Fantasy The Misfits

After nodding to Storm about training, she shifted, once again checking that the laptop was secure as they were given instructions for where to go next. Cory wasn't sure what to make of the "center" as she had no idea of the place's layout and was having trouble coming up with ways to be "stealthy", only to become more confused when a grinning Danny appeared on the roof before them in a flash, apparently having brought Leo with him? The pilot cocked her head, unsure what to make of his greeting, unsure what to make of most of the current situation. "Hi," she replied flatly, rubbing the lenses of her goggles with her shirt. Curling her lip at realizing that only transferred more dust and ash onto them, she began searching herself for a cleaner bit of cloth, awaiting a game plan.

@Danny Blake @ChrisClark13 @Shog

Saying Leo was confused would be an understatement.  He was in the middle of a fight, and winning if you'd ask him, then was teleported who knows how far away after hearing a bang.  His first thought was that they had a teleporting metahuman and moved to attack the person who'd grabbed him even though they were laying on the ground.  Luckily he stopped himself, remembering that Danny could teleport.  Why they ended up next to Phoenix and Storm was beyond him, but it wasn't such a bad thing.  They needed to regroup and formulate a new stratagy with their new information.  He stood up and brushed himself off, taking in deep breaths of the... less-than fresh air.  He took a better look around and realized just how much damage had been done to the exterior.  He then gazed off towards Portwood.  Officials would be comming soon to investigate.  Not even KorTech could get off clean from this one.  Even if they purchased the land legally, Leo doubted installing defensive turrets was part of the agreement.  Then the public whiplash would be even worse.  The thought would make him smile if it didn't also mean that they were on a time limit here.  They needed to slow them down, but also get inside.

"Storm," Whiplash said, "I know your power isn't total weather control, but do you think you could get the weather angry again?  If we can keep helicopers from flying here then we can buy ourselves some time.  15 minutes, if we're lucky.  In the mean time, Phoenix, can you show me the tunnle the geokinetic made?"

@Moolock@Danny Blake@ChrisClark13

"Yeah i totally knew and planned for this to happen I personally think 20 is a crowd." Danny said jokingly assuming that's how many army guys there were and not quite sure how they ended up here as he thought his teleportation was limited to his vision. Whichever way works is what Danny always says which may be from all the killing he does. "Well shog i'll just tag along with you two can't let you have all the fun." He said with a wink that couldn't be seen because of his helmet.

Cory nods, the Module revving up. "Fifteen? Alrighty," she mutters, walking up to the edge of the gaping hole. It got too dark too quickly for her to tell just how deep the tunnel went, though she supposed a fair distance as the stone knight didn't seem like he wanted to continue the battle. Biting her lip, the pilot worried that the knight was waiting on one of the floors for them to fly past and ambush them. It wouldn't be a bad idea. All he'd have to do is close off the top and sides of the tunnel and voila, they'd be in a cage. She summoned a large ball of fire before her and willed it to hover to the center of the tunnel. After a few moments of it quivering in place, it dropped, falling down the tunnel illuminating the depth of the hole. She was able to count twenty-five floors before the fireball got out of range and vanished. Glancing to Leo, she gestured to the hole. "Shall we?"

@Shog @Danny Blake @ChrisClark13

Whiplash looked down the hole and con templated their options.  He was hoping to find a hole that connected to an underground tunnle, hopefully leading to where they needed to go.  No such luck.  He really didn't trust being in a tunnel with only the geokinetic.  It only mad it worse knowing that the tunnel was made by the geokinetic himself.  What they needed was to find another way in.  The problem would be doing so undetected.  He stood up and paced, saying "Give me a minute."

Almost as soon as he said that he realized that was a bad choice of words.  They didn't have a minute to waste thinking.  He quickly ran over various sinarios in his mind, none of them good or remotly efficient.  The security system would still be sut down, he made sure of that, but there would still be guards.  Unless they could get in some place where there weren't any guards.  The vents!  They wouldn't have any form of alarm or defense active acny more.  He had downlaoded the schematics for just about every part of the building that control room had access to, and that included the vents.  He brought up the schematics and looked them over.  "Ok, new plan.  It'll be tight, and I mean really tight, but we should be able to squeeze through the vents.  They don't have any security any more, so we should be able to get in quickly and quietly.  What do you think?""

@Moolock@Danny Blake@ChrisClark13

Storm Maiden looked up at Whiplash from the part of the hole that she had already hovered down and then floated back up, "I have to admit, you have a point. The geokinetic could be waiting for us to follow him down the hole. Though I also think vents are stupid, one loud noise in the wrong spot and we end up perforated. Also if they're not idiots then most of the vents can and will be too small for us to get through or barred or just plain shut. Not to mention most of them might not support our weight and I'm the only one really able to make myself lighter.."

"As for making another lightning storm that'll take me at least fifteen minutes to set up again if I really rush it and I don't think I could make the weather bad enough to disallow flying unless I was personally striking down helicopters."

Storm Maiden looked over to a door, "What I think we should do is just... either go in through the front door or have Pheonix drop a huge fireball down the tunnel to cover our entrance into it. Use your explosives or Pheonix's fire to get past any security barriers that come up. In any case, I'll be taking point this time since I'm our best heavy hitter especially when I don't hold back."

@Moolock @Danny Blake @Shog

"On the contrary, the vents should the perfect place to enter," Whiplash countered.  "Especially with our shortened time-table.  The vents need to be large enough to allow enough air in to reach the entire complex, even deep underground.  That should be plenty big for our purposes.  Previously they relied on their security system to keep out intruders, but that's shut down and they're not bringing it back up any time soon.  We'd need to stay fairly distanced, but deeper inside there's a lot of space not used thatvents cross.  Probably for structural integrity.  Only when we go that deep should bring quiet be much of a concern.  Besides, it's still loud and chaotic in there.  I'd also prefer to avoid the guards in power armor.  You take whichever rout you think best, I'm not the boss of any of you, but I'm taking the vents."  With that, he turned and headed off towards the vent entrance.  He heard the sounds of helicopters in the distance and picked up the pace.  "And remember to keep your mike on!"

Cory glanced between Storm and Whiplash, weighing who she'd go with. These power armor guys sounded like a problem and she was relatively small so vent size wouldn't be an issue. Even with the FI Module, she'd fit, judging by the size of the entrance Leo was making his way to. The idea of descending into a hole made by an enemy where an ambush could be waiting didn't thrill her much either. Taking a deep breath, she went to follow Leo, sliding into the vent behind him. "'M coming with you," she muttered, reaching up to slide her goggles down to hang at her neck as the slightly tinted lenses, plus ash, wouldn't do her any good in the dimness of the vents. As she'd hoped, it was actually quite roomy, her only care being that she didn't hit the Module against the roof of the metal tunnel.

@Shog

Storm Maiden sighed and followed Whiplash and Phoenix to the vent entrance, "Fine, it'll at least get us deeper into the compound before the vents get too small for us to crawl through. Vent defenses are also technically impractical, but KorTech is a meta-tech company who put turrets up here, so it's still likely." With a huff she stomped past the others, "I'm taking point, my barrier does protect against most forms of attack and so when we do run into any crazy vent defenses then it'll be my barrier taking the attack instead of one of us losing a limb or something. For the record I still do think this is a dumb idea, but our chances are better if we stick together. But, I'm taking point. Got it?"

@Moolock @Shog @Danny Blake

"Well you guys can do that cramped bullshit i personally don't like cramped spaces that's why i stick to missionary." Before anyone could respond Danny jumped down the hole he knew that if his teleportation effect malfunctioned he would be fucked. As he was falling he turned his invisibility on just in case an ambush did happen. Everything went through his mind then nothing at all as he had to be focused and not be a second late. As soon as Danny saw the ground he wasted no time and teleported to the ground. At the bottom all Danny could see was some guy covered in rock and lots of tunnels. "Maybe if i just wait here and watch the guy he'll get bored and lead me to the entrance out of this cluster fuck of tunnels."

Before Whiplash could say anything, Danny was gone.  Oh well.  Maybe he'd find something on his own.  Regardless, they didn't have time to spare.  Letting Storm Maiden in the vent ahead of him he began crawling.  He didn't look back, but knew Phoenix was behind him.  Before they were too deep into it he heard the sounds of helicopter blades slicing the air.  No doubt someone comming to investigate.  Unless someone  was leaving in a hurry.  As they moved along, Whiplash paid attention to the map he had pulled up to tell Storm when to turn and when they should try extra hard to be quiet.  Soon enough the vents were set up primarally alongspace with no rooms right n ext to them.  They could relax for a while, but not for long.  The size of the vents had been getting noticably smaller as they moved deeper into the mountain and soon they wouldn't have enough room to move at all.  Especially Phoenix, with her wings and all.  He directed Storm to a possible exit.  It led to what he assumed was a conference room of some sort.  With luck, it would be empty.

@ChrisClark13@Danny Blake@Moolock

Cory stays quiet as they move forward, every so often glancing between her legs down at the vent behind them, just in case anything follows or billows out or shoots through the metal at them. The vents were indeed closing in, earning an uncomfortable shift every so often from the pilot. Her device would become an issue if these got any smaller. Up ahead, they seemed to slow and come to a stop. To calm herself and release a little nervous energy, she held her hand in front of her face and lit the tiniest of fires, a candle-sized flame emitting enough light equal to a lightening bug. Nothing large, nothing impressive or even warm. Just seeing the yellow glow made her a little calmer. Cupping it as one would a delicate insect perhaps, she eyed the flame, every so often looking ahead to Leo and Storm beyond him.

@Shog@ChrisClark13

Danny felt terrible for leaving the other guys since he hadn't heard from them in a while and suddenly he lost his motivation and his suit came out of invisibility and turned blue. What Danny thought to be a malfunction may be something else since this has been the second time his suit changed color. The stone guy was turned away when this happened and Danny quickly ran to hide. He sicked himself up and turned invisible again and saw the guy turn to leave and followed him at a reasonable distance.

(Guys lets get back on track.) @Shog @Moolock @ChrisClark13

Storm Maiden nodded and lead the way to the conference room, as she neared it though she could start to hear voices...

She twisted around and raised a finger over her to signal the others to be quiet before advancing. She carefully levitated herself over to the vent cover before motioning back at Whiplash to get over here as she squeezed to the side so both of them could hear what's going on.

Putting her ear to the metal she was able to at least partially hear what was going on.

"-have infiltrated our base, we have identified three of them as Storm Maiden, Whiplash, Death Bringer, with the last one being an unknown with fire control powers and flight. Storm Maiden and the unknown have proven themselves to both be A Class threats, dealing catastrophic damage to our exterior defenses and nearly baking Stone Knight in his own armor. Death Bringer is a B Class threat while Whiplash is a C Class threat, though the latter makes up for his low threat rating with his hacking skills. Our think tank believes that the unknown is inexperienced in combat and with her powers, but the literal firepower she can command makes her an even greater threat than Storm Maiden as she doesn't know how to hold back.

At 1300 hours the unknown and Storm Maiden attacked our exterior defenses as a diversion while Whiplash and Death Bringer hacked into our systems, shutting off defenses and emergency protocols in sectors A through E. The R Sectors remained unaffected thanks to the separated systems, though also thanks to that they did not know that we were under attack until ten minutes ago.

"That brings us up to now, Death Bringer is in the middle of our base causing what is likely another diversion while Storm Maiden, Whiplash, and the unknown are infiltrating our base as I speak. We need to find and stop those three before they reach the R Sectors though we also need to capture or kill Death Bringer as well as escort the research and other data to safety."

"Ah, Stone Knight, good to see you're back up on your feet and in your armor. You are to get back out there immediately and find and eliminate Death Bringer as a threat, capture would be preferred but if you must kill him in order to protect the lives of our personnel then do so.

"Squads H3 and I5 and Mirage, you are to meet up with the R Squads and Seer to ensure that their critical data gets properly purged from the systems and the backups and the captures are evacuated safely through the escape tunnels. Once you reach the garage you are to change into plain clothes, use the unremarkable vehicles, and then make your way to the primary HQ in disguise. The risk of Storm Maiden or another flyer intercepting the convoy if the other methods are used is too great.

"The rest of you are to find and neutralize Storm Maiden, Whiplash, and the unknown. Our think tank highly suggests eliminating the unknown first and if possible separating her from the others, without Storm Maiden or Whiplash there to help her stay focused she'll be less of a threat and be careful when you corner her as she is likely to bring out firepower equal to or greater than what she's already shown. The unknown and Storm Maiden are the greatest combat threats, capture is preferred but if either of them places our Agents in mortal danger then use lethal force, most likely this will be the unknown though if pushed Storm Maiden has been known to resort to lethal force herself. While those two are the greatest combat threats, Whiplash must be prevented from accessing any more our of systems and unless it is unavoidable, lethal force is not authorized against him. He is also the priority target, the think tank believes without him none of the other infiltrators will be able to get past the defences of the R sectors in time to stop the evacuation of the data and the captures.

"You are all dismissed!"

@Moolock @Shog @Danny Blake

Whiplash stopped when Storm Maiden indicated.  Only when she motioned him forward did he do so, trying to move as quietly as he could.  When he began listening the first thing he heard was the classification listing.  They all seemed fairly accurate, despite secretly wishing he was a bit higher.  None the less, he continued listening as neutrally as he could.  When he mentioned H3, I5, and Mirage, he became more intrigued.  If they had another base they with more information, they needed to know where it was.  He always carried a couple trackers with him like Rocket used to insist, but always forgot to use them.  Now would be a good time if it could be planted on one of their escape vehicles, but it seemed unlikely that's what was going to happen.

This brought his thoughts back to the mysterious R sectors.  This must be the sections he coudn't access earlier.  He knew roughly where it was, but getting there would be difficult.  Danny's invisibility would be nice, but he didn't have that option.  Speaking of which, if he followed Stone Knight then he might have heard a fair portion of the announcement.

A plan began forming in his head.  Tracking the vehicles would be nice, but if they could get information from the system before it was purged then they could discover the location of where they were going.  This meant he needed to reach a terminal of some sort.  If it was connected to the rest of the R system then he wold be able to access information and maybe even stop the purge completely.  The biggest problem would be others attacking him.  He knew how to fight, but he couldn't hack at the same time.  If they were seperated then they had a chance of spreading their forces thin, but that's also what they wanted.  Plus, he was the priority target, apparently.  This meant he couldn't go anywhere alone any more.  Then again, if it looked like he was alone then his attackers would be a little less on guard.  If they split into two groups again, they wouldn't be totally seperated and have less attackers than if they were in one group.  If they could figure out how to shut out some of the attackers, however, being in a group would be benficial.

As the room emptied he leaned closer to storm maiden and whispered "I have some ideas I need to discuss with everyone.  Up around the corner if you turn right is another room.  Hopefully a restroom, which should be emptry."

@Moolock@Danny Blake@ChrisClark13

As the people of the meeting room started to leave suddenly a voice called out and said "All of you get the fuck back here or else." Everyone turned to see the main speaker a little clammy and terror was in his eyes. It seemed that everyone was afraid when a man appeared out of thin air with a sword around the main speaker's neck. The stone guy tried to get his defences out and that was when Danny had enough. His armour turned red and he pulled out his gun that was on the "boom" setting and destroyed the rock guy's armour. "Now i heard all of your little convo and all of you are going to do not shit or else you will promptly get another destructive bullet. Now HOW THE FUCK AM I CLASS B." Danny roared he was pissed. Then all of a sudden everyone pulled their guns on Danny. "Are you fucking serious. I'll show you why I should be your number one priority." He said with a sly grin. But just as he was about to cut the fucker's neck he remembered that they were still in the dark and needed intelligence so he just shot a hole in the wall and went invisible with the guy turning invisible with him. "Say a word and you are fucking dead." Danny whispered in the guy's ear. He waited until everyone ran out of the room through the hole to reveal himself still in the room. He turned his radio on and said "Guys you will not believe what i just pulled off!

Cory'd come to a sudden stop when Whiplash halted in front of her and lowered her back suddenly to keep the Module from scraping the top of the duct. Being further back from the vent grate, she caught snippets of the conversation, though was able to get the gist. They'd had ranks and the base was being left behind, if possible, with all the information the heroes had been here for. How irksome. The term "neutralize" didn't fill her with glee either.

Did she have a plan? No, of course not. For all she knew, she was a pilot and an apprentice mechanic. She didn't come up with master plans or schemes how they'd get over this. She was a little dismayed that the Stone Knight still seemed to be in condition to fight, then again he'd retreated before getting any permanent damage. Smart. -Not Danny, evidently, as she heard him shout out from the room below. What the hell was he doing?! More shouting, her flinching once or twice, and the sickening sound of metal through flesh, and she heard her radio crackle with his voice. If Whiplash could see her face, it would be mixed expressions of "what-the-fck-just-happened" and "there's-no-way-we're-that-lucky". Maybe a little impressed at Danny's daring-ness? Mostly appalled.

Damn this vent, damn it being so small, damn her not being able to come up with anything smart or clever that would help out. Not for the first time, she questioned why she was here and why the hell she had to be a glass cannon. Worst style of fighting ever. Stop getting worked up, she scolded herself as she'd realized her face felt hot and her breathing had grown quick and shallow. Glancing up to Whiplash, she muttered very quietly into her radio, "Are we going down?"

@Shog @ChrisClark13 @Danny Blake

"Yes," Whiplash said and motioned for Storm Maiden to move back a bit and proceded to shove the vent cover off.  He would have prefered to have just shot kinetic energy at it, but Danny, Death Bringer, just got everyone out of the room and didn't want to draw attention back to the room.  Instead he added just enough to bend the cover back and widen the hole in the vent leading to the room.  He hopped down, landing on the table.  He contemplated offering help to the girls, but the drop wasn't that far of a drop.

"Really?" Whiplash asked Danny.  "Try me."  A smirk covered his face, but no one could see it.  They could probably hear it in his voice, though.  "I'm just going to assume you heard all of that.  All of the important parts, at least.  Now, I'm open to suggestions, but I believe we should stick together as one group as we move forward.  We'll be one etarget, but we will have more fire power together.  We even have someone who can lead us right to the R sectors, right?"

The man had sweat bulding on his brow and swallowed hard.  "Well, I... I can't... I don't think..."

Whiplash cut him off.  "Then don't think.  Just do it.  Let me make it perfectly clear that I'm no team leader and I can't stop Death Bringer here from doing what he does best if you annoy him too much.  So, where do we go?"

@Danny Blake@Moolock@ChrisClark13

Danny almost jumped when a vent suddenly fell behind him. "Jesus dude i almost shot you" Danny said semi jokingly with a chuckle. "Oh yeah uh i had a hidden alien gun i was planning on telling you but that was the boom that went off before i teleported us to the girls all of those guards we were fighting are dead. NOW who deserves an A level threat bitch." Danny shoved the guy forward " You heard the guy walk and any sudden movements, if you flatulate you better hope it is the best damn fart you ever had because that will be the last one you ever have." As the guy is leading Danny slides next to phoenix. "So Phe what i did back there pretty cool and brave huh. Don't worry i'll accept a date after the mission." The guy thinking Danny is distracted starts to run but it's a narrow corridor so Danny teleports in front of him shoves his hand in the guy's mouth and stabs him through the foot. The guy let out a muffled scream but it got nowhere since Danny's hand was in his mouth. "Maybe you'll think twice about being an idiot next time."

Storm Maiden sighed and levitated herself out of the vent, "A Class threat level is reserved for people who, when pushing their powers to the limit, can level a city block within a few hours or who have managed get a clean win against an A Class opponent in single head-to-head combat. I don't doubt you're able to kill an A Class opponent, but what I do doubt is you being able to beat one if both of you are on equal footing. B Class is for those who can threaten a building, C Class can beat a whole group of trained men, D Class is one-on-one against a trained person only, E Class is not even that. Back to the start there's S Class which means you can threaten a whole city, my mentor was able to earn that rank multiple times during his career and just because he was defeated in what I'm sure was a cowardly ambush doesn't mean that anyone at KorTech has earned a S class rating. Though from what I've seen Stone Knight easily has a A Class rating so beat him in head-to-head combat and you'll be A Class. Though for it to be official you need to have verifiable proof that you beat him, either two separate video recordings or four pieces of written proof usually in the form of after action reports. There's other nuances and ways to get A Class, but I don't think you have the time or the means do to them, though failing that you go through years of grueling training, I hear most of them aren't even scams if you don't take the military option." She ended her words with a smirk, which was hidden by her scarf... though you could see how she was smirking in her eyes.

She turns to Whiplash, "While it's fun keeping this guy scared out of his mind, which way is it to the R sectors? I'm hoping you managed to get a map of this place. Though if we have this guy we can still probably get in easier and we need to get moving before the goonsquad realizes we've duped them."

((R Sectors stands for Restricted Sectors so on the map it would've been a section of Restricted Sector: Authorized Personnel Only with no details of what's inside. While leaving it off the map is possible, it's just more practical to put it on and say "Don't go here if you want to keep your jobs/life." It would also especially be in whatever map Whiplash would've pulled out of a security booth, but also as a big block of RESTRICTED SECTOR.))

Whiplash wanted to tell Danny to calm down, but he knew he'd be wasing his breath.  Instead he returned to his device and brought up a map as he listened to Storm explain to Danny how the power ratings worked.  The map he was hoping to use was lacking in this information.  It was the general map that was given to everyone who worked there.  It just showed the areas where they were supposed to work and made no mention of other sectors.  He continued searching, knowing that there had to be a more detailed map burried somewhere in the control center.  After all, if anyone worked in the R Sectors then they would probably have a map of the whole facility.  Surely something that important would be kept in the control center he took somewhere.  When storm maiden finished asking him where to go he finally found it.  They certainly didn't make it easy to find or even access.

"This way," Whiplash said as he left the room.  He knew they'd encounter some resistance along the way and hoped the others would take care of it.  His shoulder was still quite sore from the knife wound.  He knew he needed to work more on his powers, just like Rocket always said.  He always felt more comfortable with a screen in front of him.  Not for the first time he wondered if he even deserved these powers.  Surely there were so many other people that could make more use out of them than himself.

@Danny Blake@ChrisClark13@Moolock

"Well I guess i'll just have to kill rocky and have his friend watch every second of it." Danny said kind of sadistically. "Hey prick," Danny said taking his fist out of his mouth. "You better get us wherever we need to go with no restrictions and don't bullshit me i know power when i see it you have access to the whole unit why else would you be ordering the others around, what did you think i would pick you at random, i'm not an idiot. Now if i see any doors locked and they aren't unlocked by the time i reach them then the next thing i'll cut off is your head." Danny thought a little more about what Storm said and with a sly smirk he said. "Equal footing. Baby i'm not on equal footing unless the enemy is on unequal footing. That being said," Danny sent his armor back to base ,via set teleportation which only the suit can use or else Danny would die, leaving just his two swords and hidden firearm. "let's make it unequal."

@Shog @Moolock @ChrisClark13

Cory would've stayed very quiet during all of this, as per what was becoming usual. She'd only really moved to slide off the Module and sling it over her back. It seemed they weren't moving out just yet and Danny was content scaring this man's pants brown. His comment about the date afterward was met with an uncomfortable silence from the fire-flinging pilot and she receded to the edges of the room shortly after, contenting herself with leaning against the far wall. She was shocked and frightened that they'd put her at A-Class. Danny could take her rank if he wanted it. He seemed to have more control over her abilities and all of them were up on her in that they had weapons, things to use if they ran out of energy. If she burnt out, she'd be in quite a rut, Cory realized with the smallest shudder.

She fidgeted with the straps of the Module, wanting them to get moving so they could find more about their friends- or find their friends and be done with this- and go back into the sky. Her official "suit" was still sitting in Whiplash's base, unfinished, and in her jeans and her beaten jacket, she couldn't have felt more out of place- as usual. Maybe that's why she enjoyed- to some degree- flinging fire at things. She felt too big to care about things like who she fit with. With power came a haze. She wondered if they felt it too, when they fought. She'd be surprised if Storm didn't, with how much the heroine was toting. Cory continued fiddling with the Module strap, glancing up to them in turn. She muttered at some point that she could cauterize any open wounds- though too quietly to be heard by anyone but herself. The idea quickly faded- she didn't have the best precision. It would be like using a cannon to bust a padlock.

Danny noticed phoenix going to the side and looking sort of uncomfortable *sigh* now i have to be all serious and helpful he thought. "Hey Le- er Whiplash," he said just in case they didn't kill this guy afterwards. " watch this guy for a seck?" He didn't wait for a response and went over to phoenix. "Hey Fi why are you so bummed out or scared or whatever, don't worry i'm not like those guys I won't bite your head off for being a "liability" or whatever." He shot her the nicest smile after he said that trying to reassure her that it was ok to talk to her.

"Not be to that guy, but we need to keep moving," Whiplash said.  He was a bit angry that Danny got rid of his suit when they were only going to get deeper, but there was no use arguing now.  He didn't even know how he got rid of it or where it was, but he didn't pretend to understand how the suit worked.  Maybe once they got Rocket back he could take a look at it and maybe fix any malfunctions.  Regardless, they had a mission to finish.  "The enterence isn't too far from here."

As he moved out he led the director(?) by the arm with a whip wrapped aorund the man's bisep.  "So, what can we expect on the other side of the door?"

The man seemed hesitant to respond, so he tightened his whip a bit.  This seemed to be enough.  "Well... you'll meet heavy resistance.  The guards on the inside are more than just hired meat.  They actually beleive in the projects we have here.  We also have several powered people at our disposal.  You've only met a couple of the many we have.  Though, uh, you did face some of our best!"  That last comsment seemed to be made more out of nerves than anything.  Almost as though he thought he could make them complacent with pride or something.  Seeing that it had no effect, he continued.  "There will be a terminal just on the other side of the door that will have a detailed map of the R Sector.  If you're looking for servers, you'll be too late.  They're being coppied and whiped as we speak."

"Then where can I find these coppies?" Whiplash asked, though it sounded much more like a demand.

"You won't want to find the person who has them, trust me," the man replied.  Whiplash looked back and tightened the whip again.  "Ah!  Ok, ok!  Her name's Iris.  She can coax people into doing whatever she wants just by looking into their eyes.  She has several... lackies surrounding her.  All with powers.  We have special visors to protect our employees.  Your mask might be enough, but I can't promise anything.  Your friends, however, are completly unprotected.  And we don't just have any laying around either.  Iris is a believer in our cause and does whatever she is told to."  He paused for a moment, thinking.  "So, uh, I really don't have as much jurisdiction as your friend made it sound.  I'm in charge of defending this facility, but I've only really been in the R sector a few times for some meetings with my superiors.  Please just let me go."

Whiplash didn't respond.  He didn't release him either.
