running her fingers through the Maine coon's fur as it settled into her lap. Sighing contentedly, she reached for the nearest book without moving too much so not to disturb Scout and began reading into the night.

A couple of hours, several instances of dozing off, and two books later, Anais' head snapped up when she heard someone running down the hall while laughing.
"The fuck..." Looking up at the nearest clock, her eyebrows raised in surprise. "Huh, it's been a couple of hours already." She murmured to herself as she shut the book her was reading close. Placing the book on the coffee table, the Fox stood up and stretched her arms above her head.

Heading out to the hallway, she caught sight of Alex walking into one of the rooms. He looked pretty okay for someone who got shot less than twelve hours ago. Shrugging, Anais walked down the hallway to the stairs with the intention to get some food. In her haste to get some rest last night, she had completely forgotten to eat.

Charlotte never expected to feel drowsy, much less doze off. However, the messily gathered blankets cocooning her was enough evidence of her short nap. Apparently she had felt too cold in the last couple of hours and aggressively pulled the blankets around her. Luckily, it wasn't deep or long enough to have any drastic impact on her mood. She was merely tired, a side effect that would wear off over time. She slowly unraveled the blankets from her body in hopes of retaining some warmth, grunting in displeasure as her notebook and pencil tumbled to the ground. The drawing she did before falling asleep was still fresh. It was a detailed and realistic drawing of a lizard, as inspired by the Australian nature show Jess was watching. She was quite a talented artist and had briefly considered turning it into a career before opening her restaurant. Now it was just hobby.

She stretched for a couple of moments, smoothing back stray strands of hair. Upon arrival, her hair had been slightly damp from last night's snow but now it was normal and dry. Speaking of the snow from last night, a quick glance out her window showed that the snow was even heavier than she remembered. Cursing softly, she silently wished they would not have to be outside for long today. She had to halt mid-stretch as a loud racket sped past her doorway. She caught laughter mixed with faint apologies. Curious, she unlocked the door and peeked out, only to see Q's retreating figure as he raced towards the doorway. Her lips quirked up and a soft, amused laugh escaped her, genuinely glad at least one person was having fun. She wasn't sure how young he was, but his behavior and youthful appearance certainly placed him below her in the age range. She heard Alex conversing with someone nearby but didn't think much of it. So everyone else was starting to wake up, too.
Fantastic. She ran a hand through her hair before heading back into her room, leaving the door slightly ajar.

She had prepared herself for a hectic night and day, so she had fallen asleep in casual clothes. She wore white skinny jeans, a cream colored baggy sweater, and socks, with her brown coat draped on a chair in the room. She had even taken an extra precaution and kept her pocketknife on her. She liked to keep her pocketknife like a necklace around her neck on a chain, currently completely concealed by the slightly baggy sweater. When she bought it, she had purposely gotten one that was a smaller and easy to hide underneath clothing, capable of being worn like a pendant, and styled in a way where she could argue it was an accessory if caught. Besides, it was typically only decorative anyways, since she had never hurt someone with it. So far, it's only uses were cutting fruit or picking locks. In fact, it's main use was picking locks and she was going to stick with that story if someone else caught her with it. Still, Dio's question about the traitor left her uneasy and she didn't want to go around without some weaponry. And she wasn't about to carry her pistol around when she didn't know how to use it well.

She put on her shoes, grabbed her things and left her room. First, she went to the living room and tossed her luggage, backpack, and coat onto the couch from last night. Then she headed into the kitchen with her sketchbook and pencil in hand, the drawing from last night still on the first page.
To her surprise, Anais was already there. "Oh, good morning," she said, ironic since she hated mornings. If she had slept any longer, she would be in a horrible mood. "How'd you sleep?" She made a mental note that Anais's cat was nowhere to be seen, catching her disappointment before it registered on her face. She placed her notebook, the pencil clipped onto the page, on the counter as she scanned the fridge's contents. She was about to grab the eggs to make something before changing her mind to cereal instead. Oddly enough, she felt that cereal wouldn't be missed as much as eggs. Afterwards, she washed some strawberries, leaving a bowl of them next to her. She cut and added strawberries and bananas to her cereal before beginning to eat. She moved confidently around the kitchen. It dawned on her that she hadn't eaten for a while, definitely not last night. If she suspected Anais, she was tired and hungry enough to not care at the moment. She began to embellish her drawing using her right hand absentmindedly while eating with her left. She wasn't left handed at all but eating was a simple enough task for her non-dominant hand. "Where's your cat? I miss having him around," she said absentmindedly to Anais, glancing up at the later. Might as well feed her curiosity while she had the chance, before anyone else came.

Upon reaching the kitchen, Anais frowned at the open door and shivered as the cold wind blew inside. She walked towards the door with the intention of closing it when she caught sight of - hurried? - footsteps freshly imprinted on the snow. Curling her toes, she braced herself as she closed the door, not locking it in case the person who went out come rushing back in. They must have forgotten something in one of the vehicles.

Turning on her heel, Anais found herself looking at Charlotte, all ready for the day.
"Hey, good morning," she chimed back as she waited for Charlotte to finish in the fridge, shifting her weight to the balls of her feet, "I didn't sleep." She paused, "Well, I did doze off a few times, but I stayed up most part of the night. I hope you slept well." Glancing at the younger woman out of the corner of her eye, she stepped up to the fridge and began rummaging through its contents.

French toast sounds easier to do than pancakes, but then oatmeal is even easier to do. She was tempted to just get some protein bar and be done with it, but the thought of eating a protein bar so early in the morning did not sound appetising at all. Closing the fridge with a shut, she quickly began to heat water in the electric kettle and looked around for the oats.

As the redhead pulled a package of instant oats triumphantly from one of the cupboard, Charoltte asked about Scout. A frown tugged at Anais' mouth,
"Scout took off from my spot about an hour ago, I presume he's surveying the proper..." She trailed off mid-sentence as her eyes widened in horror.

The door had been left open when someone went out.

A string of curses that would make a sailor blush spilled from her lips while she dropped the bag of instant oats on one of the counters and dashed towards the door, flinging it open. She paid no mind to the cold as her gaze darted around, checking for any sign of the cat. When she heard a curious meow from behind her, Anais' shoulders sagged in relief. She quickly shut the door and turned, green eyes narrowing at the sight of Scout by the door to the living room before he trotted off again.

Looking up at Charlotte, Anais grinned rather sheepishly before she turned back to preparing her breakfast,
"I honestly panicked and thought that he might have gone out." Then she added under her breath, "I definitely don't need that added stress."

She smirked, seeing Q so excited to be that close to mountains of snow. The storm was as if it never happened, and the light went through the clear piles, making it look more like glitter than powdery snow.

Ria was about to talk, when she got a face full of a cold, wet substance. The girl opened her eyes, seeing nothing but white, and swatted the snow off her face, seeing that Q had already disappeared down the hallway.

"You little shit," she growled, unable to keep her expression unamused and furious. As she pulled her Converse on, Ria heard him through the house, and eventually outside. Looking out her window, she saw him frolicking in the white powder.

Alex came in and said something, but she simply replied with, "
Not now. He wants me to kick his ass."

Ria put her knee on the window sill, contemplating her next actions. After a few seconds, she crawled through the opening, immediately much colder. She stood up and was about to kick snow at him and make a declaration, when she felt a second of unease, and a blanket of snow fell, taking her with it.

The girl grabbed the edge of the roof, swinging on it for a few seconds before realizing it
probably wouldn't hurt, she dropped down onto the ground, landing painlessly and soundlessly on her butt. She immediately stood up, storming towards him, and shoving him off the driveway and into the bank of snow.

Ria mercilessly grabbed a handful of snow and planted it in his face, saying in a high-pitched voice, "
Sorry." The girl turned away from him, straightening the cuffs of her overcoat professionally, like she had just assassinated someone and got away with it.

Q had just grabbed the shovel and was plotting out the best place to build his fort when he suddenly got shoved down from behind, falling straight into the pile of snow that was built up along the driveway. It was so deep he practically disappeared in it, but he didn't even have time to contemplate what had just happened when a wad of snow was pressed straight into his face, making his nose sting instantly.

"Sorry," he heard Ria sass. Jesus, she had come out of fucking nowhere!

He sat blinking in shock for a second, his ass cold and his hands already going numb, but a second later a slow smile began to spread across his face. He moved to get up, but found that when he pressed his hands into the snow beside him to push himself out of the fluff, they just uselessly sank down in. Still, not wanting to be completely bested, he scooped an armful of it up and hurled it back at Ria. Sadly it only barely glanced off her arm, his aim being off with his lack of leverage from where he was half buried and only sinking further in with all his movement. This wouldn't do.

"Ria, help!" he laughed, feeling very much like a turtle caught upside down. Ah, he did not have on enough clothes for this! "Please! Truce! It's fucking freezing!" His teeth were already starting to chatter!

She felt genuinely concerned for a moment before saying, "Oh no! I guess that means you'll have to use one of my little pretty dresses until we wash your clothes." She assumed it was his last pair, since he didn't have anything at the apartment building, just a bag. If not, she could hide them.

As if in an act of pity, she reached for his hands and pulled pathetically, hardly even a tug, before letting go and panting, saying, "
What a sad, sad day. I just woke up, so I don't have my strength. Maybe you shouldn't have attacked me so early in the morning."

She was going a bit too far. Letting out a sigh and mumbling, "You deserve it," she grabbed his hands once more, quickly pulling him out at the cost of her own balance.

Ria fell onto the driveway, and quickly grabbed onto Q's legs, pulling him down too so she didn't have to suffer alone.

She looked at the trees' bare branches for a few moments, before sitting up and saying bluntly, in an exhausted tone "
I think that's enough outdoor time for me." Offering a hand to Q, she quickly looked back up at the window and doorway to see if anyone had seen their fiasco, before glancing back down at her friend.

Alex's mouth hangs open as Ria jumps out the window. The Fox was already making his way towards the door downstairs by the time Ria had fallen into the snow. As Alex opens the door, he is treated to Q launching a counter-attack against Ria and both of them stumbling around like a couple of idiots. Alex opens his mouth to scold both of them but before the noises known as a voice can leave his mouth, The Fox has a memory come back to him in the form of a stab-like reminder.
Change. Be happy. The three words ran through his mind, reminding him of the previous night. For Erika, for fuck's sake. Alex's voice trembles as he persists onward with saying words. "H----Ey! You two! Wha-.... Get inside!" Alex exclaims, trying to keep his voice at a normal volume while plastering the fakest-looking smile on his face. "Now!..... Before you get cold!" The Fox says, trying to conceal his anger.

After hearing Ria's tease, Alex frowns, crossing his arms in an attempt to keep warm. "Don't worry.... uh..... guy. The owner has some guest clothes we can use. They're dry." Alex says, now coming off of his rage.

Charlotte added some more details as she listened to Anais answer about Scout, pleased that she hadn't offended or insulted anyone yet. This was the first real "bonding experience" she was getting many of Black Cat and the multiple ways this could go wrong was a little terrifying. "Scout took off from my spot about an hour ago, I presume he's surveying the proper..." The sentence finished with an impressive list of curses, some of which Charlotte had not even heard of, followed by the sound of something being dropped on the counter. The blonde looked up curiously to find Anais gone from her previous spot, as if she had disappeared into thin air. The bag of oats sagged against the counter without the support of human hands, some of its contents spilled out. Well, alright then. Your conversation skills must be horrific to these members of Black Cat. They're just dying to get away from you. However, her sarcasm and confusion didn't last long as the door opened with a whoosh and a blast of cold air seeped into the cabin. She heard more ruckus from whoever was outside, presumably Q, and exhaled in relief when the door audibly closed.

Anais's cat skittered past her through the kitchen with more confidence than even she could muster. A couple moments later, Anais herself was back at the counter and preparing breakfast again as if nothing happened, explaining that she was just worried about her cat. "He seems to know what he's doing," she replied. "He just scurried past into another room." The owner and feline seemed to have a very strong bond, basically inseparable. A pang of jealousy hit her as she realized no one really, truly loved her, even on the most basic owner-pet level. Of course BC was a family of some sort but did any of them actually care for her? That wasn't a question she knew the answer to. Throw in the traitor issue and everything was basically an unsettled mess. Her parents hadn't tried to contact her and she knew her dad was constantly glued to the TV while her mom kept up with the local news. Despite their strained relationship, she had expected them to reach out upon hearing the big news. If one of them died, she would show up to their funeral. Probably an unfair comparison since she hadn't died but it hurt nonetheless. Fortunately, the jealousy didn't last long. Charlotte had accepted the world's cruelty a long time ago, a choice that ultimately left her alone in its chaos.

The door opened again, the noise familiar to her now. She faintly heard someone talking by the doorway and was promptly reminded of the awful amount of snow in the driveway.
"I hope the snow isn't too deep," she said, visibly shuddering at the mention of snow and as the cold from outside began to reach farther into the kitchen. "It could be bad if we're driving somewhere, which I hope we are." She had said "if" without even thinking about it but instantly felt embarrassed about it. As if Jess was going to make them walk deeper into the forest and leave their vehicles behind. Then again, she was too nervous to rule it out completely. "Where do you think we're headed next?" The cabin had been a wild card, though a pleasant wild card. She wasn't sure where Jess's head was at right now and wanted some insight from someone else. Being stuck with her own thoughts was too much at times.

Jess sat up, no more refreshed than she was when she lied down, and very, very dizzy. Time had passed like lightning, as she felt almost nothing until now, when she opened her eyes like something that decided it was done hibernating. This was very strange.

Making her way to the front door, where she heard voices, she swung it open, and offered Ria and Q a playful salute.

They were adorable. And she felt old now.

And then, all at once, Jess was certain who it was... and she didn't care. She would just watch.

Perhaps she was thinking all that time. Or maybe she fell asleep at one time, and dreamt of it. That had happened a few times, she fell asleep with a question on her mind, and when she woke up, it was answered.

After a moment of thought, she closed the door, sending the pair a smile as she did so. Jess was hit hard with hunger, and as she did so, she went to the kitchen, her eyes falling immediately on the blood, which was dried for the most part. She avoided the girls and grabbed a kitchen towel, cleaning it up discreetly, and throwing it away right after. Jess grabbed an apple and a knife, and went to the living room, without acknowledging the other two once.

Sitting down in the living room floor, she moved up to the coffee table, placing a hand down and gently running the blade over her second and middle finger. Her mind was blank, but she was aware of the actions she was taking. Her thoughts ran over the sharpness of the blade, and she ran her finger along the edge, pulling down quickly and firmly to create a wound, which, though not visible, she had cut to the bone.

She dropped the blade of shock, feeling two arms wrap around her waist.

Jess said quickly, "

Jess knocked once on Erika's door before coming in, her eyes darting around the room before resting on Erika.

"
