Fantasy Protectors

Selene shook her head and shrugged, looking helplessly around the room.

"I don't know if he ate anything." She said. "You think he's been poisoned?" She asked.

Azure took another step back, now eyeing Luna warily. He tried to think of something he could use as a shield if things escalated, and several sturdy doors came to mind but none seemed strong enough, judging by the targets around the area, to hold back what these girls could do.

The heat was starting to get to Luna, but she wouldn't back down just yet. Luna took a few steps back. A glowing circle appeared under her. It had all sorts of designs on it. Luna crouched down and jumped up. Just as she moved upward, she was shot high in the air. Her body was surrounded by a blizzard and she then plummeted towards Tig her foot out in front of her aimed diagnel towards Tig's legs. This attack would not damage Tig in a major way. Luna had lowered her attack skill just enough to knock Tig back about 10 feet.

Henry nodded, "Thats exactly what I think. Though I can't be sure. We may not have much time it that is the case. Kydlin you know Hunter best. Does he usaly eat breakfast?"

Kydlin thought hard. "Sometimes yes," she answered. Henry chewed on his lip.

"Okay. I'll have to work with that. Until then I suggest you two find out who in this camp tried to posion him," he said grimly.

Tig moved out of the way quickly her flames growing hotter. If Luna tried to kick her she would get burnt and that was nothing Tig wanted to do to a fellow apprentice.

Luna landed on the ground. The attack was a miss. Luna sunk her temperature every second to match Tig's heat. If Tig raised her temperature to 200 degrees *F then Luna would sink her temperature to -200 degrees *F. Luna summoned a mass of ice partials and shot them at Tig. They would shatter before the did any real damage just because this was sparring.

Tig responded with a ball of fire to meet the shards. When she just barely was able to stop it from hitting Luna she knew it was time to end the battle. "Lets stop for now," she said as the flame slowly started to ebb away.

Luna's blizzards and sparks calmed down into nothing. Her eyes stopped glowing. She then sat down on the ground and fell onto her back so she was laying down. "I want some pizza now." She said. "And maybe to watch some anime on a fluffy bean bag." Luna was back to her tiered chilled mind set.

Selene nodded, and turned to leave. She paused outside, looking around. There were so many people. Where could they even start? She spotted the trainees cooling down after a match and started to run towards them. Azure was staring at the girls, his mouth hanging open.

"How..." He muttered, then spoke up a bit. "How can you just chill after that!? That was epic!" He exclaimed as Selene arrived with a worried look on her face.

"Kids, we need your help." She told them.

Luna looked over at Azure from the ground. " I don't know. I guess fights make me want pizza. It is the cost of epicness." Luna said in a random British accent. "Plus, it's takes up to much energy." Luna put her hands behind her head. Suddenly Selene came over to them with a worried look on her face."Kids, we need your help." She told them. Luna sat up. "What'cha need?" Luna asked.

Azure laughed, but was a bit confused by the accent, before turning his attention to Selene.

"Hunter's been poisoned." Selene told them after taking a deep breath. She ignored Azure's shout of surprise and continued. "A doctor's tending to him, but we need to find who did it. We have no leads." She looked at Tig. "He's in Medical if you want to see him, but I wouldn't recommend it."

Luna's chilled mind set turned into a bit of a serious one. She stood up. "Where was he these last three days?" Luna asked. "I might be able to pick up any old scent that anyone left behind. Also do you have a sample of the poison?" Luna asked.

Tig gasped. Who would do this! It was all she could do to take Selene's advice and not go to see him. The flame returned to her eyes dangerously for a moment. "Is he going to be okay? " she asked fighting the anger away. They had been playing around while Hunter was hurt. She shook her head angirly.

Selene shrugged, feeling a little overwhelmed at the questions.

"We think he was poisoned this morning, in whatever he ate. We have no idea what he ate though." She told Luna, before turning to Tig as Azure ran towards Medical. "I'm sorry Tig, I don't know. I don't know about medicine."

Azure burst into the medical area and glanced at Hunter before rushing over to a shelf of boxes and started rifling through them.

"Have we got any charcoal?" He asked Henry.

"Sorry about that." Luna said seeing she asked to much. "Maybe the scent is still in the kitchen? Even if he ate it and threw it away, the scent would linger."

Selene nodded and waved away Luna's apology.

"Well, we haven't got any other leads, so try it." She instructed Luna, giving her a reassuring smile despite how uneasy she felt.

Luna began to make her way to the kitchen. When she go there she began to try and make out a scent of poison anywhere.

"Maybe it wasn't someone from camp," Tig suggested hopefully, "A decimator could've snuck in," she said.

Henry looked up surprised. "Yes... In the drawl over there," he nodded to a cabnit by his desk. "Why?" He asked as Hunter jerked fitfully. Henry bit his lip. He delt more with injuries not posions.

Azure pulled open the draw using more fore than necessary. He found the charcoal and checked the packet. It seemed fine.

"If his body hasn't absorbed all the poison, this will get rid of the stuff in his stomach." Azure told him, holding out the charcoal for Henry. "I don't know how to get him to eat it." He told him.

Selene nodded again, trying to focus on the problem at hand.

"People probably would have assumed that they were a new recruit." She agreed, then ran her hand over her face. She was not qualified to deal with this. Hell, she never even went to college! She was actually qualified to deal with very little. She gritted her teeth as she thought. "That means that they probably would have left by now."

Tig punched a near by tree in frustration. "We have to retaliate!" she growled angirly. "They tried to kill Hunter,"

Henry nodded, "I can get him to do that," he said now smiling. Had this apprintence ever thought about being a medic? He sat Hunter up taking the charcoal and crunching it up the best he could. Next he grabbed some water and put the charcoal in. Then he gently poured the water into Hunter's mouth and forced it shut. Hunter struggled violently for a moment before finaly swallowing.

Selene gently placed a hand on Tig's shoulder and stared how down.

"Calm down, you'll work better when you're calm." She told her, then softened her voice a little bit. "Besides, we don't even know who did it. How about we go help Luna find them?" She suggested.

Azure leaned against the set of drawers, his fingers curling around the top so hard his knuckles went white. He took a deep breath, then let it go in a sigh.

"Worst way to spend a birthday, huh?" He nervously joked, giving Kydlin a half hearted smile.

Tig took a deep breath then slowly let it out. "I guess you're right." she looked to where Luna had dissapeared. "Lets go find her then,"

Kydlin let her eyes leave Hunter to looked at Azure sympathetically. "Remind me to get you a cake after this," she said returning his smile. "Thank you," she added queitly.

Luna continued to track a smell till she got a very faint whiff of something toxic. It was by the sink, on the very corner of the sink was a small drop of a green substance. "Hey guys, come here." Luna said urgently.

Selene nodded at Tig, trying to act comforting. She heard Luna calling and jogged over, motioning for Tig to follow. She stopped in the kitchen and waited for Tig.

"I meant Hunter." Azure told her, he glanced at his feet then back up. "You bought that cake for him yesterday, right?" he said, thinking back to when Kydlin found him and Luna in the bakery. His brow creased in confusion. "Am I remembering that right?" He asked.

Kydlin felt like an idiot. "Of course!" She said wincing. "I just thought it was your birthday as well." She frowned. "I just been kinda off lately. With everything thats happened I feel overwhelmed." her face was red with embarasment. Henry smiled at Kydlin and Azure's conversation.

"Its okay Kydlin. We've all been stressed. Thanks to Azure it looks like Hunter will be okay," he said with a small smile. He felt sympathetic for her. No one knew her like Henry other than Hunter. Henry was her father after all. It was easy to tell that his daughter was hopelesly in love with Hunter. It was just like her to have a scrambled mind since Hunter was in danger.

Tig followed after her and looked around the kitchen, "you found something?" She asked comming to stand by Luna.
