Fandom My Little Pony Frontier

Fang opened an eye at the sound of Firecracker's voice. The crimson hue glowed slightly in the dark as she studied him for a moment. She winced a little as she straightened, shattered wing still dragging limply along the ground. Her attention was once again grabbed by Anda's voice. So she's seen three of these elements so far. That was good for them, since even Anda seemed hesitant to destroy her own descendants.

Firecracker did his best to splint, and patch what he could, but he was going off Pegasus anatomy.

He knew very little of the less common pony like bats or flutter, but he did know enough to know things were bad.

Wiping his brow he remarked- " Well, that will keep you going.. But it's far from a fix. you need a real doctor, not a mad scientist."

Faking a short laugh he was trying to inject some humor to help the situation.

It may not have been the best idea, but he didn't know what else to do.

Turning his attention back to Steelheart and Anda, he saw that neither had moved still.

Turning his attention to Kadje, he asked with an encouraging smile- " How you holding up pal?"

turning to Shina he asked "Do you think the flutter pony is going to be ok?"

Anda sparred a cutting glance and Firecracker.

Her piercing eyes cut to the bone, but when he locked eyes with her, he only smiled and turned back to the others.

Taking Shadow Fangs weight from Kadje he said " Let me help you with her. You look like your about to collapse yourself."

Again the spirit spoke to Steelheart- " The red one shows courage in the face of great adversity.. despite his complete ineptitude.."

Steelheart never broke her gaze as she replied - "Valor, grandmother. "

Anda only nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile Lavender Moon and Indicus had finally hit the main road.

Looking to the sky for the first time sense she was mare-napped she commented- " This no good. We don't have much time. If the spirit is awake for much longer the whole island could die!"

Lots of training and a high pain tolerance only got one so far . . . Though the bat pony was able to keep the reaction to a low moan. Especially as Friecracker attempted to patch her wing. With the blood cleared and a bandage in place, she was able to open her other eye and get a better look at what was going on. Unfortunately, the young stallion wasn't able to do anything for the shard of wood jutting from her side. Though she was thankful he didn't attempt to pull them out. Leaning against him, she managed to murmur a quiet thank you.

Kadje nodded, letting Shina take the wounded bat pony as he himself grew more unsteady. Kadje was glad to see Anda had calmed at least a bit. Kadje limped back into the town hall to check up on Thunder who had put away the ring just in time to keep it a surprise from Kadje.

"Drag him into his own dungeon. we need you out here... I need you." Kadje admitted. Thunder gave a nod, biting down on the skin on the back of CatchPenny's withers and dragging him to the dark dungeon without care. throwing him to the ground hard enough to crack the marble under him and locking the door behind him. "Sit and babble to your self, old haggard has been." Thunder resumed his position by Kadje's side, helping the prince walk outside again as Kadje kept trying to clear some of the debris.

Indicus nods and with the flutterpony behind him sprints towards the spirit and sprints faster once he sees Steelheart between his new friends and the spirit. All the while ignoring the aching and hunger thinking back to when he had been in just as bad shape when he hunted down his squad's and his lover's killer and destroyed the entire crime ring as a result. He had one task that he swore that he would not fail and he did not plan on breaking a promise.

Once Firecracker was done Shina moved to inspect the wood sticking out of Fang's side. Looking it over for a second hey fuchsia eyes then shifted to Fang's hoping the batpony could feel the length of the wood. "How deep is it? If there any risk of organ damage?" Shina knew she was capable of burning the wound closed but cauterizing an organ would do more harm then good.

The batpony glanced at Shina for a moment before turning her attention to the jagged pieces of wood in her side. "Only one is that deep..." She motioned with her head towards the largest piece towards the center of her side. "I don't think the rest have gone too deep, not that I'm about to start pulling any of them out right now."

"It would not be safe for me to try and cauterize an organ wound. But I could remove the smaller pieces and burn the wound closed. Provided you do not mind the scars it would leave?" Shina offered. Seeing the scars Fang already had she wasn't sure if the batpony would want more of them.

A soft chuckle escaped the batpony's lips. "I don't think anyone would notice a few new scars..." Besides, after being so badly burned by dragonfire, these would be fairly minor in comparison. Not that she was overly thrilled with the thought of being burned again.

Shina gave a light nod in understanding. "I will not lie... This will hurt." She admitted. Her fuchsia eyes fixed on the smaller pieces of wood as her antler like horn glowed a bright gold color. First she used levitating magic to pull out the pieces of wood. Next Fang would feel the burn of fire in the wounds as Shina burned out the last few splinters. She tried to contain this fire just to the wood so it wouldn't hurt so badly, but it was difficult to do with the wood in the batpony's flesh. The final step was burning the wounds closed, this would cause a searing pain as blood vessels were singed closed to stop the bleeding. She tried to make the entirety purposes as quick as possible hoping she wouldn't cause Fang to much pain.

Firecracker cringed at the sight of Shina's surgery, but he knew it was for the best.

He dug threw his pack to try and find something that would help, but all he could find was some low grade burn cream.

With a blush of embarrassment he passed it over without even making eye contact.

As Indicus ran up, Anda finally broke her gaze with Steelheart.

Hissing and sneering at Indicus, she was too focused on the potential new threat to realize Lavender Moon was with him.

Again the ground began to quake and her eyes grew darker.

She wouldn't let any-pony come close to her.

In a low boom, she demanded- "Begone!" sending a sound wave strong enough to shatter a statue that was only a meter from Indicus.

Seeing this resurgence in aggression, Firecracker thought out loud - " this is bad, very bad"

Without thinking he began to run to intercept the two of them shouting " Stop! you have to turn ba-aa"

Before he could finish he again fell over, this time over his own hooves.

It would seem his inner ear had been blown out when he fired his last round.

It was then her hateful leer turned to downed unicorn.

Within the darkness of the dungeon Mayor Catchpenny Struggle to his feet.

He had never been hurt before, least of all so badly.

It made him furious, but at the same time, helped him come back to reality.

In the darkness he raged- " No no no no no! this can't be happening. After so much time.. "

He knew his plan to become king of his own land was gone, but he still had one final act of cruelty.

He had heard of the old prophesy from the flutter pony.

That should the land ever be abused in such a manor a spirit of vengeance would come to wipe the taint away in purging fire.

Staggering around the cell, he pulled out small key and warned-

" If I can't have this land.. There wont be an Equinox for any-pony"

Fang hissed through clenched teeth. The impromptu surgery did indeed hurt. A lot. That said, it wasn't as bad as the enchanted flames she had faced once before. "Thanks . . ." she gasped, "Shina..." The pain had distracted her from Indicus' approach

Kadje had managed to clear quite a bit of the city. finding some time to get rid of buildings and streets, letting the forrest reclaim the land. thunder was working on removing civilian ponies and getting them onto boats at the dock house. His mindhowever was in turmoil. if he proposed to Kadje and he accepted, it could ruin his name! he loved Kadje, but ruining him sounded awful! He needed to think on this and consider all the consequinces.

Kadje groaned against the strain of the massive amounts of magic he'd used to erasethe land's scars. It didn't hurt to use magic it was just exausing. It'd take days to remove the whole town to appease the spirit, but he was managing to get quite a bit done.

Indicus barely was able to stand his ground the force almost sending him tumbling over. Though he was not able to dodge a small piece of a statue that crashed into him sending him to the ground with a low scream of agony and cracked a couple of ribs the pain was now to the point of causing his vision to blur. This time the thing keeping him up was a mix between his resolve and his ever growing hunger with himself still up he pushed Lavender Moon in front of him before looking at Steelheart, "She's safe that's good my blood oath is not broken yet." He said these words hardly above a whisper before the pain and fight for control in his mind forced him back down.

"I am sorry I do not know a gentler means of healing." Shina said lowering her head in shame to have caused Fang any pain. Hearing Firercracker taking off her head perked again, turning her fuchsia eyes to see him stumble and fall. In a way she was almost relieved he was too disoriented to fully charge in to harms way.

Seeing Anda's reaction to Indicus and Lavender Moon's arrival those already slanted eyes narrowed further, her brows furrowing in what looked to be disappointment. With a disgusted sigh she stepped forward, moving slowly so as not to alarm Anda till she felt she was close enough to speak. "You have every right to be angry at what has happened to your lands... But choosing to punish those who have come to support and guard Steelheart and Lavender Moon shows a great lack of honor." She spoke coldly, careful not to inject more anger or spite in to the situation. "Open your eyes to the truth, and seek out your true enemy rather then harming those who stand beside your grandchildren."

"Said enemy is in the basement. threw him in his own damn cell." Thunder called over his shoulder as he pushed a piece of a crumbled stone wall away from the road as Kadje sent it back to its previous time.

Steelheart spoke up in agreement-" It's true grandmother. All this destruction, all this hatred.. This isn't you. You are a radiant being of life.. Not this harbinger of death."

For a moment, Anda stood in silence, searching for the words to say.

her sneer turning to a guilty frown she replied- " It isn't as if I want this.. I bore the very first flutter pony, this land is my very womb. To destroy it, is to destroy my very self. But how my purity, how can I be sure the same wont happen again? This is the history the pony of this world repeat with each generation."

Turning her eyes to Shina she asked- " You speak of my lack of honor..perhaps you are right to say that it is gone..It has been a long time sense I could hold my head high. You seem to carry a great honor, and a great burden with you. I can respect that. But mine was not forsaken, it was stripped away from me when.."

Having barely doged her attack, and reaching earshot, Lavender Moon interrupted her- "The Moment I gave up our lands.."

shocked, Steelheart turned to the direction of her voice "Syster?"

Stepping ever closer to Anda she continued " Ja.. It was my Anda. I did it to save what was left of our people.. The earth pony devil had driven us to the bring of genocide with his minions.. It was all I could do to save the survivors. I had to sell him the land.. And leave you dear sister as collateral."

Shocked, Steelheart's eyes began to well up with tears.

Their mystical glow faded back to their normal empty color as she collapsed to her knees.

Unable to stand correctly, Firecracker called out. " In..Indi..Bat pony what ever your name is, You have to get Steelheart out of here. I have a feeling it's about to get ugly again.

Meanwhile in the darkness of the under ground tunnels and sinister laugh echoed.

shambling along at surprising speed the mayor moved like a pony possessed.

"They think I'm the villein? I was just trying to improve my station. Royals are all the same, they will never give another pony a chance to rise above the role of servant.. But I will show them.. I have one last trick.. one..last..Ace

Having made her opinion known, and it not changing despite Anda's sob story, Shina remained silent. Her gaze shifted to Lavender Moon hearing her speak. It was a relief to have her here and to finally hear the whole story on what had happened. The young kirin had actually suspected something similar, though she'd never imagined the mayor had actually been killing of the flutterponies.

Seeing Steelheart dropping to her knees Shina rushed over, not carrying that it put her so close to Anda. Noticing the glow in her eyes gone she assumed that meant Stealheart's site was gone again as well. As before Shina pressed her side against Steelheart's to guide her, in case they should have to run. "Your sisters had no choice." Shina spoke softly to let Stealheart know who was there, if the feel of her scales didn't give it away, but also to try and raise the flutterpony's spirits again. "She knew you were brave and strong enough to handle this task, that is why she chose you. I'm sure it was not done in malice, and I am also certain it caused her much grief to leave you hear with Mayor Catchpenny."

Indicus gathered his strength having beat back his hunger well enough and got up. With a last look at the spirit and Lavender Moon went to Steelheart still not done with having to protect her. Now knowing the full story he felt some pity for the Spirit and Lavender Moon both having done extreme things in attempt to protect what they held dear. With some of the magic having regenerated he started to let himself heal up some.

Steelheart weekly nodded in agreement.

She was in a bit of shock learning the truth of not only why the wolves suddenly appeared in her land, but also why she was sent to live in the settlement in stead of leaving for the new grove.

She leaned her head against Shina's warm mane for comfort.

Turning a passing glance to the everyone Lavender Moon took another step forward speaking again- " I may have disgraced us, but look at what you have wrought."

Taking a step back to reveal all the pony she had harmed.

Taking a bold tone she went on " Do you really think this is justice? I have seen the horror of our genocide first hand.. And even I can't justify this. "

Walking up to Lavander Moon and staring her in eyes Anda spoke as dire as ever- "Do you really feel this way?. That I of all creatures are in the wrong?"

With an unblinking glare she replied- " No, I feel you have every right to feel your anger. And It is your right as the life of this land to choose it's fate.."

Firecracker's heart sank when he herd her say that.

He was hoping Lavender Moon would solve this peacefully, not encourage her.

Trying his best to focus, he staggered his way back towards Shina and Steelheart.

Hearing him approaching, Lavender Moon didn't brake eye contact as she went on " I am simply asking you to find your heart.

is it beyond immortal spirits to forgive even the innocent? Look around you Anda, These pony had nothing to do with all this.

Many of them are seeking only to help undo it.

It was as Anda's magic fluctuated back and forth from positive and negative, that a strange distortion began to flow out from her.

this distortion began to tamper with the very eb and flow of all magic in the area.

Some pony felt a serge in energy, while other felt almost completely void of magic.

Firecracker was practically a failure as a unicorn, but he still could sense the distortion same as any magical pony.

Remembering his mission, he snapped his attention to Shina's vile only to see it had began to glow.

quickening his pace he shouted to himself "No, no no no. this is bad, very bad."

Meanwhile Mayor Catchpenny had fully escaped from his prison and made his way to the ancient church he had first been interrogated at.

Slowly he walked up to an old shrine with a relief that bared a striking similarity to Anda.

Pulling a large stick of dynamite he sat down under the relief.

Striking a match he muttered to himself "If I can't have this land, then I will wipe the last trance of the flutters from it.."

Lighting the fuse, he sat it down next to him.

as it hissed and burned away all he could do was cackle insanely before.. *BOOM!*

A massive explosion rang out from the other side of town demanding everyone attention.

None more then Anda's who seemed to wince in great pain at the sound.

This caused the fluctuation in magic to reach it's zenith sending pulses in every direction.

The light from the vile hanging from Shina's neck drew her attention. The Kirin's closed her eyes for a moment, that gold antler glowing as she whispered something softly in her native tongue, as if speaking to whatever spirit was in the vile to try and calm it. The fluctuating magic was effecting her own magic as well. Steelheart could no doubt feel the fluctuating temperatures of Shina's scales against her side, her body temperature spiking and dropping over and over so quickly it made the scaly pony a little dizzy. She however, manage to keep a cap on her body tempature so that it would not spike so high or suddenly that she might burn Steelheart.

A loud boom caused Shina's eyes to fly open turning her attention in the direction of the sound. So distracted by the explosion that she almost didn't sense Anda's pulses of magic in time. Shina suddenly leaped away from Steelheart, the flutterpony would feel a sudden temperature spike from the kirin's scales, nearly burning her before Shina was able to move away. Through all of this Shina seemed to have fared the best so far, receiving no injuries or expelling large amounts of magic that would drain her. Now however, she suddenly seemed winded, panting for breath, her eyes wincing and body contracting as though she were struggling to contain something. She'd always been very sensitive to magic, though her own was very specialized on fire, and these sudden pulses seemed too much for her. She took a few slow steps backwards away from the others, any who looked close enough might note that her scales were no longer shimmering with a pearl like reflection, but glowing white hot.

Thunder and Kadje leapt out of their skins at the sound of explosion. "What the hell! Thunder, didn't you lock That crazy pony up?" Kadje asked.

"I swore I did, I still have the key. How the heck did this happen?" Thunder wondered in confusion, rushing toward the site of the explosion. Kadje right on his heels. He and Thunder would fight this monster together.

A pillar of smoke rose over the horizon as the church crumbled and burned.

Only a the arch of the doorway was left standing after such a blast.

Among the smoldering debris lay broken and burnt ledger with a single note carved into it- ' I rose above my station as servant'

Seeing Shina was in distress, Firecracker rushed best he could to her and reached out a hoof to help.

"Shina, are you ok?" he asked desperately, before a quick hiss could be heard as her glowing scales burnt his hoof."

Recoiling in pain, he only nursed his burn for a moment before again trying to get through to her " You've got to fight it."

At the same time Anda staggered and stamped her hoofs in pain.

Still feeling the effect of the magical distortion Lavander Moon warned- "Guardians, you must flee, take my sister somewhere safe.

Steelheart was scared and confused and tried to ask- " What's happening?"

But the last part of her question being cut off my Anda screaming.

As she screamed, she began to transform once again, but at an alarming rate.

Soon she looked more dragon the pony, and began to grow in size.

"Stay back!" Shina shouted desperately as Firecracker tired to approach, but she was not fast enough to keep him form burning a hoof. She shuffled back away from him several steps, leaving scorched hoof prints where her split toed hooves had touched the ground. "Get Steelheart and the others out of here." She began to plead. "I will be fine once I am away from this unstable magic... but it's not safe for me to flee with the rest of you like this..." Her fuchsia eyes lifted, seeming to steady her self enough to gaze toward Firecracker's eyes with a look that seemed to imply her words were also a promise as she added firmly. "I'll catch up."

Fang was beginning to struggle to keep up with everything that was going on so fast. While her wounds may have been more serious than she thought, but that wasn't important to her at the moment. No, helping to calm the spirit and set things right again was what mattered right now. Being as sensitive to magic as she had become, she felt the effects of Anda's fluctuations, leaving her even more drained than before. As an explosion rocked the ground, her crimson gaze shifted towards the rising pillar of smoke coming from further in town. Did the mayor do that . . .? Why?
