Fantasy A Time of Kings

Enigma looks at the guard who had yelled at him. He wasn't in the mood to be disrespecting. He held his hand at out towards him. He began preparing a magical grip, which acting as an invisible hand for him. He doesn't notice Ava approaching the gate. He closes his hand in a fist, the hand's response was delayed. But after a couple of seconds, the fingers swiftly began to close over the guards torso. @Foxgirl Jay

Yaro nodded, placing his blade back in it's hilt. Hearing yelling however, Yaro just gave Robin a curious look, before stepping outside, placing his mask back over his face, and lifting up his black hood. Quickly stepping out, he ran towards where he heard the yelling, and saw the scene. Seeing the man inching closer towards the guard's torso, Yaro walked over. "Excuse me, but is there a problem?"Yaro asked the guard, his hand on his blade.

"It's a bit early to be yelling like that, and I think after last night, we've had enough violence. So let's all relax, alright?"Yaro asked. He was still sapped for magic, but he could feel the familiar burn in his chest. His anger was controllable, but not forever. While he got a VERY weird feeling from the strange man, he didn't believe that the man's attitude would help very much.

(@Foxgirl Jay @Windows98 @keizerin I swear on the life of me, why the hell does Rpnation not register when there are alerts properly?)

The guard cries out, feeling the pressure on it's body. "I'm under attack!" All the other guards around take notice, and start blowing their warning horns. It takes but a short moment before the full garrison is roused and rushing to the walls. Archers are loosing their arrows at the sinister figure, while the melee soldiers are tossing rocks at him. The courtyard is filled with shouts of "Another attack! Defend the walls, another attack!" Everyone was jumpy from last night, and they were on edge, ready for a potential counter-attack from their unknown enemy. Nothing of the black-clad soldiers armors from last night indicated where they were from or who they were affiliated with. Robin can't ignore the sounds of warning, and joins other soldiers at the wall. Kirk is already there, joining in with the stone-throwing. Only way he could help. "What? Who's attacking?" Robin asks to everyone about her. A soldier tells her "That creepy bastard in the black armor is whats doing it, castin' some hexes upon us surely if we don't murder 'im!"

(I'm getting the non-notification bug too. It seems to work for mentions though.)

(There was no shouting until this post. Enigma is not on the wall, he's on the ground, outside of the gate. He's using a spectral hand of sorts.)

Yaro stood in horror. Torn between defending them, and defending the man, Yaro did what he thought was sensible: Cause a small explosion of fire between both, to get there attention. "TIME OUT! TIME. OUT. Okay?!" Yaro yelled, looking towards the both. He was hoping this would cause a big enough distraction to get both of their attentions. "Everyone! Just please, calm down! "Yaro yelled.

(You specifically said that the man shouted at Enigma in the previous post. @Foxgirl Jay )

Enigma, unprepared for this barrage of attacks, as well as an explosion, jumps, startled. He flings the man off somewhere back into Caed Nua. Multiple arrows were lodged into his armor, he began to runs towards the forest to use the trees as cover. One arrow had made it through and opening in the armor. He grabs the arrow and breaks it in half. He realizes he wouldn't be able to attack Caed Nua. He runs deeper into the forest, cautiously avoiding arrows being shot at him. He left a trail of black, oily blood that stained the grass and bushes. He needed to unleash more demons, quickly. @Foxgirl Jay @Andraus

The barrage stops when the demon is out of sight. "Bloody hell, are you daft kid? He was tryin' to kill our mate to death!" They say, while helping their injured ally to his feet. "Alright there?" They ask. He nods his head. "Bah, just a little sore!"

"I don't think that was no natural thing. No creature I've seen that breaths our air bleeds black. Only things from a darker place do." Robin comments, looking down at the bloody spots, that have a slight sheen to them.

The trail zig zags through the forest, multiple forest spirits have been corrupted. Many animals lay lifeless on the ground. The grass and flowers brown. There were footprints in the grass that were very far apart.

Enigma lies down on a tree, he was going to rest here until he regained his strength so he could go back to the underworld and get stronger, being free from his book. He sighs and Begins to place both hands over the wound. Multiple black tendrils began to take the arrow head out and cast their own healing spells on the wound, closing it completely. He needed to repair his armor, he needed souls to do this. He also needs souls to strengthen himself, as he had weakened while he was sealed away in the book. He gets up and begins his soul search. @Foxgirl Jay

"Yes, because randomly murdering the person for wearing the same color as your enemy is so right, what was I thinking. "Yaro said sarcastically. "If I remember right, the man did call the guy a bastard right in his face, shouting at the top of his lungs. Were I in the position of......whatever the hell that thing was, I'd probably do the same thing, if I knew how. "Yaro said, looking around. Only a few creatures caused this sort of effect. Yaro didn't know why, but he felt drawn to it. "I'm gonna go check this out...."

Yaro began following the path of blood through the forest. He saw the effects of the man's blood, and came up with 3 theories: One, the man was a creature of the undead, such as Yaro. Two, He was a cursed being. Three, he was something much more powerful than he let on. Yaro simply moved around the trail, before finally speaking up after awhile. "Excuse me!....Are you alright, sir? You need help?" he asked outloud.

Enigma, not expecting a follower looked at him quickly, startled. "Leave me be!" He yells. Though he was still wiping up the blood from his now closed wound, he wasn't in the mood to fight right now. He then realizes he could lure him in. "But company would be nice!" He says in a pained voice. Being the demon he is, his natural aura had scared away the animals and Sprits, as well as some of the plants. @Andraus

"I'm not here for a fight.....whoever you are. I just came here for questions. "Yaro said, looking around. He stayed behind a tree. "Your blood....no normal being caused this effect. I have to ask: are you a creature of the undead, like me, or something more powerful? If so, I have questions. "Yaro said. If the creature's blood was capable of doing this, maybe he could help Yaro fix himself.

"If I were to answer, it would not be honest. Maybe if you were to show yourself, I would change my mind." Enigma responds. He says this in attempt to lure him out, knowing he wasn't here for a fight, he knew he would catch him off guard. "Who are you?" @Andraus

Hidden in the shadows of the surrounding trees around Caed Nua, Nocturne was making his way towards the once-ruined fortress at his own pace, his black mask covering half his face as the black hoodie that draped over his head covered the rest of his face in shadow. He had been travelling for some time now, not with much of a goal in particular, just going in one direction and taking small breaks in inns along the way. Sometimes he would have to make due with spending nights sleeping in the forest, as was the case for the past couple of nights. He was heading towards Caed Nua in hopes that he could take a small break there and eat food that he did not have to hunt for himself. This was of course hoping that the people there didn't try to run him off, even though Nocturne looked peculiar human with his light skin, the only signs that he was anything else were his slightly pointed ears and a dreaded thin, grey tail that ended in a demonic looking point. Even those were hidden, the tail underneath his cloak and the tip of his ears by his curly, black hair. Never the less, others still felt a dreadful aura around him, sometimes it would scare innkeepers so much that they would refuse to have anything to do with him or even aggravate other men into starting conflicts with him. Nocturne usually tried to silver tongue his way through problems first, but if needed he had no problem shedding the blood of fools that took him on. Which is what got him involved in an incident at the last inn he stayed that left two men lying in a pool of their own blood, he wasn't too worried though since many would be too frightened of him to try and chase him down for revenge. He just hoped word of that incident hasn't reached Caed Nua as he did not feel like getting in conflict when he was just trying to find himself a warm meal.

As he got closer to Caed Nua, he saw a bare footed woman near him, heading in the direction of the fortress. Her cloak was dragging behind her with her hoodie covering some of her face, she was carrying a strange staff that she seemed to be using as a walking stick. He remained relatively hidden in the trees, but the woman could still see him if she looked over, he wasn't sure whether he should try to get information out of her and see if people this far away already heard about what happened at the last inn he stayed at.

Fucking idiot... Robin thinks to herself. To try and defend a sinister figure who had attacked a guard, when the guards only action was to tell it to leave, if in the traditionally crass manner of soldiers... It was a dangerous person, not to be trusted. Rather than argue, it attacked. And with an unknown sorcery at that. And if Yaro feels like allaying himself with people like that... perhaps Robin doesn't need him around. And he's perhaps he's been altered by the spell that brought him back, in a way Robin hadn't seen yet. She grips the stone ledge of the wall in frustration. Repeats her thoughts aloud "Fucking idiot."

Kirk stands beside her, patting her back. "We don't have time for this, remember."

Robin nods her head slowly, eyes shut. She had promised after all. Set the time of their departure. Follow the west-ward road to Gilded Vale. "I'd promised to leave in the morn, and it's already nearing it's end. All my things are packed and ready. I'll check on the halfling, then we can leave." Robin walks down the stairs to ground level, and back to the Inn.

Before Yaro could reveal himself, Enigma rolls off into the bushes and scrambles away. He was feeling better, and so he opens a portal to the underworld. He hops through it closing behind him and leaving the ground burned where it had been opened. The discharge of magic was heard in the middle of the forest, birds being scared away.

As he stepped through, he was delighted to be home, min stead of that book. He sighs with relief. The demons in the area, acknowledged him with "Hello's." And "Greetings". He approaches the demonic castle. He looks up at the large, metal doors. He places both hands on the right door. He slowl pushes the doors open. The demons in the room who were originally working, stopped and looked at Enigma. They realized he was just another demon and continued to work. Enigma, weakened, looks for the chamber of souls in the castle. He needed them to strengthen himself. He walks through out the castle . He eventually finds what he was looking for: a big globe of souls. He absorbs a fair sized portion of souls. He then heads to his old chamber and rests.

Yaro walked over to the burned markings on the ground, having heard and felt the magical discharge.....This was bad. He recognized these as portal markings, but no-one could do that unless they were exceptionally skilled. Once the being was gone, however, Yaro felt the draw from him disappear, and Yaro was left shaken. What just happened?

Rather than question this, he left and made his way back to the keep, aiming to find Robin. He had to tell her what he had found, as he doubt he'd seen the last of the being. Walking up the stairs to Kirk, Yaro looked visible disturbed. "I.....look, I don't know what happened, but that......"Yaro stopped holding his head. Since the being was a demon, directly connected with the other world and it's corrupting influence, Yaro's body was visible affected by it. It wasn't serious now, as it was quickly fading, though Yaro was afraid of what would happen in the future. "I can't explain what happpened......but keep an eye out for that thing......I don't think it was one of the attackers, but it was just as dangerous, if not more so......It wasn't human, nothing human could've done.....what it's blood did. "Yaro said, sitting down, as he tried to clear his head.

(Sorry for the late reply. )

The Material Realm

Sitting in the inn was Jonathan waiting for Robin and Yaro. By now he was already eating a third breakfast, maybe an early lunch, just enjoying the things the place had to offer. He hadn't fully caught what caused them to run off, but going by the shouts of bloody murder going on outside he could make a fair guess. But since the outside didn't smell like the place was burning or the world was collapsing around him, it would probably best to wait he thought. By his side stood his backpack with travel supplies, ready to hit the road and onward to adventure with a dapper smile and trusty crossbow and lute in hand.

@Foxgirl Jay

The SCARY DEMON REALM (boooo~!)

After Enigma had retreated to his chambers, someone knocks on the door after which a scrawny, hunchbacked demon with a large beard comes walking in. He had an impish appearance about him and carried a large oaken staff. Though instead of the malice one would usually associate with a demon's face, if you squinted your eyes a bit, it almost seemed like the face of a deluded old man. He was known as 'The Bearded One', a name given to him through the ages as local folklore spoke of his deeds.

...Except that the deeds folklore spoke of was a benevolent 5' trickster creature who would expose the misdeeds of man and cause good luck wherever it went. He wasn't, what one would call... A succesful demon. "Ohohohoh! Enigmaaaa..." he spoke in a pitched voice "Scrambled away from the material realm have'ya?". The demon jumps on the bed, standing over Enigma as it's beard lays itself on Enigma's chest. "Yes, yes! I know, I know. The world can be a rough place! No more respect for us demons huh? No more respect for the MAAALIIICCEEE WE REPRESENT!" he rambles. "I know aaalll about it Enigma. Aaaaallll about it!"

Enigma groans. "Nice to see you too... Get your hair off of me." He says, annoyed. He was still happy to see him though. He sits up. He looks up at The Bearded One. He scoots back, and out of bed, stretching. He walks over to his window and looks through. "After all these years, the main gateway still hasn't been reconstructed?" He looks out at the two horn like structures that were just passed half complete. "It feels like it has been centuries." He turns to the bearded one. "Did they give you a name yet, Hunchback?" He questions.

He walks over to his armor rack to retrieve his armor, this entire time he had been in the traditional clothes - More like rags, that had been given to him upon being high up in the demon hierarchy. He looks at his helmet. It looks dirty and dull, like it had been in a cave for years - Oh wait, it has. The same thing went for the rest of his armor. Enigma looks over to his weapon rack. His sword was dull, it looked like it could barley cut butter. Enigma's expression changed to a distasteful frown. @Radazart Teh Gr8

"And you went prancing off in to the fucking forest after it. Where's your sense?" Robin asks with a disgusted look. She turns away, not bothering to hide her disdain from Yaro. But now the attention's to the hungry halfling. "Are you ready to set out? It'll be a day or two of travel, weather permitting, to the Gilded Vale. And we shouldn't tarry, we don't know what else could be going on."

The Demon Realm

"Can't trust ANYONE to get anything done these days. Construct the gateway, construct the gateway is allll they say. And in the meantime, you know what happens?" The Bearded One half limps over to Enigma's side and pokes him with his staff "You know what happens...? All these demons do is go out into the material realm to either flee back here or get banished, HAH, what a joke, what a laugh!" he says jumping about "Nonononono, I won't have it. Won't have none of it! All this talk of KIIIILLLIIIING, and MUUUURRDEEERRIIING. And then what?! Some supposed 'heeeeroooo' comes along and gives 'em a proper good spanking AND OFF THEY RUN! ...Ya feel me 'Nigma? Ya feel me?" the Bearded One rambles on, walking in circles in place while gesturing wildly "...Alll talk they are, allll talk. And worst of it is? They come walkin' about like they be a big shot of sorts, acting all high and mighty and SOOOO SSUUUUPPPER DAAARK that NOBODY takes us PROPER demons seriously anymore, huh 'Nigma? You ain't one of them poofter demons, are you 'Niggy?" he asks looking at Enigma with a raised eyebrow.

The Material Realm

Jonathan looks up trying to chew and swallow the piece of meat he'd just put in his mouth. He puts his hand in front of his mouth and chews excessively to respond to Robin, and just as he swallows says "Yes, yes all re-..." before he starts coughing, punching himself on the chest to aid. With a relieved sigh he breathes as his face had turned red from the effort. "Ahem, pardon me Miss Robin. Yes, I've got it all prepared you see. Backpack and everything. Have we prepared provisions? I have to say, I pride myself for my cooking skill." he says, excited for the journey ahead.

"It's not like I had much of a choice in it, Robin! I don't know what, but something about that thing drawed me too it!"Yaro snapped back, his eyes flashing. Quickly, however, he bit down his aggression. "If he's what I hope he was, then maybe He can help me.....I want to find a way to reverse my state, see if I can actually become a normal living being again. I need powerful magic to do that, and I'm willing to take any help I can get to actually go back to being normal. "Yaro said. He felt that Robin should understand his wanting to return to the living completely. It was obviously a living hell to be undead.

But she was right, they needed to get the bard, and this half-ling. This discussion could wait.

"Don't call me Niggy..... I also wouldn't call myself some sort of prodigy demon. I just see my self as everyone that has sense does - A person who died and came here and wanted to work off their bad deeds. Though I do agree, these demons aren't working as fast as they used too. But I've strengthened enough to open my own portals. Speaking of which, I've healed. Hunchback, I need you to do me a favor. Take my armor and sword and take it to the blacksmith. I want my sword sharpened and my armor re-forged. I also need you to go to the public chamber and gather as many demons as possible. I'm getting revenge on some mortals.... Hurry on then." He says in a dead serious tone, he walks back to the window and cups his hands behind his back and rests them on his butt. He looks outside at the Gateway and waits for The Bearded One to leave. @Radazart Teh Gr8

"R-revenge on some M-mortals! Pahahahaha!" The Bearded One cackles as he begins to hop out of the room " 'Nigma's got his butt burned! Shee-hee-hee" he takes Enigma's equipment which he brandishes above his head and makes his way out of the room "And now lil' ol' me has to do alllll the fixin', hahah~!" he flaunts, and as he steps into the hallway he just simply drops the equipment he had taken which clatter on the floor with sharp metallic clangs and clunks. The Bearded One makes his way out of the hallway, but having left the door open, the echoes of his jeering could still easily be heard.

@Windows98

Enigma sighs. "Why did I trust him to do anything...." He walks over to the door. He picks the equipment up himself and starts out of the castle to do it himself. He walks up to the blacksmith. "Re-forge the armor, As well as sharpen my blade." The demon blacksmith nods vigorously before taking the equipment to the back room where he began to work on it. In the meantime, Enigma went to gather demons for his siege. He had gathered a small force of 30 demons. 10 being the winged cavalry. 19 being regular grunts. One being the heavily armored support. He tells them to meet near the main gateway. Enigma power walks back to the black smith who gives him his equipment. Enigma walks into a secluded area and begins to put the armor on and give the sword a few swings.

He walks back towards the group he had assembled. "You're task is to just cause as much chaos as possible, I don't care where, when, or how." Enigma opens the portal and allows the demons to scatter out into the material world in different directions. Enigma walks out behind them. He closes the portal and then looks around. He was in front of Pearlwood gulf. As he watches the last of the demons disappear into the world. He starts off to the nearest village, which happened to be near Defiance Bay. He starts off towards the village.

(Is it guarded by a militia or professional guards with actual training?)

Ava quickly found herself in front of Caed Nua's front gates, and she was immediately met with the sudden realization that she had no idea what she planned to accomplish by coming here. Of course, she was curious about the attack from the previous night, but what could she do? It was over as quick as it started, and she doubted anyone would welcome her help in aiding any who may have been wounded.

She sighed, staring down the daunting entrance as she stood mere feet in front of it. She debated turning away, continuing her aimless wandering in the opposite direction, and yet... she couldn't quite bring herself to do it. Although she arrived here with no specific purpose in mind, she couldn't deny that she felt drawn to this place. What it was that called to her, she couldn't say for sure. After some internal debating, Ava turned to step away, deciding it would be best to retreat back towards the comfort of the forest, but froze. Before her, half hidden in the trees, stood a figure disguised in shadow. There was no mistaking it, they were looking her way.

I don't like the look'a this fella, girlie... someone hissed in her ear cautiously, I'd git the hell outta here before he tries anything. Got a weird vibe 'bout him.

Ava gulped, clearing her throat before bowing her head towards the stranger, mumbling a good morning.
