Marcus continued to clean up the mess that had been made. He groaned, picking up the dust pan and sweeping the last of the glass into it. He stood back up and walked over to the trash can that was next to his desk. As he tipped the pan so the glass fell in, he looked over to the chemicals on the floor. He knelt down, pulling a pair of gloves out of his coat and putting them on. He reached one finger forward to touch the silvery concoction, hoping he didn't burn his fingers off in the process.
It was not hot at all. Instead, it felt rather cool, like it was made of metal. He frowned, grabbing a piece of the mixture and lifting it up. It stayed straight in the middle and where it had mixed for a decent amount of time. But, where the chemicals were both mixing, it was drooping and dripping to the floor. He stared at it with interest, and grabbed a plastic bag from a drawer in his desk. He placed the mixture in, hoping that he would have time in the near future to observe it. As long as nothing came out of nowhere and tried to kill him, like beasts or other pirates.
"Why hello there!" Marcus whipped around. "I don't suppose you would mind being test subjects, would you?" Marcus, instinctively, jumped forward, standing between the mysterious man and Mairi. He grabbed his knife from it's sheath at his side, unclipping it and drawing it, pointing it at the man like it was a fencing saber.
Marcus kept his free hand out to the side, but bent enough that he could reach into his coat and grab his vials or syringes if need be. He narrowed his eyes at the newcomer, looking him over quickly. He wore a lab coat, so the possibility of him being a scientist was very probable. The needle in his hand only fueled Marcus's suspicions, but he kept his demeanor calm and cool. He spoke lowly, his body tense. "I'm afraid not, buddy...You don't seem like someone who practices the safe side of science." His eyes flicked past him quickly, to see if he had company. Seeing as he didn't have immediate back-up, Marcus relaxed slightly. "Who the hell are you and why are you on this ship? Tell me your name before I send you off in tiny pieces."
