Futuristic Nova One - OOC

A lot of the stuff talked about in regards to the ship being an interracial construction was spot on with what I was already brainstorming! I wish I had the chance to post about it sooner! Here are a few bullet points that I had set aside to post about:

--Classification: Experimental Interspecies Effort (EIE). Due to its status as a prototype, the EIE has no proper universal designation. When classified in terms of size, it is generally assumed to be a slightly larger-than-average corvette. Though it is able to land, its size and density makes doing so rather costly; as a result, unless an extensive stay on a planet's surface is planned, the ship is generally left in orbit while shuttlecraft are sent to and from the planet.

--Name: Nova One. The ship was complete prior to Earth's contact; as a result, in order to foster unity, naming privileges were granted to the Human delegation.

--History: Shortly after the conclusion of initial Council deliberations regarding the Unknown Entity, the Council sent an inquiry to the Institute for Interspecies Collaboration in regards to the feasibility of the construction of a ship capable of serving the needs of a wide range of galactic specialists, while simultaneously playing to individual species' strengths. When the initial report came back favorable, the Council approved a longer research period, during which a series of potential designs were submitted to the council. Upon the conclusion of a second council meeting, during which the Entity situation was declared to be more dire, the Institute was given permission and Council funding to produce a functioning prototype, which was privately tested, before being unveiled to its future users at the beginning of their mission.

The Spectralite Intelligence Union provided initial technical designs, and assisted with additional design theoretics throughout the construction process. The Reksh'an provided mechanical maneuverability systems, and Quality Control regarding the usability of all available ship components by as many species as possible. Vos engineers were dispatched en-masse throughout the galaxy, given clearance to reverse-engineer potentially promising technology for the rest of the planners to utilize. Internal biological comfort and monitoring systems were prototyped and implemented by the Aule'wae, who also contributed their diplomatic files to the effort to ensure that as many artistic sensibilities of individual races were included within the Nova One in order to promote off-duty mental health. Internal holographic and computational systems, as well as external shielding prototypes, were provided by the Patronus Scientia, the latter with extensive assistance from the Lunishan, and most available onboard weaponry was granted from the stocks of the Ascended. Parts were gathered, indexed, tallied, and shipped by trusted and designated Qu'illium traders, and constructed in record time by Valknir workers stationed in the finest Lunishan orbital factories. Though the Typhloids had no direct influence upon the ship's designs, what few that integrated into galactic society were consulted for the sake of improving onboard medical systems. The Kosaritrez, of course, facilitated the entire process from start to finish. Religious leaders from a variety of cultures and species collectively blessed the prototype in the name of their various religions prior to its unveiling.

That is amazing! Great work!

@Tarmagon If you agree could you please update the ship post with this new information?

@SilverFlight

So am I good, or do I need to change things?

Sorry, I just finished reading your profiles when I got caught up with the other character, I forgot to post what I wanted to say. Personalities need 2 or 3 more sentences, but everything else is very good. ^^ They'll be accepted when you add that little bit.

@Tarmagon Fixed a typo and clunky phrasing in the writeup. Should be good for inclusion!

Go read the entry in Locations, then pm me a list of edits you want. My breaks about over, so anything else will ahve to wait until this evening. Let me know how it looks to you.

Looks good! Only thing that needs to be fixed is:

... who also contributed their diplomatic files to the effort to ensure that as many artistic sensibilities of individual races were included within the Nova One in order to promote off-duty mental health.

Which needs to be changed to:

Just a typo on my part. Sorry!

EDIT: Also, en masse lost an e at the end. That's all!

@_Line 213 @Tarmagon I love that you guys have basically run away with the ship design, it's so detailed!

I wonder if we might add an Aulean research vessel to its complement? It would be very small, minimal fighting capabilities. If that's alright with @SilverFlight, of course.

Also, perhaps some time we could add descriptions of certain sections of the ship (e.g. bridge, mess hall, quarters, etc)? No rush, but I think it would be nice.

@avira I have been a major sci-fi nerd since I first saw a blaster.

Just curious though, how would your characters react to My two Ascended? They both have completely opposite personalities, so it's hard to discern based on what I read.

Repairs applied.

@avira Detailed sci-fi is my preferred genre, so I tend to get immersed in it. Detailed fantasy is a close second.

If I end up having some spare time soon, I would love to do a few internal and external design sketches!

@Andraus Your first character, Solia, has a lot of similarities to mine (Luthiel) and the Aule'wae as a whole. They'll probably get along pretty well and be fast friends, but I imagine they're both always looking for buddies wherever they go. I do wonder what Solia's weaknesses are, though. Perhaps they'll come out as we play through? She seems fantastically capable at pretty much everything! :)

My character would honestly like Mehrunes as well, despite his fiery personality. She's a lover like that. Would he like her? My biggest question about him (and perhaps your race as a whole) is if the two factions of the Ascended work as separate governments of the same species? Or are they both just political movements trying to change the Ascended High Council/political hierarchy? Also, if Mehrunes is against the Council (this Coalition of interplanetary relations) why would he come on a mission backed by them?

Solia's main weakness is also her greatest attribute: Her heart. She tries hard to keep the peace, and hates fighting in general. She takes more after the Loyalist movement like that. She prefers logic and reason to violence and bloodshed. Also, she was never much of a fighter. She has martial training of course, and has spent time learning the basics of combat, but she isn't suited for a prolonged fight.

The Loyalist Council and The Iconoclast Initiative are in the same government, but they're both political parties trying to put forth their point of view. He's on the mission simply to warn the Humans 'against' joining the Coalition, as he sees this as being the straw to break the back of the support of them. If a new race, and one that is clearly needed to develop more, refuses to join the coalition, that would bring to attention how ineffectual it is in Mehrunes eyes, and it would cause a great shift in the political climate, as well as do serious damage to their image.

@_Line 213 Good luck, I'd love to see those!

Does the ship have some sort of viewing promenade? Or is that too extraneous of an item? Also seriously, guys, good job working in all the different species. I'm so excited! @Tarmagon

@sprouhtt The humans have just arrived, so most of the characters / species are present to meet them as they emerge from the airlock. @SilverFlight said that they're going to wait for another two posts or so before moving things along.

Actually. yes. Notice the centerline top? What appears to be a row of viewports are just that, viewports. The bridge is located deep within the core of the ship, about half-way along its length.

@Andraus Ahh, I see! And I definitely get his intent, you're right in that it would help to invalidate the authority of the Council. But since the bulk of this RP is (I assume) going to be the Council-sanctioned mission put together by the Council with some Council diplomats, wouldn't it be strange to invite someone trying to dissolve it? Or is his mission secret, and our characters don't know his true intentions yet?

Ohhhhh, I see! I guess I just assumed that was bridge. I love it, thanks!

@avira It's actually a matter of necessary evil, and Solia did this to try and get his mind off things, cause you know: Excitement over meeting a new race and all that. Also, Solia IS a high chancellor, and the representative for her species. She needs a security detail, and her brother is best suited for that with his track record. He's a notable combatant that's fought against hostile elements for years, so him being her guard was more of necessity than anything.

@Andraus So it's kinda like everyone knows his distaste for the Council, but as Solia gets to choose her security detail she's hoping that maybe this will help her brother? I can get that, and I like it. Does everyone know what his intentions are? It might change my character's view of him, haha.

I definitely appreciate that you're trying to throw a sort of antagonizing force in there. This RP won't be as interesting if everyone gets along and we complete everything with no bumps. :)

@avira Considering he does his best to Antagonize and undermine the Coalitions authority, I would assume so. He's not a bad person, far from it, but he doesn't think that Coalition actually solves anything.

Solia believes that if the Ascended pulled away now, they'd leave the Coalition largely defenseless, and that even if it survived the days to come, she doubted it would ever recover.

Is it possible for my characters to keep their ship the Vulcan during the roleplay?

Henh. Things are going to get interesting when Kthara actually spends time around some of these folks. If any of you have read the Starfire series, the Valknir honor system and reactions are heavily influenced by the Orion race.
