The Hanyo and the Miko

Sango agreed with no hesitation whatsoever. "Yeah. I knew it too. We've all known each other a long time. Nothing has changed." She was irritated, because all this shouting woke up the girls. They were wailing fit to kill. Sango hushed them as best she could. "And, it's not my fault you were actually showing that you had a heart!" She stormed from the hut and started walking away, just to get space from someone so obnoxious as that demon!

"Honestly, the nerve of her..." Inuyasha thundered. Miroku had gone over to help Sango quite the twins, when a sudden BANG was heard from the outside of the village. Inuyasha's head lifted up, his eyes narrowed. "There's a demonic aura inside the village!" Inuyasha hissed, leaping outside of the hut. Miroku grabbed his shakujo, becoming slightly pale. He sensed it as well... yet how had it managed to mask itself for so long? Why hadn't he sensed it before. "Sango, stay in here with the girls, I'm going to head the creature off!" He said, before running outside with the Hanyo.

It was a singe man, with blood red tendrils sprouting from his back, radiating a black and red aura. His appearance looked like a shadow, yet... it was human-like, if that made any sense. His eyes gleamed red, and he seemed to be setting fire to several of the huts, while muttering to himself...

Kagome sensed it immediately, even had her weapon out. "Inuyasha!" She was searching for her friends among the masses of people trying to get away from the beast. "Miroku! Sango!" She came face to face with the demon, but still couldn't find her friends. "This is what's scaring everyone!" She could hear mothers screaming for her children and husbands screaming for their wives. "We have to kill it!" She aimed an arrow directly at it, but found herself frozen on the spot. "What's...h-happening?" Inuyasha, please hurry!

"Don't even try to fire your bow, you're paralyzed with fear, priestess..." The creature hissed, hovering a tad bit closer to Kagome. "Iron Reaver S--" Inuyasha was cut off mid sentence as another tendril wrapped around him, slamming him into the ground. As the hanyo struggled against the creature... his blade, the Tessaiga, had begun pulsing... It wanted him to draw it. As Miroku came running forward, Inuyasha halted him, yelling, "Miroku, don't attack it! Get Kagome out of here, I'll destroy this bastard with the wind scar!" Swiftly, Miroku went to get Kagome out of the way.

Kagome, on the other hand, didn't want to leave Inuyasha behind. "Shut up! I've heard enough out of you!" She tried to fire her bow directly into the demon's heart, but missed by a good foot. "You sent that girl after my friend, didn't you?!" She questioned, ignoring Miroku. "You're the one that made him like that! Inuyasha, you can't even reach Tessaiga like that! Let me handle him!" She fired another.

"Kagome, GET OUT OF HERE!" Inuyasha bellowed. He was struggling with the creature still. However, he had managed to claw through one of his tentacles, trying to reach the hilt of his blade. The second arrow hit the mark, however, instead of disintegrating the part of the demon that it touched, it simply lingered there... as though trying to push past its aura to purify it. "For a miko, you're rather out of practice..." Dākuemōshon snarled. However, the creature cringed as several of his tendrils were cleaved apart by a blade emitting copious amounts of light. The demon appeared to smirk, as though he had been waiting for this...

Inuyasha had managed to break free. "I've got this under control, back away so I can fire the wind scar!"

(I have a plan)

Kagome hesitated before backing away, toward the home of her friends. "Please be careful, Inuyasha." The miko would be crushed if the hanyo got hurt. "Alright! Do it, Inuyasha!" She was tempted, prior to the boy getting caught, to take Tessaiga away from its wielder, thus making the male stronger, but it was too late now. "If that doesn't work, drop the sword!"

"Alright, you disgusting bastard! Take this... WIND SCAR!" Inuyasha leapt into the air, his sword now crackling with demonic energy. Bringing it slashing through the air, an intense burst of power was unleashed upon Dākuemōshon. However, the demon raised his hand, and almost immediately, the wind scar turned red in color. Simultaneously, it reversed direction, right back at Inuyasha. The hanyo, whom had been astonished by the sudden change of his own attack, had little time to react as the blast struck him directly in the chest. He didn't have his fire rat robe on, but it most likely wouldn't have change anything.

His undershirt was ripped apart, and several deep gashes were made in his skin. He yelled in agony as he was struck by the force of the corrupted wind scar. As Dākuemōshon made another gesture, Inuyasha's body pulsed for a mere moment, before he was sent spiraling into one of the huts, crashing through the wall...

Kagome was beside herself with grief. She knew that his robe would have helped him somewhat. "INUYASHA!" She hollered over all the noise, charging toward him and ignoring the enemy. She saw her friend in a heap on the ground among the rubble. "Inuyasha, wake up! Get up!" She was shaking him now as the threw the fire rat robe over him. "Inuyasha!" Her eyes brimmed with a lake of tears.

Inuyasha was near death, but not quite dead. There was still a pulse, albeit very faint. He had been rendered in a state of unconsciousness. Blood poured from his wounds, and his skin was pale. The demon had made sure he wouldn't die, for some unknown reason. "I've got what I came for..." Dākuemōshon snarled, before violently making his exit, in a similar vortex fashion to Koga when he possessed sacred jewel shards.

"Inuyasha!" Miroku yelled, rushing over to the hanyo's body. Miroku was still stumped on how the wind scar had been defiled and deflected that easily. It was as though the creature hadn't even tried. "We need to get his body inside, to begin healing his wounds. A lot of the villagers were caught in the demonic onslaught, others are stuck in rubble."

Kagome nodded, worried about Inuyasha. "Miroku, I'm going to stay and heal him. You, Sango, Kohaku and Shippo go help the villagers." She ordered, a single tear slipping down her cheek. Kagome felt that this was all her fault. She left Inuyasha back at the hut, she couldn't fight the hold Dakuemoshon had on her and she was dumb enough to listen to Inuyasha when he told her to leave! "I'm sorry, Inuyasha! If I hadn't gotten so angry and so sick, I would have left your robe with you!" She held her hands over his chest.

As the Miko had said, Miroku went to get Sango, Kohaku, and Shippo. There were villagers stranded underneath rubble, people injured from the attack, and some even trapped in flames set upon their homes. Inuyasha's deep wounds seemed to have some sort of residual energy left over from the corrupted wind scar. If it was purified, it would probably make it easier for his wounds to be healed. His demon blood would also be naturally working on his wounds, helping the process along. However, he would remain in this state for quite some time, possible a few days)

(Do you wanna have a time-skip, 2-3 days?)

(Yeah)

Kagome hadn't slept since she first attempted to purify Inuyasha's wounds. She hadn't once left his side, though her own health had gotten worse during the cold season. As she waited for him, she sat in the corner, coughing. "Inuyasha, are you feeling better?" Kagome always thought Inuyasha was strong, so seeing him like this was hurting her. "I'm not leaving you until I'm sure you're okay. I won't leave knowing that demon is still around. I promise." She coughed again.

Inuyasha hadn't said a word since the attack. He had been motionless, upon the ground, and had awoken from his state of unconsciousness only hours ago. His wounds were still healing, of course, and he could hardly get up off the ground without experiencing an intense amount of pain shooting through his body. However, as Kagome spoke, Inuyasha just barely titled his head in her direction. "You should go and get some rest, I'll be fine. I'll... I'll find that monster, and I'll destroy it..." He bared his teeth as he struggled to get up, though the pain was stopping that from happening.

Kagome disagreed. "I'm not leaving, because I kn-" she turned around to cough again. "I know you're hurt and you're not going anywhere until you're better. You won't be sneaking out anywhere." The miko went out to find some medicinal herbs for her friends and the people of the village. "I wonder if Sesshomaru ever to Tenseiga back. If he didn't, and if Rin still has it, Inuyasha will be fine in no time!" She pulled up plant after plant.

"The wounds that he sustained wouldn't be quite so simple to heal," said a sudden, distinctively wheezing voice. In a mere stream of flames, the swordsmith, Totosai stood mere feet from the miko, gazing towards the rift that the wind scar had left upon the ground. He had easily sensed the presence of the demon that had attacked here, which was most likely the reason why he looked so unusually grave. He could feel the corrupted traces of the wind scar... and it made him feel rather uneasy.

"Word has gotten to me about what happened here... and know exactly who the demon is, and most unfortunately, Inuyasha's very life is still in danger."

"What are you talking about?! He's just healing right now!" Kagome wouldn't believe that Inuyasha was in any danger. "He's going to be fine as soon as I give him this medicine. You've known Inuyasha his whole life. There's no way he is just going to give up." Inuyasha, please don't leave me in this world. I love you. A tear fell down her cheek. "Master Totosai, you're wrong. Inuyasha isn't going to give up. We're going after that monster as soon as Inuyasha feels up for it." She took her basket of herbs and wiped her face. "I won't let him die. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have someone who needs me." She started back toward Inuyasha.

"You can't fight the monster, Kagome, he isn't like anything you've ever faced before. Inuyasha is stubborn, and he managed to survive, I'll give him that. However, he has more than likely been infected by Dākuemōshon. Even if his wounds are healed, it simply won't be enough if the corruption is already inside of him." Totasai sighed as he followed after the Miko. He needed to explain things, and fast, before they got themselves killed.

"Dākuemōshon is a highly powerful demon of corruption. It preys on even the smallest windows of malice or otherwise, corrupts one's mind until they themselves are just as influenced by chaos as he is. Inuyasha's father was unable to kill him, only seal him within the earth itself... I do not know how he was freed, but in any case, you cannot risk trying to face him. If my guess is correct, Inuyasha will slowly give into his demonic half, eventually losing his humanity. Even I do not know how he will be released from Dākuemōshon grasp..."

"If I can't face him, what do you expect me to do? Stand by and cheer him on as he destroys the world?" Kagome walked inside and helped Inuyasha sit up. "If I wanted this world destroyed, I would have let Naraku do it." She smiled softly at Inuyasha. "You have to drink this. It will help you." Kagome was holding the demon's hand. "I can't go home knowing you're sick, Inuyasha." No matter how much you annoy me.

"Fighting him is suicide, you're a priestess so you might last longer than any regular mortal, but you can't defeat him." Totosai got back onto his ox, giving Kagome a pitying look. His gaze turned to the Tessaiga, lying against the wall. "Take care of yourself... but be wary of Inuyasha now, the change will begin once he is healed..." Totosai said, before disappearing along with his ox in a stream of flames.

Inuyasha lifted his head to drink. His skin appeared to be regaining a bit of its color as he did so.

Kagome noticed this too. "Hey, I'm glad you're getting better. Does anything hurt?" She was constantly looking out the door or window to see if any demons would be coming now that the village was vulnerable. As she asked this question, she pressed on his chest. "I don't know how that thing found us, but I will be able to beat him or, at the very least, hold him off." Even though she was sick, she'd never leave Inuyasha like this. "Are you going to be okay?"

"My chest kinda aches, but other than that, I'm not feeling too much pain anymore. Just numb all of a sudden..." Inuyasha said, quietly. He weakly stared feebly at the Tessaiga, leaning against the wall. He could vividly remember the intense pain of getting struck by the wind scar... yet why had that happened? How had it been deflected? "Kagome, you shouldn't face the creature, not yet... You saw how it reacted to your sacred arrows, it hardly flinched."

The Hanyo fixed his gaze upon his lover, finally able to sit up a bit. "I'll be fine, don't worry."

Pulling her sweater up to her nose, Kagome stifled another cough. "That smoke got to me too." Her voice was muffled, then she brought the sweater down. "I know you'll be okay, Inuyasha." The miko knew that her friend's snarky attitude was gone for now. "Don't tell me not to worry about you." She didn't even care for her own health right now. "Thanks for saving me." As soon as all the medicine was gone, Kagome grabbed Tessaiga. "I think I can handle him. You just...just stay." She couldn't bring herself to say 'sit'. "I'll take the others with me."

Inuyasha grunted with effort as he stood on his feet, swaying slightly. He leaned against a wall to support himself, before glancing back at the Miko. "You're only human, you won't be able to activate the Tessaiga.." He began to move forward, his demon blood keeping him going. "Besides, you're sick. I'll go and take care of the demon... myself..." He extended his arm to get the Tessaiga back.

"You're sick too!" Kagome spat back, keeping the fang from Inuyasha's reach. "I'm taking Tessaiga with me and keeping it from you so that you don't get any ideas about fighting!" She turned on her heel and darted from the village. "Stay here!" Sorry about this, Inuyasha, but it's for your own good! "SIT!" She hurried to grab the others. Sango and Shippo hesitated. "You'll need me too." Kohaku insisted. "I'm still a practiced demon slayer." "Right. Come on." The miko urged them into the forest.
