As the class got divided into groups, Isolde got paired up with two other students as a group.
The two seemed to have more experience with the grey hue than her, as Isolde had noticed.

Also, voice manipulation had shown to be quite difficult for her as it was her turn to try and mimic the voice of her classmate.

She was of course still a beginner, so absorbing the grey hue didnt come exactly as easily to her anyway.

Well it can't be done perfectly after first try anyway. She sighed, a bit disappointed at how badly she did it.

For me, the yellow hue is so much easier to use in all honesty.

The groups continued to practice for quite a while before finishing and returning back to their seats.
Joanne waited for everyone to sit down before speaking up: "You all did as well as you did, now we'll practice the usage of voice manipulation in consistency. The first of the group will say "Hello" or "Yes" in his or her own voice, the second, in an attempt to mimic will try to say "Goodbye" or "No" like the first one, without hearing them say that first. If you want, you can try to repeat "Hello" or "Yes" first. The thirds will do what they did before. And everyone will try to do everyones voice in a group. Try to go into groups with people whos voice you haven't heard and same sex again." Joanne went a few steps back and leaned against the wall as she waited "An keep talking to a minimum."

Most people got into groups before Isolde could do anything, but two girls were waiting by eachother, possibly for a third member to their practice group. One of them seemed quite puny. She was short, slim and seemed weak and only a gray talent. The other was somewhat comically a direct opposite. She was big, but not in the way of fat or chubby. No, she was muscular, muscular and tanned.

As Isolde had no other people to partner with, she went towards the two girls who waited at the corner.

''If you wouldnt mind, can i join your group?'' She asked the girls.

''I'm not very practiced with my talent, so please bear with me.''

She absorbed a bit of grey hue and began practicing with her group the way as her teacher had instructed.

But yet again it proved to be hard to mimic another voice.

While the two continued with their practice, Isolde glanced at her teacher to study her.

Isolde couldn't say anything more than "If" before the short girl reached her arm up, pressing his finger against Isolde's lips to sush her. "Hello." She said.

She stared confused at her for sometime, before gently removing the girl's finger.

''Um, hello.''

She sighs "Hello." she says like shes expecting Isolde to reply with something else.

The girl seemed frustrated and they walked off.
''...well then, sorry.'' She mumbled still confused.

That was weird...why did she react that way?

And what did she exactly expect me to do?

Suddenly Isolde heard a voice behind her back "Why aren't you in a group practicing?" It sounded like Joanne.

''Oh but i actually was, miss. It's just that i haven't really been able to make much of an improvement that frustrates me.''

Hmph...Well my group kinda grew tired of me it seems..

'
'Alright miss. Will do. But i was thinking. Arent there really other methods that could help me improve that i could try? Instead of only group practicing most of the time..''

Lucy wandered in late to the grey talent class, mostly due to the fact that she hadn't gotten much sleep from the night before thanks to he trip to some empty bar full of weird people. She attempted to sneak in quietly, hoping the new teacher wouldn't see her, and if she did, she wouldn't get punished for it

"I'm sorry, dear, but I don't really know other methods. Maybe I'm not a good teacher. The group method is the only good method I came up with. That way everyone has a role, one says what is to copy, the other tries to copy and the last one controls, because as far as I know people don't hear themselves like they really sound. Now would you run ahead and find a group?"

''Right, of course miss... I understand.''

She sighed and glanced around the class. Seeing as most people already were in groups that were filled up. But then she spotted a new unfamiliar face she hadn't seen before. A young girl who had just recently come into the classroom sat down alone. She didn't seem to have any partner to work with neither did she seem to care.

Isolde decided to walk towards and ask her her anyway. Not like she had others to partner up with anymore.

''Excuse me. Would you care to be my partner for practice? I am fairly new hereat this academy, and also pretty much only a novice beginner at my talent, so please bear with me.''

"hmm..." Lucy hummed for a moment, examining the girl with her one, deep-green visible eye, her other eye hidden by her long, flowing white hair. "sure" she told her after a short moment. "My name is Lucy, what's yours?" she asked, looking the older girl up and down carefully with a judging glare. Lucy was better at using her grey hue than her green however, mostly because she "practised" it more

''Nice to meet you. I'm Isolde.''

She smiled politely at her.

It sure feels like this girl is examining me right now. Though it doesn't really affect me that much. I just need to get this over with for now i guess.

''Ahem, so. Shall we begin?''

"Nice to meet you Isolde, and.. Uh... Sure..?" she agreed, not really sure what they were supposed to begin given her lateness.

"Begin what if I may ask? I was a little bit late so... I don't really know" she explained, smiling back. Lucy hated these "partner exercises" because she generally had no one to do them with, this was a first for her

''Oh right. You came later than the others, pardon me. I'll explain it to you then.''

So Isolde took her time to explain the girl what the teacher had told them to do, up until now.

''Basically our teacher wanted us to learn about voice manipulation and we had to work in groups and copy each others voices. Which had deemed to be rather futile for me till now. And my previous group apparently decided to leave me hanging here alone as well. Whether they became tired or annoyed with me, i can't tell.

So..yeah...'' She looked down and shrugged.

"Great... Voice manipulation" Lucy groaned, that being one of her worst aspects of her grey hue. "how are we supposed to practise in groups then? just mimic each other?" she asked while rubbing her chin in thought. "because I'm not very good at it... How you go first" Lucy suggested with a grin, thinking that it would also give her an idea of how good Isolde was with grey magic

''Um, okay then.''

As Lucy said a word, Isolde did her best to repeat using the same voice. Only that it again didn't properly work out for her, but atleast with some minor improvements this time.

Lucy did the same afterwards, her voice sounding similar to Isolde's but not the same, someone would easily be able to tell the difference between the two, each time she tried, her voice seemed to get closer, but unable to match it as perfectly as some of the other better students were doing

''Heh, i must say. You certainly seem to be doing a lot better than i am. This is a bit tiring, don't you think?''

"You get used to it after a while, the more practise you do, the more you are able to stand it" Lucy told her with a grin while trying to impersonate Isolde's voice. She gave up on trying and thought about what they should do now, bored of trying to manipulate her voice
