Fantasy A Time of Kings

Jonathan looks a bit dismayed at this, but shrugs it of and comments "Now now Robin, and adventurer on the road's got to eat healthy. But... I'll just be filling all the holes the travel will cause in the taverns we shall stay on our way, and take my fourth, and maybe fifth meals there." Jonathan smiles back at her, rubbing his well endowed belly. "But leave the cooking to me, and I promise you we shan't go hungry for a day!". Unbeknownst to Yaro, Kirk and Robin, Jonathan had bought some spices back at Caed Nua which would greatly enhance the flavor of anything they would cook. Maybe if he cooked a good pot of soup each day, nice and plentiful it would fill enough to keep him and his travelling partners on the road. And what it would lack in taste due to lack of ingredients, he would compensate with the delicious smelling spices he had on him.

Enigma, tired of waiting turns into a black smoke. He didn't feel like walking anymore, so he decided to take the faster method of travel. He ascends above the trees, then moving quickly towards Forked Vale. Within a half an hour, he arrives there. He reforms into a solid object, stumbling as he hit the ground. He still carried his momentum, and he wasn't used to doing that over long distances like that. As he regains himself. He looks around the front entrance for guards. He didn't want anyone or anything standing in his way. @Foxgirl Jay

Nocturne eye's slightly twitched at the new arrivals remark, normally he would have loved to break a couple of teeth of those that disrespected him, but he couldn't risk giving the guards a reason to kick him out. So he went back to smiling charmingly as he pretended not to hear the insult. "I wouldn't want inconvenience you with giving me a tent, just a splendid meal is all I ask for! I'll have no problem eating out here with my back against a tree"

Turning around to face the strange "priestess", he asked politely "Would you care to join me? I'd love to have company, I'll even pay for your meal if you wish." It was highly unusual for him to pay for anyone's food but he wanted to have her stick around and learn any information she could give her, as well as having her stay here and reject the stranger's offer of traveling with him, a small revenge for the insult.

Adin frowned, and tried to reach the priestess's mind telepathically. At first he got only weird whispers, then he broke through, saying "He isn't to be trusted, shadow beings never are. I can tell you were trained by witches, but you are not inherently evil are you?" Then he frowned at the assassin and yelled "AH He is Hurting me help, HELP!" The assassin was doing nothing. (It is up to @Foxgirl Jay if the guards believe me)

"Mmh, I think my favorite inn I'd stayed at, was at Defiance Bay. I'd stayed there for about a week, doing odd jobs around the city, and the chef they had was simply amazing! I couldn't believe in when the halfling had said oh but I'm just a little bit better than my average kin when I'd complimented him... several times." Robin sighs, but it's with a smile.

The party of four cross the bridge, and set out on their path to Gilded Vale.

One of the soldiers had gone to the inn to fetch the strange traveller a hot bowl of stew. Another took notice of the shouting man. Spindly armed, pathetic looking elf is what he sees. "Eh? What are you on about? He's doin' nothing!" The soldier shakes his head in disdain, with an annoyed look at Adin. "Deal with yer' own fuckin problems wolf-crier!" A soldier comes back, and waves at Nocturne. He wants him to come up to the gate. He's sticking his arm through the portcullis gate, with the bowl of stew and a spoon for him. It's still steaming, and smells hearty.

A wooden ring wall surrounds Forked Vale, and it seems that massive oak trees serve as guard towers. A solid enough deterrence from raiders or other such miscreants, but nothing to a siege force. The guard is not too tight, but therein lies the danger. From their garb, the guards are Elven forest guardians. Exceptionally skilled bowmen and fighters.

Adin smiles, embarrassed at the failure, he cloaks himself in a invisibility spell. He crawls up a tree and falls asleep, having a extreme bi-polar disorder.

Jonathan gives a hearthy laugh "Now that's a proper halfling for you! The food's good, but as a chef he's ooohh sssooo humble 'bout it. That's the proper cooking way, you do it with some heart for the job. Compliments are nice, but the smell from that delicious broth, bubbling in the pot speaks for itself" he responds with a happy smile, almost dreaming away at the idea of the food alone "But, Defiance Bay you said Robin." he turns to Robin, walking backwards "Was eh... The name of that halfing, was he a Muskley by any chance? Bet you I'd heard something 'bout a Muskley running of to Defiance Bay. Nice family too."

Elves? Just Enigma's luck, he wanted easy pickings, but even a few elves could be troublesome. He had to plan this carefully. He quickly scrambles over to a bush. He looks at what seemed to be the most important guard, he looks through a hole in the bushes. He raises his hand, using his magic to attempt to grip him. This kill had to seem like an accident to attract the rest of the guards so he could finish this quickly. His armor, being as heavy as it is, made scrapping noises as he moved. The noise seemed to echo a bit. @Foxgirl Jay

Nocturne smirked and crossed his arms as he watched the desperate man try to turn the guards against him, he found it almost comical watching him. Once the embarrassed fool disappeared Nocturne had trouble containing his laughter as he heard him scurry away like a fleeing mouse.

Once the soldier called for his attention, he swaggered to the gate, taking the steaming bowl of soup in one hand as he reached into his coin satchel that he kept attached tightly to his waist. Winking he handed the soldier coin for the soup and some extra "Thank you kind sir, I appreciate it whole heartily. Have a little extra for your trouble!"

@Foxgirl Jay

"So long as I am fed, I'll make sure your weapons stay in the best shape. I'll look into that Idea, Jonathan: Magic-infused Crossbow bolts will be a big help if I can manufacture them. All I'm saying is be careful, because they might be volatile. "Yaro said, before reaching into his pocket, and unwrapping a small cloth. It was six strips of bacon, and two biscuits. It was what he had left of his breakfast. Taking one, along with 3 bacon strips, he handed them to Robin. "Here....I doubt you had time to eat, so you can have some of mine. "he said, offering it to her.

Ava, for the time being, sheepishly stuck to the "assassin's" side. He was a strange and suspicious one, she could not deny that, but she felt much more comfortable in his company than that odd and frightening disappearing elf. She clutched her stave like a lifeline, staying a foot or two behind her new, albeit temporary, traveling partner.

Don't let the guards see yer face, girlie. the spirits heeded, reminding her to tug down her hood, shadowing her upper face.

Nocturne walked back towards the tree line, then sits down against a broad tree with the bowl in his lap and smiles confidently at her. "Well, sit down and take the burden off your feet, I'd enjoy the company as I have had none for the past couple of days. My name is Nocturne and I'm just a wandering traveler" he lied before enjoying a spoonful of warm soup. "What's your name?" He asked pleasantly.

Don't trust him, she heard, over and over. The spirits were obviously not happy with her new company, but she ignored them. Instead, Ava kept an even distance between the two of them, standing before him instead of sitting. She bowed her head, telling him, "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Nocturne. I am called Brennan, Priestess Brennan... But Ava is a suitable name, as well."

@ShadowSketches

"Ava? Is that a nickname people call you?" Nocturne questioned, not sure how you get Ava from Brennan. At least he was right about her being a priestess, he didn't care much for priests or priestesses but she seemed relatively harmless... but he kept hearing something, almost like whispers in his ear that he couldn't make out. He frowned as he wondered what could possibly cause this, after a while he just decided that it wasn't worth worrying about right now and continued eating.

@keizerin

Ava shook her head, a bit flustered by her awkward wording; she was not used to talking to the living, and she was always nervous she would say the wrong thing. "I--no, Ava is the name I was given," she corrected, clearing her throat. "I suppose you could say 'Brennan' is... a surname? My surname."

@ShadowSketches

"Er, well. I'd actually had all my breakfast. It's no worry, you can keep it, really." Robin says with a measure of awkwardness. She looks away, rubbing the back of her head. She feigns it as looking towards the road ahead, which really should be her first concern. Thankfully, Jonathan helps her out of it, by helping himself. He pipes up from a few feet behind the rest of the party; clearly not used to walking and keeping pace with the taller folk. "Ah, but if the generous offer still stands for the rest of us, I'll gladly take it!" He fears for the state of his body. If he's forced to work harder to keep up with the long-legged companions, he may just work off his hard-earned weight! Everyone adores a little overweight bard after all.

Elves so attuned to magic, felt the casting at once. The elf gripped by the spell struggles, trying to cast it's own counter-spell, a standard spell to ward away magic. Other Forest Guardians attempt the same, to free their kin from the spell.

"Ah, I understand, well Ava I was wondering if you knew anything about Hel's Gate, I've heard there's been quite a commotion about it but I wasn't sure what is rumors and what is truth." Nocturne inquired, finishing the last of his soup as he waited for Ava's answer, when he went to place the bowl beside him and off his lap he saw a face appear in the tree he was sitting against. Wasting no time he grasped one of the many throwing daggers he has sheathed across his chest, stabbing and hearing the thud as the blade sunk deep where the forehead of the face would be.

Enigma's spell was broken almost immediately by multiple spells. Enigma, now annoyed, growls quietly. There were few, but he couldn't take them on alone. He retreats back into the trees, to try a more straight forward tactic. He grabs a stick and begins to draw a summoning ritual circle in the ground. He begins chanting words to open a portal. He was trying to summon a siege beast. @Foxgirl Jay (Ill leave it up to you weather the ritual works or not.)

Yaro was about to respond to the halfling, when he felt something.....weird. He didn't know why, but it caused him to stumble, him now rubbing his chest. Yaro felt like he was in the middle of about to throw up, and about to blow up. "Ugh!.....okay, Not what I expected......"He said, coughing. He then looked towards the rest. "I'll be fine just...give me a minute. "He said, taking a few deep breathes, before resuming his pace.

(@Foxgirl Jay )

"You sure you're alright, or the food for that matter with that big a gag response?" Jonathan asks worried about Yaro. Though of course, if he'd been eating rotten food that wouldn't be any good either. "If you... Need anything to get yourself all fixed up Yaro, ask miss Robin or meself. We should both've some supplies on us for aid."

@Andraus

@Foxgirl Jay

Robin's standing next to him. She was caught quite off guard by his sudden, dramatic reaction to seemingly nothing. "I really hope that... whatever that was is over and you're fine now. But if you're were ill, you 'ought to have told us before... or is this something about the Magic spell that brought you back?" Robin puts a comforting hand on his shoulder. Her concern shows on her pale face.

Kirk crosses his arms. "I hope for yer' sake and our sake it's not some disease. Traveling with the ill would just spread it."

Robin wouldn't go as far to just leave Yaro if it was some serious disease, but can't refute Kirk's logic.

From the summoning portal comes not the beast of awesome demonic strength that Enigma had intended. In it's stead, a man, seeming to be in his thirties, with an average face and a bald head steps through. He's dressed in a thick dark-yellow tunic with three blue stripes on the sleeves, a satchel at his hip with a shoulder-strap and brown pants. He has a road-weary look to him, not dirty, more like a vagrant. A man that Enigma would not have seen before. "You and I, should chat." He says, a faint smile hinting on his lips. His hands are clasped together, behind his back.

Enigma looks up at the man. This is what he had summoned? If he had summoned this, they he had better listen up. Enigma stands. "Who are you?" He says slowly. Enigma was not going to assume he had killed all of the Siege Beasts. Maybe he had made a mistake in the ritual. He looks over at the ritual circle - He did it correctly. He looks at the man. He slowly takes off his helmet and tucks it under his arm, a puzzled expression on Enigma's face. His smile was making him nervous. Was this a higher up demon disguises as a man? Had he done something wrong and he was the executioner? Many questions flew through Enigma's mind at rapid fire. He shakes his head, dismissing the thoughts. He waits for his response. @Foxgirl Jay

"I'm fine now....I don't know, maybe it's the magic. I haven't felt like that before. "Yaro said, pressing his hand on his chest, before looking over towards Kirk. "I can't get sick, remember? I'm dead, that's impossible. My body may not be decaying, but I am an unliving creature. It's most likely a flux in the magic that reanimated my body. "He said, before handing the food to Jonathan. "Here, friend. it's still fresh....you'll need your strength. "He said, before placing his hand on Robin's, giving her a warm smile.

@Foxgirl Jay @Radazart Teh Gr8

Jonathan nods as he takes the food "My thanks, mister Yaro." he says. Though while holding onto the food, he makes sure to inspect it for... Whatever Yaro could've done to it and frowns a bit. He sniffs the food, though quickly quickly brings forth a handkerchief from underneath his coat with which he quickly pockets it. He'd try eating it later... When he had some fire to cook it. The was no knowing where that stuff has been with a... Potentially ill walking corpse handling it.

"So, miss Robin! Where will the road take us for the coming days?" he asks with a smile in her direction.
