That doesn't really bother me personally, even if I take the hyperbole at face value. I've learned enough about the art of persuasion to tell you that natural methods are just as exploitive if not more in some cases.

Personally, I would rather not debate this matter any further.

Edit: As for the showing our hand dilemma... Gwynnin is both our home AND our shield. If we project our absence to the enemy, why would he not take advantage of a divide and conquer? The victory of the Bull is not so long past that they would forget the foolishness of assaulting Solars on home turf. They would pay for every inch with a sea of blood and they know it, so long as we are there to fight. Were we absent, our forces appear soft and ripe for raiding. We have two Terrestrials, they have [Lots]. Thus we shall ensure the threat of Solar might stays on the war maps.

As a human being behind a keyboard, I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I don't see either of the options presented IC as being better or worse than the other. I've just written Annika as assuming that - based on what Aysik has said - a Realm army large enough to conquer Gwynnin coming from either the Blessed Isle or Greyfalls would be slowed down by various problems besides its size and logistics, whereas our characters - a party of less than a dozen people - would be a lot faster and more mobile. So either the Realm sends in a large force which might not make it to Gwynnin before the Solars get back home, or they send in a quicker, more agile force that wouldn't be up to the task of taking Gwynnin, and would therefore try and go after us. That's my character's opinion, not my own. No disrespect intended.

LowRollLyfe LowRollLyfe I realize this sounds like splitting hairs, but I feel like I need to clarify. Hypnotic Tongue Technique is mind control as it is an actual compulsion. Memory Reweaving Discipline (which is what is actually being used) changes beliefs and memories with a mental illusion it does not force action or choice.

jaydude jaydude Fair enough man. I'll stop here.

A quick progress check: Red Shadow Claws Red Shadow Claws and Kalin Scarlet Kalin Scarlet How are your characters coming along? Almost ready to join in the IC posting?
Besides actually marking down the backstory, and stuff like the languages(dunno which are useful in this setting) and intimacies (I read those can be added throughout actual gameplay?) I'm good to go. Unless there's some error on the sheet that needs fixing?

Sherwood Sherwood , what kind of roll would I have to do to have Annika and her thieves secretly look for enemy spies within Gwynnin?

Edit: I'm guessing it would be Intelligence + Investigation, but I'd like to run it by you before I roll.

jaydude jaydude it's not nice calling a Lunar an enemy spy... and besides, your chances will be nill unless Seven-Winged Sirocco would want you to... :-)

Oh, I already know that Seven-Winged Sirocco's on her way to Gwynnin from Aysik, assuming she didn't get there ahead of everyone else ;). And I'm referring to the Realm, the Wyld Hunt and other associates of Mellar when I use the term "enemy spies". A random Luna won't fall under that criteria.

Assuming new Exalts for the circle will be introduced, I'm sure they can make this meeting given how late in the day it will be. The goal is to release the knowledge of the insanity risk to the circle so that we can decide how to deal with that information.

Only proposal I can conjure up that would sound reasonable from the character is consultation with spirits for a lead on where to start. Burning prayers three times a day to the sun, consulting Sidereals to locate relevant experts, etc.

I can roll with that. OOC, I wouldn't know how to go about mitigating the dangers of the Great Curse, aside from our characters not getting into situations likely to increase limit (unlikely). Annika knows about the Great Curse, but I don't think she can offer anything other than try to keep a level head, and stay reasonably down-to-earth.

We dont know that it's a curse. We dont know the cause. We dont have any information on the trigger. We also wouldn't even know when we fall prey to its influence. Just that a Sidereal claims it to be unavoidable contrary to his peer and shows no evidence of having done any investigation or analysis into the situation, just a flawed divination attempt.

If that assessment of our IC knowledge is sound, the only thing that sounds like a reasonable course to me is to dig for more data as we progress.

Ah, okay.

Edit: Yes, I have no problem with that assessment of our IC knowledge. So far I've written Annika as knowing/believing that Solars ruled Creation during the First Age, but then they lost their way and became corrupt/insane, which prompted the Sidereals - who foresaw that Creation would become completely lost if nothing was done - to decide to go with the Usurpation over trying to talk sense into the Solars, after which Creation went to shit, courtesy of the Great Contagion and the Fair Folk, and now the disappearance of the Scarlet Empress. I don't believe I've ever mentioned anything about the Great Curse IC-wise.

Sounds good to me for that roll. Go ahead and give me a total of three rolls.

Rykon Rykon Quick question: While I'm totally fine with Viktor going to the meeting that Aredin hopes will assuage trepidations by showing the successes of rehabilitating the Terrestrials, why is he having the rest of the circle attend? I don't understand why he believes everyone else has doubts about it as well, when Viktor was the only one to voice any questions concerning the process.

Because as far as he is aware, only he and Darian know why the Bronze Faction is trying to have them killed. He wants to make sure Annika, Viktor, and Durke know anyone in the circle might go insane.

That is the only reason anyone was asked to attend, not the doubts. This truth will be explained in the meeting, and having everyone together saves time and frustration.

Cool beans!

Also, I'm looking forward to meeting our new players when the Gold-faction Exalts arrive, and then moving our butts into the horrible forests standing between us and Rathess! :)

Edit: Another question just occurred to me, Rykon Rykon in the near future (perhaps after our Rathess expedition) would you be interested in having Viktor turn the King's Tower into a manse? Or would you rather wait and discuss/decide that after our return from Rathess, when we've got a better handle on our timetable for moving HQ eastward?

I've been proceeding under the assumption that Rathess was going to be the new center of power. That said, if we can get the labor, reinforcing Gwynnin with manses probably needs to happen soon.

Assuming a semi-meta-canon version of Rathess, we have the three pyramids to cleanup in addition to other structures.

I actually know relatively little about Rathess (or the east outside the Scavenger Lands for that matter). I was lucky enough to pick up a 1st Edition book on it at a local comic shop a couple years ago though, and never had the time to flip through it. You mentioning the pyramids got me thinking, it might be time to actually dust it off and dive in!

Sherwood Sherwood
I'd like to have Annika's thieves discretely search for information about the spies they've found. Would that be another three Intelligence + Investigation rolls?

Given the course of this effort. I'm satisfied with how it's turned out thus far with Hax. Hopefully a similar pitch can sway the others without too much more obfuscation of zeal, enough to hear the argument anyhow.

Edit: The idea of cross-examining spies is rather exciting too. Dorking out a little too much with the whole head of state role.
