Fantasy A Time of Kings

Another time where Jonathan had saved her from a potentially awkward situation. Yaro's feelings were obvious, and Robin was still unsure. After all, some people had mistaken her natural personality for flirting.

"We're following the road... no detours, it'll take us right to a town called Gilded Vale. It might be the next place our Tyrant tries to take... We're not going to let that happen." To Robin, it seemed a simple task. "I can only hope it's not too late... otherwise we'll have a garrison to defeat, however small or large it may be." Robin frowns, putting a hand to her chin in thought. She hadn't considered what they would do if they had to free the village.

"A good question!" The man laughs. He's slowly pacing. His eyes are not on Enigma, rather on the ground. He finds what he's looking for, a stump to seat himself on. "But a question for another time. You're quite the young one, aren't you?" He asks in a vague way. The strange man has a way of looking through people, and not at people. "Enigma... such a weighty, powerful name with much complexity to it... but it's owner, an unsubtle being."

"What do you need...Wait, how did you know my name?" Enigma was confused on several different levels. Though he did know this conversation was leading up to something. He wanted him to get to the point. It could be any moment before those damned elves began to feel his presence and come after him. He doesn't think he would fare so well. He needed to get that Siege Beast, now. @Foxgirl Jay

Ava shook her head, flinching only slightly when Nocturne stabbed a knife into the tree behind him. "I'm afraid I know next to nothing," the girl answered, "I only know that there is a rising power that many are opposed of. I heard this supposed 'tyrant' has been attacking many settlements, but I... I am unsure what to think." Admittedly, Ava had never encountered any problems with the one who had taken Hel's Gate, and she cared little over who ruled so long as she and her Savior were left alone.

@ShadowSketches

The face that appeared slowly drifted away when the blade connected with the tree, probably just a nature spirit that liked their pranks. Nocturne's ears pricked up as he heard Ava explain what she knew as he returned the throwing knife into it's sheath "An unstable tyrant that everyone is opposed of?" he said, hiding his grin as he realized the potential this situation had. This was the chance he's been yearning for, if he went and lead the revolution against the tyrant, he could overthrow him and take his seat of power for himself. Then he would slowly expand his power and take control of the surrounding area, growing more powerful by the day. Deciding that his next objective was Hel's Gate, he turned to the priestess "It's a shame you don't know more about it, I have been planning to go there and find out more about the situation."

@keizerin

Shuffling her feet, Ava stared down at her feet as she responded, "I'm afraid I don't spend much time around the living... I solemn have the opportunity to gossip, and I only know what I know through passing whispers. I... I apologize if I am no help to you, but I do wish you good luck in finding what you're looking for." Her dark eyes rose from her toes, scanning the character in front of her. "If I may ask, sir... What is it you seek?"

"Oh, friends ought to know one anothers names, right? But that question, ah that question that burns at the heart of all sentient... what does the other person want? I know that you wish for revenge, but not revenge against the people who had slighted you." He claps his hands together once. "Pah, and this petty revenge. Would you agree, that times have changed drastically for your kind? Mh, I'd say so. Demons. The word used to send terror in to the good people of these lands. Instead, it invokes violent uprising, and a call to bravery. People are no longer afraid of the blood thirsty demon... hellish armies no longer march." He gives a sigh with a shake of his head, looking skyward to the bright sun above. "And such daring, not cowering under the cloak of night!" He speaks with such a cadence that it's hard to not be drawn in to the mans words, but the voice is that of an intelligent man. Every word weighted, subtle. Meaning behind the meaning.

"It might be best if we send in a scout to scope out the town first......No-one will suspect a bard, and they tend to be travelers. "Yaro suggested. "Also, Inns are a great source of information. He can over-hear this that will be of a supreme benefit to us.....not to mention, guy has a silver tongue and the gift of gab. "He said, obviously complementing his companion.

"What I seek?" Nocturne took a long look at the priestess, trying to see how much he should tell her "I don't rightly know, I'm a sort of "wanderer" for lack of a better term and my travels bring me far and wide. But if there's a tyrant on the loose, someone should go and take care of him, should they not?" He stopped and walked towards Ava, putting a hand under her chin and lifting her head to have her look straight at him "Now may I ask dear Ava, what skills do you possess? I can tell your not like any normal priestess..." he said in almost a whisper, she could prove to be useful to him on his journey. After all, most men are more willing to listen to a pretty face.

@keizerin

This man spoke the truth, Enigma could agree. Losing all sense of rush, he places his helmet down on the ground and sits down slowly. "I do agree. The demons are no longer as feared as they once were, but I intend to change that." He says proudly. "What is your point, old man?" Enigma starts to imagine multiple outcomes of this encounter, was this man only trying to catch Enigma off guard? This thought made Enigma tense slightly, he was now encouraging himself to be ready for anything. Enigma can't totally trust this man, who had mysteriously appeared from his own ritual portal, he could be a demon trying to trick him. Maybe it was The Bearded One? No, the characteristics are too unlike each other. "Do you want to help me with my goal?" @Foxgirl Jay

(middle-aged, 37-ish looking, not old)

"Well, in a way... I help everybody with their goal. How about we just say... I give people what they want. That is what I want." He folds one leg over the other, his calf resting on his knee. "Elfs are a dangerous foe. Tenacious at the worst of times, and when it comes to defending their homes, they show fangs that no cornered beast could home to have. Most of your ilk are incorrigible. The fact that you didn't rush in and simply die and be locked away in your home for a hundred years shows that. So come now, tell me what you want."

Robin shakes her head firmly. "I'll not send somebody alone. Too potentially dangerous. Once we're at the town we can decide though." It's just after mid-day in their first day of travels. They've still a day an a half left before their goal is reached.

"Incorrigible? I thought it was better not to die than to simply just rush in.... and die. Elves are dangerous, a nearly perfect combination of magic and knowledge combat...... What I wanted was to do was restore that fear in which the people felt when even the word demon reached there ears. I wanted to be stronger. I wanted to overthrow the gods. But progress is slow in the underworld. Our main gateway is still under construction. I want to war with the gods again, and this time, I intend to win it." He says. "By myself, I couldn't do it. But I don't think you'd be up to the task. A mortal couldn't possibly possess the power to aid me in such way." He stands, picking up his helmet, looping his fingers through the eyes of it. "But one of my tasks in the damage the biggest threat to me, no matter how large or small. The elves must be crippled." @Foxgirl Jay

Ava gulped, finding herself momentarily frozen under his gaze, her eyes transfixed on his. All whispers were replaced with his words, which seemed almost eerie in comparison to his previously pleasant tone. "I am but a humble devotee, sir," she answered softly, "The skills I possess are nothing remarkable, I assure you."

@ShadowSketches

Nocturne smiled but there was no warmth in it "So humble...still, as a priestess you must at least know first aid" he said, his eye gazing deep into Ava almost as if he could see through all her secrets. "Well I don't mean to trouble you but would you be so kind as to travel with me on my journey? I've been known to bust myself up quite a bit and it would be so helpful to have someone to help heal me whenever the need arises" keeping his grip on her chin, he tried to persuade Ava into accompanying him as she seemed to be so cooperative thus far. "The journey can prove to be dangerous after all..."

Ava frowned at Nocturne's empty expression, wanting to look away but finding herself unable to as he held her in place. "It's true," she whispered, "Traveling with a healer would be... most efficient..." His stare was making her squirm, so unused to locking eyes with another person. She opted to shut her eyes, saying, "I suppose there's no harm in aiding someone in need."

Smiling, Nocturne released his grip on her and patted her shoulder "That's great to hear! It'll be great to have some company on this trip, have no fears I'll take care of any "difficulties" we find along the way." He said, before starting to head through the trees towards the direction of the Gilded Vale "We'll walk to the Gilded Vale first, then make our way to Hel's Gate. Though we'll be traveling through the forest I'm afraid instead of the path, I like to remain hidden from unwanted gazes" he said, winking at the priestess.

@keizerin

Ava turned from him quickly as soon as she was released, exhaling a shaky breath she had not realized she was holding in. He was odd, this Nocturne, both terrifying and tantalizing. She was undoubtedly intrigued by him, and yet every part of her being screamed at her to be wary of him. Regardless, she followed him, bound by her word, but not uttering another as he led the way. The priestess averted her gaze, listening for whispers that had gone silent, and wondering if she had made the right decision.

She felt as though she had made a deal with a demon.

( @ShadowSketches I don't want to fill up the thread with us walking and talking, so let's wait for the main party to set out before we continue. (-: )

(Yup, they've been gone for "half a day" now. I even had Robin minorly interact with the bunch of them still standing on the bridge, but there was no response so I said fuck it.)

(Was it when they just started leaving the fortress and Robin noticed a another group of strange travelers? Haha sorry I missed that chance as I was trying to set my oc's objective, though maybe we can still have the duo stumble upon the group on their way to the Gilded Vale?)

@Foxgirl Jay

(i feel like just saying a deer stops in front of the party and then follows them because of the guy with food and stuff)

(They've got several hours of travel ahead of your group. Though to be fair, I was expecting Ava's elfy mysticism to kick in when they passed.)

The man shakes her head. "Tsk tsk tsk. I care not for what you desire to happen, didn't I just tell you that? My patience is wearing thin, and I fear I must leave. Soon. Will the question be answered?" He pauses for a moment, then his face grows grim. "Or is are you and your ilk are pitiful that all you can have for desire, is to harm the material world."

(hmm sorry but could we forward the rp a bit towards the night hours, maybe to have the main group stopping to have a meal or to rest and the duo walking near their camp, catching up since they kept travelling while the main group took a break?)
