Realistic or Modern Where the Werewolves Go

Inky Momma

Normal Is Boring
Where We Begin
As Forest Rangers, we are strong believers in teamwork, faith, and most importantly: family. Without each other, we would be lost. Everyone here is a ranger, whether they were skilled or born to protect. We all have our differences. But what most people don't know is: we are werewolves. As a pack, we are what brings us together. No one gets left behind. We consider every ranger a pack member even if they are human and clueless of our kin, like most of the humans here. While it is our job to protect the visitors from harm in the forest, and to ensure they are content, it's also our job to keep our species a secret from the clueless.

You have already gone through your training to become a forest ranger, whether it be years ago or recent. You know that peculiar things have occurred around the range: such as frequent bear attacks. Often times we will get reports of "strange" bears standing on two legs creeping in the night around town. When certain reports like these occur, we make sure that nobody in our pack accidentally shifted and scared the poor people. It's already a number one rule that shifts should only occur on territory around no humans, or in the forest around no humans. Never in town, so these reports could possibly be real...or another pack has been pranking humans.

As a member of the pack you have been accepted by the alpha. (We no longer need to role play the introduction but we can talk about HOW you were accepted if you'd like). You know your ways around the station and you're familiar with how things are run here. You know that the human rangers are clueless of werewolves. You know that no matter the risks, we need to keep that secret from them. You also know that if they are to find out about our kind, it is our responsibility to ensure their security that they are safe with werewolves. The humans should find out about our kind on their own, we should never expose our secret even if they're a best friend or close loved one.

As a human, you are clueless that werewolves even exist. In your eyes, you see a tightly knitted group of friends and family. The reports that people seem to be filing seem real to you. You almost believe them, but there are certain things that you notice on territory. There are certain things that the rangers joke about which you've noticed to be odd. At some point (if you wish), your character will discover our species on your own. Whether it be on accident or on purpose. Once you discover the truth of the Forest Rangers, you have the choice to become one of us or remain human. Regardless of the choice, it must be kept a secret from the rest of the world.

On the flip side, we have to be kept fully aware of our surroundings. We must by any means trust our guts when meeting people. There may be hunters out there...Trust is the aspect of life as a ranger. If a ranger can sense that a visitor seems....odd, this must always be reported. Whether it's a weird gut - feeling or a strange scent emanating from the visitor. Anything suspicious must be reported to the alpha. Both werewolves and humans in the pack know this. But only the werewolves in the pack fully understand that these things should be reported in order to prevent werewolf hunters...

There is nothing in particular going on at the moment. Everyone is free to go on about their daily lives. We tend to have campfire nights often and we like to have pack hunts at least once a month. Right now there are no curfews. Make sure to be safe and report anything that you think is related to werewolf hunters to Chief or Mark.

For now there will be no order. Anyone can reply whenever they feel the need to since this is a new start.

Feel free to Navigate and find the right spots where you need to talk to us, apply, and role play:

Anna licks her lips nervously, adjusting her leather jacket, knowing full well that she looks fine. She’s just very, very nervous right now. She combs her dark hair back, wincing a bit as she notices a bit of pale root at the base. That’s not great for first impressions.

Sure, it’s her first day, orientation and all that, and that’s one thing. She can deal with that. Then, of course, there is the fact that she’s the only goddamned human in this meeting. On the other hand, the plan is that by the end of the night, she won’t be human at all.

She closes her eyes, and takes a deep, slow breath. This is all going to be fine. She’s strong, she can do this. And from the way it looks, these people are a real family. Anna needs to feel that again.

With her emotions all in their proper places in her mind, Anna looks in the mirror, smiles slightly, and steps outside to join the pack at the campfire. This is the beginning of a new life for Anna Vess, and she is ready.

Inky Momma Inky Momma

It's been a nearly a week since his station of rangers graduated from their training. After this orientation, it will be their first day of officially being a ranger. Their status will change from trainee to trained. Succeeding to succeeded. From pups to brothers and sisters. It's been very clear that his future rangers have shown him what they're made of. And he's proud to admit that he's trained them very well to this day. Now he awaits in his office as he gathers everything on the surface of his desk. Orientation will consist of one on one training, the last training they will ever receive. Typically after everyone has signed the paperwork, the real meeting will commence - the initiation.

Chief's office would be easy to find, they should all know where it is by now. The alpha would be found within its walls, adorned with deer and moose heads as decoration. It definitely had a cabin feel to it, much like every other cabin in the territory. Regardless, Chief would be standing over his desk, holding a packet of papers in his hands as he tapped the bottom of the packet against the surface, making sure they were perfectly straight and organized.

Glancing at his wrist, Chief's eyes shifted to the long minute hand on his watch. She should be here soon. His eyes narrowed at the ticking screen of his watch before he looked back to his paperwork filled with questions for him to ask her. He had a soft spot for Anna. It wasn't every day you meet a female who yearned to become a forest ranger, let alone someone who wanted to be part of something. She's not the only human in the pack, but she had the opportunity to discover their true kin, werewolves. Today will be the day he would ask her if she would like the bite. The bite that would change her life forever.

Chief's eyes shifted to the door of his office. It was only ten minutes early to her 1x1 orientation. He watched as Anna strolled towards the campfire proudly. Confidence radiating from the woman. It made him smile under his mustache. He let out a huff, before tucking everything into a folder which would be neatly tucked under his arm against his hip with a clipboard. On his way out, Chief snatched the ranger hat that hung over the coat hanger and slapped it over his long black hair. While it was long and met with his rib cage, the alpha had it in a big braid as to not get in the way of everything. He opened the door, causing the bell to ding its normal annoying ding.

With a confident strut in his steps, the tall werewolf headed towards the female as he approached the firefit. "Vess." He addressed her by last name as they always do. He gave her a short nod as he stopped at the firepit next to her. They stood a mere few feet apart. The sunrise barely peeked over the roofs of each cabin, dappling its pink and orange rays over the freshly cut grass, giving the promising smell of morning. "Morning." Brown eyes mixed with hope and eagerness for the female in front of him. "You've done the hardest part of becoming a ranger. The training." HIs voice was plain and to the point as he continued. "Are you ready to begin your initiation."

Anna hears Chief before she sees him, having been gazing into the sunrise. She turns her head to look at him, feeling her heart speed up in her chest. She really likes Chief, as a mentor and as a leader. He’s a strong, stern presence, but also a nurturing and warm one.

At his words, a small smile curls her lips, her eyes glittering brightly in the early morning light. She can’t help but be excited at the challenge ahead of her. “Yes sir.” She says, her voice holding confidence and excitement for what’s coming. “I’m ready whenever you are.” It’s times like this where she really feels alive.

Damn right - was all his mind voiced at her words. His inner wolf could hear the thriving heartbeat that drummed beneath her chest. That alone sent a good vibe down the alpha's core. She was born ready. "Thatta girl." His voice chimed, repeating the familiar words whenever she had a hard time during her training. He'd say those words when she succeeded the most difficult tasks in all of her time working with fellow rangers. It was almost like a secret inside joke they never agreed upon. A proud smile laced over his cheek.

Pulling out his clipboard, his brown orbs gazed over his writing on her file. Grabbing the pen that was clipped against the metal clip, Chief's thumb clicked over the pen to spring the bulb open. Starting with the first section, Chief cleared his throat. "Anna Vess, I hereby congratulate you from graduating the training course in the Forest Ranger, state of California. You are henceforth known as a Forest Ranger and will serve the station in...." drum rolls please, his voice seemed to chant, "the medical department with Doc."

Hopefully that will bring the smile in her eyes to sparkle as bright as the sun that rose behind them. He's always know she wanted to be a healer of the pack, when she discovered what the pack duties entailed. They've talked about it before, multiple times in the past. And he's promised her a good position, something to her liking. Something that would suit her in her service here but he hasn't promised her what the actual job would be until this very moment. He checked the first box at the top of the page. "You will be working with Doc, you should know him by now. He's the pack's certified doctor. You will be his assistant for the time being. We can't replace him quite yet, but if for whatever reason we do, you will be the first to earn your degree in that field. Do I make myself clear, Vess." Hopefully she can hear the smile in his voice whether he wore a bored/profiessional expression or not.

Keep it professional, Anna. This is professional time. This is not the time to squee like a crazy fangirl, jump up and down, whoop, yell, attempt to hug Chief, or any combination of the above.

It’s still pretty hard, as her entire face lights up at his announcement that she’s going to be working in the infirmary like she wanted. She wants to learn how to take care of people. After all, the scars on her leg are a constant reminder that unless someone had been there to help her, she Damn well could have died.

She looks up at him, trying not to grin like an idiot. “Yes sir, I understand. Thank you.” She says, forcibly keeping her energy contained. This is going to be one heck of a day though, since it’s this early in the morning, and she already feels so energized she could burst.

A grin would usually be seen in times like these whenever Chief knew his rangers would beam at any good news. However, this was not the case and Chief had to fight the grin. But it wrinkled just at the corner of his lips, a clear giveaway that he wanted to break the professionalism. It was her thank you that made his eyes gleam with promise. He had all the faith in her to perform her duties successfully. Giving her a firm nod, he continued down the list. Morning birds sang their songs in the distance, it would be the only noise as of now before the rest of the rangers would wake up the station, and visitors would approach the parking lot.

Chief grabbed the pen as his hands reached for the top of the clipboard. He rested the board on his belly with his arms stretched out. Now that the important subject has been taken care of, the more serious subject would commence and Chief already had her full attention. He cleared his throat. "Good." Now that she understood he would continue, "Now. Vess. Before we go over the details of what your duty entails on a daily basis, I wanted to talk to you about something first." His professional Chief voice seemingly toned down to a fatherly alpha voice, wearing concern on his face. His brown eyes never left hers.

"Ever since you joined the team, you knew there was something different about the rangers who were here. And in due time, you found out we are werewolves." He let out a long exhale, figuring out his words as he had them mapped out the previous night for this moment. "And you've kept that secret from the other humans in the pack. You understood clearly that the other humans in the pack have no clue we are werewolves, and that's how it should be. But we still consider them family." He continued, glancing down at his clipboard as if the inked words on the paper would grant him the words he needed to say. But it was just a check list. His eyes lifted back up to her. "You know that from this day forward, if you were to decide, you will become a werewolf." He added with a more sincere tone, "And there is no going back. This is the point of no return." There was no longer a grin he fought back, but he wasn't frowning either. "You fully understand that as a werewolf, your life will change completely. But..." he chose his words carefully, "you have a very big supportive family here. Your new pack will be there to guide you. I...will be here to guide you as always." He made sure to note, "Anna. Even as a human, we will still protect you. There's no neeeed to be a werewolf. But," he put his clipboard to the side. "If you want the bite, I can give you the bite now." He wanted Anna to understand the true danger of this choice, but also the beauty of it. He awaited her answer.

Anna knew this was coming. She knew that today she would have to decide between one of two paths, with no way to change her decision. She’s standing on the edge. She can choose to stay here in safety… or she can jump, to see if she’s able to fly.

She looks up at Chief, the man who’s walked her through all of this, who’s encouraged her, taught her, and given her the warmth and strength she needed to get to this point. She’s scared, she won’t deny that. She knows there’s a chance she won’t even survive, from some of the stories she’s heard. She’s made her decision, and she knows what she’s going to do. She closes her eyes for a moment, calming her pounding heart with a long, deep breath. Jump.

Anna smiles ever so slightly, opening her eyes to look back into his. “Please.” She says softly. “I want the bite.”

Please.

I want the bite...

Those words sent a chill down his wolf's core. Fangs slowly seeped from his gums, growing over his lips into a wolfish grin. Chief dropped the clipboard on the grass by the firepit. Grabbing her left arm by the wrist, Chief hoisted her arm upward. His free hand rolled up the sleeve of her uniform. Taking a few careful steady steps, his boots thudded against the dirt below him with confident yet heavy footsteps. Chief gazed down at her. "You will feel ....an excruciating amount of pain." his free hand pointed from her shoulder to her wrist, "Your entire arm will feel a stinging sensation once the bite begins." She's lucky. She's not like most bitten werewolves who's dealt with unknown and sudden pain.

"It could take hours before you start your first shift." He cleared his throat. "If you're wearing anything that means dearly to you, you might want to take that off before the shift shreds it." He let out a friendly huff, "The uniform itself is replaceable but you already know that."

With that, Chief glanced back to the arm he currently held by her wrist. Moving the sleeve a little more to expose her bicep better, Chief leaned in and sunk his fangs into her skin. He took a moment for his fangs to connect with her bloodstream from within her arm. Soon her blood would meet with his fangs. Chief's eyes closed for the time being, taking in the taste of her blood. Chief's eyes opened, red hues replacing the brown. That's when he sunk his teeth even further, but not too much to fracture bone marrow. He glanced at her to check if she was okay. It was almost like a dog bite, except she was fully aware of it. Soon he would release his fangs from the arm, and lower it. He took a few steps back as the alpha licked his lips. This wouldn't be the first time she saw his red eyes but perhaps it'd be the first time up close and purely meant for her alone.

With her free hand, she reaches up, removing a necklace from around her neck. From the chain dangles a small glass vial, full of ash. She sets it down gingerly, and waits for the pain of his bite. It doesn’t take long, and she grits her teeth hard to keep from screaming, still letting out a cry of pain.

The stinging sensation creeps in, and she squeezes her eyes shut, still trying to keep it quiet, in case anyone is still asleep. She wants to keep this between her and Chief, the way it should be. That’s the main reason she’s trying so hard not to make any noise. That and just generally wanting to stay strong in front of him.

She opens her eyes in time to meet his red ones, and even with how much pain she’s in, part of her is transfixed by them, and the way he’s looking back into her turquoise orbs. She manages a strained smile as he lets go, before another wave of pain hits, and she falls to her knees, whimpering softly.

As expected, the pain sifted through her body from her arm, it was clear from her reaction that the pain came in waves and started to spread. Chief watched her bright blue turquoise eyes, concern still hung in his red hues as the alpha stood in front of her. Anna seemed to remain quiet for various reasons, he could tell she succumbed to the strain on her arm from the bite itself. Chief knew one thing - rule of thumb: remain calm. From a new wolf's perspective, it would only make it more scary if they see their own alpha react with panic. A small amount of panic would be noticeable in his eyes, but he wore it with concern rather than anxiety. He didn't want to scare her on her first shift. Some people take a few hours, some people take a few moments. He wondered with Anna's ability to resist the strain if she might shift sooner than most.

Chief winced when she dropped to her knees and let out a yelp. "Breathe." He advised, much like he would during the training. It was like any other situation under stress. "Breathe Vess. In and out. Don't think about it." He knew that was almost impossible, but he advised her to avoid the pain as much as possible. Soon it would start to spread across her entire body, she may or may not feel the same stinging sensation across her torso. She seemed to be taking the bite well. Her own blood would ooze from her arm. He debated on offering her a hand to help her back up, but knowing her, he wouldn't want her to feel hopeless. Instead he watched her succeed and push through the pain of the bite. "You're doin' good."

She nods, her eyes narrowing as she forces a deep breath in, then out. She can feel it spreading to her chest, and bares her teeth, forcing another deep breath. You heard the Chief. He’s trusting you to be strong, and you’re sure as hell not going to let him down. She tells herself sternly, holding her arm to her chest, feeling her blood hot and sticky on the skin.

It’s moving up into her neck, and down along her spine. She wants to cry from the pain of it, but refuses, knowing he’s still watching. He’s right there. He says she’s doing well, and she wouldn’t be here right now if she couldn’t trust Chief with her life. She closes her eyes, letting it continue to spread, trying her best to relax.

It takes her a moment to take notice of the changes over the pain. It isn’t until the wound itself starts to close that she opens her eyes, seeing dark, thick fur growing along her forearm, her nails forming claws. But something is pulling at her consciousness, making it hard to focus.

As the changes continue, her jaw lengthening, teeth multiplying and growing, Anna herself feels almost like she’s passing out, as her wolf, newly born into this world, takes over her new body. The creature shakes herself, growling in pain, her ears pinned back as the last parts of the shift move into place.

The golden wolf is in pain now, and a bit confused. She looks around, her vibrant green eyes taking in everything around her, before settling on Chief’s red ones. She calms at that, immediately recognizing that this one is her alpha. She is safe here. She lowers her head respectfully, her ears tilting back in a show of submission.

A nod confirmed that she's still fully aware of her current senses. Which is a good thing. Chief watched her ever so carefully, taking in the most important moment of her life. It was only moments later, as the pain started spreading, that her wolf started making its presence. Fur trickling over her skin, ears pointing above her head. The sight of her golden wolf submitting made him give out a relieved sigh. There were a few things he noticed, and a few things that made him question the wolf in front of him. His red hues gazed at the golden wolf. Since they didn't rip, she still wore two earrings per ear as they dangled with the fur. His eyes watched as she submissively pinned her ears back to her cranium. Chief offered a smile to the newly born wolf. He knew this moment is normally scary for new wolves. Especially for the owner of the wolf.

To some, the human may or may not be completely in control of the wolf's body. They could be on standby in the void, watching from the wolf's mind. He wondered if Anna's new wolf shared the body with her, or if she had just as much control as the wolf from the void. "Anna?" Did the wolf in front of him know of her name? Did the wolf in front of him have a completely different personality? Did the wolf notice anything different like heightened hearing, feeling, smell? The wolf may be able to smell a different kind of odor on him other than authority. Chief could almost tell that Vess confirmed he's the alpha, it probably helps that she already knew that.

Slowly taking a knee, Chief knelt down and took his ranger hat off, letting it rest on the grass upside down. His eyes never left hers. His left elbow rested on his left kneecap, his hand dangling over the grass. His right hand reached out slowly, cautiously, as to not startle the wolf with any sudden moves. She's a new wolf, new to this world. And he was welcoming her by getting to her eye level, to show that they are equal. Red eyes met with the blue green in front of him and a smile finally appeared on his lips. His hand, palm facing up, approached her muzzle for her to sniff. Much like when people approach dogs so they can pet them.

The wolf flicks an ear as he speaks her name, recognizing it as her own, or at least, the name of this scared human in her head. Anna herself is terrified, trapped in the void, only able to watch right now. With some time she’ll probably learn to share the body, but right now she’s far too disoriented and frightened, leaving her wolf in total control.

The wolf watches him carefully, leaning forward to sniff his hand, before pressing her cheek into his palm. While she and Anna are seperate, this wolf understands much of what Anna knows, as shown by her recognizing him so easily. She also understands that he will protect her, and that he is kind.

Protective and kind indeed, the alpha smiled at the act. Golden fur brushed over his palm, which could only tell him that this wolf is fearless, much like its human. That was good. This wolf took the initiative to feel physical contact. The fact that the wolf accepted physical contact confirmed that she does indeed know her name. Or at least responded to it. The alpha watched as she sniffed him, and Chief's fingers bent as he slithered his fingers through her fur. His big hand stroked her fur towards her left ear (his right). Fingers grasped surrounding it gently before giving it a few scratches. The alpha's red hues gazed at her, making sure this was still okay. Little did the young wolfess know, Chief had scent-marked her. A true sign of acceptance.

He knew most wolves, when they're born or new to the world, acknowledged their own language. Some spoke with just body language, much like this while others comprehend spoken words. Chief's hand trailed up to her head, scratching it there as well before the alpha spoke up. Soon he would need to accept her into his pack. He forgot to mention that this only means she is a new wolf. But this doesn't mean she's fully accepted into the pack quite yet. And everyone in the pack had to go throught the same thing, so she is not alone in the process. "Hey." He moved his hand back down to his lap, knowing he had her full attention. "Welcome to the world." He chuckled lightly. "I know this will be very new to you." He cleared his throat, "So we're going to take this one step at a time okay? You know how the pack and I communicate with the pack bond?" He nodded a few times, "Yeah. Well. I need to give you that pack bond. So you can talk to me. So if you're saying anything in your little head right now trying to talk to me, I can't hear a dang thing." He snorted.

The young wolf looks up at him, ears up straight and facing forward, to show that she is paying attention to his every word. She gives a rather silly looking smile at him, loving the scratches around her ears. She’s happy that he already likes her enough to scent mark her. He really must care about her and Anna a lot.

Anna is starting to calm down a little bit, recognizing his voice. She’s able to see what’s happening from her place in the void, but not much else. It’s a strange, disembodied feeling, that she still doesn’t like, but it’s not as terrifying. She listens to what Chief says, and feels hopeful, wondering if that means she’ll be able to talk to him from here.

The wolf flicks an ear, and slowly nods, showing she understands his words.

Perhaps in the near future Chief would understand if Anna was thrown into the void, or if she was was able to control most of her wolf. For now, it's safe to assume that Anna is currently watching with or without control. But just in case her wolf had been in full control of her every move and behavior, Chief assumed that this wolf in front of him confirmed everything he was saying. It was helpful to watch the body language. Chief lifted himself up on his feet with a grunt and started unbluckling himself. The gun belt that housed his gun, tazer, and radio now unattached from his belt loops and plopped onto the ground with a soft thunk. It was a sign that he was shifting to his natural wolf form but he didn't want to shred his belt or his badge. With both hands he unclipped his badge from his shirt and placed his ranger hat on top of his belt with the clipboard next to his belongings.

With a calculated sigh, the alpha's eyes closed. Soon the wolfess would hear the bones cracking from the man in front of her as pure black fur started covering over his arms. Claws slipped from out of his fingertips, knuckles popping into thicker fingers. His face started pushing outward into a formed muzzle. His pants tightened around his thick thighs before it shredded to the grass along with his shirt as bigger muscles formed into a standing werewolf. His feet seemed to stretch and stand taller than normal. The bottoms of his padded toes seemed to extend into an extra foot that flattened against the ground, causing his heels to lift upward. He stood an extra foot taller than his human form with longer fur-covered arms. The lycan's ears pointed upward and the male bent his knees. His elbows positioned over his thighs as his massive paw-like hands hovered over the ground. Hopefully the wolfess in front of him still wasn't scared of him. This would be the first time she would see his lycan form, unless Anna has seen his wolf form before then this might not be as intimidating for her.

As lycans, they can talk with their actual muzzles/mouths, but as wolves they lack that ability. This is why Chief wanted to be in this form before he would fully shift into his wolf form and begin the initiation. He cleared his throat as he gazed at her. He still towered over her with his knees bent but his red eyes held a calmness in them to assure that she has nothing to be afraid of. "Vess. The only way you can receive the pack bond is through your first hunt. I know your ability to learn fast is incredible but even if you can't hunt, you will still be accepted into the pack. I don't normally shift into my lycan form, but this is the only way we can verbally communicate. I just wanted to tell you that after I shift to my normal wolf, we'll start a hunt. With just you and me. Preferably a deer, doesn't have to be a buck or a doe but a doe is easier okay?" He raised his brows at her expectantly. It would only be until he got confirmation from the female before he would begin guiding her to seek out a doe.

The Wolf seems slightly nervous seeing him grow like that, but once he’s settled, she calms down a bit. Anna is still very confused, floating in the void, and trying to push her Wolf out of the way, which annoys the creature slightly. It also doesn’t work. Anna is just so unfamiliar with this body that even if her will were stronger, she probably wouldn’t be able to move around properly.

At the mention of a hunt, the Wolf immediately perks up, barking in excitement. She almost starts off immediately, before stopping, and waiting for her Alpha to lead. This side of Anna is impulsive like she is, and lacks some of the human’s restrictions in how she behaves, but she’s still well aware of her role here. She doesn’t get to start hunts, and she doesn’t get to lead the way. She waits patiently for Chief, looking up into his red eyes.

By instinct the massive lycan jolted forward in attempt to stop her. He reached out his big paws toward her to grab but she was too fast and impulsive. Thankgoodness she stopped and obeyed her instincts to be cautious of her position. Not that he would have minded going after her, but Chief relaxed the moment the wolf stopped and looked at him. Unlike the typical smile that stretched out his mustache, a toothy fang-like grin spread across his face. Letting out a snort, Chief cackled and swung his head back. That was adorable! It was almost as if the ranger he had grown close to, is showing her true colors in her furry form. The sudden drive to do something right away definitely suited her well, and it brought a smile to his face. Yup! That's Annie alright.

Finally the Chief crawled on all fours, and his lycan form sunk lower to his knees. A wolf now took the lycan's place. Which meant that Chief could no longer communicate with her - only through body language. The alpha's eager eyes glanced to her once before his paws took off with such speed that his fur nearly brushed against hers like the wind. And off the alpha went, hopefully Annie would notice that he led her towards the forest where they normally went hunting as a team. But instead of the trail they took to take tours for people, he launched off the trail and into the thickets. Chief made sure to keep the sound of the shewolf's paws close to him so he knew she was following him without looking over his shoulder.

The Wolf darts after him immediately, though she has to work a bit to keep up, being inexperienced, with a somewhat shorter stride. Still, she’s certainly not going to be left behind, so she does her best, getting a few small burrs caught in her golden fur as she runs through the brush after her alpha.

Anna is surprised with the feeling that floods through her, even in her place in the void. The thrill of the hunt is something she never thought could feel so invigorating, and her fear melts away as she laughs, and her Wolf resists the urge to howl in approval. She’s glad her human counterpart isn’t acting like a frightened pup anymore. Now they can have some fun!

Oh, dearest Annie. The fun hasn't even begun. Chief sensed the eagerness stirring from the wolf behind him as she attempted to catch up to him. As tradition, Chief wanted to spend the time with his new potential pack member. Hence, this hunt would suffice. Soon the black wolf would slow down to a trot, weaving through the trees as he dodged them. Slowing down to a complete stop eventually, his head whirled around to face the golden shewolf behind him. The same grin Annie should be familiar of spread across the wolf's muzzle. While the alpha could be stern yet fatherly in his human form, he was definitely playful and loving in his wolf form. That doesn't mean he isn't in his human form but it definitely shows.

Eventually Annie would meet at his side. And when she does, Chief lowers his head to bump his forehead against hers to greet her. As if they hugged in human form, but this is the best way for the alpha to show affection towards the new wolf, new to the world. She did great in running! He noticed how well she tried to keep up, but that didn't surprise him. However it did tell him that she was capable to run in a hunt. Hopefully. If not, she would still be accepted in his pack. Chief waited for her to get comfortable next to him as he sat down on his back paws. The males ears pointed upward alertingly, eyes focus at their surroundings. His tail wrapped around himself as it swayed in slow moving motions much like a lazy cat. If she couldn't tell, Chief currently listened to the nature around him. It was up to her to join him and feel the beauty that engulfed them. This is what all wolves should do, and how they should all be taught. He strongly believed that. Appreciate the world around you, and learn your surroundings.

Chief closed his eyes, letting the pads of his front paws shift comfortably against the ground beneath them. The wolf waited patiently, breathing calmly - inhale.....exhale....inhale....exhale. The wind caught in his fur as the alpha waited for the wind to grant him the scents of a doe or buck.

She’s panting, but happily presses her large head to his, tail thumping on the ground. She’s very affectionate, especially towards him, and it’s making Anna slightly uncomfortable. She loves Chief as a mentor and friend, but they’ve always sort of been professional about it. This feeling of closeness to him is entirely new.

The Wolf withdraws as he does, and follows his example, closing her eyes to listen to the world around them. It’s nice, having it be just them. It’s not that she doesn’t want to meet the pack, she does, but Chief is the one that brought her into the world, and he’s her alpha. She wants time to bond with just him.

Purely from the show of affection, and the fact that she accepted the physical contact only made Chief's wolf purr. Not everyone is the same, in fact everyone behaves different in his pack. It's nice to see that wolves alike can give and accept this form of communication. As he closes his eyes, he senses her movements, hearing her paws shifting on the ground next to him. And the lightness of her tail thudding against the ground. He had no clue whether or not her eyes were closed but he could only assume they are. Which would be good for her. Completely unaware of Annie's uncomfortableness, Chief let out a sigh to show how content he is.

Ah.

There it is. Soon a certain scent of deer had drifted in their path. Chief caught a whiff of it, causing his eyes to open. They've only been sitting for a few seconds, he wanted to enjoy the company with her, he wanted her to learn what it's like to rest with mother nature. At ease. He's already shown this with Annie and the other rangers as humans, during the course of their training, but it was nice to show every wolf. He decided it would be wise to seal the pack bond before the hunt began. Rather than after. Normally the pack bond is sealed after the hunt. But he wanted to be sure that Annie was secure in his safety if she's in the void. The moment he has the chance to talk to her, he won't know if he's talking to the wolf or Annie herself until her voice responds.

Closing his eyes again, Chief focussed on the growing bond between them. With his ultimate powers, Chief sealed the connection in their minds and linked his voice to her mind. Eyes still closed, Annie would hear his voice:

Pack Bond
Annie. Do not be alarmed. This is my voice. If you can hear me then respond with yours.

As soon as he starts talking, the Wolf’s tail starts waving happily, and she taps her front paws excitedly, grinning at him. Feeling out the connection, she tries it out, her voice coming out as a friendly, very excited one, much like Anna, if she were less focused on acting normal or professional. This one just doesn’t care.

Pack Bond
Alpha! Hello! Is Annie my name? I know the other one is Anna, so then does that make me Annie! Oh, it’s so good to be able to talk to you! I can smell something! Is that a deer? Is it almost time to hunt?

Anna is groaning internally, but she isn’t sure if Chief can hear her. Chief? Hello? I’m… also here… not sure where here is, actually. I can see what she does if I focus, but it’s really disorienting… I really hope you can hear me… She thinks, still cringing at how her Wolf sounds. She acts like the Anna that used to get bullied the hell out of for acting weird and annoying all the time.

It was ironic that the first word that slipped from the female's voice just happens to be his wolf's actual name. A lot of members in the pack started it out as a joke, but it stuck. Alpha is the wolf's name. So the female's chipper voice not only surprised him but warmed his heart as the wolfish grin appeared on his muzzle. Alpha opened his eyes and turned his head to watch her with the grin visible on his face. He let out a snort, she had Anna's voice, but a different colorful tone to it. Ahh, so this is what Annie's true personality could be? He wondered if Anna tried to hide it from the station. Or maybe this is a completely different side to her. Regardless, it was very clear that Anna herself is not the wolf in front of him.

So he had to take this carefully one step at a time like a newborn child was brought to the world. He'd have to make sure to protect her from the rangers bullying her, he mentally noted that instantly. Maybe the shewolf is aware of her human's past? Would he have to re-introduce her to everyone? He wouldn't mind if needed. Alpha smiled warmly and he lowered his head towards her. He dipped his nose against her forehead and pressed against it lovingly. Fatherly. As if to say I will protect you and teach you with everything I have. He still wore his calm yet professional tone in his voice as he responded to the young wolf. Her excitement was ever so adorable.

Pack Bond
Hello little one. -chuckle-. If you would like that to be your name it can be. I often call your human Annie by habit. Since it's close to Anna. Or Vess because of her last name and it's professional. My human's name is Chief. And yes! I'm impressed you can smell that. Would you like to try to hunt? We can see how fast you are.

He pulled his nose away and gazed at the golden wolf in front of him. He could hear the voice from the void but he wanted to focus on the situation at hand. He would acknowledge Anna in a moment. But for now, he didn't want to distract the two of them.
