Fantasy The Dragon of The North

Jocelyn looked at each horse carefully, then she picked a young, all white stallion, with a silvery gray mane. She lead it out of the stables, claiming it.

Astrid's eye was immediately caught by a jet black, intimidating horse who's very tempermant could be viewed as a great one for battle. It was calm on her approach, yet looked feisty and capable in inflicting damage to others and in battle- just what she needed. So, she approached the horse carefully and stroked its maine to let it know that she was there. She was a fine steed and Astrid could clearly see that the horse would serve her well in battle. "I will call you Shadowmere." Astrid said outloud to the horse.

(Lol sky rim!)

Jocelyn looked into the horses eyes, it looked calm and peaceful and cautious, but it's body looked good for keeping speed and looked pretty fast, which was her goal, it was also lightweighted. She grabbed some hay from the stable and hand fed it, it hesitated at first but ate the hay a moment later. She mounted the horse. And in her mind decided she would call him "Sky"

((I couldn't resist as it was Astrid's horse. XP))

Astrid lead it out of the stable with the bridal. As it was lead out to the shining daylight, she could see that the horse was rather muscular without being too much so. However, it seemed that agility would favour her horse more than brute strength. But, it was assuring that it did have strength and would be able to aid her in battle.

Uki decided that her current equipment was enough. It had served her for a long time, yet still was as sturdy and sharp. She followed the old wizard into the stable and looked at the horses presented. She wasn't sure what the others were basing their mount choice on, but after a moment of pondering, Uki was rather sure on which horse would be the best suited for the quest. A small yet muscular and sturdy stallion was standing in the corner. Although his brown pelt wasn't so elegant, it was thick, and suited for the cold temeperature of the North. However, befeore making her choice, Uki wanted to have more information.

-That short brown horse over there, what's his attitude? Does he have any experience with mountains and the cold? What is his name?

Bennett approached a war horse, its coat a mixture of ebony with bright socks of white and a cream flare up its muzzle. He observed it a moment, before checking the hooves, and assessing muscle mass. He listened to all the names everyone used, and frowned before patting the horses neck. "Betty." He nodded, declaring it quite loudly. He wasn't so imaginative nor dramatic lets put it at that.

The wizard looked over at Uki, and shrugged. "Im a wizard. I barely leave the damn castle. I don't know" He replied in a disgruntled manner.

((Betty is back xDD))

Astrid chuckled at the knight's 'imaginative' brain and turned to him. "Betty? What kind of a name is Betty for a war horse?" She asked the knight, but was actually quite surprised that a knight like him would name his horse that. However, Astrid then smiled at the name as it showed a different side to the knight than she had seen before...

The knight looked back at Astrid. "Its suiting name. I mean- Shadowmere? Betty seems a more threatening title... I also call all my horses Betty. This would be Betty the fifth. Its a running history of horses." He gave a slight grin, running his hand through the mares mane. "Started off as a joke." He shrugged, laughing lightly as he checked over her reins and saddle.

@Calcifer

The short woman frowned at the wizard when she spoke, as had become the usual by now. What kind of person didn't know about the mounts in their home? Uki could still remember the name and attitude of every mount they used back in the tribe. Seeing how she couldn't get any information from the wizard, she decided that she would choose the short stallion anyway. She pondered for a while on what she was going to name her horse, seeing how she had never named an animal before. She sadled the horse and joined the others.

-From now on this horse is Arrluk, or 'killer whale', she told them, satisfied with the name she had picked.

She shook her head. "No. Shadowmere is definately more threatening. Betty seems like a cute little pony's name." Astrid taunted a little, but really did not mean any disrespect. "Betty is a fine name for your horse." She corrected herself before checking her horse's reins, bridal and saddle to make sure it was in good condition and not faulty.

Advancing to the stables, Ella surveyed the horses and noted the other's selections. After several moments, she strode gently up to a very calm and peacefully lounging mare of bright shimmering white, splotched with deep browns in a beautiful pinto pattern. She placed her hand gently on the creature's neck, the tip of her hood brushing it's coat. Medina. She'd call it Medina, unless the mare was already called by another name.

Bennett looked at each of them. "Betty hides her true intentions. You think she's innocent, till she snaps your neck with a hind leg kick" He replied, jokingly of course. Now looking back toward the tribal girl and one other "Well, at least I didn't call my horse after a whale." He replied, shrugging. Trying his best to hold back a laugh. "Not that its a bad thing. Whales are... Threatening."

@Spazzycat101 @SdrawcabDaer @Calcifer

Astrid turned towards the tribal woman. "Yes, whales are certainly threatening. They will squish you when given half a chance." She agreed with Bennett, trying to hide a smirk. A whale? Naming a horse after a whale? Whales were slow and heavy. A horse shouldn't be portrayed that way...

Uki looked at Bennett and Astrid with disappoinment. It seemed as if they thought her name choice was silly, even though Bennet's story about 'hind leg kicks' was obviously sillier. At least Shadowmere could spring fear into the enemy.

-I understand that you two have never fought an orca whale, then? she said. And how do you hope to intimidate the enemies with Betty? Then again, your name is Bennett...

Uki mumbled the last sentence.

@XxLuluxX @Calcifer

"I have eaten one before. Very meaty and tasty if I recall correctly." She replied with a smirk. Astrid then turned to Bennett. "She has a point." She then agreed with the tribal woman on the last part that was murmered by her. Astrid was truly sitting on the fence- neither on one side, nor the other.

@SdrawcabDaer @XxLuluxX

"Well I don't tend to swim in artic waters much" He smirked, shaking his head till he heard the mutter. "Hey, what was that about my name?" He suddenly asked, whilst a scowl darkened his brow. He looked back at Astrid, and gave a small glare. "What's wrong with Bennett?"

@Calcifer @SdrawcabDaer

Astrid burst out with laughter at his confusion and questions. "Bennett...Sir Bennett... Although you do sound like an upper class knight... Does it scream out threatening to you?" She asked him back, waiting for his response and answer. Astrid really wasn't against him, she just needed something to amuse her.

@XxLuluxX

"Actually, i'll think you find it's 'Sir William' Bennett being my first name." The knight retorted, rolling his eyes. "And since when is 'Astrid' threatening? You sound like a horoscope" He replied in defence.

@Calcifer

"For your information, it means divine strength. I have strength for battle, so it is threatening." She disagreed with him, actually having evidence to back up her answer...Unlike him... "And it is not just strength...It is divine strength." Astrid nodded at Sir Bennett William with her arms crossed.
