The Hanyo and the Miko

Now Kagome knew that Inuyasha wasn't right in the head. She even went so far as to feel the hanyo's forehead for any sign of a fever. "He's not warm." She stared into his eyes, holding his hand. "It looks like Inuyasha." The miko squeezed his fingers. "It feels like him too." When she sniffed him, Kagome smelled Dakuemoshon all over him. "Unfortunately..." she pinched her nose. "It smells like him too." The black haired female could only gag. "Yeah. Let's go home and get you bathed."

"What the heck are you doing? Why are you acting so weird, it's me!" He stated, looking rather suspicious. With his free hand, he pulled the Tessaiga from the ground, sheathing it once more. "Alright, let's go..." At that, he lead the way out of Dakuemoshon's castle, feeling happier than he had in a long time. Dakuemoshon was gone, Inuyasha wouldn't be transformed forcefully anymore, and at the moment, everything seemed fine. What could possibly go wrong?

The answer stood atop the vast structure, his form a blur... as though he was vibrating. For a moment his eyes gleamed red... but a moment later, he had vanished, leaving no trace that he had ever been there.

But that was a story for another time, perhaps...

The group left the castle laughing at Kagome teasing Inuyasha. "Well, I thought you'd still be acting like your normal self." Kagome smiled, kissing Inuyasha to distract him from Shippo making kissy faces. "Yeah. I remember when you two couldn't get along with each other and now you can't keep away from each other." The fox laughed at his own joke. Kagome gently pulled Inuyasha away before he could get to Shippo. "You really do need a bath."

Inuyasha had only halfheartedly attempted to get to Shippo this time around, for evident reasons. "I don't!" Inuyasha retorted, stubbornly. However, he didn't put up much of an argument, as he was rather exhausted. Luckily, Kaede's village was coming into focus. He could bathe, and then get some rest. A well deserved rest, mind you.

Once home, Kagome let Inuyasha handle his personal hygiene issues while she stayed on the opposite side of the village, handling herbs. "Well, I'm glad that's over, but...what about Minori?" For some reason, Kagome couldn't stop thinking about the girl she met on the river. The miko found herself searching the trees for her, then shaking her head, returning to her work. "Inuyasha, what do you think she's gonna do now?" Kagome asked, coming back inside their abandoned hut.

Inuyasha, looking fresher and cleaner than before, frowned slightly. "Dunno... it's like Miroku said, ain't it? Without Dakuemoshon around, who knows what she'll be doing now? Shes free from serving him... but for all we know she'll be back to avenge him. Only time will tell, but there's no point in worrying about it now," He replied, slumping down against a wall. That was something that had been on his mind as well... what would Minori do next?

"You're right." Kagome's stomach growled, but she ignored it, just glad that Inuyasha was still here with her. "Anyway, I think it would be best for you to take it easy for a while. While you do that, I'm going to be around here, helping the village recover from Dakuemoshon's attack." Without letting Inuyasha argue, the miko ran to the nearest hut that needed help. Minori ran into a cave and burst into tears. She was all alone now.

(I'll probably bring my future villainous character around to meet Minori soon)

"Hold on Kago--" But, it appeared that the miko had already run off to go help more villagers. Inuyasha couldn't help but give a small smile as she did so. Taking her advice, the hanyo laid down, finally getting some well-deserved rest. Tomorrow, once he was all rested up, he'd spend some more time with her, which he had been intending to do earlier [before she had gotten kidnapped by Minori, the whole battle and whatnot]. Sighing, Inuyasha fell asleep...

(Wanna timeskip?)

(Sure)

Weeks pass, and, as Inuyasha healed, Kagome had long since put the thought of marriage and families behind her. Instead, she resumed coming in and out of the Feudal Era after extended periods of time just to keep her family updated. How could her mom be so cool as to allow Kagome to go hundreds of years in the past with demons? This time, Kagome was attempting to sneak in. "The coast is clear." She hauled her bag over the wall of the well and hurried to catch up with Sango and Miroku. "Hi, guys." Kagome greeted. "Wow! The twins are getting big." She commented. Sango laughed. "Yes, they are. Shippo just left for another exam." The demon slayer informed her. "Really? Another one?" Kagome thought that was a little too much. Sango nodded. "I haven't seen Inuyasha. I assumed he was waiting at the well."

[Darn, nu marriage xD )

"As did I. He comes up here constantly..." Miroku suddenly put his hand on his forehead, apparently realizing something. "Of course, how could I not have remembered... Tonight must be the night of a new moon. Inuyasha must have gone some distance away from the village," The monk remarked. "Bout time you figured that out..." said a familiarly snarky voice from not far away, hidden in the trees. It appeared Miroku's guess had been correct, as Inuyasha looked fairly anxious. Even surrounded by people he trusted with his life, it was always fairly uncomfortable when he had to transform into a human.

Kagome sighed. "Inuyasha, come on down." She walked toward the tree he was perched on to get a better view. "I just have one question: how did you get up there in this form?" She couldn't recall him being able to climb trees as a human. "You aren't the best climber like this." Now standing directly below Inuyasha, she smiled at him. "It's great to see you. I'm sorry I've been gone so long. I didn't think you needed me back until...now you're mad at me, aren't you?" The miko added, noticing how ticked off Inuyasha appeared.

"Look, I jumped up here right before I transformed..." Inuyasha looked indignant, but he gradually made his way down from the tree. It seemed Kagome was correct, as Inuyasha nearly slipped as he came onto the ground. At last, he stood directly in front of the miko, folding his arms. "Darnit, Kagome, how many of those exam demons do you have left..." His distinctively golden eyes had become blue, and his normally silver hair jet black. Sighing, he added, "I ain't mad, okay?"

Kagome should have considered that fact, yes. After all, Inuyasha did hang out in trees a lot. "And, you've been hanging out there the whole time?" Her eyes widened in astonishment. "Well, why does it matter how many more I have left? Dakuemoshon is gone. I don't need to be here as often." The female waited for Inuyasha to explode. Then, he said he wasn't mad and this eased her mind. "I guess we still have to watch out for Minori, but I don't see her as a threat. After all, she was only acting on Dakuemoshon's orders."

"Yeah but who know's what will come after Dakuemoshon? And while Minori hasn't attacked or anything... I dunno... something about this just seems weird. I know she might be finding her own path now, but I at least expected to make an appearance already..." Inuyasha said, honestly. However, there wasn't much he could do to prove his suspicions while in his human form. "Look, you guys can go ahead back to the village if you want, I'll be over there by dawn..." By dawn, Inuyasha meant when he transformed back into his hanyo form, and regained his demonic powers.

"Ha!" Kagome scoffed. "You must think I'm an idiot if you believe I'm leaving you like this." She proved her point by stomping her foot into the ground. "There's no way. You can't protect yourself like this and the sheath can only put up minimal protection." Searching her bag, Kagome pulled out a blanket and wrapped herself up. "It's gonna be cold tonight, but I'm not leaving you out here defenseless."

"You're gonna freeze to death out here, Kagome, just head on over to the village, I can take care of myself," He argued, leaning against the tree he had just climbed out of. He partly didn't mind the fact that Kagome was staying, grateful that someone would be here. On the contrary, he cared more about her well-being than himself.

"I'm not going to die from a little cold and I won't get sick from a little snow." Kagome wasn't moving from that spot without her lover. "You won't be able to fight anyone if you get attacked like this. There is no way that I'm going to leave without you." She grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the village.

"Let go of me, I ain't going back to the village yet!" Inuyasha attempted to pull his hand away from her, indignantly. Meanwhile, Miroku merely watched alongside Sango, looking fairly sheepish. "I told ya, I can take care of myself for one night, head back to the village."

"And I told you that I'm not leaving you!" She had half a mind to put the dog on a leash. "So, either I stay while you're here or you come with me now! You can't really fight me like this anyway." She wasn't having this not going back. Whether Inuyasha was human or not, he was still in danger, because everyone knew about the half demon brat with the invincible fang. "Come on, Inuyasha! Now!"

Seeing that there was no way to convince Kagome otherwise, Inuyasha finally decided to accompany his lover back to the village, albeit being fairly uncomfortable about it. However, he cared for Kagome's well being greatly, and he'd rather her stay in a warm hut than out here in the cold. "Alright, fine, I'll go back to the village!" He stated, irritably.

"I'm glad you see it my way, Inuyasha." Kagome sneered. Sango sighed in irritation. "I don't know why you even bother arguing with her. You know you'll lose." With one baby in each basket over her shoulder, the female walked ahead. "Why would you want to be alone like this? If you were attacked, you don't even have your claws to protect you. It seems like a pretty sad way to repay your parents for protecting you if you just practically go looking for trouble. At least, with us here, you can get through each cycle without feeling so alone." Kagome hated that Inuyasha shut himself away and shut other people out all the time.

"HA, shows what you know. I don't see it your way. I protected myself just fine every I transformed before I was pinned to a tree 53 years ago, so being alone without my power ain't new to me," Inuyasha retorted, haughtily. After the mention of his parents, he seemed particularly snarky. It had always been a fairly sore subject... well, in the case of his mother anyway. "Believe it or not, I--"

"Give it a rest Inuyasha..." Miroku interrupted, nodding his head in exasperation. Inuyasha glowered, folding his arms. It was astonishing how childlike the hanyo's mannerisms were at times...

Kagome wanted to let Inuyasha soak in his own behavior for a while. "Well, you can just go back to that tree for all I care. If you want to be alone so badly, I don't care. Let's go, Miroku. Inuyasha doesn't seem to need us!" She grabbed the monk by his wrist and pulled him along. "I hope you aren't giving Sango a hard time. At least you guys aren't always arguing."

"You think after all that I'm just gonna walk right back? Sure you don't care, that's why you wasted time trying to convince me to come back! What's your deal Kagome, why're you being so stupid?" Miroku sighed. He was quite surprised that Kagome hadn't yelled a certain command already. Honestly, these two were crazy. One moment they can't get away from each other, the next they're arguing their heads off, and then they're back to being all affectionate again. The cycle seemed to repeat itself more times than Inuyasha's Demon/Human cycle.

"Stupid?" She spoke as softly as a mouse. "Stupid! YOU'RE CALLING ME STUPID?!? IF I'M SO STUPID, WHY DO YOU ARGUE WITH ME WHEN I GO TO OR COME FROM MY TIME!?! WHY DO YOU GO BACK TO GET ME?! SHUT UP AND SIT! SIT BOY! SIT BOY! SIT BOY! SIT BOY! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT BOY!" Kagome clenched her fists, shutting her eyes. "AS SOON AS YOU GET BACK UP, YOU CAN STAY AWAY FROM ME!" Kagome sprinted toward the village then shut herself inside the shelter she and Inuyasha were staying in, but wouldn't let the dog indoors.
