All my current players that are in this game that want to join in the 3e Lunar fun are welcome.

While certainly putting the cart before the horse, I got into character creation mode. And cant help but ask as I was looking through the book.

I see a lot of half animals. Can beastmen become lunars or is it normal for a lunar to keep a half shape?

Yes to both. A human that becomes a Lunar has a pair of Totem shapes; his base human one, and the animal one that is his spirit animal. The Shapeshifting Knack (in 2e at least) called Deadly Beastman Transformation gives the Lunar a third base animal form, one that is a hybrid between human and animal, like a werewolf.

I do love me some hybrid forms. Heading to that section next.

What is the chimera thing I have heard reference to? Of a lunar shapeshifting too much before being tattooed.

That is a Lunar that has not had its Caste assigned to itself by its moonsilver tattoos that has lost itself to the Wyld. The further along its path to Chimerism it gets, the more the madness of the Wyld consumes it, and it literally loses its mind.

True. It is as bad of a thing that can happen to a Lunar as you can get.

Scary! Would something like that be a viable concept? A young casteless, on it's own that after coming close to chimeraism desperately seeks out the Lunars to help.

It can, depending on the story. There are rules for making up a Casteless in the Lunar book.

It can also happen to play it from the other direction, where you are established Lunars looking for Casteless to save them from Chimerism.

Chimerism is the result of a Lunar is losing the ability to control their shape because of chaos energy. The tragic part is that it twists all three elements of their being, body, mind, and spirit. Thus, some lunars lost control of their shape, their minds, and even down to their caste. This is why the Tatoos were crafted. They provide a stable structure and ward against further erosion of spiritual integrity.

The irony is, that the Wyld Hunt drove the Lunars, in many cases, to truly become the very monsters the Immaculates claim they are.

Well, just a potential spoiler for you. In the Lunar Fury game, you have already been rounded up by the Silver Pact and have been in intensive training since your Exaltations in a hidden valley owned by a Lunar Elder, so no Casteless in that game.

I don't know about Sherwood, but I have the compiled manuscript with all the 3E charms and such from the KS.

Could use it as backstory then!

Given timing with Red Shadow Claws Red Shadow Claws game, perhaps it'd be best to let that get off the ground first and gain momentum. I wouldn't want to drop a current game as a consequence of too much activity too quickly. Same with any of the other ongoing games.
And it would give me a chance to read over the manuscript for the Lunars.
