Feel Good Cat GIF

So for Purr Purr ’s request for picturesfrom my weekend of games with friends at a castle in the hills.

I had a wonderful time. It is nice to be with friends and not just on text or video with them.

To answer the questions.

The board game in the picture is the Wild Western version of Zombicide. We also played Marvel Zombies (which is the Marvel version of Zombicide except you play the zombies).

Yes, this is photo proof that my halfling mark of healing celestial warlock rolled a natural 20 with max damage for their Eldtrich Blast which took down the big bad guy for the scenario we were playing for with D&D 5e. (The world was Eberron)

The castle has two cats that wander the grounds, this is one of them, walking across the giant outdoor chess board.

And that is the castle itself.

Eonivar Eonivar Wonderful! What a magnificent time you must have had! When I said take pictures, I was hoping for you to capture the scene for decades to come, but that you have taken it a step further and shared these with us is just delightful! The cat prowling between the ever-stalwart forces of the chess pieces, the fun-looking dice board, and that dice set-up! I love it! The castle itself steals the show from its historical value alone.

Guy Sclanders from How to Be a Great GM does this sort of thing from time to time, run a game in a real castle, but this is as close as I am likely to get to it. Thank you, Eon, for sharing these good times! This is living! 8D

Honor and fun,
Dann =)

RP Nation seems to think that Alchie hasn't been on since last Thursday.

As for Dreamy, yes, I have one of three scenes in my head and I have to decide which one to choose. I will try to do that tonight. =)

I am planning on advancing the IC thread tonight. Do you wish to add anything before I do? At the moment Dreamy is still away from the fire communing with Owl.
Nope Ajax is good, Raven answered his question, Ajax is 100% down with killing vampires.

Psychie Psychie sorry I had a very stressful weekend/week, had to find ways to pay my electricity bill (was about to be disconnected) and my computer on top of it had issues, for now things are getting back to normal but give me at least a little bit and will reply. Sorry everybody, I didn't want to make it seems that I abandoned you but it was an emergency.

Eternal Alchemist Eternal Alchemist Hey! There he is! No worries, Alchie! I feel you deserve benefit of the doubt - I had no idea why you had gone silent for nearly a week, but these Rifts games? They're games! Here to relieve our stress, not add to them.

What kind of fellow player am I to you if I can't help you relieve stress, especially when Real Life is causing you such distress?

I'm glad you're back and I hope everything is O.K.! Take your time! I'm just glad to see you posting again, Alchie! 8D

Honor and fun,
Dann =)

Eonivar Eonivar That's cool and all but what do we know about him as a person? What has he shared? For example, has he shared why he became a Knight of the White Rose in the first place (is he from MadHaven, perhaps)?

Ajax's pointed ears picked up the distinct words 'New York City'.

He stepped forward, his movement was direct and could almost be seen as somewhat aggressive. His fair face full of suspicion and well aware of his oath.

"New York City? That place is dangerous to everyone. Not even the Coalition dares going there. The city itself is cursed and drives people mad...and it is crawling with mutants. There is nothing there. Why would you want to go to Madhaven for transportation across the ocean?"
Eonivar Eonivar O.K.. Before I respond with Dreamy, I think I want to know a few things. Has Ajax mentioned New York to us before?

What has he told us about the Knights of the White Rose, (if anything)?

I've got Dreamy in my head wondering why Ajax is hot under the collar about New York City. Colson did not even mention Madhaven. That was all Ajax.
Dreamy's mentors (those anthropomorphic Ninja Undead Hunters) all operated out of New York so it's not a huge leap to say that she knows about The Big Apple's Five Boroughs.

What is less likely is that she knows anything at all about the Knights of the White Rose. I want her to know what Ajax told us about them (again, if anything) unless our GM says otherwise. Might her mentors have mentioned them to her?

So what would you like us to know? Once I know that, I can respond in-character.

Those are all good questions and I have not had a chance to relay Ajax’s backstory.

For mentioning New York, I would say “no” they have not mentioned anything about that place before, it is specifically in the Oath for a Knight of the White Rose to never reveal the location of their main camp in NYC
"Never betray a member of the Order of the White Rose, and never reveal the camp' s secret location even under torture and threat of death"

Ajax at the moment is trying to figure out why anyone would want to go to NYC for anything.

What the party knows of Ajax...

They know he is from the Magic Zone or is at least familiar with the area.

They know he was raised as a slave of the Splugorth.

Raven and anyone who has seen his shield knows he is a part of an order of which the White Rose is a symbol. Raven knows, their Master had always called him Ser Ajax or Ser Blackthorn, and that their Master knew Ajax had gone through some sort of Knightly trials but was not a Cyber Knight. Raven probably would not is be sure of the Order itself and any details about it, and Ajax is quiet about the matter.

Ajax is pretty standoffish about personal questions and he has no problem getting into a scuffle if need be. He has a very low MA and can be a pretty unpleasant fellow if he wants. He has stuck around the group mainly because of Raven. Beyond Raven he would have no problem going off on his own if the rest of the group did not want him around.

Beyond that he is a very able battle companion and is true to his word, and loyal to Raven and anyone else who pays him respect. He does not ask for much and is generally apt to help anyone in need he sees as good. He seeks to do good deeds, help the innocent and destroy evil. His tactics and techniques when fighting evil can be pretty brutal (evoking the Mystic Knights).

If anyone has dealt with the evil Mystic Knights, they have seen Ajax have the same powers as the Mystic Knights, but his actions has shown to be good, so they may suspect he is some sort of outcast or ronin of sorts from the Mystic Knights.

Raven would know Ajax has connections to a Mercenary Company in the Magic Zone called "Bethesda Mercenary Enterprises".

"Never betray a member of the Order of the White Rose, and never reveal the camp' s secret location even under torture and threat of death"
Right! I am thinking of the same! And that the mere mention of New York City, Ajax mentions Madhaven of all places! Why?

Beyond that he is a very able battle companion and is true to his word, and loyal to Raven and anyone else who pays him respect.
Yes. This. This is where Dreamy will have treated Ajax from the get-go. She has her secrets and he has his. A party that can't respect each other doesn't deserve to be together. Respect is paramount.

Dreamy might not understand Ajax's past, but as far as she is concerned, it is his past to keep. No one else's. She helped save his life because it was the right thing to do, not because she wanted something out of him. If you think it has come up, she would have told him this.

Plus, she couldn't stand the idea of anybody continuing to live a hellish life of slavery under the Splugorth for a single day longer than they had to. To her (and in their past eight months together, she has said this several times) freedom is something to be cherished. Never taken for granted.

So, given what you've given me here, I can say with confidence that she realizes he is sensitive about New York but doesn't know why. And now she is a bit concerned about him. She cares like that. Always has.

That works! Thanks!

I was under the impression that most folks in North America called NYC "Madhaven"...if that is not correct I will change his response

Ah, not in my experience. That's kind of like calling all of New York "The Bronx" or "Harlem." Those are parts of New York and special parts of it, but it is not all of New York - not by a long shot. Each of the five boroughs has its own history.

Now I think I see where you're coming from. =)

ok I will adjust his response then.
Thank you, Eon! Isn't it funny how one simple word can just change a sentence drastically? Even a single letter can make a difference, right? Hah! =)

"I played a role-playing game in a castle recently!"

"Oh, how cool!"

"That's nothing. I played a role-playing game in a cattle recently!"

"Uuuhhh, you did what? Er, I hope you had a great time? Heh!"

Moo, they did not serve steak at the castle either….

Hehe

Ok gang! Here are our options: we can either dice out the combat between you and the vampires, or we can skip forward to just after the fight and you are preparing to head out in the road to New York City.

In either option, it will be about two weeks for the repairs and resupply to be done.

I am of the opinion that unless we totally botch the rolls we won't have any trouble with four vampires, and if we dice out the fight all it will do is give the vamps a chance to get lucky.

That being said, I'm good with skipping on to the trip to New York and eventually Germany.

I will post when Real Life allows (I am not out of the woods yet; my fever broke this morning).
