The Hanyo and the Miko

"Just Tell me Kago--" Inuyasha's dog-like instincts seemed to take over, briefly. He grinned joyously, chasing after the stick into the bushes. However, as usual, he came back to his senses the moment he got to the stick, realizing that it was just a joke. "Kagome, I told ya, quit treating me like a dog!" However, by that point, it seemed that Kagome was intending to head back to the village!

Kagome, who enjoyed teasing Inuyasha playfully, laughed. "Well, it's not my fault that you fell for it. You're a dog, but you're human too." She giggled at him, came back and took Inuyasha by the hand. "Come on. It was a joke. Maybe you need to relax." The miko led the hanyo to the village and kissed his cheek. "Hey, I'm glad you have a funny side."

The hanyo sighed, but he didn't seem too annoyed. Inuyasha seemed slightly apprehensive about returning to the village. However, to his surprise, not a single person insulted him, as they had done when he had left, initially. Their exasperation seemed to have burned out. "It's been a long day, I'm going to get some sleep..." He replied.

"Yeah." Kagome agreed, entering the same hut as him. "It'll be great when we have one of these to ourselves." Her hand trailed over the wall. "I'll admit that I never saw myself as a priestess hundreds of years back from my own time." She agreed with a sleepy sigh. "I never saw myself around demons." That being said, Kagome laid back against the wall and started falling asleep. "I saw myself graduating and getting ready for college and finding a job back in my time, but I don't regret meeting you or anyone else here." She subconsciously placed her hand on her belly. "Everything has changed so much since I met you at fifteen."

Inuyasha nodded in agreement, slumping against the wall as well. "Yeah... things have changed a lot." Inuyasha, in the beginning, despised Kagome because of her appearance being similar to Kikyo's. If anyone had told him that in three years, he and Kagome would be close like this, he would of said they were insane. Heck, if anyone had told him that he had friends like Miroku, Sango, and Shippo, he certainly wouldn't have believed them. But a lot had changed since the miko had freed him from the tree... and he couldn't say that he had expected these changes, but he was pleased with how everything turned out in the end...

Before the hanyo knew it, he had begun to fall asleep.

Kagome noticed this and leaned over, placing her hand over his and resting her head on his shoulder. "Goodnight, Inuyasha." She curled up into a ball and dozed off.

Throughout the night, Kagome started having nightmares of Dakuemoshon coming back and taking Inuyasha from her, turning him into his full demon form. "No! Leave him alone! Inuyasha, stop it! It's me! It's Kagome!" She shot up, sitting now, looking left and right. "It was just a dream." The miko whispered to herself. Behind her, the sun was rising. "Alright, I'll be back." She took a single arrow and started toward the river.

Inuyasha was still in a asleep when Kagome set out towards the river. The guy was apparently more tired then he was letting on. However, he turned once in his slumber, muttering something incomprehensible...

(Wasn't much to say, I'll probably have Dakuemoshon come back and do something soon)

While Kagome was fishing, she was constantly on the lookout for Dakuemoshon or the girl that so obviously served him. A female stood on the opposite side of the river, just staring at her. "Come on!" Kagome grumbled, stabbing the water with her arrows. "Having any luck?" The stranger giggled, to which Kagome shook her head, frustrated. "No." It was then that the other female caught her own fish and crossed the river to Kagome's side. "Here. Take mine." She insisted.

Inuyasha grunted, before finally awakening from his rest. He seemed a bit groggy, and wiping his eyes, he murmured, "K-Kagome?" Realizing she wasn't there, he simply took a peek outside of the hut. Her could smell her scent, near a river it seemed. "Now where'd she head off to..." He grumbled, setting out after her.

Kagome held her arrow at her side, noticing how the other girl was walking across the water. She's a demon. A water demon by the looks of her. Kagome stood, sizing this girl up. "Uh, no thanks. My friend will be looking for me." She turned on her heel and started walking away, but was grabbed by the other. "Lord Dakuemoshon will be pleased to see you, Priestess." As soon as Kagome started screaming, her energy began to get drained from her body. "Inu...yasha." she whispered, collapsing to her knees. The demon scooped her up, biting her lip in anger toward that name. She disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

Inuyasha had arrived just in time to see Kagome collapse from Dakuemoshon's minion. "Kagome!" He leapt forward, bringing his Tessaiga from its sheath. However, by that point, it was far too late. His lover had been taken. Inuyasha stabbed his sword into the ground, his fist clenched. "Dakuemoshon... YOU BASTARD! BRING HER BACK!" He bellowed. At that point, he had then begun punching the ground, cursing furiously...

Dakuemoshon stood at the foot of his castle, awaiting the arrival of the girl whom served him. Though it was hard to see in his true form, he appeared to be smirking, his red eyes gleaming. "Well done, well done indeed..."

Kagome was unconscious and therefore, was unable to move. The young demon, Minori, carried her up toward Dakuemoshon's castle. "Thank you, Master Dakuemoshon." She bowed, laying Kagome at his feet. "I live to serve you, sir. I owe you my life." This girl was also a half demon, angry at Inuyasha for murdering her father and mother years ago. "The hanyo barely missed us." Minori's eyes were shut. Kagome moved in her sleep.

The entire gang was now together, minus the twins, who were staying with Kaede. "Inuyasha, what happened?" Kohaku demanded of him. "Where is Kagome?" Sango added. "Inuyasha, where is she!?" Shippo grabbed Inuyasha's cheeks. "I thought I smelled that girl again!"

Inuyasha smacked Shippo off of him, his fangs bared. "Some demon, probably working for Dakuemoshon took Kagome." Inuyasha dropped to the ground, sniffing around the spot where Minori had vanished, like a dog. "I can't get a lead on her scent..." Miroku gripped his staff tightly, looking apprehensive.

"He will be reunited with his beloved soon enough... however, not quite in the way he would wish." Dakuemoshon kneeled beside the miko's body, placing his hand on her forehead... At once, black cords, like ropes, sprung around Kagome's body, trapping her. "Awaken, Miko..." He hissed.

Inuyasha's went rigid, suddenly. "Oh no... AGH! GET OUT OF.... HERE...." He roared. His claws began to lengthen, and his eyes became red. At the exact moment, what appeared to be a black and red portal appeared behind him. The now transformed Inuyasha leapt through it. It seemed that there was a trace of the corruption left inside of him after all...

(They can follow him if you want. It hasn't closed)

Minori watched in awe as Kagome turned to her side, coughing. "Oh, what's that smell?" She scrunched up her nose and looked toward her captors. "It's you!" Kagome stared up at Dakuemoshon's handsome face, scowling. Inuyasha, please stay away! Forget about me! Kagome knew Dakuemoshon would kill Inuyasha if they met again. "What do you want with me?"

The gang jumped in after the hanyo, all with weapons out. They all knew the risks of what was about to happen, especially Kohaku. He and Rin were out of chances. Just as the portal closed, Rin attempted to join her friends on their side, but Kohaku pushed her back. "Let's go, Kohaku!" Sango ordered, following the boys. Kohaku wasn't far behind.

"Minori, go and deal with our... visitors... I shall take care of the hanyo and the miko..." Dakuemoshon bended over next to Kagome, looking positively smug. "I? I simply want you to suffer, as all." Just as the chaotic demon had planned, the transformed Inuyasha had arrived mere meters away from them. However, surprisingly... Dakuemoshon simply forced him to revert to his regular self. It seemed that the demon had only transformed Inuyasha to bring him here. In a moment, Inuyasha's features had returned to their normal state.

"YOU BASTARD!" Inuyasha had taken a leap at the demon. However, in a moments notice, a sudden field of what appeared to be electricity had covered him. The half-demon collapsed in midair, a confused expression on his face. "Inuyasha!" Miroku yelled, looking pale. However, Inuyasha didn't seem to hear him. In fact, the hanyo didn't even seem aware of that anyone else was there... but he was muttering something to himself. Then, the field took effect. Inuyasha was suddenly on his knees, electricity crackling around him violently, howling in pain. Whatever Dakuemoshon had done, it was causing him intense suffering.

"I call it the Nexus of Suffering. Inuyasha is in his own world, trapped within his worst memories, experiencing utter agony. Soon, he will beg for death... and you'll be the one to grant his wish, priestess..."

"Yes, Master." Minori disappeared in a cloud of black smoke and appeared in front of the group. "Oh, I wouldn't worry about the dog, monk. He'll be well trained soon enough." She held her hand out, palm up, and a small flame appeared there, dancing over her hand. "As for you, I doubt you'll fare any better." She tossed the fireball, now the size of a basketball, at Miroku. Sango pushed her husband out of the way and threw the Hiraikotsu at Minori's fireball. It did nothing. "You idiot. I'm the only one that my fire obeys." Minori hissed lazily. "Yeah." Kagome spat at him, literally. "I'd like to see you make me, loser. Let me just tell you that you don't scare me. I had more fear around Naraku." She then brought her attention to Inuyasha, still tied up but continuing to try and make it toward him, on her knees. "Inuyasha! Wake up! Can you hear me?!" She crawled right up next to him, trying to be brave. "Look at me, Inuyasha!"

(Time to kill Dakuemoshon once and for all)

"You fool... you think that he--" Dakuemoshon was cut off mid-sentence as he was slashed across his 'face' by a pair of claws. Staggering backwards, the chaotic demon was astonished to see... Inuyasha himself, looking shaken by determined. "How... how did you free yourself?!" The evil individual demanded, the slashes already beginning to heal themselves. The hanyo had drawn his Tessaiga, after cutting Kagome free. "Trying to use my memories against me... you really are stupid. Thinking that you could use that against me... I would never let myself succumb to that," He had begun walking towards the daiyokai, his knuckles whitening due to his grip around his sword. "HA, you truly believe that your tessaiga will have any use against me? After I nearly killed you the last time?" Dakuemoshon mocked. However, it was the half-demon that smirked this time...

"You prey on anger... on hatred... emotions that people constantly have when they battle you. It's why no one could defeat you, until now. Because I'm not fighting you because I despise you... it's because I can't stand to see my friends hurt like this, because I could never forgive myself if you killed them..." He replied.

"Righteous fury? Is that what you intend to use? Pathetic. You are a mere puppet at this point, Inuyasha. As long my corruption is within you... I will always control you."

"Oh really?" The hanyo replied, scornfully. "Kagome... shoot me with an arrow! Hurry!" Dakuemoshon was already beginning to work his controlling abilities, to transform Inuyasha yet again...

Meanwhile, while Minori was distracted with Sango, Miroku had gone around, placing sutras on his staff, and attempted to slam it into the other Half-Demon's head.

Kagome always hated that suggestion. Shooting a half demon with a sacred arrow always made her feel uncomfortable, as if she was going to kill him if she did. "But, that's exactly what Dakuemoshon wants!" There was no way she would cry in front of Dakuemoshon, but Kagome definitely felt like she wanted to. If Inuyasha took any more of these arrows, he might not just be put into a trance! "What are you talking about, Inuyasha?!" She still did as she was told and knocked the arrow in place. "Are you sure about this?" Minori screamed in agony when a sutra touched her. She just kept screaming for her master's help.

Inuyasha was resisting as much as possible against the transformation, hence why it was taking much longer than usual. "DO IT!" He roared, his eyes red as blood. It was evident that he couldn't resist for much longer. He knew the risk of being shot in the back with a sacred arrow, he knew that if it was used upon him again, it might kill him. But this wasn't about him... and he had to defeat Dakuemoshon, now more than ever. The tessaiga had begun to emit a brilliantly golden aura, and was covered in green scales...

Dakuemoshon, however, was purely focused upon changing the hanyo, frustrated by the resistance. "You would sacrifice yourself to destroy me, Half-Demon?!" Rather than responding to Minori's cries for help, he merely continued attempting to break into the hanyo's mind, allowing his minion to be harmed by the sutras.

"Dragon scale Tessaiga?" Kagome whispered. "Alright! I hope you know what you're doing!" With a flick of her wrist, Kagome released her arrow into Inuyasha's back. "I'm sorry, Inuyasha." She whimpered, realizing what was certain to be his downfall. "I TOLD YOU THAT THIS WAS WHAT HE WANTED!" Minori wailed, her skin burning off. In reality, it wasn't her fault. She was lied to her entire time serving Dakuemoshon. "YOU PROMISED!"

Rather than reverting from his demonic form... Inuyasha's pupils became golden, like in his regular hanyo form, though his eyes remained scarlet, and the purple streaks remained across his face. He retained his extra power, and his sanity. However, the arrow was beginning to sink deeper. He had to do this swiftly. "Foolish boy... prepare to DIE!" Mounds of tendrils were fired at the half-demon, who slammed the Tessaiga directly into them. He had cut through Dakuemoshon's attack as easily as paper. With much effort, he slammed the dragon-scaled Tessaiga into the chaotic demon's head, cutting at his demon vortex.

"NO! Inuyasha, you... AGHHH!" Dakuemoshon had been surrounded by a vividly red aura, and begun to dissipate. Meanwhile, the arrow had begun to give Inuyasha a slightly pinkish tinge to his skin. He only had moments before he succumbed. However, before their vary eyes, the corruption demon had begun to vanish into oblivion, his pained cries echoing through the castle....

Collapsing to his knees, Inuyasha's sword clattered to the ground. "Take it... out...." He said, his voice barely more than a whisper.

Kagome didn't know what to do. On the one hand, she knew that she had to keep the arrow inside Inuyasha in order for him to keep from bleeding out, but on the other hand, she had to get it out to stop it from killing her mate! "Okay! Shippo! Kohaku! You pull it out! I have to keep him down and heal him!" She allowed the boys time to rush over. Once there, they started tugging. "Easy!" "Sorry, Kagome! You're the only one that can do it!" Kohaku told her. Instead, he held Inuyasha down while Kagome removed the arrow, quickly holding her hand over the open wound. "It's gonna be okay, Inuyasha. I promise." Kagome smiled down at him. "Tell me when you start to feel better."

As the arrow was removed from his back, Inuyasha grunted with pain. Two things appeared to occur: A sort of smoke-like cloud seemed to exit from Inuyasha's body, Dakuemoshon's corruption. And he reverted back to his normal self. However, he slowly began to regain his strength as his mate's abilities healed the wound. Miroku stood with his wife, looking anxious at Inuyasha's faint. Fortunately, it seemed Kagome had been just in time, as Inuyasha had begun to move once more, coughing thrice. "I'm alright... thank you, Kagome.... it's over. Dakuemoshon is done, for good." He took his lover's hand in his, gently, to assure her that he was fine.

Kagome fell on Inuyasha's bare chest. "I'm glad you're okay. Hey, if we didn't have guys like Dakuemoshon and Naraku, we'd get bored." There was a rustling behind them, making Kagome jump up in surprise. It was their enemy's young apprentice. She was shaking on the spot. "Wh-What have you done?!?" She was frozen in fear. What would she do now? "Minori, wait." Kagome pleaded, reaching out to the young demon. Minori growled and ran away. She'd destroy them for what they've done.

"Let her go, Kagome... Minori was being manipulated this whole time, and without Dakuemoshon, she'll have to find a new path. Hopefully it doesn't include seeking vengeance against us," Miroku said. Inuyasha's sympathy for the young-half demon was limited, however, because she had previously poisoned Shippo and kidnapped Kagome. Inuyasha warmly embraced Kagome, saying, "We should get going, back to the village." At that, he kissed his mate on the cheek, smiling.
