Down in the treasure room Tora dumped out all the gold coins in her guitar case. For the next couple minutes all she heard was the sound of falling coins. After giving her case a final shake to make sure it was empty, Tora put her guitar back in the case and placed it over her shoulder. She grimaced when the case touched the scratch on her shoulder. Her injuries might not be the most severe out of the ones sustained from the crew, but they were still a little sore.

Tora walked back up to the Charybdis' deck while whistling A Pirate's Life For Me. She continued whistling as she made her way into Marcus' medical room. Tora took a seat on one of the beds and gently dropped her guitar case on the floor between her legs. She twisted her back toward Marcus, showing him the sword-caused scratches. One scratch was on her lower back and the other was on the back of her right shoulder.

"Good thing I'm not a swordsman, otherwise I wouldn't stand scars on my back," she said with a smirk. "You may want to patch up the others first through," she added, looking concerned. She then started to hum an upbeat tune as she waited for the doctor to act. Tora needed to figure out a good sailing song. As a musician it was her job after all.

ARC 1: SCYLLA AND CHARYBDIS

PROLOGUE ARC: THE ISLAND OF CANNIBALS

ARC 2: MORAL CODE

Wounds had been tended and everything about the ship was about as well in order as it was ever going to get before Charybdis set sail. For the most part, it was uneventful. Ralph had been crying as they left him on shore and sailed away, leaving him to find his injured crewmates on his own or to sit there and wait for his crew to find him. No one in the crew really seemed to care about the estranged doctor who had become Marcus and Mairi’s prisoner for a short amount of time. Everyone had been content to watch him sail away.

What followed was two very simple days at sea. Everyone was kind of left to fend for themselves as far as cooking was concerned, but everything else seemed to handle itself. Norman was leading the way with other crew members occasionally taking a go at the helm although Scarlet made sure Norman was around enough that no one person could get them off course to any major degree.

Overall, the two days were uneventful at best. Everyone was filled with anticipation though. They only had one stop before the Grand Line and if everything went well there, the hunt for the One Piece was within sight.

Arrival at the Docks

Scarlet made sure she was the first one to jump off of Charybdis once they were officially docked at Cananimal Island. She was also the first, therefore, to look around. The docks seemed fairly empty. Well, maybe empty wasn’t a good word for it. They were void of people. There were plenty of ships present, both merchant and marine, currently harbored in the docks. “Where do you guys think everyone went?” she asked the rest of her crew curiously. “Maybe a cannibal ate them!?” Scarlet seemed excited by that idea.

She didn’t take the time to wait and see if they had any suggestions, though. Scarlet could hear the distant ringing of bells and she had no doubt in her mind that the rest of the crew could hear them too. “Come on! Come on! COME ON!” she beckoned excitedly to the rest of her crew. “Let’s go see what’s going on! Come on!” Even as Scarlet waved for them to follow, the splint on her wrist was entirely obvious and it became clear that even injured, she had no intentions of being careful.

Considering her excitement, it had probably been a good thing she had already assigned tasks to her crew members before they had arrived because at this moment in time, Scarlet had completely forgotten that they had a reason for being on Cananimal Island. They needed supplies.

Scarlet had broken them up into some smaller groups. She hadn’t been sure if Mairi or Marcus needed any herbs or anything like that so she had assigned the two of them to work together exploring the forest of the island. Maybe they could find something interesting and she didn’t want it to ever be said that she wasn’t the leader of a crew of explorers. Tora and Gali had been assigned the role of handling the money and Scarlet made sure that Tora was given a list of everything they needed. Most of it was food and general maintenance supplies. That left Johnny, Clay and Norman along with Scarlet herself. Since she knew Clay probably wouldn’t want to do anything anyway, Scarlet had assigned him to stay and watch the ship. Johnny and Norman would join her in simply exploring and the first place she wanted to go was to the bells. Ringing bells usually meant something was happening.

During the day that had passed on Cananimal Island itself, the events were quiet and an air of mystery seemed to set in. Xiao and Wasabi would’ve come to the conclusion that Josiah was missing. For some odd reason, Xiao couldn’t smell him anymore. While that may have been highly suspicious, it also planted one small thought - he probably wasn’t dead and buried somewhere. Xiao would’ve been able to smell him had that been the case.

The remaining explorers, hunters and seekers of adventure on the island would find that as the village slowly filled with people, the prospect of leaving the island with any one of the merchant ships grew exponentially. Of course, it wouldn’t be as easy for those who had bounties on their heads, such as Aries and Wes, simply because as the general population on the island grew in preparation for the coming execution, so did the expansive marine presence.

One marine in particular would make his presence very well known on the island. He walked around, talking to the shop-owners in a way that contrasted him to the common stereotype of marines that many people seemed to believe. He was trying to be friendly and never once did anyone see him try to be intimidating or frightening. Some of the individuals who found themselves temporarily stuck on the island would’ve caught his name if they listened close enough - Allistair Lenox. Watching him carefully would show he made occasional visits to the marine base although he seemed to steer clear of it for the most part which probably seemed rather odd. Perhaps he didn’t want to interfere with the coming execution, though. In fact, that was it.

Although the inns on the island seemed to be filling, any of the island visitors who wanted to stay and also happened to have the coin to pay for it would’ve been welcomed. Others would have been profusely rejected, just as they would have in any other situation as well.

The Village

As the bells started ringing, townspeople poured out of their homes and into the main square of the village - the village that, oddly enough, didn’t seem to have a name. Entering into the square from the path that led to the marine base, four marines were escorting the renowned pirate known as Kotone Velvet. Her hands were linked together by manacles as were her ankles and each marine that surrounded her was more than adequately armed. Following behind her and also being led into the main square was another prisoner - Leia Vanguardin. She was only assigned the escort of two marines although her hands and feet were bound similarly to Kotone.

“Kill the pirate!” “She’s a thief!” “Kill the traitor along with her!” “Long live the marines!”

It was the typical thing you would hear at an execution although most of it was probably people who had been planted by the marines on the crowd to ensure that the rest of the people believed that the actions of the marines were legitimate and justified. Sure enough, other people soon joined in with the individuals who had started the screaming, nearly rioting in rage that a pirate had even been allowed to walk on the sandy beaches of their island.

One of the pirates standing next to Kotone put his hand on the back of her head, shoving her to her knees as he scowled, “Ready to die, pirate scum!?”

“Now, now, play nicely,” another voice sounded from a nearby marine who seemed to be supervising the overall prisoner escort. He had dark black hair and was dressed in a black button down shirt and black pants - not the typical marine garb. “She’ll die soon enough. Don’t worry.” He had a single long sword hanging on his hip and although his hand never touched it, it’s presence was ominous. “Besides, Hannibal has requested we kill the traitor first.” His gaze flickered to the rather large man standing at the base of the tower that would display the executions of the day.

Leia Vanguardin flinched behind Kotone and the marines holding her as she heard what the taller man had to say. She had been fairly quiet since both her and Kotone had been dragged out of their cells.

A few more prominent marines stood around the square. Allistair Lenox was among them, standing off to the side. He didn’t wear anything in particular that marked him as a marine although anyone who had been around for the past day would recognize him as someone who had been dressed in marine clothing only a day prior. The rest of the marines appeared very nearly identical, creating a perimeter around the town square although it seemed that they weren’t really watching who came or left from the square - not really. Their presence was more a formality than anything else.

A Peculiar Smell

There was one rather odd thing that only Xiao could possibly pick up on although it wasn’t quite far enough off the beaten track for it to be impossible for someone else to stumble upon it. It smelled like rotting flesh, but at the same time, the smell of fresh fruit was mixed in which didn’t help; it made it worse. If Xiao followed the smell, or if anyone else happened to stumble upon what happened to lie at the end of the trail, they would encounter pieces of flesh. No bones remained - or at least, no bones could be seen - and there were two of Cananimal Island’s famous cannibal ravens pecking off each other’s feathers while they also seemed to be nibbling away at the random pieces of skin.

Hi guys!

This is the start of Arc 2: Moral Code. It’s gonna be fun! That much I can promise. I’ve established a few situations that can be explored further.

If your character is already a Red Ribbon Pirate, I recommend getting started on doing the job Scarlet assigned to you although Scarlet probably doesn’t care if you explore first. She’s too excited to pay attention, anyway. Your characters will likely head into town (unless your character is Clay who was told to guard the ship) and then it is nearly impossible that they will NOT notice the impending executions.

If your character started in Prologue Arc: The Island of Cannibals (i.e. IC Rping 2), then chances are you are in the main square either hiding from marines (if you are wanted) or investigating things that happened within the prologue arc, or… you could really be anywhere on the island, honestly. The only place you CANNOT be is the marine base itself. It is heavily guarded right now and you would NOT get through. Don’t question me on this one, please.

Let me know in the OOC if you have any questions. As of this point, everyone should be roleplaying in the main IC because it is possible for characters to randomly run into each other now. In fact, this is encouraged.

Johnny Chrome

Johnny had jumped on the dock after Scarlet. He had spent too much time in the storage room of the ship, that when he saw the sun, he couldn't help but let out a small hiss. His hoodie was light green with a black skull on it, as his pants and boots were the same as always. This time, he had his backpack with him, along with his bow.

His eyes looked at Scarlet. "Maybe it's a celebration?" His left hand went to rub the right one, looking around. When he heard cannibal, he couldn't help but laugh a little. "D-Don't be ridiculous. We may have fought a giant monster, but a cannibal sounds too far fetched captain." He smiled gently, not wanting to appear rude. Johnny never called his captain by her name.

Johnny smiled more, looking back at Norman. "You heard the captain. Let's go." He winked in his direction and quickly darted after Scarlet. He kept his bow on his back, and one hand on one brace of the backpack, the smiley face pin on it sometimes reflecting the light the sun made. His boots made some splashing sounds, as they have gotten water in them so much since he had first put them on. Johnny was considering buying a new pair, but he always taught he would need the money sometimes, so he had a small saving apart.

Captain Scarlet Indigrid and Norman Newman

The last couple days had been crazy, even to Norman. Or, kinda to Norman, but that would make them crazy to anybody else for sure. The treasure they had been hunting for on that island turned out to be baby sea monster eggs, which was unfortunate. Because then he didn’t even get to fight the sea monster. Which was a big disappointment, but Norman wasn’t going to go against his Captain’s orders without a very good reason.

Then it turned out he had been shot, which he kinda forgot about. It didn’t seem important to Norman, but everyone else was at least kinda worried about it. Marcus nearly lost it in fact, and it was a long argument against him to not check under his scarf as well. Marcus learned very well how stubborn Norman was about it for future endeavors. Fortunately the bullet wound didn’t seem to be too serious, but Marcus, being all doctorly or whatever, prompted caution about the wound.

As you might guess, Norman didn’t exactly exercise said caution. He was hanging from the mast and navigating upside down in no time. He couldn’t barely contain his excitement about getting to go to Cananimal Island. It’s where he wanted to go in the first place after all! There were probably tons of dangerous and fun creatures, and people, and maybe even plants! He was going to fight as many as he could.

This excitement was both reduced and redoubled when they arrived on the island. He was put in a group with Johnny and Scarlet to go explore the island. While the exploring part sounded great, he wasn’t so sure how fun it’d be with Scarlet the “no monster fighting” person. She’d probably talk about toy boys again or something. Whatever those were. However he prepared to have a fun time anyways.

Having stored all his favorite things in his ashes, and donned some new clothes to blend in, he felt like he was ready to go. Especially with his cool red and black scarf around his face. It was one of his favorites, and had been since he got it. It had little guys fighting each other on it with various weapons. As per usual it left only the top portion of his nose and his eyes visible. And that was just the way he liked it.

He stepped from one foot to the other in excitement as Scarlet and Johnny began to disembark. He gave a happy look to Scarlet and a disappointed one to Johnny as they discussed the possibility of cannibals having eating the inhabitants of the dock. “Well, of course cannibals are possible Johnny. It’s CANANIMAL Island. there are cannibals all over it. And I am going to fight them. Preferably many of them at the same time so I can have some real fun. Unlike that sad shirtless guy from before, talk about boring.” He basically leapt down to the dock after Scarlet and Johnny. “So where to first, Captain?”

“We’re gonna follow the bells!” Scarlet proclaimed it rather loudly. “Bells mean people and people mean fun… Hey Norman! What’s all supposed to be on this island anyway!?”

“What’s supposed to be on the island? Cannibals! People eating things too. Since someone told me cannibals normally eat other things like themselves man eating plants don’t count,”
he frowned when mentioning this. A shift in his scarf and a dimming of his eyes were all that gave it away though. “BUT but, there are those too. I heard there is this big plant that can eat an entire man in ONE bite. I mean, how cool is that?!”

“Well, I knew that much, dummy!” Scarlet reached out and gently smacked Norman on the top of the head with her non splinted hand. “Not the plant thing, but I know what a cannibal is. I meant what kind o’ people are here?! Maybe we can find some new crewmates…” Her jaw dropped at her own idea.

Norman made a sound of surprise as his Captain smacked him on the head. It didn’t really hurt, but it was instinctive to respond like that anyway. “Ok ok geez. Yeah there’s people here. There’s a um… town here. You won’t see many elderly people as they tend to get eaten pretty easily. And I remember something about bounty hunters or something liking to pass through here to the Grand Line. Mainly because the Marine base though. But don’t worry, I hear the Marines here aren’t all that strong. I can take ‘em.” He stood proudly as if ready to battle hundred of marines single handed.

“THERE’S MARINES!?” Scarlet seemed overly joyed by the idea. There were too many ideas for her to fully address them all right now. “That means… THAT MEANS… I can finally tell ‘em that I’M gonna be Queen of the Pirates!!” Without further delay, Scarlet grabbed Johnny’s hand and waved for Norman to follow her as she took off running, all three of them on the path that would lead them into the lone village on Cananimal Island.

Tora the Fishwoman Hybrid

The last couple days of sailing were fun for Tora. She pitched in where she could, but if she wasn't scarfing down food or helping out with ship work, she was singing or swimming. She sang many ship shantees, folk songs, and the occasional drinking song from her home island. "The winds from the West are freshening nigh, the sun's on the rise, not a cloud in the sky. Our bow greats the wave, the spray passes by as we cast our cares to the water. Then it's hard on the wheel, fast on the sheets, the snap of the sails to woodword we beat. We slide in the groove, take a turn on the cleat, and time stands still on the water..." was part of one of the songs she sung.

Arrival at the Docks

Feeling fresh in a blue and silver plaid bikini top, her black aquatic shots, and black sandals; her hair bobbed under her red bandanna as she danced on deck singing a pirate docking song. "Now we are ready to sail for the horn. Weigh hey, roll and go. Our boots and our clothes, boys, are all in the pawn to be rollicking randy dandy-O..." Once the ship docked she continued to sing as the anchor and other docking procedures were being taken care off.

A giggle fit stopped her singing after witnessing Scarlet's eagerness to explore. "Aye, aye Captain. You can count on Gali and me." She turned to look at her partner for the shopping mission. "Let's go, partner." With her guitar securely in its case on her back and list in hand, Tora made her way off of the ship and toward the sound of the town bell. Tora started to hear a commotion coming from a large crowd as she walked toward the town alongside Gali. At the time Tora wasn't close enough to make out what the crowd was saying. "I wonder what this commotion is all about..." she said to Gali.

Gali Way

A loud squawk was heard from Gali's cabin, and suddenly, the golden parrot Reky burst through the door, sailing up in the air. From the dark room, Gali walks out, an annoyed expression painted on his well rested but still grouchy face.

"Stupid bird doesn't understand the concept of an alarm clock. That doesn't mean you screech in my ear!"

He grouchily swings his sword inside it's sheath, and he jumps down off the ship, since everyone else was off the ship. Of course, their confident and optimistic, but forgetful captain was there first. Thankfully, he already knew what he had to do. This time, he was paired up with Tora, which was exciting, since he hasn't worked with the fishwoman yet.

"Yeah, you can count on us captain. We'll get everything that's needed."

He nods as he follows the girls out into the town. He looks around, his blue eyes once in a while glowing, signifying he was still a bit restless. Even though it wasn't too long ago, he was still itching for another battle. He didn't want to get dull in his skills, so any opportunity would be fine by him. Seeing what Tora was pointing out, he hums, a little confused as well.

"Yeah, you are right, that is a bit strange. I thought the Canamal Islands were peaceful. Probably just some pirates getting all rowdy. Wanna check it out?"

Johnny Chrome

Johny's eyes widened at the news.
"... I taught it was because of animals. Hey, I said I wished for something exotic, but this is ridiculous." Johnny smiled a little, looking at Norman. "Leave some for me too, ok? I really got rusty since I last fought." He smiled softly when he saw Scarlet smack Norman in the head. "I like that idea. The more the merrier right?" He smiled bright

"I think they took the expression 'eat me' too literal. Bounty hunters huh? Well, we could pass as bounty hunters." When Norman mentioned marines, the color on Johnny's face faded. He taught they were a little too weak to fight the marines, plus, he feared one marine captain over all, him teaching Johnny how to properly fight using a bow.

Johnny even ignored the fact that his captain wanted to announce she was the Pirate Queen, a thing that would bring every marine on them. His stare was a thousand yards one, being like taken out of this word to remember the face and stature of the captain. He shook his head, the memories fading away and reality coming back to him, as Scarlet's hand grabbed his and she began dragging him. His other hand went to his bow as he tried to keep up with Scarlet.
'She does have a lot of energy.'

Xiao decided to stick close to Wasabi, while also keeping an eye on Josiah, so to say. He didn't try to spy the boy, but he used his enhanced sense of smell to always be sure of Josiah's position. Nonetheless, the boy's smell disappeared some time ago. Xiao also picked up a very strange smell, as if someone combined the smell of rotten flesh with that of fresh fruit. It was strange and he wanted to investigate it, but it was not his main priority. He needed to find Josiah, but there was something which he had to do before that.

Leia Vanguardin's execution was about to start that day, thus it was obvious that Xiao, being a creature with high moral values, could not let it happen. He walked towards the main square, where the execution would have taken place. Many people were gathered, most of them acting aggresively towards the poor woman. Such simple people, so easy to manipulate. The panda also saw some new faces as he walked towards the center of the village. These new people were all quite peculiar, but he wasn't one to talk. He was a giant panda who wore an embroidered silk robe, very big sandals and a conical straw hat. He only spared a few thoughts on them, though. The rescue of Josiah's mother was his main objective.

''Wasabi, I am sure you want to save this woman from her unjust fate as much as I do'' stated the panda, looking at the giant. ''Since we have a somewhat common objective, how about we cooperate?'' he asked afterwards. Xiao was not a hot-head, and he knew that the situation at hand called for an elaborate plan.

Forward Thinking

Wasabi's eyes clocked off in an odd direction, as if distracted. Only in the intensity of his gaze, which was sheltered by his rice hat, could one understand the wheels that turned in his mind. For a moment, his attention was captured as Xiao spoke. He dismissively scanned the horizon as he responded, "Oh... I apologize, I had already assumed we were going to do that. I gave her a promise, and I intend to keep it."

Taking a deep, cleansing breath, the giant continued, "Something tells me the Marines are in for more than they bargained for. Notice the quiet ones in the crowd. I would not depend on it, but I feel they will help us. I have located several weak points in the marines defense. Freeing her will not be the challenge. We should be able to break their lines with no trouble, but they will be able to catch us if we have nowhere to go."

Marcus Gaverenton and Mairi Kohaku

Marcus watched his captain from where he stood on deck, closing his book once more. He scowled at how she was just waving her arm around like it was fine. She never took injuries, even one’s as minor as she got out with, seriously, and it annoyed him to no end. “Captain, please! Be careful, would you?” He knew his words were lost to her as she bounded off the ship, and Marcus could only watch as she dragged along Norman and Johnny with her.

He sighed, placing his book under his arm and turning back to the door that lead to the inside of the ship. Everyone was getting set to do their jobs, and Marcus was no exception. He had to gather new medicine after what was lost during the crash of the ship. He made his way to his room, grabbing a shoulder bag from his coat hanger, as well as his lab coat, and threw them both on as he made his way back up the ship.

When he was back on deck, he looked around for the individual he was stuck with. He groaned. “Mairi! Get your ass out here so we can get going!

At the time Marcus called out for Mairi, she was below deck in her room. She was still set back ever since their last adventure where she lost most of her supplies. Worst of all, her greatest experiment was completely ruined and she had to start over. She wasn’t sure if this island would have the right materials she needed, but maybe she could find something better.

Hearing Marcus’ call, she slipped out of her lab coat in into the black jacket that she usually wore. “I’m coming!” she replied as she ascended the stairs. With the way that Marcus talked to her, she questioned just how close they really were. Back at the previous island, he seemed to care about her. Then again, she was hurt and he was a doctor. Maybe he was just doing his job.

Once Mairi arrived on deck, she looked at Marcus and said, "I always thought my hips were my most defining feature, but I guess everyone has their own preferences."

Marcus looked at Mairi, giving her a blank stare. A few seconds passed before Marcus understood what she meant. He groaned, rolling his eyes, and placed a hand on his forehead, shaking his head. "Honestly...how vulgar..." He turned away from Mairi, rubbing the tops of his ears to prevent Mairi from noticing any reaction to her statement.

He quickly adjusted his bag on his shoulder and pointed out past the town in front of them, towards the large forest in the distance. “The best place to find herbs and whatnot would be there. We could go and gather some from there, and make a roundabout back through the town and gather some medicine from any local clinics or pharmacies.” He pulled out a cigarette and placed it in his mouth, holding it between his lips as he pulled out his lighter from school. He flicked it a few times before it sparked, lighting the end of it so it glowed a light red.

He held out his pack to Mairi, shaking it slightly so the cigarettes inside could be heard. “I forgot my manners. Want one?

Mairi gently pushed the cigarette pack back to Marcus. “Not right now.” she said, “Smoking makes it too easy for the cannibals to find you.” Mairi had only overheard that there were cannibals from Scarlet, so she wasn’t sure whether or not it was true or not, but she wanted to stay on the safe side. After that, Mairi headed to the ship’s railing and jumped down to the dock below.

Marcus gave another drag on his cigarette, then pulled it out, blowing the smoke out into the salty sea air. He made his way to stand on the edge of the ship on it’s railing, looking again over to the town and the sound of bells. “Well...if there are cannibals, and they are attracted to smoking men who are close to their thirties, then they may be disappointed. I’ve been told I have stringy meat that tastes like ashes, most likely.” He dropped off the boat onto the dock, a thin smoke trail being left behind him.

"I don't think we have much of a choice," Tora said to Gali. "This may be the only village on the island, but if it isn't who knows where the next one is." As Tora approached the commotion with Gali, she began to make out a large crowd. Now the chanting became more clear to her. She quickly looked concerned as she heard 'Kill the pirate' and other worrisome phrases. On top of that it looked like the whole village was gathered. "I wonder if the shops are even open," she thought aloud.

Once in the mob of people, Tora could clearly see the execution sight, the Marines, a chained up pirate, and a chained up Marine. A chained up Marine? That couldn't be right. Tora had to take a second look at the cuffed Marine woman to figure out that her eyes weren't deceiving her. She clenched a fist. Tora could understand why a pirate was being executed, but a fellow Marine? That just seemed wrong to her.

Tora overheard Xiao and Wasabi. In her angered state she wanted to help the panda-man and his mountainous friend. She turned to Gali. "What do you think Gali?" she asked. "I know our Captain is relying on us for supplies, but I don't think she'd mind if we helped take a stand."

The Forest of Cananimal Island

As Marcus and Mairi would make their way into the forests of Cananimal Island, the forests that surrounded the village now swarming with people and the forests that concealed the marine base beyond that, there was not too much to attract their attention. Cannibal squirrels attacked each other as they scurried up a tree. One of them swiftly took a bite out of the other leaving a stream of blood to trickle down the bark. An odd growl escaped from the victorious squirrel as it started to eat up the body that remained. If they looked at the little cannibal squirrel closely, they would see that it’s eyes were brilliant red.

Although the island itself seemed overly odd with its animals that seemed to take joy from eating each other, Mairi would see a few things that were definitely familiar. Parsley, comfrey, lavender, chamomile… all of them seemed to have areas of abundance and all of them had their own usefulness.

However, amidst the abundance of herbs that would draw their attention, Marcus and Mairi would also see a bird. Though its feathers were black as a raven, it also bore the stain of blood as red streaks ran up and down its wings - clearly not a natural coloring for any bird that they would’ve expected to see. As the bird turned around, both Marcus and Mairi would see the one thing that could’ve possibly made the scene more disturbing than it already was. A human finger hung from its beak.

The Village

Scarlet stopped abruptly as soon as she saw the crowd gathered in the square and her eyes turned to Norman and Johnny. “This looks fun!” she remarked excitedly. “What do you think’s going on?”

With her hand still holding on to Johnny, Scarlet began to weave her way into the crowd that was gathered, listening to the calls of “Kill the pirate!” and “Burn the traitor!”. Her attention was being drawn closer and closer to the two marine captives and while she did find it odd that a marine seemed to be in chains, that wasn’t what Scarlet was most curious about. Her attention was focused completely on Kotone.

If Norman and Johnny were watching Scarlet closely, they would notice when she went completely silent and wandered off, not saying a word to them and not making a sound with each and every step she took. It was highly uncharacteristic of their captain and tended to only happen when she was really interested in something or other. If their attention, like hers, was distracted by something going on in the crowd or by the marines or by the two captives who seemed to be awaiting their execution, then it would not even cross their mind until they noticed that Scarlet was gone.

“Psst!” A voice whispered, coming from behind Kotone. “Psst! Over here!”

The marines holding Kotone had turned their attention to Ms. Leia Vanguardin, who they were now escorting up to the post. Her execution would obviously be first. Dakota Eimear still kept a close eye on the chained pirate although he was standing a few feet away. Escape wasn’t really an option. She’d be hopping and hobbling and surely someone would catch her before she got too far, but there was definitely more room for her to move around at that given moment in time.

If she turned around to look towards the voice, Kotone would see a girl. Thick black hair hung in organized tangles from her head, tied back by a long flowing red ribbon that was tied neatly in a bow. Blue eyes were complemented by a slight red tint in her cheeks and her black shirt tied loosely in the front of her. Though she carried no weapons, Scarlet had an air of confidence about her as she took a step closer to the chained pirate.

“You’re a pirate, right?! The one they’re all screaming about…?” The girl sounded rather enthusiastic about it. “So… what did you do?”

@BlacklegSanji

As Leia Vanguardin was escorted up to the post, marines slowly began to move inward, weaving their ways into the crowd of people with their eyes widened as they observed the observers. They watched for anyone who seemed as though they could be up to no good, who looked like they meant to cause trouble.

In particular, Hannibal Jones’ eyes fell upon the figure of Wasabi and although none of the men made to attack him directly, anyone watching would see that the tall man in the rice hat was definitely drawing marine attention. Two men positioned themselves on either side of Wasabi and Xiao. Again, they didn’t make any moves to attack the two of them, desiring to keep the execution uneventful if possible, but they were there nonetheless.

Something happened then that caused one of the marines to flinch. His hand fell to a gun that wasn’t very well concealed as he turned around at the sound of a voice - someone was tapping on Wasabi’s back. “Hi there, Mister!! Do you remember me?!” She held up a little reed dog that he had made her only a few days before. “You gave me Inu!”

Her attention seemed to be instantly distracted by Xiao, though, as she turned to reach out a hand to touch his furry body. “Why are you a panda?” she asked.

Throughout the square, there were a few shopkeepers who seemed to be deciding to make use of the gathered crowds of people. They opened up their shops selling various goods including weaponry for any visiting marines and various snacks and other food supplies. There was a small fisherman’s shop as well with an old man sitting in a rocking chair, seeming to be available to see his supplies, yet at the same time, he wasn’t putting a whole lot of effort into advertising.

Many places seemed to be emphasizing the supplies they had to offer that were beneficial on board ships seeing as a lot of people had traveled to the island by boat to get there in the first place.

One individual in particular walked up to one of the shops. Although he wore the hat of a marine, the remainder of his clothing was semi-professional and lacked any marine association. This was Alistair Lenox and he seemed to be interested in some salted candies.

Leia Vanguardin was forced onto a block and a noose was lowered around her neck and tightened. Hannibal Jones remained on the ground and he stepped forward, calling out to everyone so that they could hear. “Lieutenant Leia Vanguardin, you stand before the masses accused of murder of your husband, Lyle Vanguardin.”

Leia flinched at the accusation.

“You have been found guilty. Prepare for absolute justice.”

Charybdis

Chad Frenure was a newbie, a fairly fresh marine. As such, he hadn’t been invited to guard the square during the execution. He didn’t mind much anyway, though. The execution featured both the pirate, Kotone and the marine traitor, Leia Vanguardin. Although he had been through extensive reconditioning, Chad had been trained by Leia Vanguardin. He still felt a small amount of respect for her so he didn’t necessarily want to see her die.

So instead, he was content to wander the docks of the island. He looked over his checklist, making sure that all the ships that had checked in were accounted for. “Hmm,” he mumbled softly. He saw a ship that wasn’t on the list. While that wasn’t technically a problem, it was an oddity he hadn’t been prepared for.

Chad Frenure walked up to the ship before cautiously stepping on board. He wasn’t entirely sure if that was allowed or not, but he didn’t think anything TOO bad could come of it. “Hello!?” he called out onto the ship. “You don’t have permission to be docked here!! Anyone there!?”

Gilroy lazily follows Tora through the crowd, trying to see if they were able to comprehend on what was going on. His eyes peer around, searching for the cause of the commotion. The sheath of his sword was glinting in the sun, his earrings glinting and jingling around as he was trying to get a peek on the action. However, that wasn't working, so he just grits his teeth as he pulls his sword out of his sheath.

"Seems as though the only thing we can do is act out. The captain would want us to do this in the first place. Would you like me to cause a distraction, and you free them?"

After a few more glances, he was able to catch sight of the two prisoners. His eyes widened a little as he first saw the panda man. Was it a minkmen? He couldn't tell, since he never truly saw one in real life. He looks at the first prisoner, a pirate, of course. The second one shocked him a little more, as it was a marine. This made his blood boil. Sure, Gali didn't like the marines as much as the next pirates, but betraying a comrade?! This angered Gali, and he drew his sword as he started walking towards the crowd without a word.

Kotone Velvet

Kotone walked to the gallows as they had decided to kill her right here and now. She sighed looking at the Noose that hung down. She started to hum a song. A marine walking behind her carried her blades on his belt, claiming them as his own. She was escorted up by the platform before stopping. The Marine who had been in the cell next to her would die first and then her. She was prying for some stroke of luck, for someone to save her. "Psst! Over here!" Someone said. Kotone peaked around to see that a girl was speaking to her. "Yeah I'm a pirate, and I've killed marines. I'm Kotone Velvet, from the east blue. I don't know why your pestering me but I suggest you get out of here. This is going to get pretty ugly soon" She responded. The Marine who had stolen her swords stood close.

The cursed blade rested on his waist and Kotone eyed it carefully, and when he wasn't paying any attention to her she threw her body into his knocking him off balance. The Marine reached for his new blade but it was gone. When he looked Kotone was a few feet away from him with only one of her blades, the other still on the marines belt. But even so she had managed to jam the sword into the lock of the handcuffs and break the lock, leaving the lock dangling from one of her hands as they were freed from her restraints. she twirled her blade around. "I'll be taking my other blade back as well" she said as charged at the marine full speed as he drew his blade. The marine drew her other balde and blocked her attack. Soon she was surrounded by Marines. "Well shit, this day is't going good at all" she said as she stood in a ready position to fight.

As per usual, the red-haired bum of the Red Ribbon Pirates was lounging around Charybdis, having been granted the luxury of staying behind to guard the ship while everyone else went out to explore. He was enjoying this free time, taking in the weather of the island, and simply doing nothing.

That was until he heard a sound that would quickly capture his attention.

“Hello!? You don’t have permission to be docked here!! Anyone there!?”

As he was looking out into the sea before the voice made him jump in place, Clay whipped his head behind him to see that a random soul had wandered on board. Well, perhaps he wasn’t so random, considering his attire was typical of a Marine recruit.

“Ah crap,” Clay sighed. So much for getting a chance to relax in private. Now he had to deal with the Marines. He put on a fake smile and waved at the intruder.

“Hey buddy! I think you made a mistake, we were definitely invited to the shindig you guys have going on. Mhm, no doubt about it,” the redhead nodded.

The marine standing on deck turned at the sound of a voice replying and he held out his clipboard, pointing to a spot on the list. “No, sir. There ain’t no Charybdis on the log, sir,” the newbie marine seemed hesitant to reply, but he did look the list over again, and sure enough, there was no ship by the name of Charybdis anywhere on the list.

He looked around a bit and shrugged, “I… I don’ have to kick ya out or anythin’, but I do need ta’ report it, I’m afraid.”

Though he couldn’t show it to the marine, Clay was internally moping.

“Wait, that can’t be right. For sure we should be on this list! Let me help you find us!” Clay said, walking over to take a peek at the marine’s list.

Obviously, he didn’t find Charybdis’ name anywhere. Instead, he pointed at the name of some other ship before speaking, “Oh! See here, this is my ship’s alternate name. Mhm, I can see how that’s confusing. Guess you won’t be needing to report anything!” Clay then slapped the marine’s back in a friendly, but otherwise overly hard, manner.

The marine leaned forward, peeking at the name that Clay had pointed out. Chirol. “Um… sir, that’s not what it says on the side of your ship,” Chad objected. “And that ship’s already checked off… already accounted for.” He looked at the man standing in front of him and then he looked around the ship again.

His eyes fell on something. Something that either Scarlet had completely forgotten to hide or something that Clay had been too lazy to put away. The marine’s eyes widened and he said, “N-n-nevermind sir. Won’t be doin’ no reportin’ today. Good day to you, s-sir.” The marine turned and walked off the ship, constantly looking back over his shoulder to see whether or not Clay was following.

Clay looked on in confusion as the marine walked away abruptly. He scratched his head, continuing to watch while the marine kept looking back as if to analyze Clay’s movements.

“The heck is wrong with you,” Clay muttered. The Red Ribbon Pirate turned away himself, deciding to go back to his original position before the marine had come on board, when his eyes met with what he assumed was what scared the marine off.

It took him a while to process everything. His eyes were fixated on the ship’s flag for about half a minute.

“God damn it.”

Clay turned around, running after the marine who had already managed to escape the ship, trying to catch up before the man could get to his superiors. The hell if Clay would trust a marine’s word.

As soon as he had been clear of the docks, Chad had broken off into a run straight for the village that he knew was currently swarming with marines. And once he got in sight of the large crowd of people, the newbie marine started screaming at the top of his lungs, “Pirates! PIRATES!”

Theo was emotionless on the surface as he swayed among the crowd. There were executions today and he had come to see who was being executed. There was a former marine and a pirate on the chopping block. Theo adjusted his hood to better hide his face and navigated his way through the crowd. He stopped in a place close enough to run if he needed to and close enough to the platform to assess the marines. A girl not too far away from him, started whispering to one of the executionees. He tried to listen in but couldn't make out what they were saying from his position. Suddenly, the pirate broke free of her bonds and reclaimed one of her swords. There were gasps in the crowd and Theo slipped his way out. It seemed to him that this situation was about to take off. He spun around and watched as a marine ran into sight and suddenly yelled for all to hear about pirates. Theo's jaw dropped and he internally wondered why his luck was so bad. He glanced around as all turned silent and felt the tension in the air reach exponential levels. This was the calm before the storm.

"Stop squirming..."

Tiny chimes of not so tiny chains danced an asymmetrical dance of sonic dominance, as the albino girl strolled outside the tiny storage room even more hunched over than usual, thanks to Josiah's vehement refusal to cooperate and instead try to walk into the other direction.

"Stop. Squirming.", she repeated, this time with emphasis, stopping in her tracks to glare at him with lingering menace, "I don't feel like letting you just lay here..."

With these brief words, she motioned towards the pier's other end once more. Josiah did not put up much struggle this time, instead walking along in a defeated manner. Both of them looked deprived of something. Sickly pale, with Harleen's bag's darkness thickening over her porcelain skin. The absurdly long snowy mane was frizzled and laid heavy on her shoulders, due to an abundance of oil. Neither of the two exemplified vigor by any stretch of the imagination. And but so while it seemed the two had spent several days inside the warehouse without any sort of meals, Harleen directed the two of them towards a little stand in whose front baskets with fruits were propped up to present the goods.

Harley's steps slowed down, eventually coming to a halt, and her lifeless bronze orbs zeroed in on the mustachio'd merchant. "Give me some." she requested plainly, not even attempting to awake an impression credit existing to her name. Yet, the now seemingly spooked merchant appeared to have no qualms about sharing some of his wares, quickly handing her a few bananas and apples. "H-here, m-m-m-ma'am..." Without thanking or even acknowledging him, Harley pulled Josiah along further down the pier.

"Here..."

She handed him three bananas and an apple, while stuffing her own face with the fruits without even peeling them, quickly chewing the entire mass into a gross goo, swallowing it audibly. Cracking her neck immediately afterwards, her posture straightened a little as she tried to take in the town's situation.

"I should report."

Her voice was quiet, clearly not meant for Josiah, but really, it sounded trivial enough that, in its infinite mundaneness, it appeared not even as a mumble to herself. Josiah loudly gourged on the delicious fruit, clearly yearning for something nutricious.
"Go... I don't have any instruction what to do with you after..." Josiah looking up into her eyes, the two of them remained petrified in the same spot for a solid minute, both awaiting the other to commence some sort of action or reaction. Finally, after awkward eye contact, Harleen turned away, slowly slumping towards the village's center, without any sort of word, expression of gesture towards the boy, her bilgy odor from a period of complete hygenic depravation noticable.

"Sir will be so pleased with me..."

That white, almost effulgent figure of hers hardly subtle, she passed a stressed looking marine on her way to the assembling crowd gathering around the execution.

"Sir must be quite stressed..."

@BlacklegSanji

“Wait…” Scarlet had called out in the moment before Kotone had attacked the marines. It really hadn’t been Scarlet’s intention on getting tangled up in a fight. For once, she had sincerely planned on being sneaky. And all of a sudden, that was thrown out the window… well, out the relatively non-existent window at least. “I was going to help you, ya know…” It was more something that Scarlet mumbled under her breath than anything Kotone every likely heard. Silently, Scarlet vanished back into the undergrowth of the forest, content to watch for now because even she knew she didn’t stand a chance on her own.

There was, however, someone else who walked over. Dressed in a black button down dress shirt and simple black slacks, the only visible color being a dark purple undershirt that showed through the top buttons that remained unconnected. He had a single rapier at his hip. As he walked into the circle of marines surrounding Kotone, the marines parted to make way for him. He could’ve stepped entirely into the circle if he had wanted to, but he chose to remain a part of it for now. “Well, it seems you’ve still got a bit of fight left in you, huh?” His words seemed very demeaning as he said them and there was something else about him. His dark eyes peered through behind shimmering glasses that concealed anything that his eyes might’ve added to his words.

Kotone smiled at the marine who spoke to her. She turned her sword to him. “You must be a superior by the looks of you,” she said while giving him a grin. She whirled her sword around and looked at the other marines. “Second Technique: Hebito,” she said wielding her sword with a very slight grip on it. A marine jumped at her with a sword. She deflected his sword with hers, her sword swaying back and forth. He swung at her again, this time she side stepped, and her light grip on her blade allowed it to slide past the marines sword and she caught him in the chest with a quick slash. Another marine fired his gun, the bullet caught her shoulder, luckily only a flesh wound. She pointed her sword at the marine as she flinched from the pain. She looked around, totally surrounded, wondering about her next move.

“You know you’re completely outnumbered, right girl?” Dakota Eimear taunted. “Keep getting wounds like that and they’ll add up eventually…”

Kotone’s teeth would grind together at the Marine Commander's words. He was right, she thought to herself as she began to formulate a plan of escape. At the current time she couldn’t come up with any strategy the would end with her getting away unscratched, So she decided to go for the straightforward plan. She sprinted towards the marine still holding her other blade and both scabbards. She tackled the marine who had her blade to the ground and grabbed for her blade, taking them and escaping the circle she attached them to her belt as she ran. Shots rang off in the air and a bullet buried itself in Kotone’s side as she reached the crowd, pushing through them, and soon the marines would lose sight of her.

She ran through the crowd wounded and staggering as the bullet still inside her caused a lot of pain. She bumped into several people as she ran through the crowd, some trying to grab her as they saw her and others shouting at her. Running blindly as she was, though, Kotone ran right into a man. He didn’t have any odd look about him, but what he did certainly said he was more than he appeared. “Sorry,” he whispered slightly as he grabbed her wrist on the side that had endured the gunshot and yanked it hard above her head. “It seems Hannibal doesn’t even know how to run an execution properly. It doesn’t work very well if you let the prisoners escape so easily.”

Before Kotone had a moment to do anything beyond flinch, there was a gun against her temple. “I think that’s enough running for now. Wouldn’t you agree?” There was something odd about this man, about the way that he spoke. He didn’t sound like he was trying to taunt her; sure, the words themselves were taunting, but it lacked the intent, the sincerity.

Kotone cried out in pain when her arm was lifted causing pain in her side, it was likely that the bullet had struck bone as was causing a lot of her pain. If it wasn’t removed soon it would cause infection, although it wouldn’t matter because she would soon be hung. “You….You Bastard,” she said in pain looking up at him. her other hand rested on her Katana but did not move as there was a gun to her head.

“No. I’m the one who’s going to save you from the bastard… for now,” his reply was almost a sneer. He was not happy about something, but there was almost the feeling that his displeasure had nothing to do with Kotone herself and he still held her hand in a vice grip with his pistol aimed into her skull.

The man looked on at the crowd. A lot of attention had redirected itself away from the execution that many had initially been so anxious to see. It wasn’t often that the marines executed one of their own. Then again, it wasn’t often that a marine betrayed one of their own either. “Nothing to see here,” he said to the crowd with a soft smile. “This one will face the gallows soon enough, but there’s another who must go first.” His head gestured to the stand where Leia Vanguardin still stood, noose around her neck. He nodded to the marine running the show and the stool was kicked out from under Leia Vanguardin’s feet just in time for someone within the crowd to scream out.

“MOM!”

Tora the Hybrid Fishwoman

Tora didn't notice right away that the stores were open, currently the execution site had her full attention. "Sounds as good of a plan as any right now," Tora replied after hearing Gali volunteer to create a distraction. "Give 'em some hell." She was still angry at the Marines for trying to execute one of their own. Tora waited for her chance to act after Gali started fighting, that is until she heard a male voice going on about pirates.

Tora let out an annoyed "Tsk." The pirates that the Marine was shouting about had to be the Red Ribbon Pirates. Between the chaos of the execution site and being discovered, everything seemed to be happening really quickly. Tora's thoughts raced as she began to contemplate what she should do. Scarlet trusted her to get supplies and with Kotone free now would be the best time to quickly buy supplies. Then again the Marine was still shackled. A person's life was at stake.

"MOM!" Tora heard a voice cry out. Her eyes went wide with shock. Turning her attention back to the shackled Marine, she watched as the stool was kicked out from under her. Things started to go in slow motion for Tora. Emotions welled up inside of her as she saw Leia not as a Marine, but as her fishwoman mother Torayako. "Feeding Frenzy!" she growled with hot tears. Acting quickly, Tora dashed by the Marines on the execution platform, slashing them with her fins in the process. The hybrid fishwoman skidded to a halt beside Leia and sliced through the rope that was supposed to dangle the Marine.

"Run," Tora said to Leia, who was close enough to see the tear stains on Tora's cheeks. "Leave the bastards to me."

Gali grins as he twirls his sword in his hand, before his entire expression changed into horror. The little girls scream was the only thing Gali could hear as the marines body fell, and was then abruptly stopped by the harsh cord wrapped around her neck. However, before the shock was able to reach through the rope, Tora cut the rope just in time, and the marine dropped as Gali's fellow comrade attacked the marines. Gali grins as he twirls his sword again, and he strikes down the marines around him, a crimson glint in his eye. A group of marines surround Gali, all of them drawing their guns and swords, pointing them at Gali. Unsheathing his blade, Gali slashes in a wide circle.

"Blue Lotus Garden!"

A barrage of energy slashes fly into the marines, the men shouting as they get frozen over. Gali quickly runs up to Tora and the small girl, cutting down the Marines as he got closer and closer.

"Hey Tora! Good shot back there! Anything you need me to do?"

Why are you a panda?”

Xiao shifted his attention to the little girl, having an amused look on his face. He knelt near her and pat her head gently. ''I asked myself that question a lot of times in my younger days. I don't know why I'm a panda'' he said. Truthfully, he was born that way, and there was nothing he could have done about it. Just as he was in deep thought, chaos broke lose. People were in panic at the mentioning of pirates, the marines were on the move, and the ''criminals'' were to be executed.

Xiao was ready to go and stop Leia's execution, at the same time as he heard Josiah's voice. But the unknown fisherwoman did so before him, then one of her allies started to help as well. ''Other people like us, it seems...How convenient'' he thought. Just as Tora told Leia to run, Xiao was prepared to use Spectre Bullet. Before he did so, though, he spoke to Wasabi: ''Hey giant comerade, I heard Josiah's voice just now, and I'm pretty sure you did as well. You're the most fit to find him in this situation''. After he said that, the panda used the speed technique and blitzed towards Leia.

''Miss Leia, I don't know if you remember me, but I am an ally of the giant Wasabi. Let's get you out of here!'' he said as he extended his paw. In the few moments in which he awaited for Leia Vanguardin's reaction, Xiao looked at Tora and Gali. ''Thanks for the help'' said the panda.
