Fantasy A Time of Kings

"...Fine, what I want is power and wealth. I want people to fear demons once more. I want to release all the demons and monsters holed up in the underworld. Is that a better answer?" He said, annoyed. He puts his helmet on. 'Pitiful', Hmph. Like he could speak. So far all he had seen from mortals were loud mouth warriors who were all bark and no bite. He'd even seen beggars wandering through the forest asking for water. What he had gave them was a sword through the back as they ran from him. "The Material realm is what I have to settle for until I can attack the Heaven's itself." He was now growing impatient. He asked for a Siege Beast, not a bald man. @Foxgirl Jay

"Now... Most of those things you cannot be granted, for you need to make them happen by your own hands. But power and wealth? That is within my will to give. And just as you see the second of those goals coming about, you'll meet with a disposed lord and his usurpers, and perhaps then we will all gather together under a red moon and share a laugh about all that has happened." He smiles wide. "I'm glad we could come together, and decide upon what you wanted." The man stands, and leaves, off in to the forest and no chasing would find him. The seal that he had put on the summoning circle with his presence is lifted upon his departure. The beast comes through... but the powerful creature has no intent of obeying Enigma.

Enigma realizes summoning Siege beasts also means they have no tamer with them. He was straight from the breeding chamber. Not even Enigma could defeat it in battle. Maybe if he could lure it in. Enigma unsheathes his sword, in attempt to imply that he was challenging the beast. Enigma didn't feel like being in hell for the next century, so his breathing picked up a bit - Hold on, Enigma thinks. Am I actually afraid of it? He shakes his head dismissing the thought. He begins to slowly step away from the creature. @Foxgirl Jay

The mutated thing looks to Enigma. It has a wolfish grin on it's misshaped, sutured together face. It has no quarrel with the one that had summoned it, only gratitude for being permitted to walk upon the material world. "Demon man summon me. What for summon? Break thing?" It's hard to control a siege beast to do anything aside from destroy. If you can't control it, it must be directed. It speaks slowly, stupidly. @Windows98

To Enigma's liking, the beast didn't just step on him and run off in the world. "Yes, There's are some elves just south of here. They're protecting by wood. What I need you to do, is to destroy the walls and kill as many elves as possible. Your reward: You get to walk to material world for as long as you like." He says, hoping to encourage the beast to do his best. He knew the Elves were most likely going to be using arrows. He knew they would just bounce right off - But the mages would be a problem. He would deal with those himself. @Foxgirl Jay

"Defeating a garrison Robin... I've heard many a bold tale over me lifetime, but you're jumping straight for legend here!" Jonathan says, akwardly smiling. "Ah mean, don't take me wrong, but that fighting force back at Caed Nua, pretty much seemed a small warband. And fightin' such a group garrisoned's a pretty steep uphill battle." he adds concerned. Though as the halfling deliberates a bit more, a spark of hope appears in his eyes. "Lest... A'course... We sneak our way in. Wait 'till night or cause a distraction elsewhere, maybe get some invisibility magic going." he nods "Huh... But! That's a'course if we can't just stroll in te begin with." he chuckles somewhat relieved. "Kirk your thoughts?" he asks the veteran looking warrior.

A deer would hop out of the bushes in front of the party. It stopped and stared at them. It licked its nose, then began trotting back into the bushes again.

"Exactly my point Jon. We get you in, you can feed us information, and be able to make a preemptive strike if it's necessary. "Yaro said, before looking towards Robin. "We can't go in as a full band, It'd be tactically unsafe. We also can't send him with a guard, It'd seem like he has something valuable to hide. The fact that Jon is a bard is a VERY useful benefit, Robin, we must take advantage of it. "He said, before looking at deer as it trotted off. "Huh.....Think you can hit it with your crossbow, Jon?"

Nocturne continued walking through the forest on his way to the Gilded Vale, Ava sheepishly walking behind him. Since their departure they haven't communicated much, the only sounds filling the forest were the cries of birds and the rustle as they crushed fallen leaves underfoot. She's still wary about me, but she doesn't seem like she can cause me much trouble if she decides to turn against me. He thought to himself, he then turned his head slightly to see the priestess as they continued walking "Ava, how are you doing? You been very quiet since we left." he asked, his voice slightly warmer than usual as he tried to charm the mysterious priestess into trusting him against her instincts.

Jonathan shakes his head "Not going to hit it Yaro. And even then, you expect any of us to drag that hing along until we set up camp? I ain't shooting a deer if we're just wastin' it anyway. An affront to nature that is, even if the meat tastes great!" the bard says, his reservations with shooting animals clear enough.

"But, I'm not... Objected to the idea of gettin' in alone and trying to open the gates at night or something, but like miss Robin said Yaro, sending in a single person's just a plain bad idea. And besides, what's to say they'll even let me in? Some people are just... You can't bluff 'em and you can't reason with 'em."

@Foxgirl Jay

Ava looked up towards her companion, raising a brow. "What a peculiar question," she replied, somewhat taken aback by his question. She quickly shook her head, managing a small smile, continuing, "I'm sorry, sir, if I'm a poor conversationist... I am a little nervous, to be honest. I don't normally travel with company."

@ShadowSketches

"I can't say I travel much with company either, it's easier to stay hidden when your alone..." Nocturne said as he turned behind a tree to be out of eye-sight of Ava and disappeared. Hiding himself in shadows before appearing again behind the unaware priestess, smirking and patting her back as he walked past. "...but I'll manage~" usually he didn't flaunt his skills this openly to a stranger but he was bored and needed some entertainment.

@keizerin

Ava gasped at the sudden reappearance of Nocturne, watching him walk past her. "I can understand wanting to stay hidden..." she responded, holding her wooden staff to her chest. "But you seem to be more than capable, if you don't mind me saying. Your quick wit and charm is a handy trait, and I'm sure your blades are more than just show... Is there a reason you hide?" Ava eyed his cloak and hood, and recalled the mask he wore when they first met.

@ShadowSketches

Nocturne turned around, raising his eyebrow and smiling at the curious priestess "Is there a reason you wander around the woods alone with your bare feet?" He said as he circled around Ava slowly "Is there a reason you try to hide your pretty face underneath your hood?" he stops behind her and leans in to hold his face near her's as he whispered quietly into her ear. The air around them growing cold and tense as his threatening aura grew stronger, the same aura that has terrified many men and women, birds stopped chirping and the regular noises of nature became muffled with the only sound being heard was the blowing of the wind. His tail began swishing back and forth underneath his cloak almost as if it was being provoked, his black iris transforming into a dark shade of red "We all have our reasons dear Ava, we both have a purpose for hiding in shadows..." but then, just as quickly as it came, the aura diminished. His tail went still and his eyes returned to their normal color.

Teasingly blowing air into the priestess's ear, he smiled and began to walk slightly ahead of her again. "Come along now Ava, we have quite the journey ahead of us" he said in a more charming voice, winking at her teasingly.

The air around them suddenly felt suffocating, chilling, and Ava instinctively looked down at her shoeless feet, her toes scrunching in the dirt. The tone once again turned cold and threatening, and the dead were silent. She could only hear Nocturne's voice and her own hammering heartbeat.

And then, as soon it had come, the suffocating feeling was gone. Her companion was charming and warm once again.

Ava frowned, straightening her back as her grip tightened around the face carvings, trudging along behind him. "You're mocking me, aren't you?" she questioned him sternly, her voice rising and her cheeks flaming. "I would answer were you not asking simply to ridicule me, sir."

A horse with a saddle walks out of the trees into Ava's and Nocturnes path. It stopped and looked at them.

(Imagine a Saddle) @keizerin @ShadowSketches

"My sweet Ava, I'm not ridiculing you, I just answered your question with two of my own." Nocturne replied matter of factly, in all honesty he was just using this chance to tease her. Travelling alone could get deathly boring quite easily and this priestess was ironically one of the first companions in a while that have not felt something off about him and ran for their lives, or worse, "tried" to take his own. "Our reasons for doing what we do is our own for others to decipher, unless we choose to inform them what our reasons are" he said as he noticed the birds' songs returning, the sweet sound of chirps were momentarily put off by his menacing aura but nature always moves on and continues what it has always done.

Suddenly he heard the recognizable clip-clop of hooves hitting the ground; it didn't sound like it was in a hurry but still, a wandering horse would not usually be walking around by itself this close to them, especially considering the intense threatening aura he had radiated moments ago. But after a little while later a lone horse walked from out of the trees and bushes to stand in their way, staring at the duo with dull eyes as he patted his hooves to ground without a care in the world. Nocturne whistled through his teeth, impressed at the horse's courage, or stupidity, he wasn't sure which yet. Slowly walking up to the lone horse, Nocturne whispered softly and reassuringly to the horse as he stroked his black and white fur. The beast shaking his head slightly but not separating itself from his touch "I don't suppose your good with animals, are you?" he aimed his question at Ava.

The horse simply turns its head, letting the demon approach. He blows out air through his mouth. The horse had food and water on it. For the previous rider and the horse alike. The horse only came here because he was just wandering, they just happened to be in his path. The Horse seemed well rested, young, and healthy. Though it was dirty, and smelled kind of bad. @ShadowSketches

"Can you stop bothering so much about what might happen? We've still got a whole day and-a-half to go. I said that we will decide once we're there." To Robin, planning ahead for something that might happen, something so minor was annoying and seemed to her like it was just whining. Besides, she didn't want to hear more of it when they stop for a mid-day rest. The sun's gone past it's zenith, just a little after mid day. "Anyone need to rest a while?" She asks, hoping it'll get them off the topic.

"I could use a short sit-down" Kirk admits with a grunt as he rolls his shoulder. A fit man no doubt, but in his aging years he's starting to lose some of his once youthful vigor.

The Elves of Forked Vale heard first the return of the unknown enemy. The heavy lumbering stomps of the flesh golem. A magical alarm sounds, calling forth more warriors and even the elf sages. The rangers arrows harry and assault the golem's legs. They know from knowledge that simple arrows hold no threat against creations of dead flesh, only that they can slow it's approach. Mages would be the real threats, tearing it's flesh with magic, setting it alight, and melting portions of it with acid. But it takes quite a bit punishment to take it down. The golem thing reaches the wooden wall, and grabs hold of it by the lip. With a heave of effort, it pulls a section of the wall down, splintering and breaking the wood apart. It's hands are left bloody and full of wood shards. Far too nimble to be caught, the Elves abuse their advantage of distance, wearing the beast down. Sure it's broken in to the wall, but already it's nearly destroyed.

Jonathan nods. He wasn't one for military planning anyway, but Yaro seemed to insist. "I'm all with you Kirk. Sittin' down sounds like a blessing to these small legs o' mine!" he says, his pace beginning to slow down. "How about I play us a ditty while we're at it. Always takes me mind off of things. Preferences?" he asks. The idea of taking a moment by the wayside to rest themselves got Jonathan in high spirits. And looking at Kirk would probably be appreciated.

Yaro just shook his head. It may seem hypocritical now, since Yaro's reaction last night, but Yaro did prefer to plan ahead. Last night was an exception, due to the fact that he had a fierce vengeance burning in his head. His death made him cautious, and he planned on making the most of his second chance.

When everyone was getting ready to take a rest, Yaro looked around. "I'll lay down in a bit. Want to check out the nearby area. See If I'll find anything useful. "He said, as he began prepping up his gear. He was still going to at least help make camp before he wandered off for a bit. Robin would know, however, that his walk was little more than to blow off steam. He used to do it whenever he had a problem, as it'd clear his head.

@Foxgirl Jay (My bad.)

Seeing the walls being breached and the Siege beast being pelted by magic, Enigma takes this chance to help the Siege Beast while slaying elves at the same time. He disappears into black smoke, quickly travelling over to a mages location.[How many are there by the way?] His sword already unsheathed, he reels him arm back to prepare for a thrust. He thrusts his sword towards the Elf's chest, grunting. He was going to have to take the elves out quickly, he wanted the Siege Beast to stay alive if he had to be honest with himself. After all, he hadn't been able to walk the material world for centuries at least.

[shorter post. Sorry.]

Where did that accursed horse wander off to? Anaya knew she wasn't the best with animals but certainly it couldn't be beyond her abilities to control a simple horse? Maybe so... Still, the girl paid good coin for the beast and the fact of whether or not it liked her matter little, she wasn't going to let it get away. The horse could not have wandered too far seeing as she only took her eyes off of it for a second to check her map. After searching the immediate area for any clues, Anaya found a set of hoof prints leading away into a stand of trees and bushes. Following the tracks, she finally caught sight of the escaped animal, except it appeared to have met a few new friends.

She couldn't help but let out a small, worried sigh. Hopefully the strangers hadn't become too attached and intend to keep the animal for themselves, Anaya didn't fancy a fight but the thought of continuing her journey on foot when she could have ridden a horse also did not sit well with her. Well, a few friendly words never hurt anyone. Taking a deep breath, she slipped through the bushes, one hand raised in a greeting as a smile spread across her face. "Pardon me! Thank you very much for finding my horse, the poor fellow happened to wander away from me when I stopped to check my map."

Kirk and Robin find a spot off the side of the road to rest themselves a while. Though, Robin was likely the least tired of her mortal companions. A chubby halfling and a veteran soldier just didn't have the youthful vigor of an adventuring girl. "So Jon, where are you from anyways? I don't know many towns with halfling families around the north side of the Palatinate. I'm just from a town a little south of here, Dyrford." She adds, not to make it a one-sided exchange.

Kirk makes a good show of pouting, but with a good-natured air about it. "Ah, sure! The old forgotten veteran doesn't intrest the ladies, I get it."

Robin laughs. "Fine then Sir Kirk, Knight and war Hero, what town are you from?"

"Unfortunately not a knight... just Infantry. And it's no town. I was born in Defiance Bay. By the end of the war, it was getting damn close to fighting to protect my home." He says with a shake of his head.

The mage feels the shifting shadows before he can see them, and through a form of combat clairvoyance, he brings his simple metal staff, the head a circular ring encasing the focusing gem, about to block the incoming blade with the staff. A burst of magical force knocks them both away from eachother a few steps. "I know not your purpose here, Rau'ko, but your mutant or yourself will not prevail." He has a heavy accent; the common tongue is unfamiliar to him, out of practice. The Elves here typically keep to themselves, only interacting with merchants and travelers. He wields his staff as a weapon, rather than a magical catalyst. "Take your creature and your life and begone." He chants a spell in elvish, "Bragollach en' poldora!" and thrusts his hand at the large armored warrior. Another blue burst of magical force, directed entirely at the warrior to try and put distance between them. The mage holds no illusions; he cannot fight a melee demon one on one, with just a staff. He needs space.

A few elves have perished to the Siege Beast, unable to run away, or unlucky.

Ava frowned at Nocturne, letting out a sigh as she pat the horse gently on the nose. "It isn't hard to be 'good with animals', sir," she told him, caressing the horse's head. "Kindness and respect is typically all it takes to make friends with them..." The priestess smiled at the horse, but gave her companion a weary look over her shoulder. "You're not planning on taking the horse, are you?" she asked him.

Beware, girlie, another stranger is approaching, a spirit whispered, causing Ava's hand to retreat back to her staff.

She turned, a woman appearing from the bushes and greeting them with a smile. Retreating behind Nocturne, she eyed the stranger with caution, staying silent. The stranger seemed friendly and relatively harmless, but she still hoped her companion would not invite her along, the fewer people she had to travel with the better... but something told her that that would not be the case. The man at her side looked like the type who would love to have a pretty face keep him company, or he at least try to use that silver tongue of his to get her horse.
