Cory squinted as she didn't see anything after the blast. She didn't think that'd been strong enough to vaporize anything, otherwise she'd've been in just as much trouble. She didn't hear anything either and had no idea what was going to happen when suddenly a weight pressed against her and cold metal touched her neck. The pilot stiffened instantly and itched to move, though upon sliding her gaze to the side, she noticed it was in fact a blade and the hand extending behind her flashed in her mind BIG TROUBLE. Cory winced, mentally kicking herself. What was that? You're not a kid? You're sure acting like one, thinking you could've done anything to help when you know nothing. She kept her eyes closed, taking a deep breath. "Keep going, guys. For the other heroes that might go missing." If she really was a child, she could manage a grin, and Cory did, looking ahead to Storm, though the comment was aimed equally at Whiplash. "If either of you say something mushy in the media when this is all over, like "we regret the loses of lives we failed to save," I will haunt you both." Cory kept calm, though her mind was still raging at being such an idiot. "Though if you get the chance, find a Ms. Emily Finn. Tell her I died in a car crash or something stupid. Beats "oh your daughter tried to be a hero and got her throat slit."
The smile faded and morphed into a scowl. Aiming a quieter comment back to the sword guy, she growled, "I hope you know you're doing them a favor getting rid of me. I'm not a hero, I'm just baggage... You were right. I'm a child. I'm two months from my birthday and I'm a child."
