LowRollLyfe LowRollLyfe , my character (Annika) used a Gemstone of Surface thoughts to read Durke's mind in post #384, and rolled six successes. Do you think you could please edit post #385 to include Durke's surface thoughts during that moment in time?

Alternatively, if you don't want Annika to be able to read Durke's mind, you can have Durke recognise her hearthstone from somewhere else, and roll Wits + Integrity to signify him attempting to resist her efforts. You can then limit the amount of info Annika gets from Durke depending on his number of successes compared to hers. If he gets one less success that her, you can have Annika only hear a single word of Durke's thoughts, and if he gets six successes - as much as she did - she won't be able to hear anything from his mind.

Yeah I kinda jumped ahead accidentally cause I got mixed up as to where we were >.< that introduction and question would happen about now.

Sherwood Sherwood Would you be alright with me using some of my last crafting rolls towards the creation of a minor artifact (an enchanted hammer) to help with my crafting?

My idea is to spend roll(s) reading through Shogunate texts recovered from our Solar tomb's library concerning crafting theories/methods and finding info that alludes to minor artifacts used as tools for the later creation of greater artifacts. I'll make an (Intelligence + Investigation) roll to see if I can find and piece together the requisite texts to understand how the tools were constructed and used, and if I surpass the (Storyteller decided) difficulty, than the hammer can be started.

It would be created via separate crafting roll(s), aimed at the creation of a 1-dot artifact. This minorly enchanted hammer would be crafted with repeated layering of the Rituals of Fire Radiance and Earth Benedictions upon the materials as they are smelted together, as well as a small sacrifice of Jade offered to the god of blacksmithing (don't know who, but I assume there is one somewhere in the Celestial/Terrestrial heirarchy).

When completed, the hammer would have the Radiance benefit of the Benediction of Fire (+2L fire damage) and the Earth benefit (eternally tough, never wears down). This would allow it to provide a +1 die to all Craft(Fire) rolls through it's ability to provide additional heat while the target item is sitting on the anvil, and a +1 die to Craft(Earth) rolls by virtue of it's increased durability and resilience.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Likewise, I'm currently waiting for the conversation between Aredin, Darian and the Sidereals to end before Annika responds to Darian.

Footnote for jaydude jaydude , if Annika is still reading thoughts, those questions amount to "How are they locating us? What started their crusade against solars? How can we prevent a repetition of the past revolts?"

This would probably inevitably lead to the chastisement of "You mean to tell me the foremost experts on astrological divination, who should know better than to trust cranking both variables of unreliability to the maximum, that being distance forward and amount of essence of the subject, decided to throw age-old wisdom out the door, make a reading with the highest possible margin of error imaginable and then take three slivers of the most incorrect answers possible to determine how to decide the entire future of the world... without consulting anyone else... I'm surprised you guys don't have someone sponsoring Mask of Winters himself with that level of villainous narcissism." In before plot threads of Green Lady come to the surface.

If I recall correctly, you can only have one Elemental Benediction on a object at any one time. Unless there is an exception in the way you Craft it that gives the same effect as one or more of the bonuses, then that could work. Other than that, I don't mind you making up some object to help you with your work.

Oh don't worry, she isn't. She knows that Aredin and Darian seem to consider her a friend now, and she feels that she can just straight up ask them things instead of trying to pry into their thoughts. In general, I plan to have her only use her Gemstone of Surface thoughts when she needs information as part of her work, and she has reason to believe that the other party might not be 100% honest. She knows how invasive it can feel to have someone read your mind.

Additionally, she might also use it if she has reason to be concerned about what the other person thinks of her, such as when she first met with Aredin and Darian to try and join up with them. But I would imagine that by this point she would have told her fellow Solars about that specific hearthstone, and subsequently stopped trying to use it on them.

I didn't remember the rule concerning the single benediction per item, but that certainly makes sense. In that case, I will limit it to the fire benediction, as it makes the most RP sense for imbuing into a crafting hammer. Thanks!

No problem. I look forward to seeing what kind of stuff you come up with in the future.

So I was just wondering how Annika and her thieves should go about supporting our dominion at this point in time, since I want them to be able to earn their keep in Gwynnin. Any ideas?

After some thought, here are some options.

1. Watch duty on the walls.
2. Laborers guild or picking up a trade at a trade guild.
3. Police work.
4. Hunting/fishing.

Preventing insurgency (human trafficking by The Guild is a big reason why they aren't allowed inside our borders in an official capacity) and detective work.

Edit: ah, one more thing I forgot. Those trained as Forgers would make decent scribes by default.

I definitely agree that Policing or Wall Duty would be of extreme use, especially if we're leaving for a brief journey to Rathess. Viktor already worries about their ability to repel attacks from the city, and that will only be exacerbated once most of the Celestials in the city have vacated it for the trip.

Let me know when your dinner party is over so I can move the story forward.

I think I have enough for the character to know what he should prepare for.

Psychie Psychie , are there other questions or topics you want to address in the current scene?
