Avery looked down at them, with his hand red, puffy, and almost halfway cut off.

Avery pulled his bleeding, infected arm off the grate, and slowly got up. He walked up the stairs to meet Keon with a heavy limp

She watched as Keon ran to Avery. She smiled and continued to shoot the zombies.
