Sage whipped around when he heard a voice and saw Neb. He walked over and cocked his head. " Did you just talk. " He asked with a raised eyebrow.

His voice was a deep rasp. Yet smooth as honey. Now that Sage was listening it should have been loud and clear in his head. Luka probably would think he was nuts, unless he was listening too. The more Neb listened to the TV, the more he learned about the human language. He was a very fast learner and was able to learn a lot from the television.


Master? Am I dog? Or man?

Sage gaped at the question before seriously thinking about it while Lukas jumped back in shock. " He can talk!" Luka yelled while Sage nodded. " I don't know what you are Neb. " Sage said as he rested a hand on Neb's head.

Raven's chest never stopped moving, even after he was off of her, because of the deep, fast breaths she was taking. She felt herself lightly shaking from what almost happened.


Me. He was talking about me. Raven's eyes widened as that realization slapped her in the face.


She had to do something.


She tried sitting up more, fight back a scream of pain while doing so, and she watched him. "Garfield." She started. She knew the emotion she had been running from was evident in her tone, and she didn't care.


Look at me ruining everything for a boy. She joked in her head, then internally slapped herself, while cringing, for doing such a thing.


"I-" She was cut off from the sound of the door opening, and a hospital nurse coming it. She stared at him for a moment longer with the fiercest look in her eyes.


Then she looked at the nurse.


The nurse looked surprised at the two, but disregarded the moment they were obviously having. Then, with a bland, loud voice she said, "Visiting hours are over, sir, unless you are family or a spouse, you must leave." She rolled her eyes as she recited the words.


Somebody hates their job...


"But-" Raven was, once again, cut off from the obnoxious woman.


"I'm sorry. Hospital rules." The expression on her face showed anything but sorrow. Then she left.





Raven was shaking in anger. Her heart rate had tripled, if not quadrupled, and everything in the room started to shift.


This is why emotions aren't ever a good idea! You're losing your calm!


Shut up.





Raven took a few moments to focus on her breathing before looking at him.


She couldn't say it now.

Neb was sitting on the ground so when Sage rest a hand on his head he leaned into him, letting his head rest on Sage's belt.


Guarded the lake of fire. Slave? I was beaten?


This came as more of a question as words began to take meaning. He looked down at the x-shaped scars across his chest. Figuratively looked, he was still blindfolded. Odd thing about Neb was that he usually didn't breathe unless he had to for a sigh or groan/ gasp... He also had no pulse but has hot as a furnace.

" What do you mean? Were you a slave?. " Sage tried to put the pieces together and he got an idea. He turned to Lukas. " Lukas get my laptop. " Sage said and Lukas dodged before he ran up stairs , got the laptop from Sage's room and returned to Sage's side while holding out the laptop. Sage took it and opened the laptop before he went to Google and searched 'lake of fire.' " So the lake of fire is hell. " Sage noted then searched ' How does hell associate with dogs' and saw hellhounds. He put two and two together before looking at Neb. " You are a hellhound. " Sage said

Hell. Hound? Still slave. Love new master though.


Neb did indeed love his new master. Much better than the last, Sage didn't beat him, use his body like a doll then leave him with the rest of the back to guard the gates. Sage might not see Neb as a slave, but Neb would always see Sage as master from now on since he claimed him.


I can play the role of mortal dog. Right?

Sage nodded. " Yes you can. " Sage said before he read the article about hellhounds out loud. After he was done he grabbed a dictionary. " I'm going to teach you words so you can make complete sentences. " Sage said.

Neb was beginning to learn to speak more and more as he continued to listen to the TV and to Sage and Luka talking. Reading to him out of a dictionary should get him speaking well. Would probably give him a rather advanced vocabulary compared to what he had.


Neb crawled up onto the couch, laying over and laying his head in Sage's lap, listening to everything.

"Whoa whoa whoa... hold up miss! I'm ah, family!" Beast Boy yelled at the nurse before following her out of Raven's room. He wasn't gonna leave her here... not now...
He walked past other nurses and doctors who were strolling down the hallways to wherever they were supposed to be heading. Beast Boy didn't care, he just had to reach the nurse. The nurse turned around and crossed her arms. She cocked her head up like a snob, and waited as if he had to report to her.


"Uh miss... I uh... I'm Rachel's family... so... I'm not gonna leave." He said as he emphasized the last part of it, to show he had something of a spine.


The nurse simply shrugged and let out a "Humph." as she rotated around back to the opposite direction of Beast Boy, and began to walk away. Beast Boy let out a sigh as he started to head back to Raven's room.

Raven's heart pounded in her chest as Beast Boy ran after the nurse.


He's going to stay here tonight. She thought as her eyes went wide.


Should I tell him?


So what if you do? Raven's fear, was grasping at her. She had to shut down unless she wanted to lose it.


I'm going to wait for him to come back. She decided in her panic-filled mind.

Beast Boy hesitatingly entered Ravens room, not knowing what to expect. Did he just... expose how he truly felt about her? He stared at her as he closed the door behind him slowly. He crept towards his seat and slowly sat down on it, without taking his eyes off of her.


What... what is she gonna do...?

Color flushed Raven's cheeks, as she looked at her hands, which were currently in two fists.


She could feel the burn of him staring at her.


Then a thought came to her.


He wasn't actually going to sleep in the chair was he?


"Garfield..." She mumbled, then turned a rose color, knowing what she was about to ask. "You're not actually going to sleep in the chair are you?" Still not making eye contact.


Sure, he could always shift into a kitten or something, but she wanted him in her bed. Allowed or not.

After Sage had finished teaching Neb he rubbed the hellhound's head before he got up and stretched. " I'm going to take a bath. " Sage said before he went upstairs , filled the bath tub with water , stripped and got into the tub. He let out a content sigh as he closed his eyes.

"Well... I mean.. I.." Beast Boy mumbled. He really wanted to cuddle up with Raven, but he didn't want to invade. Especially... if she did indeed reject him. "I am kinda cold... but I'll make do. Besides, I think you need the company..." He said to her as he forced a smile on his face. "I wanna be with you Rache'." He said before blushing... realizing what he said could be taken a completely different way.


No Raven, I actually want to snuggle under the sheets with you and lick you in cat form.

Without saying anything, Raven lifted the sheets on the side closest to him, and attempted to move over. The pain she felt from her back and arms was overwhelming, and the air gave her goosebumps. Raven did her best at fighting screams of pain, and was rather proud of hiding her weakness.


Only to be weak again...


"Come here." She said, and finally looked at him. She took in what was actually happening, and felt her stomach flip in joy. Her breathing caught up to speed, but she was sure to keep her composure.

Showing hesitation, but shouting on the inside, Beast Boy turned into his cat form and leapt onto the spot Raven had cleared for him. He was so excited, that if it wasn't for him shifting into a cat, he would be shaking. As he landed on the little area, he rubbed his paws against the mattress and circled around it before curling up into a ball. He tucked his tail in, and let out a slight purr. He then raised his head to face Raven, while remaining speechless.

Do I need a bath?


Neb asked, he'd never had a bath before. He'd bathed in fire, but never water. He didn't know what it felt like and was frankly curious. He then looked to Luka. He loved Sage as his new master, yet Luka began to interest him. He smelt and sounded a lot like Sage and their energies we're alike.

Lukas looked right back at Neb before placing a hand on his head. " You can have a bath after Sage is finished. " Lukas said before grabbing Sage's laptop and began playing games.

Neb asked, resting his head on Luka's shoulder. He didn't quite consider Luka as a master, so putting his head in his lap wasn't as appropriate as it was with Sage in his mind. That and he sensed he was still a child.

She smiled at his cat form, though wishing it was actually him to hold her. She pulled the covers up, then curled up with the warm, purring feline.


"Goodnight, Garfield." She mumbled. Her head was halfway buried in the pillow, as she was sleeping on her side to relieve pressure from her back. Her knees were bent, and allowed her body to form more of a curving shape, as she cocooned around him. Her arms tucked him in close to her.


This moment was amongst her favorite.


Then, as she held him in her arms, she slowly began to fall asleep.

Sage came back down stairs when he heard Neb ask how to bath. He sat down on the couch and folded his arms. " Well , first you take of clothes , then you get into the water then you use soap and finally you use water to wash off the soap. " Sage explained as best he could.

I...dont think I've ever been without my clothing... Yesterday was the first time I was ever unrestrained.


Neb muttered as he stood, boots clacking against the floor. He'd also never removed his boots either... The shorts and belt had been removed from him on occasion, but other than that, he'd never experienced actually being completely undressed. Demons didn't need to. Although he was sure it would feel pretty nice for a change. He squirmed for a moment, realizing that HE couldn't get his arms unbuckled himself.

Sage and Lukas blushed bright red while Sage unbuckled Neb's arms. " Lukas go to your room, I have to help Neb. " Sage said and Lukas did as told. " Neb follow me. " Sage said as he went up stairs to the bathroom and put on the shower. " Ok when you finish taking off your clothes get in the water then use the soap. " He said gesturing to the soap.

Neb seemed to examine his arms, he traced the leather up and realized it connected with his collar. It took a bit of squirming but he managed to get them off right there in the living room, revealing the black marks all over his hands and arms that were all over the area that wasn't visible due to them. Where the buckles were, were dark due to how tight the straps were pulled. He then followed Ssge to the bathroom, suddenly becoming interested in his boots. Those had never been off ever! Curiosity began to hit him... Did he even have human feet?
