Fantasy The Twelve Gatekeepers

"That was nothing." Aquarius exclaimed, a proud tune to his words. His gaze was out towards the water, scanning the waters around them for some sort of land to stop Belle on. He didn't look to be as captivated by the water as she was, being used to flying over the same ocean for many years now. He then leaned far over her left, almost looking like he was about to fall, and spoke to the mare. "Belle, there should be an island over there with a rather welcoming group of people. Mind taking us to our usual spot?" The greenery of an island soon came into view, a mountain centered around flat terrain which then met with the sandy shores of the ocean. He didn't mention it, but this island was a part of a chain of islands, their locations being much further away from where they were now.
Both riders would see Belle tilt her head towards Aquarius, making out an expression similar to rolling her eyes at him. She neighed to signify her recognition of the command, and dove in slowly until they were rather close to the water. The equine came close enough that it almost looked like she could be running across the surface, sea spray hitting Capricorn's face. Aquarius on the other hand, mischieviously chuckling as he hid behind her back to cover himself from most of the water.

"Nothing...", Capricorn thought to herself. As Aquarius leaned out further, she thought he would do another one of his 'stunts', but she soon understood that he was actually just looking for a place to land.

She looked down in amazement, seeing the small island. Of course, the High Palace and its surroundings were also beautiful, but seeing this mortal world was completely different. For Capricorn it was incomparable.

Belle went in for another dive, this time much slower and much smoother than the ones before. They came close to the water surface. Capricorn slightly narrowed her eyes as some of the water hit her face. Behind her back, she could barely hear Aquarius chuckling.

Belle's glide soon slowed even further when they approached the island's shore, the equine kicking up sand when she landed on the gritty land. She uttered a neigh and came to a stop, her wings folding in to allow both of her passengers to get off easily. Her leather saddle was nearly covered by the sea spray, a material that would be likely to stink if Aquarius didn't replace or clean it properly.

"I'll call for you when we get back, alright Belle? For now just head back to the Palace and rest." Aquarius gave the mare a soft smile, placing his hand on her muzzle and rubbing it gently. He teased the animal constantly, but he could never be more grateful to her; one would almost think he would prefer the mare over his own siblings. "Capricorn, how was the ride?" He seemed to calm down from his more over-excited side, and Belle turned her neck to look over at Capricorn with a light tilt in her head as if she was asking the same question.

Capricorn got off of Belle's saddle. She wiped her face with a handkerchief and, with her hands, quickly wiped some of the sand, that had been kicked up during Belle's landing, off her knee long skirt.

Capricorn turned towards Aquarius, as he talked to her. "Oh, you know, it was alright. I'm pretty glad to finally have some solid ground under my feet. But, I mean, I'm still alive, aren't I?", she replied sarcastically, one eyebrow raised. She had always preferred walking more than flying, she thought it was mostly because she was an earth sign. "So, ", she continued, "Where to now?" She stretched her arms, which felt kind of sore from the flight.

Aquarius patted Belle's back, a signal for her to take off and hide. Then turning towards Capricorn, he gave her his usual cheery grin. "Well, at least you didn't hate it. But you'll have to get used to it if you want me to take you down more often." The male stuffed his hands into the pockets of his heavy jacket, biting at his lips while thinking of where to take her first. "Closer inland is a town that started a few decades ago, so its recent. Fairly welcoming crowd, I love their inn. Liquor is a bit weak there, but it makes the humans happy. Festival's every now and then. Ah, by the way, my alias for the humans is A. I never give them my full name, but I had to give them something to call me since I visit here often. And if they ask where I go every now and then, tell them I travel by boat between islands for sight-seeing." He began to fire off without letting her speak. The earlier pieces of information was the gist of the islands welcoming factors, the latter pieces was hinting that perhaps she should fabricate a short history of herself.

Capricorn sighed. Getting used to this? That would be a difficult, if not impossible task for her. She nodded, as she received all these new informations from Aquarius. "So A it is. Ugh, I'll need some time to get used to all of this."

She rested both of her hands on her hips and looked around, taking a deep breath. "It's almost the same as it is at home... But it's still kind of different?", she said, smirking. She went with one hand through her hair, which was slightly messy due to the wind and the water. "So? I guess you'll lead the way, huh?", she asked with a smile, facing Aquarius.

"Well of course, m'lady" Aquarius responded with a sarcastic tone, a mock bow to follow along. "Unless you wish to explore it for yourself, and I'll just follow." He then offered, grin on his lips as he came up from the bow. He dusted off his own jacket to remove the sand and water that had collected on the outer edge, looking towards the treeline slightly inland. "I do recommend you visiting the waterfall on the other side of the island, great place for a swim." He looked over the mountain centering the island, contemplating where else he thinks she would enjoy in this new terrain. "Or if more earthy settings are what you want to see, there are a few exotic species always within their forests."

"Hmm...", Capricorn looked around once more. "A waterfall you say? Sounds good to me. So I guess it's this waaaay...?", she asked as she started walking. Her orientation had never been very good, even now she tended to often get lost in the High Palace, so it was even worse in a place like this, unknown to her. She admired the scenery and just seemed to not get enough of it. She looked over her shoulder, checking if Aquarius was still behind her. "You'll tell me if we're heading the right way, right?", she asked as she continued walking straight forward. "Also, are there like, any, how should I say it, dangers?, that I should be aware of?" Even though she was amazed by the whole island, she couldn't shake of the uneasy feeling she had before coming here.

"Sure, sure." Aquarius had a childish grin on his face, since he knew exactly where the waterfall was. She could take either way around the mountain, but there was a clear path from the village straight to the waterfall. That, he would let her figure out for herself. He followed behind Capricorn, jogging in the very beginning to catch up to her, and then walking a few feet behind her so she can explore for herself. "Not many, just the usual boars and snakes you'd find on an island. This is a fishing village, so its a lot quieter here than if we were to go on the mainland."
