Fandom My Little Pony Frontier

A small gasp escaped the bat pony as Steelheart slumped against her. In her weakened state the small flutter pony felt much heavier than she really was. Or at at least looked anyway. Crimson hues shifted towards the glow escaping from under her wing, only widening as the light spread. For some reason she didn't feel alarmed, more like soothed as the light washed over her form. The aches from the more minor wounds faded away as she felt some of her magic return. The glow that had vanished from Fang's eyes slowly returned.

After the flames died from around Anda, it was clear that the extent of the damage was only some singed scales.

Roaring in anger, she took a step closer and this time swiped at Shina with her claws.

It was at this point Firecracker realized that the two dragons were fighting each-other.

"That makes things easier" he remarked to himself as he loaded the shall he designed just for such an occasion.

He was going to pick off the winner, and save Shina wherever she may be.

meanwhile on the boat, the captain was just about to shove off, despite the others protest.

but as he reached for his throttle Lavender Moon jumped aboard the ship right in front of him.

Shoving the captain down, she walked over to her sister Steelheart.

Her eyes widened at the miraculous glow coming from her.

Taking another step closer, she felt the magical distortion fade away in her area.

Confused, all she could say was "Syster?

Indicus watched ready to put in his own attacks in to assist when he saw Anda swipe at Shina he used a tendril to beat back the claw and keeping it from making contact with Shina he knew he would play a more defensive role unless he could get in close with his blade unless he played with his limited knowledge of the more unstable void magic and that was a double edged sword that could turn to be worse if he ended up accidentally pulling out one of the more ancient powerful beings that according to the books he read were older then the planet itself that and using the magic had a price lest he make the veil between the planet and the void too thing and aforementioned powerful entities came through without issue.

Anda likely would of sent Shina flying if not for Indicus' aid. Fortunately there real dragon's claws were just shy of the kirin. Anda did manage to remove the head of her fire dragon for a moment revealing Shina among the flames before she regathered the fire to reform the dragon's head. Fire magic had always came so naturally to the young kirin that normally even such a large amount of fire did not stain her greatly. However with the magical distortion and trying to contain Konton she was quickly becoming exhausted. Realizing something had to give she gave a defeated sigh. Closing her eyes she focused on the vial hanging from her neck for a moment.

"Konton wa, watashi wa anata o kaihō shita baai, anata wa watashitoisshoni tatakau koto ni narimasu. Watashi wa sore wa anata ga anata jishin o suru koto ga deki-ka o mitsukeru tame ni, watashi wa sō nagaku kakatta mōshiwakearimasenga, anatahadare o kizutsukerukara tamotsu koto ga dekiru baai wa, muryō no mama ni suru koto ga dekimasushi, wareware wa issho ni kensaku sa remasu." (Konton, if I free you will you fight with me. I am sorry it has taken me so long to find you a home where you can be yourself, but if you can keep from hurting anypony you can remain free and we will search together.) Falling silent the vial hanging from Shina's neck glowed brighter as she seemed to be listening to a voice only she could hear.

carefully watching the fight, Firecracker saw the larger dragon swipe at the one made of fire.

Once the head was dispersed, he could see that somehow it was Shina inside of the beast.

For a second he cried out " SHi-" before covering his mouth with both hooves.

He was in a predicament: first he disrespected her wishes by coming back.

secondly, What hope did he have to combat the other real dragon aside from using his extremely dangerous round.

However, seeing Indicus was there helped him feel the situation wasn't too far gone.

Again gathering his courage, he set to work adjusting his cannon.

Anda then turned her attention to the bat pony.

Sensing his magic, she knew right away where the tendril had come from.

She then spoke in a low rumbling voice as Indigo flames spewed from her maw- " What right have you to interfere? "

In a way, this was a good sign; as it showed that she wasn't a complete beast.

Indicus stepped up, "I made a blood oath to Lavender Moon that I would protect Steelheart. Though it dose not physically or magically bind me it is an oath I do not take lightly. I interfere in defense of those that I have come to call friend in these pass few days and to not let my past repeat itself. Dose that answer your question?"

Hearing the dragon speaking drew Shina's attention away from the vial hanging from her neck. Her flaming eyes narrowed hearing Anda's words to Indicus nearly enraging her. The fire dragon around her seemed to almost explode as it lost it's form the fire scattering around her. Still not seeing Firecracker in the area, and with Indicus in the air she felt no need to contain the flames letting them dance around her as they pleased revealing her self to shout at the dragon. "He has as much right to interfer as you have to punish those not responsible for the destruction of your island. And you would shame your self by destroying it further instead of accepting help to undo the damage!"

She scowled angrily her mane and tail still ablaze, fire in her eyes. Giving an angry snort smoke shot from her nostrils, making the normally cute dainty kirin look like some sort of war horse out of an old pony's tail. Her tail gave an irritated flick as she considered the vial hanging from her neck again, debating if she should release Konton and hope he would go for Anda allowing her self and the others to escape with out notice.

Fixing her gaze on Indicus Anda's voice rumbled a single word "..justice." as the word seemed to echo it was interrupted by a loud, sharp *crack!*.

Rearing back, she howled and roared in pain, billowing smoke and indigo flame.

six cracks suddenly split the dragons scales in a starburst pattern.

Firecracker's eyes widened at the sight as he whispered to himself-"that's it."

The star pattern to him looked like a giant bull's eye.

At the same time he felt his heart sink as the beast regained it's composure and turned a snarling leer back to Shina.

Whipping her massive tail at Indicus, she started bounding up to Shina to attack.

Raising his sights he had the dragon in his reticles when it dawned on him; They were all too close for this round.

It was designed to snuff the flames of an immortal phoenix through raw concussive force.

An immunity to fire wouldn't help any-pony in this case.

He was out of time, he had to decide what to do.

It was just then Anda opened her giant maw in a flash of teeth and fire.

But just before she could snap her saber like teeth around the kirin, a large firework came screaming down her throat.

Exploding in a burst of copper color just behind the dragons uvula;it did little to harm the beast, but it certainly got it's attention.

Recovering almost immediately the dragon billowed in anger like the whole of an enraged bull and began charging Firecracker.

Turning and dashing off as fast as he could he began to lead the dragon away from the others.

His voice shook with fear and exhaustion as he began reciting an old mantra to himself- " To bring light to the dark, is to bring light to the heart. To bring light to the heart, is to bring rapture to the soul.."

His heart was pounding out of his chest as he ducked and dodged both destroyed city and splintered trees.

Much to his dismay he ran head long to a giant city wall, built to keep pony safe from the steep cliff overlooking the sea.

Hearing the dragon not fire behind him he went on -" So we..The painters of the nights sky say these words as we have sense the beginning.."

It was strange; only here at what seemed like his life's end did I finally find a purpose.

He couldn't help but laugh to himself at the irony as he turned to face the beast rushing towards him with all the force and rage of a hurricane.

Cocking his head to the side to look down his reticles he smiled in acceptance of his fate as he finished -"Fire it up!"

With that last word he he used a controlled spark like a matchlock to ignite his cannon firing his round at only a few meters distance.

Just as the round struck the dragon it exploded with such force that it could be heart for miles.

The sheer force of the bomb destroyed the stone wall behind Firecracker and much of the land around them.

It also shattered the dragon's scales like a vase being hit with a sledge hammer.

The dragon howled in pain as it staggered back in it's new form.

Devoid of scales, it's new form was the same in shape, but looked like a being of pure magic.

iridescent shifting colors rolled perpetually over the dragons new skin.

It was clear that the round didn't finish the dragon, but perhaps it wasn't a complete wast Firecracker thought to himself as he laid on top of a pile of rubble.

Broken and able to move, he stared up at the sky hoping he was at least able to help the pony he had fallen in love with.

Meanwhile aboard the ship, the explosion rocked everyone back and forth.

Struggling to keep both Shadow Fang and her sister in place, Lavender Moon looked in the direction of the sound and shouted "Anda!"

It was clear that even the cool headed flutter pony was loosing her grip on the situation and giving in to a slight panic.

Fang gasped, clenching her teeth as she kept her good wing around Steelheart in a bid to keep the sleeping pony in place. She could feel the nearly overwhelming wave of magic ripping through the area. This couldn't be happening. Why was it all going so wrong? Tears threatened to fall from the bat pony's eyes as another wave of pain ripped through her form. What can I even do? I can't even stand anymore.

As Anda moved in toward her Shina suddenly found her self much closer then she would have liked to have been to Anda's teeth. She readied her self to move when a spark of light caught her eyes. Seeing the copper colored light exploding in the dragon's throat the fiery kirin knew instantly who'd made it. "Firecracker!" She said suddenly, glancing around in a panic. If she'd know he'd returned she would have been far more careful in controlling her flames, for all she knew she might of burned him alright.

Seeing Anda take off she could only assume the spirit was chasing the unicorn she'd come to care for. So Shina took off after Anda, hopping to find some way of keeping the dragon from harming Firecracker. Though light on her feet and in good shape the dragon easily out ran the little kirin and Shina found her self falling behind. Feeling the ground shake hearing the explosion Shina was forced to pause her pursuit for a moment, lifting one of her forelegs to shield her face from the light and debris it created. When she looked again the fire in her eyes seemed to suddenly vanish, returning to their normal fuchsia color as her mane and tail returned to fur instead of fire. The flames about her all seemed to suddenly smothered as it the flame of her heart had suddenly been doused by something. For a second Shina felt frozen looking at the destruction, not even noticing how the dragon had changed, or at least not caring if she had noticed.

Her lips moved as if to speak, but no sound left them at first. Struggling to find her voice before managing to get something out in a small cracked squeak. "Firecracker?" Her gold hooves took off in a sudden sprint through the rubble, searching frantically till she spotted a familiar shape among the broken stone and earth. Rushing over she was instantly nudging Firecracker to get up, nearly shouting in her native tongue apparently too distraught to translate her self. "Ie! Okiru! Anata ga kyō shinu koto o yurusa rete inai... Watashi wa anata o sa semasen!"

(No! Get up! You're not allowed to die today... I will not let you!) Though it was unlikely anyone but the spirit trapped in the vial hanging from her neck would understand her, her tone was clearly upset, perhaps even a bit angry Firecracker had put him self in such danger.

When Anda said 'Justice' the word seemed to echo into his soul. Shaking the feeling put up a shadow shield when he saw her tail come towards him, the blow sending him sliding back a few feet instead of flying back a few yards. He watched as a projectile hit Anda and felt the force as her appearance seemed to look like that of wild magic given the form of a dragon. He ignored the magic wave and readied himself with a few spells and his sword he put his heavily damaged armor into a pocket dimension freeing himself up and letting him move even faster. He looked back at the injured Firecracker and Shina and his resolve steeled

"I never wished to do this Anda." Indicus said before moving towards his target with purpose, unleashing shadow tendrils towards Anda, pressing his attack.

As Firecracker lay broken in the ruble, he could hear the strange cries of a familiar voice.

As his eyes strained to focus, he could make the shape of a red angelic figure.

His vision blurred and spun, but he knew Shina was near.

He tried to speak, but words wouldn't come to him.

His body was limp and unresponsive to Shina's nudging.

It was when she fell silent for a second that he was finally able to muster the strength to speak.

Moving only his eyes to look at her, he spoke In a weak and shaky voice -" Sh..Shina.. I'm sorry. It looks like I won't be able to come with you after all.."

Coughing sent waves of pain through his damaged chest and small specks of blood.

His eyes shook as he tried to keep looking at her and went on to say- " Please.. please don't hate me for what I'v done..I know I can be impulsive, but you.. you meant more to me, then the colors of the nights sky."

I only wish I could have performed for you.. One last time.."

The vibrant color from his Iris faded from it's olive gold to a baron gray as a tear rolled down from it.

raising a wobbly chipped hoof to cover Shina's moth and stop her from speaking he added "Ssshhh... Please, just smile for me.. one last time?..

Tears began to roll down his face as his physical pain was completely dwarfed by the pining in his heart.

He wanted so badly to confess his love for her, but he knew it would be unfair to her.

If he told her, she would be bound to the pain.

So he decided to spare her heart, by braking his own.

Shina suddenly felt trapped in a state somewhere between heartbreak and panic. Even as Firecracker found the strength to speak his words gave her no comfort. She didn't understand, no literally she was so flustered she couldn't translate the words as she heard them in the common tongue to even realize what he was saying. It took a moment to gather her self enough to figure his words out, but they only seemed to make her dainty form tremble, utterly petrified at the thought of loosing him. He'd asked for a smile, but now all she could manage were tears. "Ie!" She cried again with a defiant shake of her head to emphasis the words meaning. The young kirin had been raised from a long line of proud and honorable warriors, she'd always been strong and able. Caring for her self so far from her home lands. But now for what might have been the first time she felt completely helpless. She'd never had any skill in healing, aside from cauterizing wounds, and even that was only good for bleeding surface wounds. Firecrackers looked to have more internal damage, and she knew of no way to fix such injuries. Unable to do anything else Shina laid down beside him and began to sob, continuing to speak in her native tongue as it came more easily to her. "Anata ga shinu koto wa dekimasen. Watashitachi wa anata o hitsuyō to suru... Watashi wa anata o hitsuyō to shite imasu." (You can't die. We need you... I need you) Desperately trying to calm her sobs and collect her thoughts she managed to repeat her last sentence in the common tongue. "I need you..."

Indicus jumped at Anda part of him questioning the wisdom of the move but he did not care he was here to give his other friends some space and time to get away. His blade was poised to strike a couple shadow tendrils following him the tendrils seeming to swallow any light that was around them.

Somehow Firecracker was able to find the strength of will to smile in reply to Shina.

He couldn't bare the sight of her tears, but he was so happy to hear say that she needed him.

In a weak joking voice he replied " ..Hearing that almost makes it worth blowing myself up.."

Turning his gray eyes to the sky he could see small balls of light drifting through the air.

Tiny motes of magic that fluttered and danced in the aftermath of Anda's shell rupturing.

The sky had actually began to clear from this, and with it rays of sun poked through the clouds in pillars of light.

Softer now he spoke- " Do you..Remember when I talked about fate? How it brings both serendipity, and tragedy? Well I don't consider this to be a tragedy at all."

His voice grew weaker but there was an urgency in his tone like what he was saying was very important.

" In just these few short days, I've felt more alive then in my whole life.. I'v had more meaning to each second then the past decades.. So if this is it.. Then I'm glad I had a full life.. I only wish I had more time..To be with you..."

Realizing that it wouldn't mater now, he finally found the courage to tell her -" Shina...I.. I love you. "

Taking a shallow gasp his subject and level of clarity changed- " ...It's getting dark now.. I wonder, will there be fireworks?."

With that his body slumped and he fell unconscious; and while his heart still weakly beat, he would not wake.

Meanwhile the dragon Staggered and roared angrily as magic pulsed and spindled out like tentacles from its back .

Seeing Inidcus raise arms against her, she haphazordly spewed indigo colored fire at him with much less focus.

It was clear she was still very shaken from Firecracker's Phoenix burst shell.

Another thing became clear is that the strange distortion of magic had shifted again.

This time it was an outpouring of pure energy.

Without her scales to contain her power Anda seethed magical energy, granting in ample portion a boost to all magical pony.

This was also noticed aboard the ship as Steelheart began to glow even brighter, and with it her healing powered reached new levels.

Lavender Moon also felt a massive resurgence in her own magical power as she two began to glow in resonance with her.

Stroking her sister's main Lavender Moon finally understood.

She knew that Anda, the spirit of creation and destruction of this land had been driven mad.

And the universe was seeking to correct it's self by finding a new, 'pure' vessel for this power.

Suddenly a sickening pop broke the intimate setting as Shadow Fang's bones began to rest.

While her surge in power allowed for miraculous levels of healing, there are some things that can not be done without pain.

A pained gasp escaped the bat pony's throat as her wing and ribs started setting themselves. Realizing what was going on, and with a small tremble, she reached back and pulled the last piece of wood free. The wound make a sickening sound as the wood was removed. Blood quickly ran down her side, pooling around her. While Fang was able to keep from crying out, hot tears still ran down her face as she grimaced and gritted her teeth.

Indicus blocked the fire but he suddenly felt pain erupt as fractures in his bones mended themselves and wounds closed the pain was enough to cause a flicker in his shield allowing the magical fire to sing him for a fraction of a second. He grunted bearing the pain and sprinted forward light swallowing shadows following as he continued to channel magic making sure not to burn himself into a crisp from channeling more then he could handle which was actually quite a bit.

Shina found she could do little more then cry as Firecracker spoke, every word sounding as if it could be his last. Her heart was breaking and all she could manage were tears. As he spoke Shina curled up beside him, nuzzling his cheek to give the unicorn what comfort she could.

Shina managed to calm her self enough to listen though tears still rolled down her scaled cheeks. She'd expelled enough magic that her scales were only warm to the touch as she laid down beside Firecracker. She managed only a weak smile as he spoke of the past few days though her heart was breaking. For a moment she could do nothing but cry, till her head leaned down to place a soft kiss on his cheek. "I love you too." She said before forcing her self to stand.

As Shina stepped away sorrow was turned to anger her scaled starting to glow again as the tears falling from hey eyes evaporated before they could touch hey cheeks. She took several steps toward Anda before pausing to give a toss of her head. Shaking off the cord around her neck the vile containing Konton's fell to the ground with a small clank. Lifting one of her fore hooves Shina stomped down on to the vile, causing it to crack. Leaning down she took the cord in her mouth to pick it up. Now she just needed to get close to Anda. Rearing up on to her back legs she shot a ball of fire from hey antler like horn at the spirit, hoping to draw Anda to her.

"You speak of us being worthy of redemption? Well what about you?! There is no redemption for what you've done. Now come face your fate, at least die with honor!" She shouted at the odd energy dragon, hoping her plan wound work.

Finally regaining it's footing the dragon unfurled it's new magical wings.

Six wings of rolling, pulsating colors sprawled out for what seemed like for ever as the land began to rumble and shake.

Not even acknowledging the distraught kirin, she loomed over the approaching bat pony.

While her claws and body began to encircle Indicus, a stream of energy shot from her back.

Taking the form of a twisted and evil wolf's head the beam snapped it's massive jaws inches from the unflinching kirin.

With a small burst of wind, the head imploded into a small burst of magical light.

It was clear that while this creature one of massive magical power.

Any trace of the once reasonable spirit had been swallowed by madness.

Back aboard the ship Steelheart began to squirm in grimace as she slept.

Nuzzling her sister's head she tried to comfort her as she remarked to Shadow Fang- " Even in her dreamless sleep, she can tell what's going on."

Turning her eyes to Fang's she went on- " Perhaps better then any of. "

Kissing her forehead she spoke softly to her sister saying " Shhh.. It will be alright soon.. grandmother is gone.. and her soul will be at rest once it dwells within you. "

These words were both comforting, and extremely cryptic in nature.

Looking back to the bat pony Lavender Moon spoke- " I know I have caused you great pain, and I can never undo the damage me or the dread spirit has caused, but I ask your forgiveness.. Not for me, but for min syster. Do not hate her for what she is.. Or what she could become.

From the time when our ancestors defeated the smoose, we have been creatures more magic then that of flesh and blood.

And magic, by it's very nature is both a blessing, and a curse.

Shina stood her ground as the wolf head snapped at her. Though Anda had come to her in a sense the kirin wanted to be closer to the spirit's main body. Ducking under the wolf thingy she took off at a sprint, charging at Anda.

Shina knew the now broken vial wouldn't hold Konton for very long. She just hoped this magical body was as fleshless as it looked. She literally charged in to Anda, unsure of how being inside a magic field such as this would effect her but at this point Shina no longer cared. She had one goal, one last desperate move. Throwing the vial she was carrying toward what she hoped was the spirits core her horn then lit up, creating a fire so hot around the vial that it shattered, releasing the spirit inside it.

The shadows trailing Indicus lashed out at Anda's claws and body as he lunged with his own blade in itself it was nothing special but runes on the side of the blade glowed when he cast a spell on it. The runes were that of magical leeching and took any magic that the blade came in contact with a tool he used previously to make it easier to block unicorn spells and now he would use to harm the crazed spirit.

Fang watched Steelheart grow more and more restless and Anda's state worsened. She only took those crimson eyes off her when Lavender Moon began to speak. She slowly shook her head as the older flutter pony finished speaking. "No, why would I hate you?" She adjusted the wing covering Steelheart slightly to better cover the sleeping pony. "Or her?" She continued, "No I can't hate either of you. Not even Anda . . . "

Lavender Moon only smiled and replied- " Min Syster was right to believe in you..When this is all over, she will need you. All of you."

Standing up, she heaved a heavy and soulful sigh at the madness that had befallen her homeland.

Walking over to the edge of the ship she looked at the colors of magic radiating from the dragon and remarked- "I just hope we all live to see it."

In the far distance, a group of Pegasus could be seen approaching the island.

Meanwhile as Indicus's blade pierced the dragon's 'hide' it had the resistance of jelly.

A semi-firm tug with a sudden elastic snap to it, the pierced felt unsatisfying and bizarre.

The same could be said for Shina's charge as well.

As she pierced it, it felt like some vile form of overly set jell.

However once inside, the dense magic was in fact, thin and wispy like an early morning's fog.

It was this dense magic keeping in her more ethereal form.

The magic inside her was very similar to the fluctuating distortion from before, only much more intense.

As Shina charged deeper inside the massive beast, twisted faces began to form in every color.

Giant and distorted faces of wolves, dragons and all manner of feral beast began lounging at Shina; Snapping their jaws in protest to her invasion.

Shina did little more than cower from magically formed beasts that snapped at her. At the same time the overwhelming fluctuations of magic had the kirin's own magic on overdrive. Shina's entire body seemed to burst into flames, but none of this mattered to her anymore, she'd done all she could.

As ashes fell from the broken vial she'd throw toward the center of this mass of magic there was suddenly a spark that looked more like an explosion. From that spark came an eruption of flames growing and spreading into a roaring blaze the size of a large house in the matter of seconds. The flames quickly condensed and took shape till a fears looking Phoenix took shape with in the spirit.

Indicus sliced through some more confused and walked through the gel like substance then felt the magic around him grow even more wild Indicus watched Shina throw a glass vial of ashes towards the center and the resulting flames that occurred.
