The Hanyo and the Miko

Inuyasha growled at the cat in return, until he saw Kagome get up. He followed behind her, his temper already beginning to boil once again. "Because I need you there, Kagome!" He interjected, before he could stop himself. He only just realized what he had said, but didn't care to take it back. "Naraku, the jewel shards, none of that matters anymore! I want you there because I..." He faltered, sighing. This time he looked Kagome straight in the eye. If there was ever a good time, it was now...

When he spoke again, his voice was lower, softer. "Because I don't want to spend another moment without you by my side, Kagome... I can't lose you again... not after you just came back..." The Hanyo gently took Kagome's hand in his. "I can't force you to come back... not if you really want to stay here... But I... I want you to..."

Kagome could have sworn that she was hearing things. "Inuyasha." This was a side to the hanyou that Kagome hardly ever saw. "Alright, I'll come back with you as long as you promise me not to get so upset about the smallest things like me wanting to go home." She squeezed his hand. "I missed you too, if you want honesty." Just then, Kagome found herself hugging the older boy. "I have to do the things that Kikyo used to do and you know that. Kaede needs me and I don't have a sword that I can wave around and everyone is healed." She started to giggle.

Inuyasha wrapped her in his embrace, giving his beloved a small, relieved smile. He hoped that his face hadn't gone red, though more than likely it had. "Yeah, we can't all have a sword like Sesshomaru," He said, absentmindedly. Words couldn't describe how happy he was about her answer. "I promise. And I shouldn't of gotten angry with you earlier, you were just helping Kaede out..." Slowly, Inuyasha leaned in towards Kagome... as though he was about to... kiss her.

Kagome's cheeks turned to tomatoes at Inuyasha's actions. With her forearms pressed up against the fire rat robe, Kagome closed her eyes and waited for the impact of their lips meeting. Sota cleared his throat. "Uh, kids are in the area." Kagome tightened her grip, opening her eyes and resting her head on Inuyasha's chest. "Then why don't you go inside?" "I don't have anywhere to be, really." Sota laughed.

Inuyasha seemed to be momentarily at a loss for words. His face was bright red and burning. "Uh... we should probably get going soon," He said. Almost.... Still, Kagome had forgiven him, that was what mattered, right? At last, he finally released Kagome from his embrace, turning towards the well.

(Gtg, I'll be back later)

Kagome turned around and waved goodbye to her brother, then took Inuyasha by the hand and smiled at him. "Well, looks like this is it. Don't wait up!" She put her feet up and over the side, then jumped in. He wanted...to kiss...me. Kagome traced her lips with her finger, blushing as she saw Inuyasha out of the corner of her eye.

It was always a fairly enjoyable experience, being transported through the eras. Their surroundings would turn vivid blue, almost as if they were falling through the ocean, yet could breath. However, when it ended, they were back in the feudal era. With a mighty leap, he pulled himself and Kagome out of the well. "So now what? We going back to see Miroku and Sango?" Inuyasha asked, his voice now resuming its gruff tone.

Kagome smiled at him. "Sure, why not?" She started walking in that direction. "So, uh...what were you saying back before Sota interrupted back home?" Kagome already knew, but she wanted to hear Inuyasha say it. "Kagome, you're back!" A high, partially squeaky voice greeted the two, until the young fox wrapped his arms around her neck. "Shippo!" Kagome smiled and hugged him back.

"Uh... well...." Inuyasha had begun scratching his head, about to answer Kagome, when he heard Shippo's voice. "Hey, Shippo. Been a while, where have you been?" Inuyasha said, plainly. He assumed that the young fox demon was still training to become a strong fox demon, and has passed one of those fox magic test.

"Well, I've been waiting on you guys to come back." The fox smiled at him. "Why'd you go back so soon, Kagome?" He smirks at Inuyasha. "What did you do this time, Inuyasha?" He quickly ducked before the hanyo could take a swing at him. "Nothing happened that could possibly keep me from coming back here, you guys." She was still fighting back frustration because of Inuyasha's failure to kiss her.

"Yeah, so keep quiet, Shippo!" Inuyasha said, threateningly. It was quite a smart move for Shippo to duck, as Inuyasha had made a quick attempt to connect with a punch. He clenched his fist, as though itching to give Shippo a few blows to the head. The fact that he hadn't managed to kiss Kagome lingered at the back of his mind, and if anything, it just enhanced his desire to hit something.

"Kagome, s-sit him!" The kitsune pleaded, shivering. Kagome shook her ebony locks. "Not today. Well, I already did today and well, that's something that made me want to go home." She carried Shippo, protecting him. "Did I interrupt something? Inuyasha seems to be in a worse mood than normal." Shippo asked them both. Kagome sighed. "It's nothing." At that, Shippo jumped down. "Well, I'm gonna leave you two alone then." He chuckled softly, making kissy faces as he disappeared in the bushes.

"Get back here, Shippo you little runt!" Inuyasha thundered. However, it seemed that Shippo had already disappeared. The Hanyo folded his arms, looking exasperated. "One of these days..." He murmured. As he turned to Kagome, however, his annoyance seemed to lessen to an extent. "We should get going," He sighed.

"Yeah." Kagome agreed, following after Inuyasha. "Listen, I think I should apologize for all of this." She was referring to her overemotional exit and staying away from the Feudal Era, even though it was such a short time. "So, I'm sorry for making such a big deal out of nothing." They were now back at Kaede's village. Rin came out. "Sango's having her baby!" She grabbed Kagome's hand. "Come on!"

"Kagome..." Inuyasha breathed, his voice adopting a low tone. "You don't have to apologize. Just... don't ever worry me by saying that you're never coming back again, alright?" He gave her a significant look, and his eyes had a soft look to them. As they arrived at Kaede's village, Inuyasha was surprised to see Rin rushing towards them. "Sango? Shes..." He merely stood there, bewildered.

"Hold on, Rin." Kagome told the young girl, looking toward the sky. She was sure Sesshomaru was around somewhere as long as Rin was staying here. She didn't see him. "Inuyasha, I have to go. I'm sorry." During these times, it was forbidden to have males in the same room as a woman in labor. Kagome kissed her...boyfriend once. "Bye!" She disappeared inside the home.

Inuyasha was taken aback, but he made haste to return the kiss, feeling much more jubilant than he had after he first failed to kiss Kagome. It was pleasant, and he was still slightly stunned after she vanished into the building. However, a familiarly impassive voice stirred him from his bliss.

"So that priestess has returned... I had assumed that she was gone, eternally..." standing mere feet from the Hanyo was his emotinonless full demon older brother, Sesshomaru. He carried a kimono in hand, more than likely another gift he was giving to his previous companion, Rin.

However, the humans, minus Miroku and Kohaku, of course, were outside with the not so close brothers. Kohaku didn't move for his weapon, having been around the demon lord long enough to know that he wasn't exactly looking for a fight. "Lord Sesshomaru, did you ever take Tenseiga back?" He knew that Rin gave Sesshomaru his sword back long ago, but, with the healing sword being 'useless', Sesshomaru had seen no need of it. On top of that, Kohaku wasn't looking for a fight nor witness one. Kagome and Rin joined Kaede and Sango inside and sat down. The younger priestess attempted to soothe Sango. "Rin, we need a tub of water." She told the child, who immediately went to fetch one. She took one from the corner of the room and brought it back, only to hear Sango scream.

As though he hadn't heard the young demon slayer's question, Sesshomaru strode up to him, handing him the kimono that he had intended to give to Rin. "Kohaku, give this to Rin when she is finished with her work..." Sesshomaru said, already heading in the other direction.

"Hold on, Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha began. However, the daiyokai had already taken off. Meanwhile, Inuyasha was getting slightly apprehensive of whatever was happening in the house. He had about as much knowledge of such things as a child.

"I wouldn't waste my breath if I were you, Inuyasha." Kohaku gently folded the kimono and waited for his sister to stop screaming. Both he and Miroku seemed to be having the same anxieties. "She's beautiful." Kagome handed the first baby over to Rin to wash off. Everyone thought that this was all the help Sango needed, but the demon slayer was still screaming, sweating and breathing as if each intake would be her last. Rin kept the first baby for a long time until the child's sister was born. Kagome helped Sango get dressed again. "Miroku, ye may come in now." Kaede told the father. "Ye may all come in." The elder added.

Inuyasha glanced nervously at Miroku as he went inside to see his newborn children, and how his wife was doing. Inuyasha was left outside, debating whether or not he should come in as well. Finally, he settled on going inside, if only to see the infants. Hesitantly, he walked inside to see them...

Kagome handed the second baby to Sango while Rin handed over the first one to her father. Kagome began washing her hands. "Miroku, they're both girls. Better watch out." The priestess winked at the monk, rejoining Inuyasha. "Well, this day just keeps getting better and better. Did I hear Sesshomaru?" Upon hearing her former protector's name, Rin's ears seemed to perk up. "What?" She saw her new kimono and smiled.

"Yeah, Sesshomaru came by. Dropped off another gift for Rin. Didn't talk much, as usual," Inuyasha explained. Miroku looked simply elated as he went over next to Sango, carrying the baby in his arms. Inuyasha, however, seemed to keep his distance. He had little to no experience with babies, of course.

Kagome sighed. "He could have come in and said something." She grasped Inuyasha's clawed hand. "Anyway, I'm glad I got here in time." The miko glanced lovingly at the happy couple. "You guys take it easy and slow down next time." She left the others behind. "Hm, what do you think, Inuyasha? Have you ever thought about having kids?" Realizing how awkward that sounded, she raised her hands up. "Not that it was on my mind or anything." Her cheeks may as well have been set on fire.

Inuyasha followed Kagome out of the building, privately agreeing with her previous statement. However, he looked bewildered as Kagome asked if he had thought about having kids. "Woah woah woah, kids?" He asked. Similarly to Kagome, his face began to turn red. "As in... with.... uh...." This seemed to be one of the few times that he was at a loss for words. "Well," He began, "I haven't really thought about it much, unlike Miroku. I don't really get it all, to be honest..."
