Futuristic The Sun's Rest

Eli snorted slightly, He glanced over at the girl. He'd grown fond of her in the short time they'd been together, Knowing she had his back as long as she had, he smiled broadly, nodding.

"Aye, She'll be fine. I'm more worried about Yerself and the officer over there." He said nodding towards Edward with a sigh, "Raven spent years out here, alone. Then she tracked me for a bit, without me noticin her until recently when she slipped up a wee bit."

He shrugged it all off, "Bah, Anyways, it wont matter. Once we get to that liquor store, we'll be livin large!" he said as he stretched and groaned as his old body creaked slightly, "Maybe..." He yawned, "Maybe I'll be able to retire nearby somewhere... Open meself up a lil inn, or a tavern..."

"Just like... Back home..." He smiled warmly, letting the fantasy fill his head.

He stood up and made his way to the spot he had fallen asleep before. "Lass, Be sure ya keep close watch... unhook the generator from that chain in a bit, so whatever's up there quit's gettin shocked."

He groaned as he laid himself out and then sighed, closing his eyes, "In any event, time for a few more winks lass..."

((OOC Note))

At this point due to lack of activity and the low amount of activity availbile, as well as the fact that the next step is them coming out of the hole and making their way through the world, I propose, Unless someone has more material they want to place into the story, We time jump slightly. I will present several idea's of mine for this time jump so that the active players of this post can continue playing more and we can possibly resurrect the thread. Please reference the OOC section for more details soon!

Ashley laughed a bit as she listen to Pops carry-on. She listened to his instructions and decided she'd wait for about 10 minutes, or what she deemed would be 10 minutes, and then she would unhook the generator.

"This is a very messed up world," she leaned against the generator, talking allowed, "I've lost my brother, my family, and almost myself a few times," she was basically talking in a whisper now, so as not to disturb the others.

A little bit of time passed and she decided it was a good time to unhook the generator. She hadn't heard anything too creepy up there so she finally got up and unhooked the generator. She wasn't sure exactly when she should turn it back on, but she assumed that when she heard anything resembling a monster or two up there, it would be time to hook it back up.

Edward jolted awake. He was covered in a sweat from his recent nightmare. He looked over the room briefly. When he noticed Ashley he got up and walked over to her. "Hey. I guess Eli finally took that nap?" He looked at Eli and smiled. He enjoyed the fact that he now had friends. 'Maybe, just maybe, we have a shot at survival.' After he was done thinking he righted himself and looked to Ashley for a response.

She had just finished unhooking the generator and was aimlessly staring about, lost in thought, when she heard Edward's voice. She turned to him and talked softly, "Yeah, he's getting some well deserved Z's," she leaned up against the generator, "It's crazy to think that we've all survived for this long. We've all lost so much, yet we're still here," she looked at Edward, "Now with some friends, I feel a lot more positive about our current situation."

Edward looked at her with a small grin. "I agree. I've been searching for people for years. I'm glad the people I found weren't the ones that have a thirst for blood." He looked at the ground. "Want to see something, Ashley?"

She liked Ed, he seemed like a good guy. "You're right about that...I've had my fair share of run-ins with people like that, and trust me...it's not something I look forward to ever again." she stared at the walls. "Sure, what is it?" she said as she pushed off the generator and stepped toward him.

Edward dug around in his pockets for a bit before pulling out a small picture frame. In the picture was a young girl, age six. She had light, smooth skin and had a beautiful smile on her face. She looked exactly like Ed with the same green eyes and blonde hair. She was wearing a blue dress, but the picture only showed half of it as it is a medium-shot picture. "This was my daughter. Her name was Amethyst. She was my little angel. She was only eight when all of this happened. She survived two years with me until a gang called The Trinity killed her." He looked at the picture for a good five minutes, a single tear rolling down his face. He wiped it off and stuck the picture back in his pocket.

Eli woke, minutes after he'd fallen asleep, like a siren going off in his head, he got the feeling of "Something is not right." He rose with a start, his axe already in his hand as he made his way to the ladder wordlessly. If his companions heard him moving, or saw him, he would ignore them. He held the handle of his axe below him as he pulled himself up the ladder with one hand carefully. Eli unhooked the cover, and tapped it open. He felt weight on it, and looked beneath his feet. He slid his axe into a pair of holes that were on either side of the shaft. The flat of the axe was now a seat he used to lever himself up against the cover. He grunted, and strained, and it hardly budged.

Eli suddenly felt trapped...

He pushed again, his eyes widening in shock, his feet were on the axe now, and he pushed against the cover again.

"Nooo!" He roared out as he put his entire form into it, "Please not this!" He screamed at the cover.

Eli shuddered from the strain as he pushed up, he groaned and pushed against the titanic weight, and for a moment, he gained nothing, but after a second, the thing shifted, Eli felt it shift, He knew it shifted. He used all of his effort, everything he had to push it open, screaming, "Come ON!" He almost sobbed as he did. Then finally, the object above shifted, and rolled away. Eli pushed the manhole cover away and shivered as he looked out, Something, had rolled a car right on top of their manhole cover. Eli sat there for a long moment, shivering, realizing how close they had been to being stuck, he muttered, "Never.. Ever again..."

Ashley hugged Edward, trying to bring him some comfort. "I'm so sorry," she squeezed him tightly for a few more moments. As she let him go she stepped back and gave him a moment. "I lost my brother about 2 or years ago after everything went to hell. We were all friends in the group, practically grew up together. One night the other boys tried to attack me in my sleep and my brother fought them all off as he forced me to leave him behind," she got a little teary-eyed, "I haven't seen him since, but I haven't stopped thinking about him since that night."

She almost jumped out of her skin as she suddenly saw Eli walking all zombie-like with his axe in hand. She watched as he slowly made his way to the ladder, hoisted himself up and began doing something up there. She took a few steps over to the ladder just to listen because she was a little concerned.

Her blood went cold and she got goose-bumps as she heard his yell. What was wrong? What the hell is going on right now! As she heard the manhole cover hit pavement, she felt a little bit more relieved. "Is everything okay up there?" she asked worriedly

Eli was panting, gasping for breath as he took in the chilled night air, he leaned against the edge of the manhole, his face ashen but tinted with red, he tried to speak but the words caught in his throat. Eli slid the cover back to him, moved back to the ladder, and pulled his axe away, then, rather then walking the rest of the way down, he simply dropped. He landed almost in a catlike way, his impact was heavy, the axe held away from him, he stood up, and looked to them, a glaring look on his face, "We're leaving, Grab everything, Were getting out of here, Now. Something tried to seal us in here." He had tears streaming down his face, the fear of being trapped clear on his face. Eli was shaking as he stood up and leaned against the axe to regain his balance, still breathing heavily.

Edward ran to wake Raven and grab his things. "Eli? Is everything okay?" He ran frantically to get things together and get to the entrance.

Raven awoke with a start, and looked curiously around at the chaos. Without a word, she handed Ed his blanket back and grabbed her staff.

She walked calmly up to Eli, and put a hand on his shoulder, looking into his eyes.

Calm down. She mouthed, and jabbed a finger at Ed, who had his back turned. "You're freaking them out." She whispered, just loud enough for Eli to hear.

Edward packed his things and gathered everyone into a huddle at the entrance. "What's wrong?" Ed took a minute to regain his bearings. "What next?"

Eli shuddered, and let himself catch his breath, he took a few moments before saying, "Aye Lass... That's the point. Fear, Fear motivates, Fear speeds things up." He whispered it mostly before turning to Edward, "Something tried to lock us in, were getting out of here, Now, I'm not getting locked in a hole and left to die." He was still visibly shaken, he looked between them his body still shuddering from the exertion of moving the car off of the manhole cover.

Raven nodded. It made sense. Something had tried to lock them in?! Oh.

She peeked her head out of the manhole cover, and looked around for a good minute before pulling her head down again.

"Clear."

She climbed out of the hole and put a finger up to her lips as the others came up.

Ed hung back, making sure everyone had their things. That was close and Ed agreed that they needed to get out before something else tried to lock them in.

After Ed collected everything he began to ascend the ladder. He realized how scared Eli actually was. This made him nervous, but he knew if the group needed help, he would stand and aid them.

Eli was bearing the bags he'd set up for the group as he made his way up the ladder himself. He grunted when he came to the top, his axe in hand, he looked about and cautiously regarded the car that had been placed over the hole, searching it for further traps. When he was sure it was safe, he motioned to Raven, "Ever drive a car before girl?" He whispered.

Eli yanked the door of the car open, and checked around, the keys were on the floor of it, beneath the seat. He pushed them into the ignition and tried to turn it over, but found it wouldn't start. He shrugged, it didn't need to. He pulled the emergency brake on, and put the car in neutral. He beckoned her over, "Steer it so it's next to the manhole, we'll set up a barricade for this safe house to keep it safe in the future for later use." He would wait for her to get into the car, it was just a small coupe but Eli knew with a few other cars pushed into place it would do the job. He nodded, saying, "We'll barricade it off a bit, put them at angles, make it look kind of normal..." If Ed or Ashley got up the shaft while he was setting this up, he would be more then grateful for the help.

Raven nodded and climbed in the car, and tested the flexibility of the wheel. Satisfied, she waited for the others to go in position to push the car.

Eli put himself at the front of the car, and pushed it back, nodding to her, "Aim the wheel to the left, then I'll push it forward and..." He grunted and strained as he pushed, getting the car to budge wasn't too hard, but he wasn't that young either, "...And then we'll straighten it out and put it next..." He started to gasp slightly as he pushed the car back, it was rolling pretty well and he felt the strain on his muscles lessen as it rolled along on it's wheels. Even if the tires were barely intact, they still rolled pretty well. He stood up straight and put his hand up, "Put yer foot on the brake now then lass. Let me get behind it."

Raven slowly brought the car to a stop, and climbed out. She walked up to Eli.

"Do we need more cars?" She asked in her quiet voice, looking into his eyes. The idea of talking was still a little strange to her, but she was getting used to it.

Eli nodded at her, "Aye lass, One or two more ought to cover it well enough. Maybe just the one actually... Put it at an angle... Make it look right." He glanced around and spotted an old beat up suburban that would work for what he had in mind, "There, That one, Go see if it's unlocked while I catch my breath." He said, leaning against the car they'd already moved, he had motioned to it as he spoke.

Nodding, Raven walked up to the other car, and tried the handle. Much to her surprised, she opened it.

Raven climbed in and got herself settled, waiting for Eli.
