"I dunno, we'll have to see about that," Fish laughed, then motioned her head in the direction of the Harnesser with water flowing beneath her skin. "I feel like Little-Miss-Bottle-Burster will have a good chance once she calms down. She has some serious swimmer's shoulders, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was a professional before all of this." On that note, Fish was looking forward to interacting with more of her colleagues. Ribbon was pleasant and all, but there was considerably less moping going on now than at the start of the party, which meant more opportunities to branch out. She'd only talked to four of her teammates thus far, and two of them technically weren't capable of speech. "Just a sec," she said, hoping the teen wouldn't mind.

Fish took a slow spin, surveying the whole room, then returned her attention to Ribbon. "What d'ya think of mingling a little more? Things seem to have quieted down, other than the wasted girl on the dance floor."

Vampire

Vampire nodded and grinned sheepishly when Margaret asked her if she was trying to see if the Bullet gave her any other talents before taking the glass from her. "
Yeah..kinda was. Thanks, by the way." She told her. She shrugged when she told her to hold on before walking over to the Fox and drunk chick. Vampire watched the three curiously, it was pretty amusing to watch the drunk girl attempt to dance with the Kitsune after all. Though, Vampire couldn't say much. She wasn't much of a dancer herself, not that she'd ever bothered to learn, but that was aside the point.

Ribbon

Ribbon nodded and looked over at Aqua, she would be extremely useful. Especially if they were near a lot of water on a mission. She also made note of what she said about she thought Aqua used to swim a lot. It'd, ironically, fit her new powers just as good as Fishs'. "
You two would probably do great as a team." She told her as Fish looked around at the rest of the room.

She refrained from saying more momentarily at the request of Fish, curious as to what she was doing. Then it was made apparent by her asking her if she wanted to go mingle some more. "
Sure! That sounds like fun, especially now that people seem to of calmed down some more. Who do you wanna go meet first?" She told her, happily agreeing, as well as assuming she meant for them to go meet people together.

Fish took a moment to think before responding to Ribbon's questions. Visualizing the crowd she'd just seen, there were more Augmented than any other type of mutation, with Harnessers in second. However, she felt more drawn to her highly-mutated kin, the few Naturals in the room. She made up her mind, on that at least, but wanted to take Ribbon's opinion into account. The girl was too sweet for Fish to hurt her feelings by taking off on her own, so she decided to let the teen tag along without showing any reluctance. Ribbon was almost cloying compared to Fish's usual friends, but under the circumstances was good company.

"I'm feeling like meeting some of my fellow freaky-folk, but we can talk to someone a bit more, er, normal, if you want." Fish opened the decision up to discussion, not wanting to take too much authority despite her advanced age. She'd always thought that Maslow's hierarchy of needs was bullshit before she'd been diagnosed, some twentieth century quack's silly theory, but she'd realized soon after that being physiologically impaired really did impede personal growth. It wasn't until her five-year remission that she finally became a mature member of society, but she'd regressed once her cancer returned. It would take Fish some time before she felt like an adult again.

Ribbon

Ribbon looked at the crowd as well while she waited on Fish to comment. Everyone seemed nice, even the Naturals. They didn't really look that freaky, infact Ribbon thought it woulda been pretty damn cool if she had've gotten wings or turned part bear or something. Well...maybe not part bear.. But wings? Yea wings woulda been nice. She was honestly amazed at how well Fish was coping with her new body, but she figured it was probably better than dying from lung cancer.

"
Meeting some more of the Naturals would be cool. I'm curious to know if the ones with wings can actually fly too. Who do you wanna talk to first?" She told her excitedly.

Rook chuckled and made sure not to destroy every bone in Penny's body. He released the hold gently and gave a firm nod to the other woman. "Vex right? Joeb likes to complain about you a lot. He told us about Madagascar back in CI7, you really have quite the trigger finger huh?" he teased, moving to stuff his hands in his pockets before realizing that such an act would more than likely destroy his pants. He figured setting them on his hips would be good enough until he could ask for super-strong pant material, or something.

"So, we seem to be the only people here not mildly plastered or naturally low in brain cells. What an interesting phenomenon that is." he noticed, gazing about at the meandering drunkards that they were surrounded by. He hadn't seen any of Joeb all night, which was surprising considering the guy was always dressed for a party. He wondered for a moment what that guy could be doing, but knowing him it could be practically anything. He'd probably jump off a cliff to kill time.

The space seemed to be dimming, but Rook wasn't quite sure what to make of the place. It was calm, but not peaceful. Like everyone had given up on trying to drink their sorrows and focused on weeping silently. A morbid thought, admittedly. "So, this party....it uh....well it was a good idea on paper..."

@SniperBus @Daisy589816

Michael noticed the small wicked thought running through Aqua's head as she mentioned swimming, but left it alone for the time being. "Well, there's a pool, pretty sure it's olympic sized too. Were you even paying attention during the tour, or were you too busy plotting your own demise?" he asked, tapping his fingers on the table, a bad habit but one he'd never broken. His hand kept going for the hilt of the sword that wasn't there. He'd thought about going back to get it, but the bartender's revolver suggested that maybe he didn't REALLY need it that badly.

"Besides, drunk swimming is dangerous enough as it is. It's probably a lot more dangerous when you start waving your arms and the water follows you without you noticing it. I'd suggest a more sober state before you jump back into your favorite hobby." he explained, flipping the top off his thumb covering like a lighter, watching the bright white of his overcharged thumb blaze up and go out over and over again. He'd finished his drink already, and it looked like people were already starting to dim their own headlights. What an attempt, putting depressed and angry people into a room with alcohol and expecting a party to ensue.

@Kiroshiven

One could admit that though he tried his best to not crush the smaller girl with his hand, he still had an immaculate grip. She had never been this up close with a Natural. She kept her eyes trained between the floor as his eyes in a desperate attempt to now gawk at his skin. Her fascination with his structure would probably come off as a little discomforting. She allowed her eyes to trail up his arms for a brief moment, admiring the distinctive color and detail in awe. She quickly looked away and reclaimed her seat, scooting over as her eyes gestured to the seat across from her and back to him. She set her journal on the counter and pulled a deck of cards from her pocket.

Kit surveyed the room once more, getting a more careful look at the people in order to distinguish them from one another. Some did seem a little down, while others seemed to have been too piss-drunk to remember what they were doing there. So this was the team she was placed in. The way Rook described the others made it seem frightening. She cut them more slack than he did though. Who knew? Maybe this was their last chance to show much joy or sorrow. Everyone knew that once you were soldier, you were no longer entitled to having emotions. In this case, not even your own name. She wondered if it was possible for one to forget their own name when fighting a battle like this one.

Barbara Penn McCoy. Barbara Penn McCoy...

She quickly snapped out of it as she realized that her eyes were fluttering and that she was on the verge of panicking like before. No more of those thoughts, she declared in her head. A panic attack wouldn't be a great start to making friends, if this encounter got that far, at least. At her level of shrouded shyness, she highly doubted it.

"It sure as hell is a lot more depressing than I pictured it being. Some of us are just in our own heads. The rest of us are just out of our minds." she muttered. "Maybe we should do something a little different." She began to shuffle the deck, the cards flipping and moving so quickly and intricately that one couldn't even her fingers. "Either of you gamble by any chance?"

Lila/Lurid

"Miss...are you alright?" Echoed through Lila's head as she stumbled backwards, her vision not only blurry but spinning from the recent dance. "Al'righ? Nahs'ince t's foxmin drugged me, nah. Is'hu knck'm out's, wha'shu 'appen." Lila playfully elbowed him in the ribs, but in her inebriated state, she wouldn't be surprised if it was rather.. hard. He'sa gud dn'cer, tho. She smiled and swayed unsteadily, grabbing his arm for support. "..I'm going to have her sister over there help me get her to her bed..." Fox said, smiling. Lila playfully punched him on the arm, "Like'll yu are, foxmin. Tu mu' goin' on tah miss." Lila looked up at the Fox, a complacent smile on her face. "U'less yu ma'be w'nna come w'th me tu bed." She gave a none-to-gentle wink, gesturing towards her room.

Vex/Alyssa

Vex nodded as she caught the woman's name, sliding over to the booth so that one shoulder met the wall of the room and the other rested on the wall of the booth. She felt safer, that way. I'm too tired to irritate with ridiculous theory. I'll just go slow with normal conversation before I make them mad. Heh. "Vex right? Joeb likes to complain about you a lot. He told us about Madagascar back in CI7, you really have quite the trigger finger huh?" Vex's eyebrow twitched, just for a moment, and she slid her 300 pound death box closer towards her. "Listen, you- slavers deserve no damn easy time from me, right? They're lucky I lost control and blasted their asses to hell. They're lucky their parents had nothing to piss on at their funeral. They're fucking lucky I didn't have a nuke loaded into the barrel of my gun!" She stopped when she realized she'd started getting louder with each word. Her right hand was shaking, but she covered it with her left hand and gripped it firmly.

"Sorry. They weren't our targets, but when I realized who they were... They started dropping, one after the other, I didn't even know what I was doing." She rested her head back, sighing. "Being a walking bomb gets to me sometimes, you know?" She slid the eye-patch off of her left eye, stuffing it into her pocket. Vex looked at the new girl, saying, "I introduced myself as Alyssa earlier. I was wrong. Alyssa doesn't kill people- but Vex, Vex kills people." Afterwards, she held a steady gaze with her, looking into her eyes. "And Vex has a fucked up eye."

"You gamble by any chance?" Vex laughed for a moment, "Only if I can pay my debts in bullets and eyepatches."

Kit's eyebrows lowered slightly. That definitely escalated quickly. Her stare now fixed on Alyssa's eyes, she angled her head slightly to get a better look. "Fucked up" wasn't the way to describe it in her personal opinion, not that it mattered anyways. She smirked a little as her features quickly relaxed, chuckling lightly. She redirected her attention back to the deck and continued shuffling. She began to deal cards anyways, swiftly flicking each one in front of Rook and Vex then dealing her own. She set the remaining ones on the table.

She was never one to pry at anyone's past, especially not over such a difficult subject, but in the depths of her mind, she wanted to know what they were facing. She was probably one of the lucky ones at that subliminal pity-party/dread-fest. Her mother was sick, her brother was turning into a nut, her other brother was M.I.A., and she literally had to fight to support her family, but she never had to kill before. She had never even witnessed a death in person. This woman had to have been just as strong mentally as she was physically. Kit, on the other hand, had yet to learn as much as what she had learned.

"No payments required. We can play this round just for fun, Vex." she responded, assuming that Vex was indeed the person that she was talking to. Kit placed her cards neatly in front of her, each one faced down. Her eyes returned to Vex's. "Unless you have an interesting wager or bet to place."

She had frozen when the drunk girl had lurched forward and stroked her neck, and before she had come up with a decent comeback to the puberty comment a Kitsune straight from Japanese folklore had appeared and stolen her attentions away. Now that was a guy who embraced his new form. Perhaps she should follow his example and bit him. Jerk. Her grumblings were interrupted by a new voice.

''Hi, I'm the one in charge of keeping that one alive. Name's Lyra, they call me Saint. Don't know why, well I have ideas but that doesn't mean they make sense."

Chloe turned her head to look at the speaker and decided that perhaps today wasn’t a wash after all. Looks like drunk girl has a twin. It also seems this one is better at holding her drink. Chloe gave a smile and opened her mouth to introduce herself-

"So, what'd you do before shit went down? Sell drugs? Make a variety of snake-related puns? Upset the Serpent God Quetzalcoatl? Work with me here hot stuff you're not giving me much to go off of."

-and promptly let out a groan. She should have expected this. The jokes are never going to stop now are they? Well, at least Lyra didn’t seem put off by the scales or eyes. She could take some teasing.

"Hah, as if. I'm terrified of snakes, never went near one in my life. If there’s some sort of theme behind what powers we get then I think mine is fast reactions. I kinda slept through getting shot and all" Chloe hoped the other girl didn’t mind her bringing up the whole shooting and essential kidnapping thing, considering she was teasing her on her new appearance Chloe doubted it, but some people were strange.

As the bartender passed with a full glass in hand she decided to show off a little, lashing out with her hand she grabbed the glass and downed it in a fraction of a second, slamming the glass back on the table. "I'm Chloe by the way, in case you didn’t hear. They called me Lamia, for obvious reasons"

@TheLoneRook

Even through the ear muffs, Demon heard her. The woman that had started screaming about something. He didn't know what, but he pin-pointed exactly where the screaming was. He smashed his way through the wall hed built and in a bound wound up near the booth glaring down at Rook with three arms ready to smash the male into pieces. The thing that stopped him from going completely berserk was the click of a massive revolver being cocked. Demon glared over at the bar keep and had to do everything possible to keep his blood from boiling over and attacking. He looked to the two women in the booth. "Okay?" It wasn't much of a sentence, but it was all he could muster with his desire to kill Rook and the bartender bearing down on him at the moment.

@TheLoneRook @SniperBus @Daisy589816

Aqua laughed as Ignus mentioned drunken swimming. "Please. This power of mine has water pumping out of my body constantly. I seem to already be sobering up." She twirled her wrist and the water flowing over her tattoos moved just above it. She decided to test her capabilities at the moment and leaped off her chair. Before she landed, she swept her arm out and the water seemed to catch her in mid-flight. "Okay. This is kinda cool." She was starting to see the positive in her "gift", even if it wasn't much. She could really show off to her little brother when this war was over. "I may not like what I've become, but you're right about one thing Ignus. I'm going to get home and let someone special know that I'm doing what I can for him." The next few words she whispered so as to keep it to herself. "Neil, you behave for mom and dad and I'll be back before you know it." She smiled as she started to walk along the water that was keeping her a foot off the ground. She wanted to just get some practice in.

Fox cringed as the girl elbowed him in the ribs. If he wasn't a natural, he figured he'd have a broken rib or two from that one. She's definitely too drunk to be here. "As far as drugging you goes, you're only half-right. I used my gift to create the hallucination that we were on a plateau listening to orchestral music, mostly so that we could dance, because I can't dance to dubstep either." Her drunken stupor became harder to deal with as she started really using him for support. He looked down at he as she complained about being taken to bed, but then offered to let him join her. He put his finger on her lips gently. "Maybe if you offer me that again when you're sober I'll take you up on that." He whispered in her ears before picking her up and carrying her like she was a princess or a bride. "Oi, onee-chan, where's your room? Your little sister here needs to get to bed. She's a bit too far gone." Fox called over to the other sister at the bar talking with the snake girl. He wasn't going to drag her away from the conversation, but he NEEDED to get this one back to bed before she tried getting with one of the guys here that WOULD take advantage of her current state.

Penny had just about leaped out of her skin as the wall suddenly exploded to bits. Her eyes widened with horror as she quickly shielded her head with her arms just in case. Her cards went flying from the table, as did her journal, but she hadn't even noticed. "Shit!" she hissed. She blinked up at the new character, her eyes still wide as she slowly lowered her arm and peeked over her shoulder at him.

Well that was one hell of an entrance.

Her eyes darted between him, Vex, and Rook as she cleared her throat. He noticed that the hostility was directed towards Rook. She wondered if stuff like this was going to happen regularly. Maybe is was common for people to just casually explode through walls to terminate each other. She cocked an eyebrow at Rook, smirking, unable to hide her humor towards the thought.

"Hey, uh... I think you have a play date."

@TheLoneRook @SniperBus @Kiroshiven

The card slid neatly across the table, stopping just in front of her. "Well, if by interesting and priceless wager you include services, then absolutely. It's fairly easy to explain, really. I... make things that you could not otherwise.." Vex moved her hand in the air, suggesting she was thinking of a word. "Procure. At least, without getting detained by Dr. Leumas or something stupid like that. Do you have anything interesting to wager, or is this a one-sided bet for me?" Vex smiled, looking at the card, then setting back on the table. Her angle easily prevented anyone looking at her cards, but if that Rook fellow was careless, well, no promises.

"Alternatively
I could wager some of the francium that secretes from my body, assuming you don't do something batshit crazy like dropping it in your glass of water immediately afterwards." Vex flashed a smile, looking at her card again. All of a sudden, the wall Demon had made for himself out of assorted blocks and pieces of floor exploded, and Demon bound across the room towards them. "Okay?" He asked. Why can't these guys keep an I.Q above 73? Jees.. "Yeah, Dem, we're fine. We're just eh.. Playin' cards. Why don't you go talk with Lauren, yeah?" She asked, making sure here words were slower, and more well-pronounce than usual. A few years on the job, you learn how to talk to all sorts of people.

@Kiroshiven @Daisy589816 @TheLoneRook

Rook had noticed a lot of really quite concerning things happening all at once. First Vex acted like...well how she was described. That much was easy. Then all of a sudden Big Nasty #2 had decided to make a guest appearance. The bartender had the same idea Rook had as his fist shot up to counter any sudden assaults made by the massive thing, but it seemed only interested in ensuring the safety of Vex, which was oddly charming in its own way. Both Rook and the bartend lowered their very nasty arms, and Lauren was suddenly standing next to Demon, an arm pressed firmly to his body. Rook noticed plenty of others in the space had gone for weapons too. Overgrown seemed to be tolerated, but it was obvious that making a wrong move in this "living room" was a quick way to get put down early.

"He's okay, he's just making sure you're alright. Demon, she's okay, she just got a little loud is all. No need to worry."

That's when Big Nasty #1 stomped his way over, well really he was just walking but the sound alone could be classified as stomping. The big stone giant wrapped an arm around his giant friend and patted his head, a low rumble echoing from his body and shaking about 3 nearby tables. Lauren nodded to the rocky man, and Rook was glad that at least the horned one was in good hands. "I think I'm gonna take them to bed for now, the party might be a bit too stressful for him, he hasn't really gotten his bearings just yet." Lauren said. She patted Demon's arm and sparks flew as she sent a weak electric current into Demon's brain. This was what made her so good with Overgrown, being able to relay information through electrical inputs instead of sound or physical gestures. It was a more precise way of talking to them, something they could understand, like a base impulse. "Come on big guy, let's get outta here." The small blonde led two massive beasts off to bed. What a sight to behold indeed.

With that, Rook, sat down with the others at the table. "Well, with all that out of the way...I have no idea how to play this game."

Ignis sighed and pulled himself to his feet, following after the girl as she did her little tricks. "Well, you seem to be good enough at it so far. I'd try to do a little experimentation myself, but I feel like I'd need some sort of bunker to really be able to test any limits." he mentioned, watching how Aqua managed to manipulate her water like it was some sort of amorphous putty for her to play with. It was impressive, but he knew it was probably just as lethal. The burning fact sat in the back of his head. Soon enough, they'd be in the field, and it wouldn't be all bad parties and training exercises. Soon enough, they'd be killing.

Michael tried to expel the idea from his head and simply kept his eyes on Aqua, keeping a short distance away for his own safety, just in case he accidentally found out that water beats fire. "You got any ideas on what kind of tests they're gonna be doing tomorrow? It definitely doesn't feel like they're pulling any punches. Hell, we might even be up against each other. Well, hopefully not each other. You're cool, but....weeeellll..." he chuckled at his own humor.

]

Lyra was going to shake the polite snake-lady's hand but then her drunken fox-loving sister decided to barge right back into the conversation she originally abandoned. "SON of a...okay, you're done. God Lila this is why the boss never let you drink with the rest of us." she wrapped an arm around her twin and shooed off the fox-man with a wave of the hand, mouthing out a small "thanks" as she did.

She tried to continue her nice chitchat with Lamia, but it wasn't so easy with Drunk McGee resting on her shoulder. She gently tossed Lila onto a bar stool and gave the bartender a 2 point signal for "Watch this bitch" to which he responded with a bicep-bulging thumbs up, which was a good enough response for her.

Finally able to proceed, she leaned on the counter again. "Chloe you said? Nice to meet you. That's Lila, in case she hasn't already made that clear, we happen to have been born at the same time. Lucky me, right?" she mused, running a hand through her hair as she watched the party dim around her. "We're gonna be in the thick of it tomorrow, how do you feel about it all?" she asked. The stern, cold face she kept on hid her fear well. She didn't know what she was in for, and not knowing was one of her greatest fears, if not the greates.

Kit looked at the giant then at Vex. He came busting through walls because he thought she was in danger and wanted to check on her? She felt her seat rumble beneath her as the second one came to reassure him. Something sparked in her eyes suddenly and she giggled, her dimpled smile now impossible to contain. She looked like a little kid who had just gotten a puppy for Christmas. It made sense now. Putting the fact that they were about two seconds away from certain death past the big guy, she found it adorable. It was like they were more human than the people she was surrounded with in her Pre-Bullet days. One could classify her perception of "adorable" as odd, but she never questioned it.

"Ha. That's kinda cute, actually." she said, her voice returning to its calm and gentle state. "Where I'm from, people won't bat an eye if they hear trouble."

She lived in Kenner in an area that was somewhat shrouded from the city by woods. It was a small, dainty place, but that was a place where everyone had each other's backs. She didn't speak much, but since she was a little girl, her family and the neighboring families maintained a strong, interdependent relationship. Whenever there was a party, everyone around would attend and bring a home-cooked meal. If the farmers' wives planted anything special or extra, they would share with the neighbors. If one set of parents were away overnight, another set would open up their household to babysit.

Loyalty and companionship.

She faded away from that as she got older and her mother became sick. She had less time to enjoy the small community and more bills to pay. She walked for about a little over an hour each night to New Orleans to fight; and in the city of New Orleans, people weren't at all as kind, simply because fear outweighed compassion.

"Lord forbid you get mugged, shot, or shanked in the city at night. No witness would even have the balls to tell the cops what they'd seen." she said with a humorless smirk and she opened her hand of cards.

One could never find Penny without a knife of some sort wherever she walked. Not for the sake of herself, but the sake of supporting her family, she feared death more than she could love life. This fear made her final years stressful and desolate to a point where she no longer lived for herself. Loyalty and companionship began to die before her very eyes and hope was diminished to nothing but a mere element found in children's fairy tales. Kit sighed--no, Penny sighed--and closed her eyes briefly as she let the thoughts dissolve again. Looking up from over the top of her cards at Rook.

"We're playing Five Card Draw. It's a simple as shit, but I'll walk you through it. I think you'll like it. We're not playing for money though, so think of something rare to offer up.. Or a service, maybe."

She looked to Vex, her finger resting lightly on her lips as she pondered what items she could have possibly contributed to the bet, which--to be blunt, was practically not shit at all. The only thing that came to mind was her journal, but there was no chance in blue hell that it was even in question. It was the only thing she had left. Perks of being a runt with no special abilities outside of "scribbling dicks" in a journal, she thought sarcastically, in reference to Rook's crude joke.

"I don't have much to offer outside of my loyalty, if that means anything. I'll perform any daunting, embarrassing, or hand-dirtying task the winner wants me to perform. Shit. It can be tap-dancing in a gorilla suit on top of that damn piano if you want." She raised a finger immediately after her offer. "Don't get too crafty though. I do have my limits. Anyways, the way this works is, the player with the best hand wins. The player with the worst loses. If two people tie for the worst hand, we'll do a face-off between the two. Let's do couple of trials first."

Demon started to calm down as it was clear the two women were okay. He didnt want to leave them alone witb room though. It was just something in his mind that said "dont leave". He planted himself down before Laura walked up.

He felt her calming him down as she placed her hand on him. He felt the jolt of her sending the signal it was time to go. Add in Marble ushering him away and Demon felt he had no choice. Before he was dragged away, he scooped up a notebook that was on the floor and set it on the table. He wasnt sure who owned it, but it was pne of the three. And with that, he left the group to their card games.

Margaret frowned to the slurred speech of the young woman. She could not have drunk so much already to be tipsy...these symptoms would show up at least an hour later. Her eyes remained glued to the young woman trying to explain the scenario, having a little trouble before her sapphire eyes glared right at the fox man being held by the girl. Her face did not phase to the mention of the man putting her to bed, whispering something into the woman's ear as she crossed her arms. "I highly recommend you immediately return when you finish tucking her in, Fox...because I am not done with you," she warned seriously.

@SniperBus @Kiroshiven

Fox was surprised when the older sister merely took the young girl, Lila it seemed, from his arms and slammed her on the bar. "Well, that's a bit unexpected." Fox smiled and shrugged as he turned to the woman that had approached them. "You're not done with me? Come now, am I truly that attractive now that women must throw themselves at me?" He chuckled at the stupidity of his own joke. "But on a more serious note, what is it you would like to discuss dear doctor?" Fox wasn't unfamiliar with the typical behavior, demeanor and scent of doctors. He'd spent his life around them enough to be able to identify it easily. He was truly curious as to what the young woman wanted from him, but at the same time felt like joining the others at the table for cards. Or speaking with the snake woman and the elder sister. There was also the water and fire duo that seemed to be flaunting their abilities. Lastly, there was the fish woman and the young teen that seemed eager to meet others as well. Ultimately though, his priority was to the woman in front of him. It would be rude to just run off.

Vex watched the exchange between the behemoths and Lauren with mild interest, staring at Daisy when she started laughing. Pretty weird sense of humor.. Or maybe it's a normal sense of humor, and I've just lost mine. Lauren then complained about how loud she'd gotten, and it was Vex's turn to start laughing. A massive, towering behemoth smashing apart a room to check on someone when they raise their voice.. Then Lauren turned around, escorting Demon out of the room, and it made her laugh even harder. Vex looked at the card in her hand again, putting on a jacket with her left hand. After putting the jacket on, she rolled down the sleeves. "Pretty cold in here, you know? I wish they'd keep it warm at least one of the days of the year." Not much I can do with a two of diamonds, is there? Vex took a vial out from her jacket pocket, putting her thumb to the lip. The nozzle opened, and francium began gushing into the vial. Vex sealed the tiny glass bottle with a screw-on cap, setting it in the middle of the table. "One gram of pure francium concentrate is my wager. It's half-life is about 27 minutes, so we should hurry if you want to take home any sort of prize, hmm? Try to ignore the fact it's radioactive." She smiled broadly, thinking back to the last time she gave someone francium at a party. Then her expression soured when she remembered his bloodstains were still on the wall she was leaning on.

Should I cheat? Vex poked the deck of cards in her jacket pocket, as only her left hand was on the table. ..Nah, they haven't even wagered anything of value. I can wait. Besides, first impressions and all that. "Ey, bartend!" She said, waving with her right hand. The big man stared at her while polishing a glass, saying nothing. "Can you bring us three shot glasses and some vodka?" The burly man nodded for a moment, coming out a second later and putting what she requested on the table. Then he walked back to the bar, staring at the drunk girl who was collapsed, and probably had passed out. Vex took her hand out of her pocket, pouring three shots. She took one, saying, "Anarchy is a great thing, don't you think?"

Lila

Lila laughed as her sister took her from the foxman. Unsteady and swaying, Lila leaned heavily on her sister. Her laughter stopped when, abruptly, she was tossed through the air. Her gut hit the bar, and in one motion she folded in half, laying her head on her arms. N' time li' teh presen.. At that, Lila was out cold. One can only imagine the kind've dreams she must've had.

Margaret kept her eyes glued to the fox man, her brow still furrowed in seriousness and slight frustration to how the man seemed to take the situation so lightly. "I am not a woman to throw myself at anyone, sir," she stated a little bluntly. "And as for what I would like to discuss, I would suggest your refrain from the use of your new powers on our own teammates. We have no idea how potent your abilities are and I don't wish to be the one to treat potential patients within the first day we are here."

Of course such comments coming from an Augment may not settle well with any of the others of the team, Augment or not, but Margaret was always one to speak her mind even if no one else wanted to hear it. She did not get a lot of friends that way...but she was always serious about her job and the safety of others.

That got serious fast. One moment she had been having a nice chat with Lyra and watching with some amusement as she tried to keep talking with her drunk sister all but laying on her, then she had thrown said sister away and asked her how she felt about being 'in the thick of it' tomorrow. She had to admit that was news to her, but she supposed it made sense. Why else would they have gone through with all this effort to mutate people and steal them away. It probably wasn't just so they could throw them the weirdest party ever.

"You mean some sort of combat test right, not the real thing? I'm not sure how I feel about it, I mean I never considered myself the fighting sort before, and i'm still getting used to my 'powers'. I don't really want to do this but if there's no choice then why worry about it." Chloe hadn't really thought about it before now, the fact that she was going to be fighting, probably have to risk her life. But now she had said the words she realized she meant it. If this was what her life was now then she would do as she always did, try to make the most of it.

"Huh, I guess that's my answer then. I'l take on whatever challenge they give me, and do my best to keep living my life the best I can" In contrast to Lyra's cold face Chloe gave a small smile. In these sorts of situations you just had to look on the bright side. For example no more worrying about money or what job to get.

Kit hadn't even realized that her journal had fallen off of the table until Big Guy picked it up. She made eye contact with him and smiled to thank him. She resumed with the game and looked back towards Vex as she downed a shot. She picked up one herself, though she was reluctant to risk getting a bit tipsy. Not used to drinking often, there was always a thin line between her being buzzed and being honest. This had to be her cut-off. Last time she was honest, she finished a fight that wasn't meant to be finished. She got upset, grabbed a smug bastard by the collar of his shirt, slammed against counter of the bar, and threw him him over it; then proceeded to curse him with very, very, very, very, long string of profanities. He deserved it, of course, but it was normally in her nature to remain calm and to herself, even if ignorance was prevalent. She tipped her head back, her wild, curly hair pouring down her back as she took the shot down and cringed from the taste.

"Damn straight." she replied as she sat the empty shot glass down. "Alright. Ready for the trial-run?"

Hope is tragic.

Those were the greatest words of wisdom that anyone could offer a man like him. Why think so wishfully when you could possibly be awaiting disappointment? His parents had a lot of hope for him. They fed him so many Bible versus at the dinner table that he remembered them in his sleep. He was known as the Jesus freak who muttered every verse of the Corinthians in his sleep at fifth grade summer camp. All in order. While the embarrassment didn't drive him to atheism, it still drove him to hate the two I'm uncultured. They were the most stereotypical breed of Christians:

Hypocritical.

The fake smiles at church. The "blessings" they offered in the form of pocket change during the service. The way they believed that children died because God needed more little helpers in heaven. Those two idiots gave him an ass rash. He could have sworn that his mother attended church just to brag about her new, stupid-looking hats. His father must have went, knowing that he wasn't getting laid if he didn't. He cringed at the sound of their names at every family and church gathering. "Oh lovely, Ron and Linda brought a their homemade bread pudding to last Sunday's service. Oh, it was delicious!" or "Bless Ron and Linda's hearts. That son of theirs gives them a lot of grief, I hear." He could never un-see the horrified look on their faces when he filled his mouth with peroxide and faked being possessed as a teenager. He muttered and cursed them them both, calling them out on their materialistic, unholy, behavior. He even called his dad out of looking at the overweight lady's ass at the grocery store. The element of that whole stunt that still made him snicker under his breath was the fact that they couldn't deny of the shit that he was saying. They could only freak out, scream at each other, and pray that he didn't expose anything else that they were guilty of. But did they change? Did they learn anything?

Of course not. They continued to pretend that their household didn't have any problems, they continued flashing their money and shiny things wherever they went, they pretended to love everyone, and they continued to ostracize their son for not partaking in their moronic, condescending, self-righteous culture. They grounded him for a month and forced him to rewrite Deuteronomy section of the bible over and over again in his room for two days straight.

He wondered how innocent they'd look if he began doing drugs. He wondered how holy their household would look if he listened to metal and painted his walls black. He wondered how happy and jolly their family would see if their only son committed suicide.

His final Pre-Bullet night, his insomnia kept him awake. It was 2 a.m., and he was going for a drive. By this time, he was paranoid and muttering to himself. He wouldn't pick up the needle, but he wouldn't move on in life either. This was it. He stopped at a bridge, the rain heavy enough to cave in the roof of his truck. He stepped out of the car, leaning over the railing to admire the height which would snap his neck within only a fraction of a second if he fell. This was it. He opened his arms, shifting his weight to his upper body, his heart beating in his ears. He apologized to his little sisters, the only ones in his family that showed admiration towards him.

This was it.

Bang.

He didn't even have the chance to take his own life. However, he did have a chance to live another. Though he still had many questions, he took this as a true blessing. Definitely not the kind that was found in his parents' pockets at church. The room was hot and the air was sticky with humidity the smell of spilled beer. He couldn't understand why everyone seemed so glum and serious. This was a fucking revolution. He could give the drunk girl and the "Fox guy" credit for enjoying themselves. His gloved hand gripped the neck of his third beer bottle and he laughed loudly with the band of cocky men who told stories of their Pre-Bullet days and picked out the girls in the room who weren't too mutated to look at in bed. Since he was awakened by his power, the thought of now having purpose and being away from the drama in his previous life swarmed his mind, and he was ecstatic. He wore a standard, white tank top, his broad, freckled shoulders shiny with sweat, his skin glowing. Literally. It seemed like there was a pulsing, golden light inside of him that made him look like malfunctioning Christmas lights. It was a mutation that wasn't well hidden. He just hoped that a woman would still find the will to have sex with a human light-bulb. He wasn't going to bet on those days forward being all sunshine and redemption, but he was grateful enough to enjoy what was around him for the time being. A He stepped away from the table to approach the half-destroyed bar, passive towards the mess, but demanding another beer.

"Yo. Buddy. You think I can get another one?" he asked, with subtle joy written on his face.

Fox laughed at Margaret's concern. So long as he kept the visions peaceful, it shouldn't cause any problems. "Come now. It's not like I was trying to kill her or anything." He smiled as he took out his pipe. The feeling of the smoke moving into his lungs was comforting somehow. It was like it was a part of his being. He exhaled into her direction with a smile. "I mean, how can a simple vision be so problematic? It's not like I'm sending anyone off to fight Odin or Cthulu. I'm just creating another world." His gold eyes shimmered as he thought about what kind of world he'd create if she caught whiff of the smoke. Should he try and romance her? Or could he give her a moment to experience a life she desired? Either would be a nice change of pace from life in the hospital.

@LadyMatsudai

Frowning a little more to the laughter, Margaret remained silent to see Fox grab a hold of his pipe and start to pack it with his chosen poison. "I can understand you not having malicious intent...but that still does not excuse the fact we don't know what everyone's powers can do to everyone else on the team and that is not a risk I wish to take," started Margaret bluntly, watching Fox inhale the curtain of smoke pour slowly from the barrel and from the corners of his lips to wave her hand to air the smoke away from her face. "I have not been granted access yet to the files of everyone here. I need to make sure no one has any pre-existing conditions, neurological, mental, or otherwise, that would have adverse effects on the abilities of everyone else here. If there is a predisposition to problems further down the line, I wish to fix that...not to mention the fact that painting the perfect world someone wants can do more harm than good," warned the doctor on a softer tone, crossing her arms back over her chest.

@Kiroshiven

Fox chuckled as he watched her eyes light up when she saw the pipe. Does she think the pipe is packed with the poison? Fox held back the laughter. The pipe wasn't necessary, it was just designed to be more useful to him as it didn't need to be lit and it would give him access to his ability. That's at least what he'd figured out so far. "Margaret, you need to relax a bit more. Also, you're misreading my ability." Fox spoke politely as his tails swayed slowly behind him. This person is a fun game. However, how long till the smoke fills the room? Fox put the pipe away and decided to grab a pack of cigarettes out of his robes. It took him a minute to find a lighter in within his clothes, but he did manage to light the cigarette. The smoke from this was more bothersome as it burned lightly, but this wouldn't be a problem.

He let out a sigh as the smoke billowed forth towards her, but not her face this time. No, he wanted to play around a bit before getting the chance to let her see what he felt like doing. "I would love to go over my power in a bit more details for you, but alas I don't want to give you any hints to beating me." Another puff from his cig and this time he sent the smoke up into the air. He watched in amusement as the smokes were starting to culminate together while being moved about the room from the air conditioning. "These people shot and killed us once already. I wouldn't put it past them to pit us against one another for sport. And even if you are a pretty face," Fox gently ran one tail along the Doctor's cheek as he took another drag form his cigarette. He assumed that, as it was softer than most furs, she'd enjoy that touch over his hand. "I won't hold back if that's what they decide to do." He puffed out a ring towards her. And then a straight shot through it. This time he suspected she'd have her guard down and would get caught up in the spectacle.

@LadyMatsudai

"I hate to disappoint you, Fox...but I am not exactly the most relaxed individual you would come across," spoke Doc honestly, the scowl still apparent on her lips as she watched his tails for just a moment sway behind his lean figure. A heavy sigh of disappointment escaped her lips to see Fox change his pace by putting his pipe away to retrieve the cigarettes in his pocket. Margaret had always hated the idea of smoking, even if it was common practice among physicians she knew in her field as well as others. Doctors sometimes were the biggest hypocrites she had ever met. But the scowl grew to Fox playfully blowing the smoke in the air, a little happier to see he was being a little decent and keeping the smoke from her face this time.

"I do not plan to beat you, Fox. I merely wish to understand how everyone's powers work so I could provide the best medical care possible. I am trained for human health specifically, but that does not mean I wish to understand more given our current...situation," hinted Margaret seriously. "I am not necessarily the most polite individual or one to make friends immediately, but that will not stop me from the fact that I wish to help. I can't change anything about how we got here...but I wish to make the best of it," retorted the Augmented doctor before frowning to the site of the ring moving towards her. Her eyes suddenly widened to the straight arrow of smoke aiming right for her face, making her close her eyes from the burn and cough from the inhalation.
