The Hanyo and the Miko

"I know where she is, Koga." Kagome stopped for a second, smiling back at Koga. "Hey, I know you've been wanting to make me your woman since we met, and, I also know that you're mated to Ayame, but I just wanted to do something that we have both been wanting for a while." Her cheeks were inflamed against the pale sky. Kagome quickly leaned in and kissed Koga, before either of their mates could find them. "I'm so glad that I have someone to count on, Koga. You would never send me back home." With a pang of guilt, Kagome pulled away.

(Oh the irony! And now, for the twist)

The Wolf Yokai felt exceedingly pleased, yet bad at the same time. He was now with Ayame... but kissing Kagome like this seem to temporarily ignite his previous feelings for her, causing him to kiss back. However, just at that exact moment, a certain white-haired demon cloaked in red leapt out of the trees. "Kagome, how the heck did yo--" For a brief moment, he glimpsed the unthinkable. He had seemingly came to the ground, at a complete loss for words as the Miko pulled away from him...

You have no reason to be jealous now. He's married. Kagome's statement quite a while ago, when she had played that trick on him, came through his mind for a moment. Then, his shock immediately became savage fury, mingled with hurt from her actions.

"You... you told me...." Inuyasha gave another look at Koga, and for a split second, his eyes flashed scarlet, as they were in his demonic form. Dakuemoshon was at his work yet again.

Koga himself looked staggered by the Hanyo's sudden appearance.

Kagome stood between the two demons before they could hurt each other. Not only had she just hurt Koga, but Ayame and Inuyasha as well! "Oh..." she moaned, biting her lip. "Inuyasha, I just got so mad that you left me at home that I had to get even!"

Kagome turned around and pushed Koga out of the way. "Go! Koga, get out of here! I don't want to see you get hurt!" This time, she'd make it right. "Inuyasha, I'm sorry!" She launched herself at the other, her arms circling his neck, and kissed him. "Dakuemoshon, please stop this!" With tears in her eyes, her vision and mind were both clouded. "Please, I'll do anything!"

"SIT, BOY!" The miko urged Inuyasha. "Please, come back to me." With her hair plastered to her face, she addressed Dakuemoshon again. "Anything you want as long as no one gets hurt!" Kagome even set her bow down. "Please, just stop hurting Inuyasha!"

"Hold on, that was just to make Inuyasha made?" Koga looked confused, however, at the sight of Inuyasha's scarlet eyes, he turned back to Inuyasha.

The Wolf-Demon raised his fist, and Inuyasha's hand was beginning to lower towards the hilt of Tessaiga. "Now wait a second, mutt yo--" However, at Kagome's request, Koga paused. He was intending to argue, but she was beginning to sound hysterical. And in any case, she needed to makes things right with Inuyasha. Albeit hesitantly, he strode away, giving the Hanyo a threatening glance, in case he tried to harm Kagome in any way.

"You... I WAS TRYING TO PROTECT YOU! AND YOU GO BEHIND ME BACK AND..." This time, Inuyasha's eyes remained blood red. His transformation was beginning once again. However, as the sit command sounded, the demon collided with the ground. However, unlike usually, he didn't get back up. It was as though he was... frozen.

At that moment, high-pitched laughter rang throughout the surrounding area. Dakuemoshon wasn't physically there... yet, his presence, his voice had entered the Miko's head. His voice was spine-chilling, harboring great pride. "Oh, no one will get hurt physically, yet. No, you've done quite well harming that filthy hanyo on your own. I thought that if I tricked Inuyasha into separating you from this world, it would do well for my own plans. However, Koga freeing you was the best that could have happened. Your anger is your own downfall, and your actions have crushed your lover's spirit. He is out of your grasp, and soon, will be entirely under my control."

In a moment, the intense cold had vanished, and Inuyasha had begun stirring. He was clearly out of his demon form, but that wouldn't change much. Dakuemoshon's plan had succeeded, and the rift had been planted between them...

Kagome placed her hand just between Inuyasha's shoulder blades. "I'm sorry, Inuyasha. You're right. We can't stay together. It would just end up hurting us both." She squeezed Inuyasha's hand. "Look, I really have to go now. I'll be around every few days or so, but we can't stay together." As much as Kagome hated that, it was the truth. "I love you, Inuyasha, but Dakuemoshon will only be powerful if we're together." With one last kiss, all of Kagome's hopes for a life and a family with Inuyasha disappeared. The miko walked off, not crying, for fear of giving Dakuemoshon more power than he already had.

Inuyasha glared at his former lover, hurt still etched across his face. At her final statement, he growled. "You love me? That's exactly what I told you, when I left you in your world to protect you..." He pulled away from her kiss, and as infuriated as he was, regretted doing so. "And then you... him..." He didn't finish his statement, simply watching her go off. His insides felt like ice as she did so. He had been through many ups and downs with Kagome, but nothing like this. The person he had truly opened up to...

His gaze lingered upon her beauty, and her ebony locks, her brown eyes, her heartwarming smile stayed in his mind for quite some time. However, he turned around, looking beyond miserable. "Goodbye, Kagome..." He whispered to himself, knowing that she couldn't hear him. Not knowing if he would ever hear her soothing voice again, or if he even wanted to...

Kagome's first thought was to go back home, but, she had literally been there for maybe twenty minutes. "Inuyasha, are you serious?" She whispered. He wasn't going to follow her? That was it? They were done? "Fine. I guess I brought you some noodles for nothing." She removed her backpack and took out the instant noodles and water canteen, then she poured the water into the noodles. "What was I thinking?" Kagome started toward her home, but, paused and set the noodles on the ground. "Dakuemoshon, if you're listening, I've had enough. You wanted us apart and now you've got it." Something overcame her. Her eyes glazed over, just like Shippo's had. Her bow and an arrow were in hand with only one thing on her mind. Kill him. She walked blindly back toward Inuyasha, arrow pointed forward. "DIE!"

"Now WHAT?" Inuyasha demanded, turning around hastily. What he hadn't expected, however, was to see Kagome pointing her arrow at him. Her eyes... they weren't hers. They were exactly like the little Fox's, when he had been poisoned. He may have been exceedingly angry with her for kissing Koga... he regardless, the hanyo loved her more than anything else. He wasn't just going to stand by and let this happen. He wasn't just going to let her be controlled...

And that's when it hit him.

This had ALL been planned by Dakuemoshon. Separating Kagome from his world, the pair of them being separated. He had used their feelings for each other to set them apart... Inuyasha's stubbornness, Kagome's indignation, all so Dakuemoshon could gain greater power...

"Kagome, you're stronger than this, don't let it control you! I know you're angry at me, and you tried to get back at me. Dakuemoshon wanted you to feel angry... and he wanted me to be upset that you kissed Koga. It worked..." Inuyasha began to walk forward, the anger in his eyes lessening. "I love you, regardless..."

Kagome however, was gone. "You had your chance, mutt!" She fired the first bow, to the left of Inuyasha, then a second, a little closer. "You brought this on yourself, half demon!" This time, she was getting better with her aim, barely catching his sleeve. "Why were you so selfish? Why send me away when I wanted to get married and start a family?!"

Inuysha's eyes widened. Not only because she was using disparaging terms such as mutt, but because... she wanted to marry him, and start a family... "Kagome..." Inuyasha breathed, softly. Have you ever thought about having kids? That question as well had begun to make since. "Kagome, this isn't you... I wanted to protect you... But Dakuemoshon fooled me, he tried to separate us. Please... we can still have all of that, if you fight him!" The hanyo noticed the arrows being fired around him, be he didn't care. He wasn't even trying to defend himself, he was trying to bring Kagome back.

Kagome was growing frustrated with her aim. She just wanted to kill Inuyasha. "Yeah? Well, I don't want it now!" She fired a fourth and fifth, the fifth catching Inuyasha in the chest. "I'm going to put you back the way I found you all those years ago!" This definitely wasn't Kagome anymore. "Inuyasha, what are you doing? Wh-What's wrong with Kagome?" Rin had been playing in the forest. "Kagome!"

Inuyasha yelled in agony as the fifth arrow sank into his chest. Blood had begun to pour from the wound where the sacred arrow had struck. He collapsed, slumped against a tree. "Rin... run..." He hissed. He was growing weaker by the very moment. He barely managed to turn his head towards the priestess, his expression nothing but defeat. "I'm sorry. I f--" His eyelids closed before he could finish his sentence.

Rin started to scream for help, running around for anyone to hear her. Kagome stared at her, an arrow pointed in at the human girl. Rin turned around, getting backed into a corner. She had no lives left. "St-Stop..." Kagome told herself, not wanting to harm Rin. "Run!" She ordered. "Get out of here, Rin!" Kagome froze, seeing Inuyasha. "Inuyasha. Wake up!" She cast herself over the hanyo, shaking him. "Wake up, please!"

It seemed that Kagome had finally emerged from whatever external control she was under. However, by this time, it was far too late. Or was it....

As Kagome pointed the arrow at the young girl, a sudden bolt of light, sweeping Rin out of the way, and knocking the bow out of Kagome's hands. Before there very eyes was Sesshomaru, his eyes narrowed, and holding... Tensaiga. "Stand aside..." He seemed to sense that Kagome was back to herself, and wouldn't attempt to harm Rin again.

Kagome stayed hovered over Inuyasha's body. "Oh, yeah. Like I'm really gonna trust you around your brother. You have never really lifted a finger to help him. Why start now?" She gave Rin a guilty glance. The child stood next to her former master, shaking her head. "Kagome, he wants to help Inuyasha. Let him do it." Rin was half hidden behind Sesshomaru, and halfway peeking out from behind him. "I thought he threw Tenseiga away because of its connection to Tessaiga and his father." Still, she looked down at Inuyasha and groaned. "He's not d-dead, is he?" Kagome turned her head upward to the demon. "I didn't kill him, did I?"

Sesshomaru strode forward, raising the Tensaiga. "He isn't quite dead... but his life is fading..." Sesshomaru remarked. He would never, ever admit it, but Sesshomaru did protect his younger brother when need be. Having forgotten the old feud about Tessaiga upon acquiring Bakusaiga, Sesshomaru had no reason to be hostile to Inuyasha anymore. As well, Dakuemoshon was an old enemy of their father, and the daiyokai would like nothing more than to slay him. He paused in front of his hanyo brother... before bringing the Tensaiga slashing down upon the figure. The arrow pinning him there vanished, and his wounds had healed.

His eyes had begun to open...

"Ha! I knew you weren't going to leave me!" Honestly, Kagome would have strangled Inuyasha if that thought ever came up. Moving toward the two demons from where she had taken Rin (to the closest tree), Kagome, if he would let her, would have kissed Sesshomaru. "Thank you so much, Bi-Sesshomaru." She was careful not to call him 'Big Brother'. She didn't want to push it. "You've no idea how grateful I am." She turned around and kissed Inuyasha. "I know you wouldn't have done it. I'm sorry for what I did."

Inuyasha seemed to slowly understand what was going on, seeing as Sesshomaru had his tensaiga out, and Kagome seemed thoroughly relieved. She was back to normal... and oddly enough, he felt much better. Dakuemoshon's corruption had been pushed out with the arrow. It seemed that the chaotic demon had expected Inuyasha to die from this, and thus, the corruption no longer remained... As for the daiyokai, Sesshomaru didn't remain to see the pair of them reconcile. Inuyasha gave him a curt nod, silently thanking Sesshomaru for what he had done.

He pulled Kagome into his arms, kissing her back. "I'm sorry for falling for Dakuemoshon's trick. I won't ever leave you again..." He breathed. As he stood, he lifted her in his arms. "Dakuemoshon's influence is finally gone..." The hanyo gave a faint smile, though remembered what she had said earlier, while possessed. Even though she wasn't in control of herself... did she really want to get married, and start a family?

Rin waved goodbye to her friend and practically skipped back toward her village. "So, does that mean that this Dakuemoshon demon let go for now?" She stopped as soon as they reached home. "I think so, but we can't be sure, Rin." She watched as Rin hardly listened, headed toward Kaede's place. Kagome stopped. Inuyasha's affection was a little strange to Kagome, to be honest. However, the kissing, she could get used to. "Yes, but, for how long, Inuyasha?" The miko was never really a scared person, but, this time, she was mortified, and wanted to avoid the subject that Inuyasha seemed to be thinking of.

"Only time will tell, but I think his control is pretty much outta me, at least for now." Inuyasha, on the other hand, seemed to be trying to pursue the subject. However, he began to look rather nervous at the thought. "Kagome... while you were possessed... you mentioned, uh, wanting to get married and start a family..." He didn't really know how to continue his statement, so he simply waited for her to say something else.

Kagome shook her ebony hair. "That wasn't me, Inuyasha." She blatantly lied in front of him, messing with her skirt, just for something to do. "That was the possession talking, ya know." Clearly, from the tone in her cheeks, it wasn't just the possession talking. "I mean, we kinda already have one, with Miroku, Shippo and Sango, then we've got the twins, and Kohaku, so, we don't need much more, do we?" This made her blush even more. "It was only possession." Perhaps saying it again would help her believe it.

"Uh, yeah, you're probably right," Inuyasha said, glancing away for a moment. They did technically have a family already, still though... "Odd thing to say while possessed though, but whatever." Unfortunately for the miko, when Inuyasha looked back at her, he noticed her blushing furiously. He was curious, completely oblivious to the fact that she was doing so because she was lying about what she had said. "You're blushing..." He remarked.

Kagome whipped her hands away from her skirt. "Who? Me? No way!" She turned away, hoping that he wouldn't follow her. "You're crazy, Inuyasha. Like I would blush because of something I said while possessed." The miko waved it off. "Maybe you're just seeing things." She tugged at his bangs. "After all, you haven't ever had a hair cut. You might need one." Tugging a single strand from Inuyasha's head, Kagome walked away. "You're just stressed because of everything that happened."

"Quit trying to fool me, there's something up, and you know it," He retorted, his voice now snarky once more. A faint trace of a smirk crept onto his face. Stubbornly, he did follow after her. "It's true, isn't it? You DID mean what you said when you were possessed, that's why you were blushing!" However, as he did so, he himself began to turn red. If what she said was true...

"Just drop it, Inuyasha." Kagome bent over and picked up a stick from the ground by her feet. Turning on her heel, the miko concealed her own smirk. She waved the piece of wood in front of Inuyasha's nose. "Hey, how about a little game of fetch?" She brought the stick back to her cheek and cast it forward, into the bushes. "Go get it, boy!" She laughed, hoping that Inuyasha would go after the stick while she went back to the village, alone. "Go get it!"
