Realistic or Modern Will You Survive?

"Are you thinkin' of fortifying the apartment? Cause the way you're looking at the builiding, It doesn't feel good." He said as he looked at cam, well, he really felt that the apartment would make a good permanent home but he wasn't too sure about it.

"Nice to meet you Sam...sorry it has to be in the midst of humanity's impending doom" Cassandra said, as she twirled the fire poker in her hand and inspected the girl in front of her.

After a few seconds she seemed to make up her mind, and the twirling stopped. Cassandra decided she liked this girl: she was blunt, quick on her feet, and didn't ask questions...and that was kinda rare nowadays. "Okay here's the thing Sam. I don't do survival groups, they usually end up badly for EVERYONE involved" She mumbled bluntly "BUT I'm always up for some mutual collaboration, and I see you can handle yourself...so maybe we can help each other".

Cassandra offered the girl a devilish smirk "So what do you say? Wanna do some good old scavenging?" She said "I'll watch your back, you'll watch mine...hopefully you won't stab me...we'll get some sweet loot. It's a win-win situation"

James pulls out a LED glow stick out of his bag as he holds it in one hand and the other the battery, he slips through easily through some tight spaces, it was dark but damp, as he made his way to a generator, old and dirty, probably not even functioning, but it was. Then on his right a stacked five by six car batteries all tucked near the fuse box with many wires of different colors all connected to it as James places his into a the corner of the missing spot, now completing it. He takes the longest cable out of his bag and connects both its charges with the fuse box, he turns to his right and a large gray wall box is seen as he opens it, it was all of the overdrive switches on turning off or on power to anything in the tower. He flips off all the switches to light, computers, everything except one: the aircraft warning lights.

He would use it as a beacon on one of the tallest towers for any survivor to see, far enough for those to use it as landmark, he calculated for a bit and the signal would only last about two hours top, and that's with everything else turned off so the beacon would only have a limited time before lights out again. He decided to wait until night for the most effective and efficient way of its usage, as he lays down on the wall and closes his eyes for a bit.

Sam nodded. "Sure. Sounds like a plan, partner." She mouthed with a small smirk. It had been quite some time since Sam was last with anyone in this hell. Even longer since it was a female companion. It was pretty sweet to find someone who was willing to watch your back and go loot hunting so fast, but it was already the afternoon and the girl's would have to work fast before night if they wanted to live longer.

Sam mentally shook herself and pointed to a near by store. "Let's hit that place up. Looks like it could be a treasure trove." He mouthed, meaning it as a joke though it likely wasn't funny since it wasn't actually spoken in the sarcastic tone she'd of meant it in. Good day so far. Met a girl who's rad as fuck, and killed some zombies. I'd say its been pretty productive..in a strange way. She thought to herself, the tiny smirk escalating slightly.

@Mayhem

The store was a pretty obvious target...too obvious if you asked Cassandra. But considering today had a been a complete failure when it came to looting (the apartment had been a fucking flop), she concluded there wasn't much too loose.

"It's not ideal, but the good thing about stores is that they are the first things to get ransacked...and in their hurry people usually forget shit or they don't look in all the places" She mused out loud as she touched the new lighter in her pocket "Maybe we'll find something useful..."

She turned toward Sam "We get in fast, and we get out just as fast...I don't want to be around here at night" She said as she tried to hide the nervousness in her voice. She had heard about the zombies that only came at night..everybody had.

@xEmoBunnehx

Sam nodded wishing the same thing Cece did. Night was terrifying; even if you have been in the apocalypse for three years. "In and out. Should be easy enough." She mouthed, then turned on a booted heel and headed for the store; knife in hind and at the ready. Sam normally wasn't one to really stick around looting for long anyways. If she didn't find anything in a certain about of minutes, then she left and didn't look back. She never liked staying in one place or looking for too long, it was risky..too risky for her liking and now she had a partner to look after. Not that Sam really minded her new partner, they could both handle themselves well, but it would really suck if she lost the girl she just met because they decided to stick around..unprotected and in the dark. In and out. Fast. Quick. Take only what you need an nothing more. She repeated in her head as she walked, hoping Cece as behind her.

@Mayhem ((Sorry. I've been really busy x.x))

Hanni wandered through the aisles of an empty store located somewhere in the streets of Haven, New York. Her hands were intertwined behind her back as she hummed quietly to herself. Bloodshot eyes hidden beneath her bangs searched for any possible morsel to store in her little mouse hole. Upon seeing a bag of chips on a secluded shelf, she quickly snatched it like it would just disappear any second. A sigh of disappointment escaped her when noticing it was empty and used. She grumbled to herself about false hope as she continued searching. Her stomach yearned for something to eat.

It felt weird tagging along with someone else again, and Cassandra couldn't make up her mind if that was a bad feeling or just a fucked up one. She watched Sam walk in front of her, and she couldn't help but list in her head all the way this situation could, and probably WOULD go wrong.

They finally arrived to the front of the store, and after making sure no one (or nothing) was on sight Cassandra signaled to Sam that they could go in. The store looked pretty empty, but Cassandra didn't raise her hopes up...she knew that was usually a sign so trouble.

This is how really bad ideas start,
Cassandra thought as her grip around her weapon tightened and she stepped inside.

@xEmoBunnehx (Sorry for the delay and shitty post, I've been feeling like crap these last few days!!)

Hannah ran at the door and held in her breath right before hitting it. It barely budged. "Damn it..." She muttered. The door had something pinned against it, she assumed a bookcase, and was almost too heavy for her to move. She was looting in an apartment complex but so far hadn't found anything. Luckily, no zombies seemed to be around except for the ones trapped in a few rooms. The one she was trying to get into didn't have any or at least she couldn't tell yet. It was unlikely as it was pretty quiet in the room aside from her throwing herself at the door. Hannah tried again and this time the door moved a little more. A grinding sound came from the floor in distress as the object weighing the door down was being pushed across it. Another rock was added between the door and the wall so it couldn't close shut again. One more try was all she figured it would take, otherwise she was going to have to stop for a while or just completely leave the door as running at the door was starting to hurt her shoulder. She ran and the door moved a lot more, though not completely. It was just barely enough to slip in with her bag but she would have to be careful as the door would push back shut without her holding it open. She turned around and placed her right foot on the door frame to give some extra pushing power and she slid towards the right. Once she was ready she ran through the small gap into the room and the door slammed behind her. "Almost correct." Hannah muttered as she looked at what was actually a dresser.

The room was a mess. All sorts of things were thrown around, trash was everywhere, and a dead body topped it all off. They had shot themselves in the head, the gun still laying in their hand. Hannah walked over to check if it had any ammo left. Nothing. Their last bullet was used to end their life. It didn't matter to much to her, as she preferred using anything but guns due to how much attention they bring. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to have one just in case she supposed.

After looking around for a few minutes she found nothing of use. Sighing, she turned to look at the dresser. It would be easier to just push it onto its side instead of trying to lift it off the door so she did just that. A loud crash followed and she knew if there was anyone nearby they definitely would have heard it. Something else grabbed her attention, however. Inside the dresser she heard something fall free, and it had enough of a thump to not just be clothes. She opened each drawer until she found the mystery item. "Well, I'll be damned." Hannah laughed out loud. Had she looked in all the drawers she would've found it earlier. The item was an MRE, or 'Meal, Ready-to-Eat'. All Hannah knew about them was that they were used in the military and a lot of them were deemed disgusting. No matter how it tasted, and it being three years just since the start of the apocalypse meaning the meal was probably quite a few olds and a little stale, she thought it to be the Holy Grail of findings. She put it away without reading it and rolled the dresser away from the door. In her new-found excitement she paced out of the apartment building.

((If you couldn't tell I had nothing to do before writing this big ass piece of text just to find some food, you can now. ;D))

As Sam entered the rather small convenient store, she took note of how...clean things were. Odd..normally there's blood and a bad smell... She thought to herself as she looked around. Of course the shelves were knocked over, glass laying about and the normal for ransacked stores; except the blood. It just..seemed like the place got robbed.

Sam stole a glace at Cece and could almost swear the girl was thinking the same thing as her..it was clean. Too clean. Aw fuck. What have we walked into..She thought, her gut almost immediately churning and groaning with bad feelings about this place. Sam moved forward, carefully not to make a sound as she did so. At this point she was already to get out of here, as well as she was clutching her knife tightly; the symbol on it baring into her palm once more.

@Mayhem ((It's cool :P I haven't felt so hot myself. I've also been super busy so. My Replied will be pretty delayed also.))

Cassandra turned around to look at Sam, and for a second she was actually quite glad to find the same alarm in the other girl's eyes. The whole thing was just weird, too weird.

Trying to convey the message as best as she could, Cassandra used her hands to signal Sam that they would only take a quick look around before they bolted out of there. Hopefully they wouldn't die in the process.

Taking two tentative steps forward, Cassandra reached a nearby empty shelf, and used it as cover to take a peak around. Thankfully the sun was still up out there, and enough light came inside the store so that things were still visible. But the store seemed empty..."seemed" being the key word.

Cassandra was about to turn around to look at Sam and shake her head, when she suddenly heard a noise. It was a small noise, the kind of noise that could've easily been harmless 3 years ago...but now it was a noise that just screamed trouble. It was the soft crackle of a bag of chips.

@xEmoBunnehx

Sm nodded to Cece's signal, understanding what it basically meant. Sam had started to search around silently, minding her own business but also keeping up alert as precaution. She'd almost scouted an entire shelf when she heard it; the crinkle. It made her nearly jump, but she quickly spun on her heel and looked over at Cece. The girl was on the same alert, she was also not the source of the sound lie Sam had hoped. Shit shit shit. Pleaseeeee be an animal.. please? Her thoughts begged as she moved slightly closer to Cece, her knife held in a defensive position as she readied herself for an attack, though her mind was telling her too book it out of here in the off chance that it as something bad.

Romaine and her cousin Anna carefully walked their way down the mountain munching on the still warm acorn pancakes that she had made not to long ago.They passed the can that had once held her very expensive perfume that she had once been able to buy lots of now....ya no.she kept one of her two pistols ready to fire at any of the nasty dead creatures that her and her cousin Anna used to joke about not being real when they had made their zombie series Undead Do Us Part.Once she and Anna finished their supper Romaine put the can in one of her pockets to be cleaned later by her once they had gathered some needed supplies.As they made their way slowly to the bottom she removed her mittens, hat and scarf and shoved them into her empty pockets.as the ground grew nearer she put some of her bobby pins in her hair to keep it out of her face.now that her right hand was empty she took out her other pistol and got it ready for firing.

"So Anny why you so quiet!?!? I know it is supposed to be depressing and we all might die but that does not mean we can't die laughing! come on don't you remember how much we had to redo the scene when my "boyfriend" died?" she let out a laugh as she nudged her cus.

Anna finished the last morsel of Romaine's "pancakes", if that was what they could be called, that she had made out of acorn paste earlier that morning. The starchy loaf-like texture was horribly bland and had a slight bitter aftertaste but her empty stomach didn't object as much as her palette. Not wanting to spoil her cousin's bright mood, she forced down the meal and smiled at the light haired girl before ensuring her of the "pancake's" quality.

To her right Max trotted happily beside her, his pink tongue hanging contently from his mouth as the three made their decent down from the mountainous wilds surrounding the city and into the suburban edges of Haven. Although she never liked the idea of wandering back into the zombie 'hotspot' Anna knew that they needed to restock on some supplies. 'At least everything is looking clear' she thought, 'Max hasn't picked up anything yet, so that's a good sign.'

Her thoughts were interrupted when Romaine spoke up about their last film and met her question with a wide grin. "Yeah, we kept having to do re-takes because one of the guys playing as a zombie kept having uncontrollable laughing fits from Mr. Dreamy's lines." she said with a chuckle.

Faraday shifts the strap of her leather bag over her shoulder as she slowly glances around a corner, her eyes scanning over the passageway between two buildings. Her food supply was running low, and she knew that without basic necessities, all her work will have to come to a halt...besides, she had other motives behind taking this path.

The coast was clear.

Faraday slowly walks between the two buildings, keeping an eye on any doors that may have been open. Her heels create a quiet clicking sound that quietly echo throughout the alleyway. She was not one to be taken by surprise.. She pauses for a moment once she reaches the opening at the other end, a sly smirk forming on her face.

"Well isn't this peachy..."

Before her roams approximately a dozen zombies, staggering around in a small parking lot. She gently rests her hand on a dagger strapped to her left thigh for quick reassurance.

" Well, I couldn't have planned this out any better myself... oh wait" Faraday laughs at herself as she straightens her leather jacket.

Having lived in this city for the whole three years of the outbreak, she has developed an odd sense of humor with her "subjects", as well as a familiarity of them. She slowly walks to the edge of the parking lot, watching them for a moment. In the center of the parking lot stood a large jar that she set there the previous day. The contents inside were indistinguishable to an inexperienced eye, but it was a solution she crafted herself. A little secret recipe, she would like to call it.

She continues to walk over to a small fenced area, well aware that at this time, they were aware of her and have diverted their attention from the aroma and towards her. She grabs her keys from inside her bag to unlock the fence, she calmly enters inside and locks the gate behind her as she looks around at her surroundings before turning back to look at the gate at which she came through. The rattling sound of the fence quickly grows as she stares at three of them reaching their degrading hands through the holes. She walks up closer to the fence as she slides her hands into a pair of plastic gloves. Taking a worn rope out of a pouch on her bag, she loops it into a noose before guiding it around the pair of arms of one of the zombies. She tugs on the rope resulting in it tightening around the wrists, holding the zombie against the fence, oblivious to its predicament.

She takes another quick glance over her shoulder before taking out her dissection kit to withdraw a pre-prepped syringe, containing a yellowish liquid in which she plunges into its arm before disposing of the glove on the ground.

She nods her head, as if taking note of all the steps that were taken before turning to walk towards a building, as if this was becoming routine.

Romaine rolled her eyes.

"you know I only loved him in the movie because i had to!And he was just looks.....nothing else.So what is the 411?What is the things that we need so we can get in and out before the zombies even realize that we were there." she said as she twirled the guns on her index fingers.she whistled a little tune not waiting for an answer she, of course would listen to see if anything changed but so far no one said anything was different.she looked to see how far away the ground was and was shocked to see that it was 3 steps away.she not wanting to wait jumped down onto the ground landing on the balls of her feet.she whistled and max came ruining down and stood on his hind legs putting his front paws on her waist for balance.she pat his head as she waited for her cousin.

@Juju

Anna smiled slyly and crossed her arms. "mmhhmm... Don't think I didn't see the way he looked at you. I think he actually liked you!" Anna took a quick look at the distance from the rock to the ground where Romaine and Max had jumped to before she followed after them. Her landing was slightly less graceful as her practiced companion and landed in an almost crouching position, using her arms to absorb some of the shock. She got up and dusted herself off. "Well, it wouldn't hurt to get some more canned food" she said to her companion. "I have an idea, but we need to side track a bit. I promise it will pay off."

After fishing through her bag of supplies for a brief moment, her hand came up with a small pair of binoculars in her grasp. Using their elevated view point to her advantage, she looked through the lens and scanned the area for threats whilst looking for the building that would help her idea unfurl. In a sudden sweet moment the blue and white building appeared in her circle of vision. "There it is!" she said while pointing to the distant building beside the chipped sign labeled "Information Centre"

"If we can get a tourist brochure, it will really pay off in the long run. I bet that no one has thought to sack it too... who thinks to pick up a brochure?" she said excitedly, hoping that she was right. "And I only spotted one body on the street, which I'm pretty sure twitched when I looked at it."

Crouching down, she put her binoculars back into the pocket on her bag and unslung her bow from over her shoulder. Max attempted to lick her arm as she stretched the bow string and tested her aim on a leaf fluttering on a nearby tree, earning himself a pat on the head.

@Fluffykitty9000

Faraday sighs as she walks up the steps, acknowledging that the door is shut, just like when she last left it a couple weeks ago. This small building was surrounded by an enclosed fence, weak as it was, it supplied her some confidence when coming back and forth. Faraday slowly turns the knob before pushing the door open as she stands in the doorway. Some light shines between the boarded windows, offering little light for the insides of this small food market.

Faraday shuts the door behind her as she steps in and places her bag on top of a counter, close to a shelf containing canned foods. She gently slides her index finger along the labels. This market has been a great resource for her, being on the outskirts of town, it was not hit by many before she found it... now just she remains on this part of town, for all she knows. Having limited space in her bag, and her home being a good half a days walk away, she needed to pick wisely. Every time she leaves her temporary lab, she knows that there is risk of error. It's only -human-, of course.

She begins to select different food items, packing them tightly into her bag, keeping an eye on the rays of light coming through the window to monitor the time of day.

It is a true wonder how long Hanni was able to survive the zombie apocalypse for this long and just have gotten the virus activated. She's always reckless and a total looney bin with no regards over the conditions of her life. Maybe that's the secret to surviving the end of all mankind. Just lose your sanity and even your conscience while you're at it. Beheading zombies is an extra bonus. Or maybe not. Three years is still not enough to show the secret of surviving an airborne virus that causes terrible symptoms specifically done just so you can drop dead (literally) and get reborn as a flesh-eating monster. Life is a cruel mystery.

The bag of empty hopes and chips fell out of the only living descendent of the Bagrott family, along with a noise that caught the attention of some company. She blew on her bangs for more visage but it just ended up getting back in place as always. Slowly her little fingers traced upon the handle of her machete, the air around the store suddenly getting colder. Her expression did not showed what thoughts may be raiding her head until a maniacal grin formed upon her features. The abnormally long blade flew away from her side as her hand quickly swiped at it in thin air. She twirled to the nearest shelf and jumped over some fallen crates till the machete was just an inch away from the neck of living undead human being called Sam. Her eyes trailed to the girl's companion, her grin still present and the machete still staying at place. The only difference from before was her frayed hair and slightly crazed green eyes covered by stands of, well, more frayed hair.

"Oh. You're still alive. Isn't that nice!"

Romaine made sure that both her pistols had full ammo before she and her cousin continued to the Information Center.as they walked closer to the city she could see small groups of zombies walking around.the disgusting sent of dead filled the air, she had breath out of her mouth so she would not barf.

"so food and a brochure and some random things that we find along the way.Nice." they crouched as they walked passed some zombies.they stood up when it was clear of the nasty buggers.she looked up to see the dirt covered and broken sign of the Information Center.she stepped over the shattered glass door and walked into the Center with both her guns ready.

@Juju

Anna let her breath out in a sigh of relief when they made it to the information centre without alerting the zombies. She stopped in the doorway and pointed inside. "Max, scout." she said to the dog waiting patiently beside her. At her command he crouched down and crept slowly into the building, sniffing around with his muzzle for any sign of the undead. After a couple of moments the canine returned with his tail wagging and looked up at Anna expectantly. She gave him a pat on the head and a "good boy'' before she crept into the centre as well. There was signs of a struggle, having chairs and papers scattered everywhere, but beside the odd stain here and there the building didn't look in too bad of condition.

Anna turned to her human companion. "Okay Romaine, lets look for anything useful. Remember, try and pick up a tourist brochure or any other map of the area." she said lowly before walking over to the remains of the front desk, Max following at her heels. "Watch out for zombies, okay buddy?" she said to the dog. As if in response the dog wagged his tail.

James woke up slowly, giving out his opened but quiet yawn, he scratches his head a few times. He decides to sees how long his dirt nap was and exits the basement. The sun was moving, the air still stale, he then had a moment and remembered what he was dreaming about, he dragged the desks, making its screeching rubbing against the floor, he had removed all stuff off the desks beforehand: Drawers, computers, wires and made a chokepoint in the corridor of elevators and the stairway to the upper work floors and down stairs basement.

He sat cross legged behind the chokepoint and a little while his stomach grumbled, he zipped open his backpack and took out a spoon and a clear container with about a third of stale rice. He ate only about a sixth of the rice and drank and a tenth of water. He was still running low on supplies even with strict diet, he was gonna have to wait until dawn for another scavenge. Or even possibly dusk.

Romaine walked around the information centre with both her pistols ready.she stepped over another shattered door.inside was a office,her cousin was looking at the front desk so she decided to check inside.she walked in.there was 3 selves,2 of witch were on the floor.she looked at the one standing up nothing but there was nothing in it but old paper.she put the paper in her bag for fire.she looked at the back.there was a old brown desk with a door behind it.on the desk was a pen and paper with red blobs on it.she walked around to the side guns raised in cation.she let out a sigh nothing was behind the desk.

Then bam! The door behind the desk flu open a zombie came out she shot it but the zombie tackled her and the bullet hit the ceiling.the zombie managed to get a scratch across her face and 2 on her right arm and leg before she was able to shot it in the eye hitting the brain.she pushed the zombie of her and stood up limping a little in her step as she walked to the door were the zombie had come from.inside there were no more zombies, but the door was covered in scratches and on the wall there was tics marked in blood.there was also a little pink bed and a teddy,next to the bed was a photo with a bloody fingerprint.in the picture was a little girl a fat man and a short women.the man had been the zombie that had attacked her.there was also a brochure on the floor.she grabbed the brochure and walked out of the room.she slambed the door shut and pushed the desk In front of it.then she limped out and went to her cushion and said.

"Let's go.Now!"

Cassandra didn't get to do much, mostly because when the girl started jumping around her first thought was "It's a fucking hybrid zombie and I did not sign up for this shit". Her whole body froze for a second, before her run-for-your-life instinct kicked in, and she took a step back to get some impulse and get the hell out of there. But then the girl got close enough so that they could see her face...and then the she had a machete next to Sam's neck.

For a second Cassandra contemplated the idea of getting out of there and saving herself the trouble, because that girl looked like bad news. But after some quick consideration she concluded it would be kind of a dick move considering Sam had given her a lighter.

A la mierda,
she hissed through gritted teeth before she took a few steps back, reached for her gun in the inside of her jacket, and aimed it right at the girl's face.

"Fucking delightful. Now put the blade down" she said in response to the girl's comment.

Truth be told, Cassandra wasn't a big fan of using guns in the zombie apocalypse and she always tried to make it her last resort. BUT she had a bunch of reasons why: they were fucking loud and attracted too much attention, the bullets were sparse, and if you actually HAD bullets then you suddenly became a nice target for bandits. However, on the other hand, guns were fucking scary...and that was always useful.

The moment the shelf crashed down Sam knew it, it was the end for her and honestly...she'd accept death at the point which is exactly why she seemed impassive when a machete was at her neck. Oh look. I have a few more seconds to live before the afterlife claims me. Great. She though dully as her eyes looked from the blade up an arm and to a face of a crazed human girl? Boy? Who cares. She didn't. Sam let out a very soft sigh as she lowered her knife and looked over to Cece. Oh? A gun? Hm. How will this play out. The person in front of me seems to have lost their sanity and Cece has a gun. Now..If my wits were about which they are..kind of. I'd go to wager the insanity eating away at the person could swing one of two ways.. they could kill me or Cece or both of us. Either way this situation does not look good for us. Sam thought, her more analytical side playing a bit as she looked between Cece and and insane person before her. Wonder if they can speak in sign language.. She thought to herself as she raised her empty had and signed. "Cool blade." Her face still impassive and emotionless as she watched for a reaction from the person if any where to come.
