The Hanyo and the Miko

Inuyasha, however, persisted. "Look, we could at least go and check on Sango and Miroku. They probably had to stay up all night taking care of their twins." He mentally cursed himself for bringing up the possibility of them living in a home together out of the blue.

Kagome pouted again. "Well, fine. If that's what you want." She exited the hut and started walking toward their village. "Come on. We're not gonna get anywhere if you're staying here." She pulled up her sweater and kept walking. "It will be a real shame if a human beats you to a village, Inuyasha." She was trying to prove a point. They needed to be together and be on the same page. "I'll make you a deal. If you get there first, I'll stay in this era for longer than I expected. If I get there first, I'm going home." She bluffed.

Inuyasha looked surprised, though he recovered quickly, and a smirk played onto his lips. "What? You're trying to go home again!" It seemed that Kagome's bluff had worked, rather easily. The hanyo leapt to his feet, and began darting towards Sango and Miroku's village, seemingly flying past Kagome with his demonic speed. "There's no way I'm letting you go back just yet, Kagome!" He yelled. He had no intentions of letting her go back, entirely unknowing of the fact that she wasn't going to go back anyway, not yet at least.

"Hey! Inuyasha!" She darted after him, but was in no way going to catch up like this. "Oh, okay, Inuyasha. I guess I'll just go find Koga." The female knew that this would send the boy back toward her. "I know where his tribe is hiding out now." An even wider smirk played on her lips. "I guess you'll just have to SIT this one out!" She began her journey.

(Even to a guy like me... that's cold, xD )

"Wha--" As if Kagome's sudden mention of Koga wasn't enough, Inuyasha had been struck by the sudden sit-command. He yelled as he was sent smashing down, face first into the ground, this time basically burying himself in the ground. It took him a bit longer to get back to his feet, as he was aching with pain. "Kagome... what... WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT FOR?!" He bellowed. First she says that she is going to go find that wolf, and then she sits him!

He had lost sight of her, but he still had her scent. And his vexation was beginning to overcome the pain. Staggering slightly, Inuyasha made a huge leap in her direction, his sudden burst of adrenaline enabling him to keep up. "What do you mean you're going to find that scrawny wolf!" He shouted.

Kagome now knew that she was abusing her power, but Inuyasha wasn't going to kill her for that. "Oh, come on, Inuyasha. You had your demon power that helped you and I had the Subjugation beads helping me." They both had things that were aiding them. "I just thought it would be nice to visit him for a minute. We haven't seen him for a long time." As if nothing had happened, she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Carry me. We'll go see him later. You have no reason to be jealous now. He's married." She paused, knowing that she had hurt Inuyasha. "I'm sorry, Inuyasha." She kissed his cheek. "Please don't be mad. I love you."

"My demonic powers didn't injure you! That hurt!" Inuyasha growled, landing gently in front of Kagome. It was quite obvious that he was still mad. The painful sit command and Koga was quite enough to incense him. However, the good thing about Inuyasha's temper was that he didn't stay flared up for too long. He usually calmed down to a more grumpy state, before finally returning to normal once more. The hanyo took a deep intake of breath as Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck, obliging to her request to carry her. He seemed to be slightly appeased as she apologized, and his face went red when she said that she loved him.

"I love you too..." He replied, taking a leap into the air, Kagome on his back. "And by the way, I'm not jealous!" He chided, grumpily. However, he had never been the best liar...

Kagome knew that too. "Uh huh, sure." She giggled, pulling herself up. "You know, it's okay to admit it. After all, I can admit that I was jealous of Kikyo." Her eyes lit up as they flew through the trees. "So, why are we going to check on Miroku and Sango again? Are you wanting to babysit?" This would have been fun, if Inuyasha didn't get so impatient and frustrated with babies so easily; and, there were two, now! "It must be nice to have a home and a family." She admitted. "Hey, can I ask you something? Speaking of family, have you ever thought of going back to where you grew up?"

"I'm not jealous!" Inuyasha repeated, stubbornly. He had far too much pride to admit such a thing. Regardless, Inuyasha had indeed felt a bit of anxiety whenever Koga came into the picture. Not only because he was highly protective of Kagome, but because he subconsciously dreaded ever losing her to Koga. He could see Miroku and Sango's village in the distance. "Of course I don't want to babysit, I just want to see if they're doing alright. Hopefully they managed to get a little rest," He replied. As little patience as he had with babies, he somewhat agreed with Kagome...

He gave Kagome a slightly wary look at her new question, responding with a simple, "No." After his mother died, Inuyasha had left the village he had grown up in, with an intense hatred of the other humans in it. He never told any of his friends this, however. As a matter of fact, he rarely revealed any details about his past...

"Hey, Kagome... what I said earlier, about staying in one village instead of traveling, I was thinking that maybe staying in one place for a while would help me adjust to living with humans again, get what I mean?" He made no mention of his other notion, about himself and Kagome possibly living somewhere together.... it made things a bit complicated. It wasn't as though they were... married, like Miroku and Sango were.

Kagome decided not to push the jealousy thing any further. She didn't want to upset Inuyasha anymore today. "Inuyasha, I'm glad to hear you say that. As much as I love being around you, sleeping in trees or on the ground isn't very comfortable." Yes, Kagome would definitely stay much longer if she actually knew where she'd be laying her head at night. "I'm not normally one to complain, but aren't you hungry? I'm starved! We forgot breakfast!" Suddenly, Myoga appeared. "You won't believe it, Master! Shippo got attacked by a little girl!" He was laughing. "We already took care of it, Myoga." Kagome chimed in, stomach growling. The flea looked dumbfounded. "Really? Master, did you catch the culprit?"

Inuyasha had opened his mouth to say something, but the appearance of Myoga distracted him from the discussion. "Well well well, long time no see, Myoga," Inuyasha said, landing in the middle of the village. "And no, we haven't got the little girl yet, but I suppose it's not all that important, right now anyway. If she attacks again, we'll have to catch her," Inuyasha said. His stomach grumbled. He had forgotten that he hadn't eaten any breakfast, and didn't realize how hungry he had been. "Let's get some food from the villagers," He said, setting Kagome down.

(I'm thinking of having Inuyasha go through his moonless-night human transformation, soon)

Kagome climbed down and nodded, feeling a pinch on her neck. "Hey!" She slapped the flea. "You! I never said that you could just go ahead! What do I look like to you!?" She held onto Myoga. "Get out of here!" She huffed, turning around and walking further into the village. "There's no need to ask the people for food. Miroku's conned enough off of them to spare. Even if he's got a family now, he's still a stubborn thief." She walked right up to their hut. "Good morning." She smiled at them, then turned away when she saw Sango feeding her daughters. "Miroku, how much did you manage to steal this time?"

Judging by the way Inuyasha was sniffing excitedly, literally like a hungry dog, Miroku must have had quite a bit of food to spare. "Steal? I think that's a bit strong, Kagome. I prefer 'appropriated'," Miroku chided, pointing to one of the rooms. Indeed he had taken quite a bit of food, as there was more or less a lavish amount of sustenance on the tables. "Great!" Inuyasha bounded towards the extra room, his eyes lighting up immediately. "We didn't quite get to talk much between your brief visit here, and the birth of the twins. How are you, Kagome?" Miroku asked.

Kagome could have easily given the sit command, due to the fact that Inuyasha was being increasingly rude and hadn't greeted their friends appropriately before digging in. "I'm fine, Miroku. Thank you. How are you?" She hugged the monk, then let go. "Inuyasha, before you stuff your face, why don't you come in here and say 'hi' to your friends?" She held a baby. "They're so beautiful, you guys." "Thank you." Sango smiled softly.

Inuyasha paused, just as he was about to begin stuffing his face with food. "Oh, hey Miroku, Sango," He said, absentmindedly. His hunger overcoming his manners, the hanyo resumed devouring the extra food in the room, to the amusement of Miroku. "Didn't get much sleep last night, but it was all worth it," He remarked, warmly glancing at his wife and children.

As Sango adjusted her dress, she smiled at her husband. "Well, we have to get used to it. It'll be like that for the first year, more or less." She smiled at Inuyasha, though she was still speaking to Miroku. "Just think of how bad it would be if all the women you spoke to gave you a child." A smirk played on her lips. "Having children by multiple mothers isn't something I'd like to put up with." She took her gaze from the hanyo. "So, Inuyasha, did you get her to stay?" She leaned against her husband.

Miroku flashed a nervous smile, laughing. "Yeah... that would be pretty bad, I suppose," Miroku replied, his arm snaking around Sango. Meanwhile, Inuyasha was still going through food like a ravenous wolf. He lifted his head as Sango asked him a question. "Huh? Oh yeah, shes gonna be staying for a bit longer..." He remarked, casting a slightly suspicious look at Kagome. Though he had forgiven her of course, he still remembered the trick she pulled earlier...

Kagome hadn't even grabbed a bowl yet. She kept her eyes on the half demon. "Inuyasha, would you please slow down? You don't have any manners whatsoever as far as a meal goes." She sneezed. "I haven't had a bowl yet." She began to eat, constantly turning around to sneeze. "Kagome, are you alright?" Sango asked cautiously. "Oh. Yeah." Kagome sneezed again. "It was just cold last night. It's almost winter, right?" She looked at Sango, who nodded.

A warm, blood red cloaked was draped around Kagome's shoulders. Inuyasha, it seemed, had finally got his fill of food, and was looking at the miko with a defiantly concerned expression. "You shouldn't keep going around in that kimono, you'll catch a cold," He spoke, before walking back into the other room. Miroku's eyebrows were raised, and he had a curious expression on his face. "So... I assume you did a bit more than simply convincing her to stay?" The monk asked. However, he was quelled with a furious look from the Hanyo. "What? I was only curious," Miroku laughed.

Kagome bit her lip as she grabbed the cloak. He really wants me to stay? Kagome considered staying with Inuyasha so often that she was talking it over with her mom almost daily. Mrs. Higurashi agreed that the two should be spending more time together. Holding the fire rat cloth together, she walked back out and sat next to Inuyasha. "Thank you." Kagome smiled at him. "I've been thinking about what you said and I'd like to stay with you if you got a hut here." Her eyes lit up.

Inuyasha looked simply astounded, as did Miroku, who's suspicions appeared to have been confirmed. "You would?" Inuyasha asked. He hadn't expected Kagome to bring up his earlier statement.. and actually accept the offer to stay with him in case he found a hut. Inuyasha smiled, nothing less than mirth in his golden eyes. "Well... this is.... uh...." Miroku stammered. Inuyaasha briefly gazed into Kagome's eyes, before pulling her into his arms.

(Gonna introduce villainous character on next page, probably)

Kagome didn't have time to react before she ended up practically on Inuyasha's lap. "Inuyasha, what are you doing?" With her hands on the hanyo's shirt, Kagome watched him. "You never acted like this before. Do you really want me to stay?" She already knew the answer, but wanted to be sure.

(I'm afraid of delving too deep and losing Inuyasha's nature. I gotta remember to be more brash)

"Course I want you to stay!" He said, quietly. It took him a moment to realize that he was being a bit sentimental. Quickly letting go of Kagome, Inuyasha presumptuously added, "You were gone so long I had thought you weren't coming back..."

Kagome knew that there was something wrong with the mutt. "Yeah, I thought something was wrong with you! I thought you were running a fever for how weird you were acting! What are you talking about? I was just gone for more or less a few hours! It wasn't even a day!" She clenched her fist realizing that the old Inuyasha was back again. "You're absolutely impossible!" She turned around and started sneezing again. "Oh, great! Now you got me worked up again!" She kept sneezing as she shot out of his lap. "You're the one who was acting funny! What's wrong with you?! You pulled me toward you!"

Miroku sighed, shaking his head with slight disappointment. "I knew it was a little too good to be true..." He murmured, turning his gaze back towards the bickering duo. Inuyasha got over his initially surprise, a look of utter vexation upon his face."I wasn't talking about EARLIER, stupid, I was talking about the three years!" He growled, leaping up onto his feet. "It's not my fault you got worked up over nothin!"

(Introducing demon next)
