Fantasy Those who came before

MrPotato

The Potato Champion

There are many rumors about those who came before, the people that lived on this very earth a few millenniums ago. They were called differently by different species. The humans called them Ancients. In the Elvish tongue, they were called Seers. And the dwarves called them Sentinels. Others more or less followed the three.

But one thing however, is definitely true. Those who came before possessed extraordinary powers. They were the founders of the ancient mysterious and all powerful dark magic. They created the foundations of the elements of the world and were also responsible for most of the powers right now.

Their extinction came as a great loss. The ancient dark arts were lost and some of the foundations of the elements were lost as well. It was said that a great and powerful beast destroyed their entire civilization. Its name was lost as well and is only referred to as the Ultimate Terror.

Some research have indicated that the Ancients had managed to defeat this beast, but only after it was surrounded by a field of the dead. Many had died fighting the Ultimate Terror and eventually, the Ancients die off.

Many scholars and researchers tried to dig up about the Ancients. For the past few decades, there was nothing of significance. But recently, a cult of dark sorcerers had been trying to get whatever remaining artefacts of the Ancients. It is said that they are trying to revive the ancient dark arts once again and summon the Ultimate Terror. This would bring an end to the peace we know and plunge the earth into dark times once again.

Thagnarok, the Grandmaster

Lorthington

Thagnarok hid inside one of the human homes. He was sitting on a chair. A man and a woman were tied behind on one of the poles. He had been waiting for an hour. He had received words that a group of researchers had uncovered a manuscript containing a piece of lore about the ancient dark magic. He had sent some scouts to inform him when the group of researchers have arrived. Surely, those adventurers and a few other soldiers would be guarding them. He waited quietly and patiently for any news.

A glint of silver slipped into the neck of one of the corrupted landlords of a distant town not far from the capital. Wanted for extreme corruption and human trafficking, the bounty on his head was worth thousands of money. Castle smirked as she watched her victim writhe in pain before falling completely still. Signing the wanted warrant with the victim's blood, she set out of the man's house and towards a hidden cave where her client has hidden in. As she neared the cave, the strong malicious aura of a Dark Legion member wafted into her senses as she took caution into traveling. Putting the client in danger could mean that the deal's off. Finally, after a while, she managed to gather her bounty and leave the area.

Is there anyone following me? Again?!

She sighed with the thought as she made her way through the forest.

@Anyone

From the shadows in a corner of the main room, the dark green dressed man watched the adventurers and guards. He was guarding the manuscript as well but he knew the best way to guard is to watch. He held his bow with an arrow ready to draw while scanning the room. His eyes widen slightly when he felt a change in the air meaning someone opened a way to the outside but it was too slight to be the main door. He strained his ear and heard a light noise in the rafters. It was so slight even he would count it as rats or just a breeze on a normal day but today was a day to be paranoid. Silently he backed up through a doorway and moved quickly towards the way to the rafters. @Jack of Cloves

I watched the man make his way towards me, I was amused. "Barely making a sound when I came in and he still notices me, he's good" I though to my self as I made my way to the other side of the room. Once I got to the other side I tied a hook to a heavy rock and slung it to the other side of the room making it hit the wall loosely hanging on to the cobblestone walls. The hook slid down the wall and emanated a scratching sound, so it was like someone was trying to escape from him and go to the other side of the room.

I watched the cart roll away from my sights, I was dressed in normal civilian clothes to avoid looking suspicious but the two wings on my back didn't help the image. So far traveling to the other kingdom for the manuscript would take quite a while, but by cart that would be the perfect traveling choice.

I drop down next to the cart and I reach out, "Excuse me?" I had a worried look painted on my face and made my self look winded trying to get the cart to stop.

Amellios sat on the ground of his training area playing with a cat " You are just the cutest thing ever" he scratched behind the cats ear and listen to it purr "I wish I could sit here and play with you all day but I need to train" he scratched the cats hear once again before standing up he picked up his Staff and aimed at one of the targets. "Ágio fos" he stated and a blinding ball of light came flying from his staff, it hit the target dead in it's center he turned and aimed at three targets "Tríklino pyrovólise ágio fos" he yelled and three blast of light flew to the Targets hitting the center

Naomi had climbed on top of a house in Lorthington and was admiring the pouch of money that she had just received from stealing for a client. She tossed it in her hand, thinking if she would have any to spare for lesiurely things.

While she was sitting, she began to gaze down upon the people walking down below. She thought of her childhood for a moment and how she used to walk around Aikido, flaunting her wealth. To think that society had turned her into what she was now... She hated the thought.

She hopped off the roof, and began to wander herself.

Mas runs over to where the noise came from and looks down and sees the rock and the hook. "Crap! A trick!" He turns around quickly to try and catch a sight of the intruder and pulls out a throwing knife because the rafters are too crowded for his long bow.

Castle looked up at the stranger who caught her attention. The hilt of her shadow blade laid pressed against her palm and ready to attack if ever the stranger showed hostility towards her. It was the wings that caught her off guard as she remembered one of her clients wanting a pair of them for a good sum of money. "What do you want?" she glanced at the stranger's intense gaze with her curious eyes.

When you went towards the hook I dived down the stairs and landed at the door trying not to slam into it, I try not to laugh. I was having too much fun at the moment, I almost came back up to fight you. But I knew my mission, going into the room I slid against the walls. There were no windows in there and the men were hunched over a table too busy to notice me come in.

Jack

I saw your eyes glitch over to my wings as I came up to you, "Hello, I was just wondering if I could inquire where your heading off too" I run my fingers through my hair and tied it back in a little pony tail so it wouldn't get in my face and looks back at you smiling.

Thagnarok, the Grandmaster

Lorthington

A small puppy barged into the room Thagnarok was waiting. The puppy was barking cutely until it shook its head vigorously. Its skin started to shed and its teeths turned into fangs. The small innocent eyes quickly became pitch black and its new skin was reddish and blackish. A death hound in disguise. Its size had also tripled. The two villagers were terrified and their eyes filled with the fear of death. The death hound made a gesture indicating that the wagon containing the manuscript is close. It is time for Thagnarok to seize it.

Thagnarok disguised the hound once more and he disguised himself as a village farmer. He knocked out the two villagers, but he didn't kill them. Thagnarok and his hound leisurely strolled around the busy town before he finally saw the wagon. There were guards and adventurers but nothing he could not handle. As long as no holy magic wielder is around. He took shelter under a large oak tree and waited for the wagon to leave.

Castle rolled her eyes at his movements underneath her hood and pointed north to where the capital is, "Gonna go back to the capital looking for a job. Unless you're offering one, I only do bounty hunting" she replied while smirking at his question.

@Jack of Cloves

He tsked when he saw no one there and immediately started running back the way he came. "They're here!" he shouted this as he ran towards the main room. "Stop bumbling around and get on them!" He pulled his bow out and knocked an arrow as he kicked open the door to the room with the manuscript.

Jack

I watch you for a moment, "Hm, well is it okay if I tag along with you? I have to go there also, I'll pay you" I added the last part at the end remembering you were a bounty hunter.

Meredith - Dark Cavern of Death

“DEVIL!”

The hopeless cries of Savad echoed through the cavern. The man did his best to keep away from the Withering Shadows, but the tongues of the inferno already licked at his expensive shoes. It wouldn’t be too long before they engulfed him completely.

He screamed when a striking woman rose from the darkness. Her pale body was covered in blood, but her smile held nothing but sweetness.

“Honestly, I don’t know what you expected when you crossed me. You extended a hand towards hell, and I was the one to grab it. Shouldn’t you feel lucky to have a woman like me in your last moments?”

The man’s face bore a sickeningly tone of white as he stared at the woman. He dropped to his knees, pride forgotten.

“Please, milady. If only...if only I knew…” He babbled a few apologies, but the woman simply shook her head.

“You caught my attention when you threatened the Legion. Poor Savad. But don’t worry,I managed to intercept the documents you were sending to the adventures. None of the damage was too permanent. Nonetheless…I do hope you understand why I can’t let you go.”

She turned to the flames, but Savad threw himself at her feet. He grabbed her legs, desperation taking control of his every action.

Milady,I beg you. I never meant to threaten you or the Dark Legion. I only fought for my beliefs. Please find some mercy in your heart, and I promise I will reward you handsomely.

The lady smiled again, but her lips held a degree of playfulness.

“Who am I, Savad? Say it well, and I might let you go after all.”

The man’s face turned dark, but he nodded. He rose to his feat, answering the question softly:

“You are the one men sing tales about. The bringer of shadows, the one who walks in death. You plan to bring the Ultimate Terror back to the surface. You are Meredith.”

The woman laughed now, a horrifying and guttural sound. And the shadows responded, engulfing them both.

I was hiding in the shadows watching the men in the room scramble and panic, "The're like ants" I lightly chuckle and jump on top of the book cases. Looking over to the man that busted in I smiled getting even more excited, I push over the bookcases trapping one of the men under the bookcases.

"Hello~" I smile and snatch the manuscript as I step on the man under the bookcase. "And good bye." I slip away from underneath you and bust out the door.

Without blinking he points his bow towards you and fires. As the arrow heads towards you a slight breeze, out of place in a room without windows, blows from behind the arrow speeding it up.

A smile grew on her lips as she exhaled sharply in a soft chuckle, "Alright then as long as there's money involved, I might make you an exception. Where did you come from anyway?" Castle couldn't help but notice his wings twitching every now and then. Were they sensitive like the wings of a demon? Do they feel sensations like heat and touch? Or do they just simply grow for the user to fly and all? Perhaps it was the magical elements of wings like these that attracted her client into paying for it to be brought to her in a glass cover.

I look behind to see and arrow seconds away from my face, I slide down now sliding in circles on the floor then roll into the main door, "What?" Where the only words that came out of my mouth before I saw you coming towards me. I take out the bow and arrow with a rope around it shooting it into the rafters so I could make a quick escape. "I would love to play more but I have places to be" I wave the paper at you, "I bid you an adieu."

He takes one more shot the breeze growing stronger making the arrow fly even faster. As you swing with the rope into the rafters the arrow skims the side of your left leg, cutting the fabric and barely scratching you. He stares after you for a second before letting out a growl and going to help the man under the bookcase. "Of course I just had to pick the losing side didn't I?" He mumbles as he lifts the bookcase.

Jack

"Ah, thank you. I came from the province over." I smiled again being very vague with my answers. I fished out my wallet and asked, "How much do you want?"

Once I get a good distance away from the castle I take off my outfit and change into regular nobles clothes making my way to the Dark Leagus HQ.

"I'll charge you when we get there. It depends on the amount of trouble we will go through, that is unless I run into another target or client along the way, perhaps I wouldn't have to charge you then." Castle replied as they journeyed together. "So looks like this is going to take long, what shall I address you as?" she flicked out a stick of chocolate and munched on it.
