Fandom My Little Pony Frontier

Indicus saw the stairway and went down into it able to see through the darkness with ease, "Why would the mayor have a room like this locked up." he wondered muttering to himself

-within the darkness-

It was the moment Indicus set hoof on the final step of the sub-basement that torches burst to life.

rare fire gems were set to react a floor trigger, igniting all the torches at once.

As the initial flare faded and the light equalized, the grizzly sight of the mayor secret came into view.

Rows of cages lined the walls, and the dank stench of rust and moldy earth filled the air.

From deeper within, the smell of rotten meat could be faintly be smelled.

from the looks of the layout it became painfully clear these cages weren't designed to hold Timber wolfs.

In the farthest most cage, the rattling of chains could be heard.

-In the skies-

Anda's anger had reached a new level with the only pony calming her gone.

Her once dainty wings now grew in size and took the shape of a dragons wings.

She began to breath deeply, and with each breath a small amount of flame could be seen escaping her lips.

Slowly she began her decent to the ground.

thunder reared and squealed a squeal that had been used to signal war on many occasions. the second catch penny. "You and me are going to fight. No wolves. No back up. Hoof to hoof you and me. " Thunder growled, slamming hooves down on either side of Catch Penny's chest, pinning him beneath his massive form.

"T-Thunder. Killing him will do you no good."Kadje coughed, trying to get up. "More blood on your hooves will do nothing for you sweetheart. Celestia will give him his punishment as she sees fit." Kadje stood, staggering and falling to the marble. sure Indicus had healed him but he was still sore. he'd been struck by lightning, fallen from deadly heights and broken four ribs, he was lucky to have survived today.

"You pit a wolf against a prince with the full intention of killing him... not only did you try to kill royalty but you also caused pain and suffering to pony kind who lived within your city and there is a spirit out there who has been wounded by you exploitation. Don't think you'll ever see daylight again. Be glad Kadje wants Celestia to deal with you or you'd have my horse shoes imbedded in your skull." Thunder's voice was low and angry, more of a wolf's growl. Kadje's magic flooded to form shackles around all four of Penny catch's legs hooves, freezing time around the areas and keeping his legs in one place.

"Thunder, you watch him. I'm going to see what the others have found." Kadje nodded. Kadje limped away, dispite Thunder's blatent worry. Thunder sat next to Penny Catch, cold blue eyes staring him directly in the face.

Shina couldn't help but smile hearing Firecracker wanting to get her somewhere safe. She was about to say the same to him. She didn't want to hurt his ego by rejecting his protection but she wasn't as frail as most fillies. "Right now we need to protect Steelheart. I fear the mayor has her sister prisoner already. The others are looking for her." Encouraging Firecracker to his feet Shina pressed her warm scaled side against his, giving him something to lean on to aid him in walking.

- in the manor-

Manor catch penny coughed and gagged trying to catch his breath. It was clear he wasn't use to anypony laying a hoof on him. As he starred at his cracked marble floor he saw small specks of blood dotting the once perfect design .

It was then a soft chuckle escaped from him as his monocle fell and shattered on the ground.

With a twisted grin he began to monologue- " You know.. I use to be much the same as you. a servant..No, more of a slave.

While the 'divine' sisters frittered away their time obsessing over the elements of harmony and their own enjoyment, who do you think ran canterlot economy? But even after years of dedicated serves do you think I was ever thought of as anything more then a commoner? HA! If I was even that to them.

But then I got my chance.. "

Still with that sick smile on his face he looked up at Thunder before going on- " After yet another vacation in far away lands they found a paradise. Who do you think they sent to survey it hmm? That's right, me. But their precious summer home kingdom wasn't as empty as they thought.. "

Again he laughed, this time more pronounced and clear before going on- " But I'm getting off topic.. My point is, do you think I give a mules ass what the princesses think? I knew my life was forfeit the moment I began my little insurrection.

I did all this to become something more then my station.

You may think you have something special with your prince, but you are the same as me.

You also came here to escape your station.. didn't you?

To become more then fate had designed for you.

His cold eyes fixed on Thunder, it was disturbing to think he was dead serious in everything he said.

-In the streets-

Firecracker could hardly believe what he was hearing.

He knew the mayor was a rat, but he never thought he was capable of doing something like that.

For all the effort he was putting forth, Firecracker knew almost nothing about what was going on.

Cleaning out an ear with his hoof, he asked " Wait, the blind pony from before? She's out in all this?!"

Straightening up his posture, Firecracker again lowered his goggles and announced- " We have to go, now."

Using his magic he hoisted the cannon back onto his back and tied the strap in a crude knot.

Turning back to Shina he motioned with his head for her to take the lead, and with a confidant smile he said " I got your back."

Fang gave a weak, sputtering cough. Specks of blood hitting the wooden floor. Groaning, she pushed herself to her feet, swaying slightly. Her entire body ached as blood oozed around the shards of wood jutting from her pained body. Her shattered wing dragged along the floor as she limped down the stairs and back into the raging storm. Even through her blurry vision, with one eye being forced closed by blood, she could see Anda's changing form. "No..."

As Anda descended to the ground the air felt more and more charged, despite the actual lightning calming down.

She was pulsing with magical energy the like of which not even the alicorns could match.

The second her hoofs touched the land it created shallow crater for a full meter around her.

It was as if it created a perfect circle of death to the land.

Her face had also began to change.

once beautiful, she now had long spiky teeth, and her hair had began to become course like spines.

In a distinctly lower voice, she asked-" Is there none of my granddaughters left? "

"Granddaughters . . .?" The bat pony murmured, confused. Finally it dawned on her as her open eye widened slightly. Steelheart and Lavender Moon, those were the only ones she could have been talking about. "A-anda!" She called weakly, a bolt of pain shooting through her ragged body. "There are, they're here . . ." She forced herself to move closer to the angered spirit.

Shina flashed Firecracker a light smile before turning to lead him over to Steelheart. As she approched her horn glowed for a moment, the ring of fire guarding the flutterpony seeming to implode in on it's self. "You ok?" She asked moving to press her side against Steelheart's to help guide her. "We should probably get you inside, but I don't trust that the mayor won't have traps with in any of the buildings he's constructed." Shina's slanted eyes narrowed in thought giving her a strangely focused look. "I almost feel like it might be safer in the forest..." She thought aloud her mind still searching for an answer.

Firecracker struggled to understand all the events going on at once.

but he also was at a loss for ideas on where to take the blind pony for safety.

Steel heart was looking pail and seemed sick as she said " Shina.. I don't feel strange. "

Pushing up his goggles Firecracker quipped- " You picked a heck of a time to get sick ."

Shaking her head weakly, she replied-" No.. I mean I feel like my magic is being drained"

Unaware of how flutter magic even works, he looked at Shina- " Is that even possible?"

Starring towards the center of town, Steelheart focused her gaze like she could actually see.

pointing a hoof in that direction she said " I think.. I think I need to go there. "

Firecracker tried to deter her saying "There's some really bad things going on that way. We need to get you out of here."

Looking to the forest, Firecracker weighed the options " You may be right."

Meanwhile as Anda walked, each of her stepped left a mall ring of dead, scorched earth around each hoof.

Walking the other direction, she couldn't hear Shadow Fangs weak cries at first.

hearing her voice, Anda turned to face her.

This showed that her eyes had also turned to sharp slits like a dragons as well.

The bat pony continued her slow, painful limp towards the spirit. Her vision blurred again, how badly had she been wounded by crashing through that wall? "Flutter ponies," she said just trying to keep her thoughts straight. "There are two here . . . trying to stop . . ." She shook her head a little, only making herself dizzy, "Trying to save . . . "

"I don't really know about flutterpony magic." Shina admitted. "I've heard old pony tails that my people gained their magic from dragons, but I don't know where flutterpony's get their magic from." For moment her attention shifted between the two ponies, unsure if she should take Steelheart toward the raging storm, or get her somewhere safe as Firecracker suggested. "I-I think we should listen to Steelheart. I'm sure she can sense where her magic will be strongest. Whatever is causing this mess may have some way to restoring her strength." She finally decided, hopping Steelheart was sensing something they couldn't. With out waiting for an answer Shina piratically slid under Steelheart to help the weakened flutterpony on to her back so they could travel a bit faster. "Alright, you guide me this time." She said back over her shoulder at Steelheart with a bit of a playful smirk.

Her once dainty wings now grew in size and took the shape of a dragons wings.

She began to breath deeply, and with each breath a small amount of flame could be seen escaping her lips.

Slowly she began her decent to the ground.
Indicus thinking that the mayor may heve traped Steelheart ran to the last cage hoping his charge was okay and upon arriving he used what little of his magic he could muster to distroy the chains and the door in to the cage overpowering any enchantments that could have been in place the action further drained him and the hunger grew to almost un ignorable amounts.

Thunder snarled at him even sugjesting he was any less of what he was to Kadje. Kadje loved him like a husband should... right? Thunder was silent for a moment before remembering when they were kids. Kadje could easily have had him arrested and treated as a juvenile delinquent, could have had him disposed of on many occasions. Many nights Kadje would even prove his feelings to the war horse, and every night spent with Kadje was like a sweet dream. Thunder loved everything about Kadje, his goofy antics, his delicate heart and even his most horrific flaws. It irritated him how easy to forgive Kadje was, truthful to a fault and stuborn as a mule... yet he loved every minute of it.

"To even sugjest that Kadje sees me as less of a lover than a commoner is foolish. I don't kill for a man I don't belive to be worth it. Be glad I love him more than I hate you." Thunder growled. He did not come here to escape his position at all... in truth, he had an entirely different plan for their little vacation.

Thunder reached into the small saddle bag he carried placing a ring box on the ground. "I didn't come here to escape my position. I came here to do something he couldn't get the balls to do at home." He opened the box, looking onto the ring he had made in Ponyville by a rather sweet young filly named rarity. It was just perfect for him. A golden band with a pretty sizable rock set in the middle.

-------

Kadje limped outside to the blustering storm. "Anda. I can probably help you fix this if you'll listen. We can work this out together. a compromise." Kadje let Fang lean on his shoulder to keep standing. "Time magic can do amazing things. First priority is to find those flutterponies. then we can work on reversing the damage done. but we'll need your help, and you'll have our support." Kadje had managed to hear the bit about granddaughters and was able to piece it together. he was confidant his friends would free them in short time, now to try and talk anda down to reasonable level and it looked like Fang was short of breath.

Kadje held out a hoof for the spirit. "Don't go through this alone."

- In the streets-

Anda leered at the alicorn she had cast away earlier.

Her eyes full of hateful scorn, and her heart broken and callas

She took a few steps towards the two of them, the earth continuing to die with each step.

In a voice now completely different from her old one she commanded " I am done with your race's 'compromises' ! "

A deep fissure began to split the road she stood on.

She gave one last warning "Show me that your race is worth sparring. bring me the remaining elements of redemption, or I will burn not only this land, but the land these parasites came from.

-on the outskirts-

Firecracker couldn't but smile back as he knew it was going to be one of those days.

heaving a sigh he muttered " Its a good day to die."

As he lead the charge back he shouted - "Shina.. I know it's a bad time, but I just want you to know that these past days have been some of the best-" Laughing to himself he added-" and strangest of my life. "

Looking back over his shoulder as they ran he went on " I don't know how all this will end, but if we don't make it out.. I just want you to know-"

Tripping over a downed tree, Firecracker was interrupted as he was sent tumbling.

-In the darkness of the dungeon-

As the last of the chains fell to the floor in a metallic clatter, a figure emerged from the darkness.

But it was not the Steelheart, but rather her sister Lavender Moon.

Lunging from the shadows she shouted "Jag svor de sju vindar jag kommer att skicka dig till den lägsta ringen i helvetet!"

(I swear to the seven winds I will send you to the lowest ring of hell)

As she reached inches from Indicu's face she stopped,- " It's you?"

It was apparent she expecting a less favored guest

Indicus looked at Lavender Moon, looked at where he believed the mayor to be then back at Lavender Moon, "Yes it's me, I got separated from Steelheart while fighting timber wolves, I believe she is with Shina though I don't know where." Indicus fought his hunger and weariness pissed that he was seperated from the one he swore on his blood to protect and still wanting to find out how Steelheart was fairing.

Inside the manor Mayor Catchpenny looked at the ring box.

"My my, the Carousel Boutique. Id'e know that emblem anywhere. " He commented.

Looking back at Thunder the mayor began to connive- " So this is why your so passionate about my little attempt on the royal's life. I made matters personal didn't I?. Well, let me ask you this, What do you think his kingdom would think eh?

lets say he returns your level of affection, your still a commoner, a no-pony. you could never hope to get them to accept you as an heir. It would end you both.."

Kadj stumbled as the earth beneath him quivered. "They're retrieving your granddaughters right now. But until then we should wait... but for now... perhaps I could do some fixing." Kadje remained pretty calm. he looked nearby, seeing a rather extravagant fountain. red desert sand engulfed the creation and soon it reverted to the tree that was standing there before it was even build. He then saw a tree stump near by and decided to cast the rewind spell on it too, a large weeping will took it's place, looking as brilliant as it did before it was cut down.

"See. all this destruction. it can be undone. Catch Penny was just a bad apple, sweetheart. You may think all of pony kind doesn't care, but we do." Red shimmer began engulfinmg many small objects and statues, rewinding time to set them back to the way they were before the town was here. However, the buildings were still standing. most had some vines growing on them, but still standing. he'd need some time to do anything large like buildings. but, he felt the need to give her reassurance that it could be done.

----

Thunder was infuriated by Penny's words, so much so that he delivered a brutal kick to the gut. "You think I care what the people say about us? Kadje has every right to say no should he wish. but he accepts this burden as well. The citizens cannot turn their backs on the prince who has treated them so kindly for so long simply for his choice in lovers... and should the entire nation of Saddle Arabia turn against him, I will still be there."

The scales on Shina's cheeks flushed a soft rose color as Firecracker spoke. The color quickly faced though seeing him fall. Rushing over she skidded to a stop, nearly dropping Steelheart. "Are you alright?" She asked quickly. Leaning her head down she gently nudged Firecracker to help him to his feet.

Rubbing the back of his head Firecracker laughed to himself saying " I'm not exactly the hero type. but- "

His sentence cut short by the sight of the partly transformed Anda.

pointing a hoof towards the dragon pony he let out a less then calm " what the heck is wrong with that pony? is she the cause of all this?"

Surprisingly Steelheart walked forward with perfect balance and focus.

Nodding her head she said " Yes.. She is Anda. The very life of this island.. In so many ways, she is like a grandmother to all flutter pony."

Standing back up Firecracker replied " I see..wait, you can see her?"

Again nodding her head Steelheart replied " Flutter pony are more magic then mare. She is a being of pure magic."

It then became clear that Lavender Moon meant what she said in a literal sense.

That herself, Anda, and even Steelheart were beings more magic in nature then flesh and blood.

Suddenly Steelheart began to move forward towards the creature.

And as she did, her eyes began to glow with a strange magic.

As she did, Anda broke her hateful leer at Kadje and turned towards the flutterpony.

Taking a few steps towards her, her spiny hair began to soften again, and her fangs shortened.

Her hateful eyes looked softer and more caring.

As Steelheart walked her hoof prints left mall sprigs of life.

From each step indention, a small flower bloomed forth.

Dumbstruck at what was going on, Firecracker only looked on, moth agape.

It didn't even occur to him that maybe this was dangerous.

Once Anda was only 5 meters away, her wings began to shorten as she spoke in a more normal voice " Purity.."

Stopping at this distance, they seemed to just stare at each other.

Neither one seemed ready to move any closer.

-In the manor-

The mayor coughed and gagged as he staggered back to a seating position.

Struggling to speak, he still tried his worming ways- " My *cough* my. Such a..Spirited Stallion. I admit I'm jealous.

If I had such a passionate view of the world, perhaps our paths wouldn't be so skewed.

with a small trail of blood coming from his mouth he again grinned and remarked - " But then, like I said, we are very much alike. If your not careful colt, you will become just like me."

surveying his grandiose manor he added- " Passion and lust, for love or for power, are two sides to the same bit"

Fang leaned her weakened form against the lithe Alicorn that appeared at her side. She wasn't about to object to the extra support in staying on her hooves. "Elements of Redemption . . ." She murmured, eyes closed in thought. Anda was looking for ponies that proved the world wasn't beyond saving, that much was certain. But who else could they be missing? Her ears turned towards Anda as she walked towards someone else quietly saying the word "Purity."

Purity, Empathy . . . That would mean she's seen at least two of these elements. But how many more were there?

Shina could only watch as Steelheart confronted Anda. This was a land and magic she was unfamiliar with, and so she feared any interference might return whatever Anda was to her rage. Instead she turned her attention to anything else she could do to help. Her Fuchsia eyes shifted to Fang and Kadj. The batpony certainly didn't look to be in good shape and the alicorn didn't appear much better off.

Leaning toward Firecracker she gently nudge him with her shoulder to get his attention, nodding to the other two ponies. "Do you know any healing spells? Those two don't look too good. I'm only capable of cauterizing bleeding wounds." Shina said making sure to keep her voice low so as not to interrupt Steelheart or Anda.

Firecracker shook his head and began to dig in his pack saying " My dear you deserve the help of a top rate magician, unfortunately you'll have to settle for the service a second rate klutz" as he dug out some basic first aid gear.

Carefully he helped Shina creep along until they were close enough to Kadje and Shadow Fang to be heard.

Motioning them to come over he called "Psst psst over here." Making sure to keep his voice down.

Whatever it was causing the two of them to have a stand off, was at least keeping the destruction down.

Finally Anda spoke " In my time here I have seen Empathy, Selflessness... And of course you.. my purity. But is that truly enough to spare them my filly?"

Steelheart only stared back with an unbroken gaze as she replied " There is more grandmother Anda.. I to have seen..or at least felt many redeeming qualities in these pony. "

Anda's eye gave a slight twitch as she gave a warning that even she seemed uncomfortable with- " Then they best show themselves soon. for my time is short, and my judgment is final"

-in the dungeon-

Lavender Moon eyed Indicus up and down, sensing something was unwell about the pony aside from his obvious injuries.

Shaking it off for more important matters she announced- " You are my syster's guard yes? We must go to her!"

Walking over to the only torch that still wasn't lit on the far wall she added- " I've seen the villain use this secret exit."

Pulling the torch like a lever, a wall opened right before Indicus's eyes.

While the sudden light was almost blinding to both of them, Lavender Moon could be seen silhouetted demanding-

"We must go!"

Indicus nodded and followed, wanting to find Steelheart quickly before something worse happened and he could not protect her. His eyes adjusted to the torch light quickly but he knew that once they went outside the sun would blind him even more even with the clouds. Shaking the thoughts away he ignored his pain and hunger and continued to follow Lavender Moon.

"I think I would rather have the klutz then the magician." Shina replied with a warm smile. She followed Firecracker around to the others, careful not to draw attention to her self or Firecracker as they approved Fang and Kadj.
