Fantasy Trapped.

She glance at her hands, now pulsing and red, then at the door then back at her hands. "They're fine. I'm fine." She grasped the cold, metal door handle with her hands (which felt extremely nice) and swung open the door. "Thank you, though. I think I just need some time to myself." She brushed passed him and walked up the stairs to what she suspected was the empty room. She saw Blair and Dex inside. Blair was sitting and Dex was walking out. "Oh! Sorry to interrupt!" She said as she turned around to walk back down the stairs.

Blair quickly stood as Caroline walked up the staircase. "No, no, it's fine! You're not interrupting, we're just up here being antisocial and such," she hurriedly explained, not wanting the girl to feel badly. Her eyes flicked from Caroline's face to her hands, which she could see were a bright red color. "Oh my god, what happened?" She asked, feeling a rush of concern for her. Though they hadn't spoken in a while, Caroline had been the first person Blair had seen, talked to, when she woke up in this place, and Blair felt sort of close to her despite their lack of conversation.

She turned back around. "Oh..." She looked back at her hands. "Um... they got burned." She walked over and sat beside Blair. "I think I might've discovered my power, but I can't be sure yet."

"What is it?" Blair asked, feeling excited for her friend, but still concerned about her hands. She made a mental note to find something to soothe the burning after they spoke. It was obvious to her that it was bothering Caroline more than she let on.

She winced at the pulsing of the pain in her hands, but tried not to let it show. "Well, i've caused some things to light on fire with my eyes, but I don't know if it was me, or a... two time thing..."

Blair smiled and let out a small laugh. "As far as I'm aware, spontaneous combustion is a pretty rare occurrence, especially if it's happened in front of a single person more than once. On top of that, I don't believe in coincidence, so I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you are correct and that is your power. And, in my opinion, being able to shoot flames out of your eyes is, like, hella rad." With another glance at her hands, Blair grabbed the water bottle she'd stuffed into the waistband of her sweatpants and gestured for Caroline to scoot towards her.

"Let's fix those hands of yours," she offered, ripping off another section of her shirt. By the time I'm done, I'll barely have any shirt left, she thought jokingly. Perhaps, later, I can make this drab outfit a bit more fashionable, she decided. Besides, she needed something to waste her time doing.

Caroline listened closely. She was right, it probably was rare, and quite the coincidence, if one. She laughed and smiled when Blair commented on her power being hella rad. "You're probably right. I guess it is pretty awesome." She smiled and scooted closer to her. She cupped her hands and lifted them up. Small blisters were now visible. Caroline winced.

Blair poured some water onto the strips of white fabric, just enough to make them damp. The water was slightly cooler than room temperature, so it should soothe her hands, at least a bit. She silently wished she had some aloe or burn cream, but this was the only thing available at the present time. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than nothing.

Blair tipped the bottle over Caroline's hands, letting a small amount of water run over the burns, and then she slowly wrapped the clothes around her palms, tying them in knots so they wouldn't come undone or rub against the blisters. She could see Caroline wince and bit her lip, furrowing her brow slightly; she hated the fact that she was causing the girl pain, but it would help in the long run.

As Blair poured the water Caroline's hands tensed, but the strips of fabric around her hands, although they stung, felt nice to have. "Thank you. It means a lot that you'd help." She smiled.

"Of course, it's nothing. I just hate seeing people in pain," she responded, brushing off the thanks. For the first time since she'd met Caroline, Blair took in her appearance. Before, she'd been too preoccupied and confused to really look at her, but now that she did, she noticed how beautiful she was. She was thin, and had long, golden hair. Her face was small, her lips full and her nose just the right size. Caroline had one of the prettiest smiles Blair had ever seen. She felt a bit envious of her good looks, but the feeling was quickly replaced with something else that Blair couldn't really detect.

She wanted to start a conversation with her, but couldn't figure out what to say. No interesting subjects came to mind, and so she just sat there in silence.

Dexter quietly slipped away to go down the stairs. He was genuinely concerned about Caroline's health, but he wasn't going to let seeing more wounds set him off. Quietly descending the spiral staircase, he made his way to the cafeteria and pulled out a banana from a chubby labeled "FRUITS". He unpeeled it and sat quietly at a table.

She smiled. They sat in silence for a few moments before Caroline decided to speak up. "So... how are you feeling? I mean, this whole thing is kinda nuts..."

Blair let out a relieved breath when Caroline spoke. Thank god someone knows how to talk.

"I...I'm not sure. I mean, I suppose I feel apprehensive because none of us know where the hell we are, and scared because I don't know what's going to happen next. I feel confused about our powers, excited, also because of our powers, and curious as to why we've all been placed here. My emotions are so conflicted; I'm happy about meeting some of the people here, such as you and Dexter, and I'm also angry, and depressed." She stopped herself, realizing she'd started rambling. "Sorry, I get carried away sometimes," she explained, letting out an embarrassed laugh.

Caroline laughed. "Its no big deal, I feel like I need to ramble too. I... don't even know how I feel. I spent a good time in my room, and running around in the gym-" She crossed her legs and turned to face Blair. "Can you keep a secret?" She said with a sly smile.

Blair narrowed her eyes as a mischievous grin grew on her face. "I happen to be a professional secret-keeper." She mimicked Caroline, crossing her legs and resting her elbows on her knees, her head on her hands as she searched Caroline's eyes for any indication of what this secret may be.

Caroline giggled a little as Blair turned to face her. "You know Hiro? He said he likes me." She wasn't smiling now, but she wasn't frowning either. If wasn't clear by looking at her face what her thoughts were on it, but in all honesty, she didn't know how she felt about it. She thought Hiro was very nice and kind, but she wasn't sure how she felt about him in that way.

Blair smiled at Caroline's giggle, but it was wiped off her face when she told her secret. "O-oh," she said, frowning at the sinking feeling in her stomach. "And do you like him back?" She asked. For some reason, a voice in the back of her mind was silently wishing for Caroline's answer to be no. But that didn't make sense, Blair should feel happy for her friend. There was no reason for her not to. You're just jealous that she has someone who likes her, she concluded. That must be what it is. Envy, nothing more.

She shrugged. "I don't know. He is a nice guy, but I don't think I see anything happening between us. So..." She avoided making eye contact. "I guess not. I just feel bad, ya know? He is really kind, and helped me with my burn... or at least tried to, but I feel bad letting him down." She played with her hands nervously.

Blair was silent for a moment, thinking her next words over carefully. She didn't want her emotions to get involved in her giving advice to Caroline, but she wanted to let her know how she felt about the matter. "I absolutely understand why you feel bad, but you don't need to. If you don't feel anything for him, you shouldn't say you do. I know you don't want to let him down, but what would be worse for him - getting turned down or being tricked into thinking you have feelings for him, too? Even if you know it'll cause him to feel sad, you need to be honest or you'll hurt him a lot more in the future."

Caroline nodded. "You're right. Wow, thanks. You're really good at advice." She smiled. "I'll have to come to you for advice next time." She turned back and faced the staircase. "I don't even know what this creep wants from us. We're stuck here with limited food and limited space. What if we run out of food? Is this sick bastard just going to watch us all starve to death? Is he going to risk his life showing up here to restock the food? Is he gonna make us live here and go crazy? Are we going to have to grow old and repopulate this place? What does he want?? Money? Sex?? I'm sure someone has money here. I'm sure someone would be willing to have sex with someone so we'd all be free. I don't get it. It doesn't make sense." She looked at Blair. "Sorry, I get talkative when I get nervous."

Blair laughed. "You can come to be any time for advice. I'm happy to help whenever I can."

She watched at Caroline paced back and forth, her words sounding more and more desperate as she continued speaking. Blair worried that she would get so upset she would have a panic attack, and she wasn't sure she'd be able to help another person through that, not so soon after Dexter. She still felt drained and tired from that.

"Don't apologize, you need someone to rant to. If you don't, all your emotions will just build up inside and you'll, well, explode, or something to that effect." She gave a half-smile at her ironic use of the word explode, as Caroline could, quite literally, set fire to things with her mind.

"I wish I had all the answers to your questions, but I'm just as in the dark as you are. And the more I try to figure out, the less I seem to know. It's so bloody frustrating!" She exclaimed.

Caroline smiled at her. "Thank you. Its nice to have someone I can trust around here." She put emphasis on the word 'trust' because she believed she did trust Blair. "I guess its good to rant sometimes. Especially when you've been kidnapped by a psychopath." She laughed.

It meant a lot to Blair that Caroline thought she could trust her. Trust was a hard thing to come by in this place, as nobody here knew anything about anyone else.

Caroline's laugh was contagious, and, even though she was talking about kidnapping and psychopaths, both of the girls were soon howling with laughter. What she said hadn't been all that funny, but it felt amazing to not worry for even a short amount of time. They had both needed something to lighten their moods. When they finally calmed down, Blair wiped a tear from her eyes, feeling much better than she had minutes before.

"So, I am extremely bored and I'm positive that I'll go mad if I have to stare at these plain white walls for another minute. What do you do for fun in this place?" She asked with a grin.

Laughing with Blair was extremely nice. It felt wonderful to let go of her worries and just laugh for a while. "I think we'll all go mad. I think they meant for us to get bored. For us to go crazy staring at the same white surfaces. I think the only fun we have is each other. The only color in a white infested building." She looked around. "I don't know of anything fun to do around here."

Well that backfired, Kaiden thought to himself, but at least she would only result to self-defense most of the time. When Reyna started to ask him the same questioned he asked, "I rather not." He answered, he had a lot of things he wanted to do when they got out, but getting blood on his hands were definitely not on his agenda, people starting to talk everywhere again, or they hadn't stopped, maybe in the serious mood they all were in for most of the day, they hadn't noticed how loud they actually were, amazing how much noise just 16 can make.
