Duskull took the hit like a champ, but the small amount of damage was still considerable due to Duskull's low HP. Duskull disappeared again and reappeared behind the Charmander, hitting it with it's arm things again. The Duskull disappeared again and reappeared, this time by it's trainer's side. @eclipsehowls

Okay we got an attack in. "Charmander, use Dragon Claw."

Charmander's claws became surrounded by a light green energy, striking at the Duskull but the effects of three battles were wearing the Pokemon down. Iris watched, knowing this could go either way but was confident, no matter the outcome that they had done their best. She just hoped that Charmander wouldn't get upset if they lost like when battling Pidgey. @zacharychi

Duskull waited and did not take the hit all that well. Not only was it more than twice as powerful as Ember, but it was a critical hit. "Duskull, put all your remaining strength into this attack, I don't think you can take another hit." Zachary said, closing his eyes. "Duskull! Use Feint Attack!" Zachary said as Duskull quickly disappeared and reappeared behind Charmander, putting a large amount of strength into this one attack. @eclipsehowls

Charmander was panting as he finished with the attack and didn't have time to dodge as the next Feint Attack hit him. The Pokemon staggered slightly afterward for a few moments before fainting. Iris stood there in disbelief that she had lost before rushing to her Charmander. "Charmander. You okay?"

"Char," said Charmander but made no move to get up though he opened his eyes.

"That's okay. We gave it our best and that's the important thing,"
she said. "Starly return. Charmander return," she said pointing both poke balls at her Pokemon. She stood up, the two shrunken poke balls in one hand as she looked at Zachary. "That was fun! Congrats on your win," she said to him. Putting the poke balls at her waist, she walked over to Zachary and held out her hand. "We should battle again when our Pokemon are stronger. I'm heading to Viridian City." @zacharychi

"Well, I'm going to head into Viridian to see if I can get any cool footage. I'll be in town, so when you're ready to find me. Lemme know!" Warren shut off his camera. "Come on growlithe! Let's go!" Warren ran off, his growlithe following behind him.

He made his way to the entrance of Viridian and saw a man with a Pokemon. Without him knowing, he took the pokemon's profile with his pokedex. "Pincer huh...? Cool!" Warren walked up to the man

"Hey mister! Do you mind if I record some footage of your Pokemon?"

@Ahara

Zachary ran up to his Duskull, one of the Duskull's arms raised for a high five. "Great job! I knew the training would pay off!" Zachary said joyfully, "You did good, too." He said to Iris. "Hmm? Viridian city? I was going to start my journey sometime soon, I'll ask my mom if I can start it today." He said. @eclipsehowls

Iris watched him before nodding. "Thanks. That was a hard battle. Charmander's Scratch attack going through Duskull took us both by surprise." Surprised at the offer, she decided maybe it was best to travel with someone. Especially with that weird stranger guy from earlier. Brushing it off, she smiled. "That would be fun. I was thinking of traveling on my own but...I guess it'd be safer to travel with someone and...make a friend?" she asked hopefully. "I can wait here while you go talk to your mom." @zacharychi

<p>Tokorev turned around quickly to see a young boy with a video camera approaching him. What did he say? He wants to take a video of his pokemon? <span style="color:#ff0000;">"No...no I don't think that would be good kid. My pokemon is camera shy." </span><span style="color:#000000;">He couldn't risk his face or his pokemon being recorded. At least not yet. </span></p>

"Ok, I'll be back in a minute!" Zachary said, returning his Duskull to it's ball. He speed walked back to his house and asked his mom if he could start his journey. "Ok, just get your stuff and tell your sister goodbye." His mom said. Zachary got a backpack with a jacket, a few Poke balls, a few potions, some food, and extra clothes. He said goodbye to sister, both siblings glad they no longer had to deal with each other. He decided to stop at the Poke Center and get his Duskull healed up, and then went back to Iris. "I'm ready to start my journey!" He said excitedly. "Though I think you should heal your Pokemon up before we go into the Viridian Forest." @eclipsehowls

In the time it took for Zachary to leave and come back, Iris had packed up the few supplies she had used already and had her backpack on her shoulders, standing off the path in case the trio she had met before beginning her journey came along. Mentioning healing her Pokemon in Pallet momentarily confused her before she remembered a Pokemon Center had finally been built in Pallet Town (since there was none in the anime/games-we'll go with that excuse). "I forgot there was a Pokemon Center now," she said, her cheeks tinging pink in embarrassment. "Idiot," she muttered to herself. "I'll be back as quick as I can. Thanks for the reminder!" she shouted as she ran past him and back down the route into Pallet Town before turning right.

Rushing through the automatic doors of the Pokemon Center, she spotted Nurse Joy. "Nurse Joy, could you please heal my Pokemon?"

"Of course," said Nurse Joy, waiting for Iris to set the two poke balls in a ball tray before take them into a back room to be healed. It was a ten minute wait during which Iris paced the lounge but she was finally called up to the front desk. "Here you are. They're both fit and ready to go. Good luck on your journey."

"Thank you Nurse Joy," said Iris, taking her poke balls back. Putting them at her waist, she ran outside and back to Route 1 before running down it, hoping that Zachary hadn't left. @zacharychi

(I completely forgot the Kanto map, I apologize. I thought we were in Viridian City going to the Viridian forest. I also thought Pewter city was called Viridian city.)

"Yo!" Zachary said, excited to start a journey with a new friend. "Are you sure you're ready? If you forget something in the middle of our journey we'd be pretty screwed." @eclipsehowls

(That's alright.)

Iris nodded. "Yeah, I'm ready to go. I triple checked everything this morning and double checked last night to make sure I had everything ready for my journey. My parents weren't happy about being woken up past dawn." Humming, she resumed her walk down Route 1. @zacharychi

Zachary also started to walk down Route one. "So, what is your goal for this journey?" Zachary asked. "Mine is to become the Champion, what about you? You have a Pokedex, so I'm guessing you probably want to complete that. Hey, look! A Sentret!" Zachary said, pointing to the squirrel Pokemon. "I think that would make a good addition to my team." He said, sending his Duskull out. The Sentret moved first and used Scratch. Just like with Charmander, the claws went though Duskull. The Sentret looked confused and tried again, but with the same results. "Duskull, use Feint Attack!" He said as Duskull disappeared and reappeared, hitting the Sentret hard. The Sentret was startled by the hit and decided to use Foresight, but before it could now hit Duskull Zachary threw a Pokeball.

"Yes!" Zachary said as he sent the Sentret out. "Nice to meet you! I'm Zachary, and this is Duskull, welcome to the team!" He said as the Sentret looked around.

Iris stopped her humming to answer Zachary's question. "I want to become a Pokemon Master and maybe become a Pokemon Coordinator as well. Compete in the Indigo League by challenging the gyms in Kanto." She stopped to watch the battle, seeing the Sentret as it was pointed out to her. When the Pokemon was caught, she scanned the Sentret's poke ball.

"Sentret, the Scout Pokémon. Sentret is able to see great distances by rising up on its tail. When it spots an enemy, or any kind of danger, it emits a loud, shrill cry as a warning."

Putting her Pokedex away, she resumed her walking. "Now we're even with two Pokemon each. Why did you decide on Duskull?" she asked. She'd chosen Charmander because she knew had briefly read about Mega Evolution and knew it had two mega evolved forms and she liked fire-type Pokemon. @zacharychi

"Well, I had been waiting for the perfect Pokemon to go on my journey. On my seventh birthday it appeared and crashed the party. Something in my bones told me 'This is the one, the one that will carry your team.' And I listened to that feeling, and now my bones are telling me that Duskull will still carry me through my adventure." Zachary said, thinking back to his seventh birthday. "And since then I've been training Duskull, though I've never been able to come up with a good nickname for it." @eclipsehowls

Iris nodded. It seemed Pokemon chose their trainers or did trainers choose their Pokemon in strange ways. "Well it seems we both have good Pokemon that will far with love and hard work." At least, that is what she had been taught by her parents. It wasn't all about the trainer but more on the Pokemon and the bond between Trainer and Pokemon that brought out the best in both. @zacharychi

"Yeah, but what's more important? Love will drive your Pokemon to obey you, while training makes them stronger. What do you think?" Zachary asked.

"I'm not sure," said Iris thoughtfully. "I know getting stronger helps the Pokemon evolve and learn new moves but love is also important because a cruel trainer who doesn't care for their Pokemon," like Mr. Ketchum, "will be hurt and possibly run away and become wild. I guess I can't really pick one or the other." @zacharychi

"I guess that's right." Zachary said, "Hey, we're at Viridian City!" He said, running up to the city. "I heard there are some Pokemon around here, maybe we can train against them." @eclipsehowls

Iris nodded as she looked around the city. Training and maybe she would find a water Pokemon as well to add to her team. She looked around her, seeing a Pokemon Center nearby. She decided to make her way to the Pokemon Center to register for the Indigo League and the Grand Festival. "I think we register for the Pokemon League in the Viridian Pokemon Center," she said to Zachary. @zacharychi

"Ok, I thought that we do it somewhere else." Zachary said, walking into the Pokemon center. "Excuse me, but is this where we register for the Indigo League?" He asked the Nurse Joy.

(Since I don't remember if it was Viridian or Vermillion City...I'll just say Viridian City. And the Indigo League page on Bulbapedia doesn't help.)

Nurse Joy looked up, her Chancey hanging out behind the counter. "Yes it is. Trainers can register for the Pokemon League as well as the Kanto Grand Festival here."

Iris breathed a sigh of relief that she'd gotten something right and walked up to the front desk. "I'd like to register for the Pokemon League and the Grand Festival," she said.

"Alright. Just hand me your Pokedex and I'll register you for both."

Iris pulled out her Pokedex and handed it to Nurse Joy who slid the Pokedex into a slot in the computer. Iris's picture, age, hometown and Starter Pokemon came up on the screen. She typed a few buttons and handed the Pokedex back to Iris before turning around to get a badge case and a ribbon case, handing them to the young trainer. "Now you'll need to win eight badges to get into the Pokemon League. The first gym is in Pewter City and to get into the Kanto Grand Festival, you need to win five contest ribbons. A contest occurs in a month at Saffron City. The Grand Festival will take place at the Indigo Plateau's Contest Hall. Good luck."

Iris put her Pokedex into her pocket before putting her badge case and ribbon case into her backpack. Now that she was registered, she had to find a third Pokemon and start training. @zacharychi

"Do you need a Pokedex to register for the Indigo League and the Grand Festival?" Zachary asked, looking around. He saw some memorabilia for past League Champions. @eclipsehowls

"Yes you do," said Nurse Joy. "Professor Oak should have given you one before starting out on your journey. But if you don't have one, I can have him send one over." Iris meanwhile had gotten a map of the Kanto Region as well as a guidebook from a table in the lobby and two lists, one with the Pokemon Gyms and one with the Kanto Contests for further use. @zacharychi

"Will the Pokedex be here instantly? I can run there quickly, as to not hassle him." Zachary said, ready to run there. @eclipsehowls
