Fantasy Mrs. Evans' School for the Gifted

Azalea had not noticed either of the twos reaction to her laugh, she didn't even notice she had. She was too busy enjoying herself for once. Inside she had that warm fuzzy feeling, like she did when she'd been around her sisters, or dancing. Like home.

Azalea scowled as the flask was taken from her hands, although she was still visibly grinning, maybe even smiling. She felt happy. Despite sitting next to the person who'd pinned her down an hour earlier, and temporarily paralyzed her. Which sounded much stranger in her head. Or maybe it was the alcohol getting to her, she'd always been such a lightweight.

Azalea scoffed as he teased her. "Riiiiight. Says the hybrid that can't lose." Azalea teased back with a grin.

Cat leaned on her chair, watching the exchange with interest. She pondered if the laugh counted as a win or not and she furrowed her brows. Azalea almost seemed the genuinely like Sorren. Which was odd. But she couldn't get another question out of her mind.

"Hey Az," Cat began to ask, Azalea turned and looked at Cat, still grinning. "Where'd you learn to move like that? I mean Kole said you danced but I-"

"I beg you're pardon?" Azalea asked, cutting her off and going rigid. Surely she didn't hear her correctly. Surely he wouldn't.

"Kole. He's new here?" Cat raised her eyebrows like Azalea should've known.  "I spoke to him at lunch, he's quite dashing and such a gentleman, he says he knows you? I mean how could you forget a face like that, those eyes..POW!" Cat said excitedly, droning on about Kole as if he were a prince.

Azalea's happy warmth she had felt was replaced with cold dread and fear. Cat continued to talk but Azalea couldn't hear her anymore, she didn't even notice her hand digging into the arm of the couch, her lips were pressed so thinly together they weren't even visible. She'd imagined Keeper attempting to send people after her like he always had, but to show up at her school was another thing. And so was interacting with Cat, who no doubt had blabberd her mouth off to Keeper and fed him everything she could.

"Oh! I almost forgot. He asked for a dance with you Az. Isn't that sweet?" Cat asked with a grin. Of course Azalea would never go for it. She wondered how he knew Azalea.

"Very." Azalea said in a strained voice, doing her best to look annoyed as she usually would have.

Azalea paled, turning ashen. Her face was blank, although tense, her jaw clenched, she could feel her heartbeat beating almost a million beats per second, she thought it might even burst. Keeper was making a message by communicating with Cat. He could go after anyone.

"Anyway, what about you Sorren? You couldn't catch Az but you moved pretty good. Where'd you learn those moves?" Cat asked with a grin, oblivious to Azalea.

The hybrid leaned back on the sofa, resting an arm on the side of it. Sorren felt somewhat relaxed, the apprehension he had felt earlier had slightly dissipated due to his exchange with Azalea. Sorren would never not be on guard though, he hadn’t felt comfortable enough ever since the incident. He thought he could never be too careful.

Sorren continued to grin at Azalea as she teased him in return, as he sat with her he almost forgot about keeping up his walls. For a moment, Sorren was about to ease into asking her an assortment of questions before he caught himself; she was the pinnacle of his interest at that instant so naturally he wanted to know more about her as a person. Sorren immediately dismissed such thoughts however, not wishing to broadcast that he at all was enticed by Azalea.

As Cat began to speak Sorren listened intently, expecting another amusing joke from her. Instead, he was left quite shocked. She had mentioned Kole and judging from Azalea. It was that Kole. Sorren was now familiar with him from Azalea’s memories but never supposed that he would actually ever have the possibility of seeing him.

Sorren glanced over at Azalea, not surprised at her reaction to the mentioning of Keeper. A hand dug into the couch and her face was blank as she attempted to go back to her usual demeanour. A couple seconds passed where Sorren thought about what to do, this Keeper was obviously no joke. He flipped Azalea’s whole world upside down and managed to change her in a way that she would most likely never return fully to her previous self. Sorren wondered why she had not just killed Keeper with abilities like hers, maybe she had never had the chance, maybe he was protected in some way, or maybe he was too powerful for her.

There was no way to comfort someone after what she had been through, thus Sorren just looked at her and held out the flask. “You look like you need it”, he managed in a cool tone just before Cat brought him back to reality by asking him a question.

Sorren went a little stiff at the inquiry. He didn’t talk about himself, Sorren was the one who usually asked the questions. It brought things to mind that he had been suppressing. Sorren looked over at Cat and feigned a grin, acting as if the question didn’t mildly throw him off. “Oh, I just picked them up”, he said bluntly still with a half a smirk on his face.

He dodged the question and so wanted to change the subject. “When can I start calling you Az?”, he said while turning and gazing at Azalea with a roguish grin. Sorren had already been on top of her so couldn’t resist the temptation in asking if she would let him on nickname basis. Plus, he figured it was better than talking about Kole.

Azalea eyes flicked in between the two, bringing brought back to attention at Cat's question  to Sorren, oblivious as ever. Azalea felt his eyes on her but she didn't dare meet the gaze. She blinked, she'd almost lost herself down here. Azalea calmed herself, at least slightly. She'd have to get out of here soon without looking like she was in a rush to flee.

Azalea took her hand from the arm of the couch, which left nail imprints in the leather and closed it around her necklace, running her finger over the small amulet. It had protected her once from Keeper. It would again. Azalea was snapped back to attention as Sorren's hand was outstretched, with the flask. Azalea bitterly swiped it from his hand, although her stomach churned and she felt like throwing up.

Azalea took a sip of the flask and watched the exchange between Cat and Sorren. Her eyes seemed to catch everything and she narrowed them at he went stiff. Soon she'd find out allll his secrets. She noticed the way he dodged the question and spun back on her. Azalea cocked her head at his question and managed to suppress a thin, cold smile.

"When I'm lying in my own grave." Azalea said in a honey sweet tone. Her smile became even colder. She had to remember the game, and not just the one with Sorren. Cat shook her head disapprovingly with a snicker across the room, there Azalea went again, making sure people knew the side of her that didn't care or feel.

Sorren felt the familiar chill that had been missing from Azalea for the shortest amount of time as she replied to him. Her usual coldness present in her eyes. Sorren expected it to return but that didn't mean he necessarily would be prepared for it. Although, that side of Azalea was what first drew him to her, it intrigued him but that didn't mean he liked it. At least not often.

Sorren snorted and gave her a wry grin in reply, "Well that can certainly be arranged", he said as he shrugged his shoulders. As if arranging her burial would be no big deal. He looked over at Cat, his eyes still gleamed with mischief, "Since you asked me a question, I think it's only fair that I ask you one in return". Sorren began to examine his finger nails, as if he were bringing up the most casual of topics, he nonchalantly continued. "Why have you stayed friends with...", he nodded is head in the direction of Azalea with a smug smirk, "That".

The comment aimed at Azalea was meant as a bit of a payback for her remark but also because Sorren assumed that the topic of the question would be rather interesting. The hybrid made sure to focus his acute hearing to listen to the beating of Cat's heart, to see if she would be honest when answering. He raised his eyebrows as he looked at her, curious as to her reply.

In the back of his mind, Sorren knew that he had better leave soon, he didn't know how long exactly he had been down here with Cat and Azalea but she had to be a least somewhat recovered. The return of her iciness was another hint that perhaps she was going to make a move. He didn't know what but his gut told him that he didn't want to find out. Sorren considered himself to have won his challenge with Azalea and he wasn't about to squander that fact, he had something over her and he liked it.

Cat along with Sorren, also felt the chill from Azalea and grimaced. She couldn't help but feel it had to do with Kole, and now that she noticed, she could see Azalea looked a little tense and pale. She brushed it off, slightly irritated that Azalea had dampened their parade.  She snickered at Sorren's statement to Azalea, who couldn't help but scowl.

Azalea herself was feeling stronger. Strong enough to attack Sorren's mind and see his past. She glanced at Cat, trying to catch her eyes without moving. She knew Sorren would pick up on anything. But Cat was too intrigued with Sorren, who was asking a question, bringing Azalea out of her thoughts. Azalea scowled further as Sorren made a little dog at her, most likely for her cold demeanor. Cat on the other hand grinned, glad Sorren had done it.

Cat herself bit her lip. She furrowed her brows, and Azalea herself leaned forward a bit, interested in her answer, her dark eyes glinting. "Well... I..um. She's...errr.." Cat began, but was cut off as her phone buzzed, taking this as an easy getaway, considering Sorren had dodged her question.

Cat checked her phone and perked up, attempting to divert the attention away from herself. Azalea took the liberty of noticing Cat's bracelet was missing.  Thinking Azalea would perk up Cat spoke.

"I invited Kole to the cave. He's on his way." Cat blurted excitedly, thinking Azalea would be happy at the news.

Instead she received the opposite. Azalea stood up so sharply she almost jumped. "You invited him? To the caves?" Azalea asked through gritted teeth. Her jaw clenched and her tone was as cold as ice, her eyes bore into Cat's and Cat shriveled under her withering look.

"I just thought. I thought you were friends so I invited him to the caves.." Cat said trailing off as Azalea's hands tightened on the flask before quickly saying, angry "Why does it matter if he sees the cave? It's just a stupid hideout." Cat said angrily.

Azalea looked like she wanted to murder Cat. She couldn't stop the words that seemed to flow easily through her mouth. "The only thing stupid here is you," Azalea spat. "And oblivious, and shallow." She said, her fists clenched at her side.

Cat shriveled in further her chair, she knew Azalea was cold but this was unlike her. It was like Azalea was having a meltdown, but the worst kind.

"And you!-" Azalea spun on Sorren. Azalea wanted to scold him for being so hard to hate for a moment, but new that would be stupid. "You're no better! You followed us into a cave! You could be dead!" Azalea shook her head before turning and fuming out of the cave they had holed themselves up in.

Sorren tilted his head in curiosity as he waited for Cat's reply, only for her to evade the question by the buzzing of her phone. The hybrid let out a small laugh, it seemed that she had been saved by the alert, she clearly didn't know what to say. However, as she spoke about what the alert was, Sorren realised that it had definitely not saved her. It probably did the opposite. The hybrid rolled his eyes out of agitation, the day was going briskly downhill.

Just then, Azalea shot up and intensely glared at Cat. He could tell this wasn't going to be good. Far from it in fact, as the words that were spat out of Azalea's mouth were incredibly harsh. It was more about the venom in which she spoke the words with than the actual words. Especially to someone who seemed to be her only friend. Sorren felt bad for Cat, of course she was oblivious, Azalea didn't tell anyone anything; he had to force the memories out of her to know. There was no way she could have known Kole was linked to Azalea in such a way. If she herself was fooled by him what did she expect of Cat. Sorren assumed she just said these things in the heat of the moment though, not being able to believe she would truly mean such things towards her closest friend.

Sorren didn't expect Azalea to turn on him, hence why his face was blank as she spoke, her speech took him somewhat by surprise. He sighed, frustrated, as she began to storm out of the cave. Azalea was understandably emotional but she didn't have to take it out on the people who weren't trying to kill her. Sorren resisted the urge to hit her back with some strident words, knowing it would be for the best.

He glanced over at Cat who seemed to have become part of the chair she was sitting on, he didn't blame her. Sorren nodded towards her with a weak smile, not knowing what to say that could reconcile for such abuse. Sorren got up and was next to Azalea in an instant, he grabbed her arm and swung her to face towards him. "Are you an idiot" he said, his voice taut with anger, "You do know that if you go out there alone, you might as well be dead already", he said with a grimace. Azalea kept running and Kole kept following, it would be a never ending cycle. But now he had come after her himself, how was she going to cope with Keeper in the flesh here.

Azalea instantly regretted her words to Cat and Sorren. But she didn't care. It was better she didn't have "friends". Keeper knew how to use them against her. Her boots clacked and echoed throughout the cave as she maneuvered herself through the rocky twists and turns, anger clouded her mind. She was going to kill Keeper. She was going to kill him in the slowest way possible.

Azalea felt an arm close around her upper arm and was pulled back, she'd been expecting it to be Keeper but to her surprise she was faced with an angry Sorren. "What makes you think I won't kill him?" Azalea snarled, attempting to yank her arm out of her grip. She knew in the back of her mind she was thinking irrationally, but she could only think of one thing. Kill Keeper.

Sorren didn’t know why he was so angry about Azalea running towards seemingly certain death, at least that was what he was telling himself. Sorren was all too familiar with death’s presence but he didn’t like to see anyone die because of foolishness. In the moment, he just wanted to stop her from making an irrational decision – he didn’t plan any words to say and so they just flowed out of his mouth.

The intense urge to just grab Azalea and force her to not make an unwise decision was almost irresistible. Sorren was used to either getting what he wanted or taking it. The hybrid huffed with frustration, “If you were going to kill him you would have done it by now”, he let go of her arm but continued to gaze into her eyes with his own fierce emerald ones. “Nobody just lets someone like him live, so if you’re going to kill him…”, Sorren paused and took a deep breath to calm himself slightly, “I’m going to help you”.

Sorren knew that there was a slim possibility of changing Azalea’s mind when she was set on doing something, which he assumed was a result of her supreme stubbornness. Therefore, his only option was to aid her in killing Keeper; he would rather Kole die than her. Sorren knew that she wouldn’t gladly accept his assistance but she was getting it whether she liked it or not.

I need you to be honest with me for once”, Sorren ran a hand through his hair, to steady his mind so he could think straight before asking a barrage of questions. "Can he die naturally, as in human ways? Do you know any of his weaknesses? Or just any relevant information that will allow us to kill him?”, he questioned matter-of-factly, not in the mood for sarcasm or games. Sorren moved forward a few steps and then glanced back at her over his shoulder, wanting to walk and talk.

Personally, Sorren didn’t know what he would have done if the tragedy that happened to Azalea happened to him. He didn’t want to think about it. The most accurate guess would be that Sorren would have been blinded by rage and have attempted to have taken Keeper’s life multiple times if the first hadn’t worked – which definitely could have gotten him killed. Azalea ran, she was understandably scared and in shock so he didn’t think any less of her for reacting in such a way. She also wasn’t a hybrid so a blind rage would have most likely ended in her demise. Now though, she had the chance for some well deserved payback. It just depended on how she used that chance.

Azalea didn't understand his frustration. After all, she wasn't exactly a cup of tea. In fact, she was doing everything possible to drive people away. Azalea was driven with revenge. She was tired. So tired. Tired of running. Keeper had caught her and her sisters in a web they couldn't climb out of, and Azalea was the last one standing. It tore at her heartstrings.

Azalea slightly wilted at Sorren's fierce stare. His eyes were so green. Pow. Sorren's words brought her back to attention as he said he would help her. Her head snapped up. She opened her mouth to stubbornly object but he barreled on.

Azalea clamped her mouth shut as he continued. She was a bit shocked at his question. He was smarter then she thought. Azalea hesitated before joining him at his side as they walked and Azalea spoke, trying to speak a low as possible since their voices echoed and carried throughout the caves.

"There were stories...on Kole. When we had first discovered the pavilion, he had said he was not living or dead, he was simply...undead." Azalea's pace was quick, but her eyes took in ever cave they entered as they made the way to the entrance. "Back in his time, when he lived, he was a monster, as you can imagine." Azalea said in a cold voice before barreling on. "When people turned against him...some people say he took a blood oath. That's where the story takes multiple pathways. Nobody knows what he swore on. People made up stories as time went on and the truth got buried." Azalea sounded hopeless as she said this. "Then he was killed in the manor by my ancestor. First poisoned. Then burned. Then decapitated." Azalea sounded somewhat happy or amused at this.

"My ancestor unfortunately lived to be a very long age. He went mad. Convinced Kole's essence still remained in the brick and panneling. Even his son, eventually went mad. Guess they weren't so crazy after all." She says bitterly. "Keeper had told me once, he couldn't die. Obviously the blood oath keeps him alive. Or he would've been less then dust." Azalea shook her head. Her head cleared more now that she focused on something more than anger. But the more she spoke the more hopeless she felt.

Azalea stopped sulking and sharply looked at him. "But that won't matter because you're not involved. This is my fight not yours, which reminds me, nothing's changed. We aren't pals just because you want to be a saint," Azalea said with a tone that said it wasn't up for discussion.

When were people gonna get that having friends we're a bad idea? "You're not helping." Azalea said firmly before storming slightly ahead, although she knew she couldn't shake him off that easy. She was just about to climb up the entrance when--

"Ah, my lady."

Keeper's chocolate smooth voice came out from behind Sorren and Azalea.
8da8a88c43ab86bfc154c52d747694ce.jpg
Azalea whipped around, and there he was, as soundless as midnight. Leaning against a cave wall. He looked roguishly amused. His appearance had changed. He no longer looked like he'd come from his time. His midnight hair was no longer in a ponytail, but he still dressed in all black. And his black dead, cold empty eyes remained the same.

Azalea's hand instinctively shot to her necklaces which gleamed silver from the sunlight.

Keeper flinched.

His eyes took in Azalea's set jaw and murderous eyes. Then flicked to her necklace. Ha. Touch me now bitch.  Azalea thought smugly. His eyes then took in Sorren, his black eyes gleamed and Azalea felt an unknown surge of protectiveness and grew angrier and her eyes turned her familiar jet black in warning, her face stony. How dare he. After all he'd done. He'd already made a point with Cat. He would kill anyone that got in his way.

Keeper's rakish eyes took in Sorren and Azalea and he smiled a thin, cold smile, showing his long dimples. His eyes seemed to stare right into you're soul and Azalea couldn't help but slightly shrivel.

His smile grew colder.

He leaned against the rock wall, his black silhouette cutting sharply against the earthly browns, staring at the two with his dashing laziness and Azalea kept her mouth clamped shut for fear if she opened it it'd get them both killed. His long fingers twirled with something in his hands, and it dawned on Azalea it was Cat's bracelet. He must've stolen it from her at lunch. Azalea flinched. His words echoed in her head:

I am called Keeper for a reason, I like to keep. You have known me thus long.

I'm going to kill him.

The pair walked through the cave, Azalea talking and Sorren listening intently to what she was saying. He was trying to deduce anything he could from the information that she provided. He was undead, like Sorren, meaning he couldn’t be killed in human ways or simply naturally. Keeper also took a blood oath, which signifies that his existence rides on the tangibility of an object; any object, person or thing. While the thing he swore on was still in one piece, Sorren assumed there was no way Keeper could die.

Sorren subconsciously raised a finger to his chin and lightly tapped it, So he swore on something, which could be anything in the world. From the necklace around Azalea’s neck to a tree in a forest of identical trees or-. Sorren sighed, he thought to himself about how difficult this task could prove to be; he didn’t know the limitations of a blood oath so the possibilities were endless. However, it being challenging made it all the more fun.

As Azalea began speaking again Sorren rolled his eyes and frowned. She could be so stubborn. He was about to counteract her statement with some harsh logic until she briskly strode ahead. He made a promise to himself that when this was over, Azalea was going to get one right mouthful from him. He could only bottle up so many words. “Oh, you’re burning in a fire? Sorry, I can’t help you because we’re not pals” Sorren mumbled under his breath as he followed Azalea, “Apparently, you have to be friends with someone to not want them to die” he uttered, wishing Kalin was around so he had someone to rant to.

Although she annoyed him beyond belief, Sorren wasn’t going to not get involved. Since when had he ever listened to Azalea? The two were just about to reach the entrance when a man’s voice came from behind them, as smooth as silk. Azalea spun around straight away but Sorren knew who it was, it couldn’t be anybody else. He lazily spun on his heels and his eyes rested on the figure of Keeper. The hybrid noticed he looked different from the memories as he gave him a once over.

Sorren didn’t fail to notice him flinch as Azalea grasped her necklace despite his calm and collected demeanour. From what Sorren could tell it looked like a plain, simple silver necklace so he wondered why it would cause him to flinch. It had to hold some significance. Sorren looked at him with a grin, not at all fazed by him yet, “Don’t you think it’s rather bad mannered to not introduce yourself when becoming acquainted with a stranger”, he said mockingly. Sorren obviously knew who he was but how would Keeper know that.

(( It's the necklace right? I even went back and read the memories to refresh them in my mind. Like if it's not the necklace I'm gonna cry ;_; ))

Azalea's anger had diminished, turning into cold fear. Azalea kept her hand wrapped around her cool amulet, it always brought her some sort of reassurance. She didn't know why. But Keeper stayed away from her when she held it, and that was all she needed.

Azalea gritted her teeth as Sorren mocked Keeper. This will not play out well. Azalea thought bitterly, she glanced up at the hole, streaming sunlight through, so close to the exit.

Azalea turned back and Keeper's black eyes bore into her own, she held his gaze defiantly, and he smiled, gently. His gaze shifted from Azalea to Sorren.

"Ah, forgive my manners," Keeper said in a silk voice, he swept in a bow that was almost mocking, how graceful he rippled. Somehow that made it worse. As he straightened, his gaze fixiated on Sorren.

"The hybrid. Naturally. Chatty told me so much about you." Keeper said in a smooth voice, a smile played at the corner of his lips, showing a hint of one long dimple.

Azalea took a step back as quietly as she could. Taking another glance at the exit.

"And you," Keeper said, startling her. "Miss Azalea, I am pleased to see you here." he said.

"Too bad I can't say the same." Azalea sharply retorted, her fingers dug into her palms at her sides.

Cat entered the large cavern area, still looking wounded. She brightened at seeing Kole, "Hey Kole!" she exclaimed happily in greeting, Keeper turned to her, smiling kindly, his black eyes eyed her mischievously.

"So your friend-oh-er-not--not friends..." Cat said, catching Azalea's murderous eyes. She suddenly felt uneasy and feeling the tension in the room, her face blushed red with embarrassment.

"Sorren." Azalea said sharply, causing Keeper's black eyes to narrow in on her. Azalea tried not to shake. "I believe Cat's had to much to drink. Would you ever so kindly escort her back to school?" Azalea said in a low dangerous tone, her eyes cold, Keeper and her locked in stares, the tension was thick.

Cat caught on. Azalea was trying to get them to leave. "Yes," Cat said slowly. "I'm feeling a little lightheaded." Cat said moving towards the entrance. Azalea shot a glare at Sorren, basically signaling him to follow.

"Ah! But we were just getting acquainted." Keeper said looking roguishly amused. His voice smooth, his eyes flicked towards the entrance.

Without warning, the cave rumbled and shook, Cat gasped as silver vines and thorns sprouted from the cave walls and masked the entrance. He would not let them leave.

Azalea whipped around. "Enough of you're games Keeper. This business is between you and me. They have nothing to do with it." Azalea snarled.

Keeper smiled, his white teeth gleamed. "Actually, my lady, as of now they have everything to do with this." He said with a long-dimpled smile, but his face was deadly serious.

Sorren stood with his back straight and his hands placed comfortably in his trouser pockets. The hybrid understood why Azalea feared Keeper so but he simply didn’t. Sorren had met nobody who truly instilled fear into him ever since he became a hybrid. Keeper was just like another person to him.

Sorren wore an amused smile as Keeper bowed, he could already tell how much they were going to dislike each other. “Only good things I hope”, he said with a perfunctory smile. Sorren watched the interaction between Keeper and Azalea with interest, thinking of how if Keeper were in fact killable at this very moment, he would no longer be breathing from the look in Azalea’s eyes.

Just then, Cat walked into the area where the three had been standing, completely clueless as to what had been happening. As she greeted Keeper, Sorren couldn’t stop a hand raising to his head and two fingers pressing into his temple as he slowly blinked. If anything, he was embarrassed for her.

He glanced over at Azalea as she mentioned his name but her eyes were locked with Keeper’s. They were locked in such a way that it appeared they were trying to murder each other with only their gaze. Azalea had practically told him to leave with Cat. Sorren hated to be told what to do, it being Azalea only made it worse. Nevertheless, he could tell this was a situation where he just had to suck it up. “Of course” he said through gritted teeth as he went to move towards the exit.

Unfortunately, Keeper had other ideas. As Cat and him went to leave Keeper used magic to cover up the exit and prevent their departure. Sorren sighed, of course it wouldn’t be that easy. As Azalea spoke, Sorren flicked his eyes over to Cat and took calculated, subtle steps closer to her - to better position himself for if Keeper made a move.

Sorren maintained a collected and kempt appearance on the outside but on the inside he was conflicted. He didn’t know what to do about Keeper, he couldn’t do anything without knowing what he swore on. Sorren could always fall back on biting him, because of the blood oath it wouldn’t kill him but it would incapacitate him for a few hours; well at least that is what it did to the few that could withstand a hybrid bite, Sorren didn’t know if Keeper was at all different.

Sorren’s eyes glimpsed at Azalea but then rested on Keeper, he projected a thought into his mind with a monotonous tone, hoping Azalea would detect it.

I’ve got Cat. I won’t get involved. But if you die I’m going to find a way to resurrect you just so I can kill you myself.

She better kill him he thought as he stared blankly at Keeper, preparing to read his movements.

@DarknessSpirit

((B-But that's cruel! Please give me a hint at least otherwise I'm gonna have a mental breakdown, I'm not good with waiting No but seriously, I beg that you give me a hint like have you already mentioned whatever he swore on in a previous post?))

Azalea caught Sorren's subtle movements, and so did Keeper, although the two were locked in stares, his thin smile became colder. Azalea caught Sorren's thought with ease and she hid her relief from Keeper. Cat would be fine, and as much as Azalea hated to think it, Sorren would be fine too. That is, if they left here alive.

I don't doubt it.

Azalea thought, hoping Sorren would catch it.

Azalea had expected Keeper to go for Cat, and apparently so had he. Cat's purple bracelet glittered in his hand and flashed in the light, Cat caught the movement.

"Oh! My bracelet!" Cat said, looking relived, she began to stride right over to Keeper. "Thank you, I was wondering where-" Cat stopped in front Keeper, cutting herself off as Keeper's hand closed over the bracelet just as she had reached for it. Cat suddenly looked uneasy.

"Mr. Keeper." Azalea said, watching the scene intently, tense and pale.

Keeper did not look at her, staring at the bracelet in his palm with a hungry glint in his eyes.

"Err Kole...or Keeper, if I could please have it back-" Cat stammered. Keeper lazily regarded her, his black eyes stared past her at Azalea and Sorren. Daring them to grab Cat.

Azalea clutched her necklace tightly in her hand, she glanced uneasily at Sorren.

Don't. Move.

Azalea directly sent the message to his head this time, so that he would catch it.

In one silky, sleek movement, Keeper brought Cat's arm over his leather jacket sleeve. Cat looked somewhat frightened now, looking uneasy. He led the stiff Cat over to some velvet sofas lined against the wall, that had suddenly appeared, looking excatly like the ones from the pavilion. Now Azalea felt sick.

Keeper gently guided Cat to sit, and then turned around to look at Sorren and Azalea. Cat looked past Keeper's black form at Azalea for help. She clearly didn't know what to do. Azalea couldn't blame her. Azalea gave a slight shake of her head and Cat pursed her lips nodding. Don't get up.

Keeper smiled led at them. "Please, sit." He said in his chocolate voice. His black eyes on Sorren and Azalea.  His voice was polite enough, bit his eyes were cold. This was not an option.

Sorren still stood with the same expression upon his face as Azalea's voice popped into his head. He was listening to her, he didn't listen to anybody and usually just went with his instinct which hardly ever proved wrong. If she died because he decided to listen to her as he thought that was their best chance at survival, he didn't know how he would feel. Azalea was the most familiar with Keeper so Sorren assumed it was the best option to follow her instructions despite as much as he hated to do so.

Sorren felt like he could have punched a wall as Cat walked over to Keeper as if he were selling ice cream. My was she oblivious he thought before throwing the thought out of his head, resolving to be more rational. Cat just wanted her bracelet back. And he had to remain level-headed if he was going to protect her, Sorren was no saint but he didn't want to see someone die unnecessarily at the hands of a sinister creature.

As Cat stood by Keeper, her body language changing to that of uneasiness, Sorren calmly surveyed the surroundings. The entrance way in which they came into the cavern was blocked up and he wasn't sure if there was another exit. Grabbing Cat and running was stupid since it could just lead to a dead end. Just as he was going over more ideas his thoughts were interrupted by Azalea's prominent voice in his head and he caught her glance of angst. Sorren stayed put, not wanting to act on his own accord and potentially cause death.

He watched with displeasure as Keeper led Cat to some velvet sofas that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Sorren couldn't knock the thought of how creepy Keeper was, intensifying his dislike for him. Sorren eyes flicked to Azalea before he took slow steps towards the sofas. Sorren thought the wisest decision would be to go along with Keeper for the moment until Azalea had a plan. As the hybrid sat down next to Cat, his eyes rested on Keeper, he was curious about what he was going to do but didn't exactly want to find out.

((I take it you're not even going to give me a hint, ah, the torture. But I had an epiphany while in the shower, is it his knife, the silver one he used to stab Azalea's father?))

Azalea hesitated before joining Cat and Sorren on the sofa, sitting on the other side of Cat. The same sofas her little sisters and herself had sat on. Azalea looked pained. Keeper sat on another velvet sofa, diagonal from them, he leaned lazily on the arm of the sofa, his dark eyes drank them in.

Azalea shuddered.

"Miss Caterina, informs me you play a game with Miss Azalea." Keeper said softly, his black eyes on Sorren. It was more of a statement then a question.

Azalea was alarmed. Cat's name was Caterina? Azalea glanced at Cat and even she looked surprised at the statement.

"And from what I've seen," Keeper continued silkily. "My lady seems to be losing." Keeper's empty eyes landed on Azalea, they seemed to see right through her and she looked away, but she still felt his cold gaze.

With a snap of of Keeper's long fingers, dainty teacups filled to the brim with tea, appeared in the three's laps on small plates. Azalea did not touch hers, setting it on the floor with a clatter.

"Miss Caterina, do forgive me." Keeper said gently. Cat furrowed her brows in confusion and Azalea's eyes widened in alarm.

With a wave of Keeper's pointed fingers, Cat suddenly slumped, unmoving, her head lolling to the side as Cat fell back against the velvety couch.

Azalea smothered a cry, and it came out as more of a choke, a look of shock and horror on her face.

"Oh do calm down, Miss Azalea. She is not dead. Yet." Keeper said in a voice spun from silk. His voice steady.

Cat looked to to be in a deep slumber, her chest rose and fell at an even pace and Azalea relaxed slightly. Relieved. Azalea stood angrily. She was tired of games.

"What do you want?" Azalea hissed, but her voice wavered. It was hard to keep her fear from her face. His mouth curved into a long-dimpled smile as he looked her up and down with rakish eyes.

"Sit down," Keeper said, "Miss Azalea." His voice was dangerously smooth.

Azalea slumped back on the sofa in defeat.  Staring at her unconscious friend with a sober, worried look. Azalea didn't try to become the cold person she'd maintained around Keeper. He'd see right through her.

"I expect," Keeper said in a low voice, suddenly behind the sofa they sat on. "You are wondering what you could possibly do to keep me from hurting your friends further. Is that not so?"

Azalea fliched as he touched a finger to her bandaged wound on her neck, his fingers entwined in her dark curls, and his finger traced over the bandage. Azalea cringed. His black eyes landed on Sorren, looking him up and down. As if debating his skill in combat.

((Alright I'll give you a hint. It's not an object. But a person. Nope it's not Azalea.))

Sorren didn’t like the situation he was in. He felt helpless. He couldn’t do anything and that was a foreign feeling for the hybrid. Normally, Sorren was in control but Keeper held it all at this moment in time, if he wasn’t killable and had the ability to perhaps kill everyone in the room…what was he supposed to do?

Sorren looked up towards Keeper with a contemplative face as he spoke, mentioning his game with Azalea. Sorren’s eyes told no story as he glanced at Keeper, although he felt heightened emotions Sorren had learned to shield them from others if he took extra care to.

Sorren didn’t nod or make any other kind of gesture as Keeper spoke until Keeper mentioned Cat’s full first name ‘Caterina’. Sorren raised an eyebrow upon hearing it, it appeared Azalea and even Cat herself were surprised at it. Of course, he didn’t think her actual name was Cat but how did Keeper know such information. Sorren desired to know more of Keeper and his methods, intrigued but suspicious; he could do a lot if he could find information out with such ease.

With of snap of Keeper’s fingers, a cup of tea seemingly formed from thin air on Sorren’s lap. Sorren cocked his head to the side as he stared down at the liquid, wondering if it was simply a beverage from the kindness of Keeper’s heart or something more. Sorren didn’t like tea anyway. He slowly picked it up and placed it gently on the floor, Sorren hated the sound of china rattling. Hence, his face scrunched and turned to the side slightly as Azalea placed her teacup down with a clatter.

As Cat suddenly slumped Sorren jerked his head back and his eyes widened, thinking that Keeper had just killed her on the spot. Sorren didn’t realise he was holding his breath until he let out a sigh of relief upon hearing that Cat was in fact, not dead. Sorren’s head inclined upwards to look at Keeper as Azalea and him interacted, resolving to just listen.

Sorren couldn’t keep a finger from beginning to twitch out of frustration at the way Keeper spoke, speaking of people’s lives as if they were pieces in a game. Keeper’s eyes then landed on him and Sorren gave him a fake smile, tilting his head to the side once again but this time in a mocking fashion. He gave Keeper a once over in return, his gaze finishing with his dark eyes. A gaze which said 'Now what would you want with little old me?'

Azalea felt hate boiling in her. She wanted nothing more than to spin around and kill Keeper, or at the very least take his hands off her. Azalea watched Sorren with a bit of intrigue. She envied him almost. He didn't fear Keeper. Keeper's finger tapped against her bandage, you could tell it caused Azalea great pain, but Keeper lazily regarded her as his gaze fixiated in Sorren, as if deciding what to do with him, his lips curved in the corners of his mouth, showing traces of long dimples, for a moment he looked roguishly amused.

"I will tell you what I want, my lady." Keeper said, "Revenge. You do as I say and no harm will come to Caterina or the rest of your loved ones. Is that not a fair trade?" He said smoothly, steady. His voice soft.

Azalea cringed. This was all too familiar.

Keeper leaned in, she could smell the musty-tea pot smell he carried with him. He brushed her dark hair behind her ear and whispered in a low voice, his breath in her ear. "And from what I can tell, my lady, you don't have many left."

Azalea snapped, her thirst for revenge tipped her over the edge. Azalea whipped around so sharply her neck could've gone flying off, she lashed out in pure rage, and with inhuman speed Keeper caught her by her wrist, her hand inches from his cheek. Her wrist throbbed in his squeezing grip and the two locked in challenging gazes, his dead eyes bore into hers and he had no hint of a smile.

Azalea didn't break the stare as she attempted to yank her arm away from his throbbing grip. He did not let go. He was the first to break the gaze as he stared over her head and rested right on Sorren.

"As for you, I expect the same." Keeper said in his smooth voice. "Unless you want me to start killing off students left and right." He said, his voice light. His released Azalea's wrist, taking a step back.

"Why?" Azalea's voice came out in a whisper with an angry edge, she struggled to find her voice.

Instead of replying, Keeper smiled and gave a smart bow. "I heartily enjoy seeing the both of you." he said in almost a mock fashion before simply blinking out of thin air.

Leaving the two alone with an unconscious Cat. The magic subsided, and Azalea found herself sitting on the rock floor. Good thing too, she didn't know if her knees could carry her. Cat layed splayed out on the floor, and Azalea couldn't stop herself from slumping, leaning back against the jagged stone wall.

She'd never felt so completely hopeless. Keeper only knew his one chance at death, and unless they didn't listen, he was gonna turn the school into a blood bath. She felt defeated. Revenge for what? Running? Azalea was stunned. Cold shock filling her. What did he want with Sorren? So many questions filled her mind and yet there were never any answers. She couldn't go through this. Not again. Azalea felt a wave of tears just waiting to break through.

Sorren continued to sit with his hands resting on his knees and wondered what the point of all of this was. The game, the build-up must be what Keeper derives pleasure from. If he wanted to kill Azalea, he clearly could of have at least tried by now.

Sorren felt an unfamiliar protectiveness over Azalea as Keeper caused her visible pain, yes, he had caused the wounds on her neck but he numbed her pain so she didn’t feel even as much as a tickle. Unfortunately for him, it showed as his nails dug into his knees – anger was the trickiest emotion for Sorren to hide as it was the most amplified. Sorren despised the fact that no matter how much he denied it, he cared at least a tiny bit for Azalea.

Sorren still tried to hide his anger despite knowing that it would be futile. He maintained his plastic smile as Keeper gazed at him but dropped it as soon as he turned to address Azalea. Sorren contemplated over what he said to Azalea, Keeper wouldn’t actually keep his word would he? He is called Keeper but he didn’t seem like the person who would like a fair trade, more like a person who liked to win it all. Never mind if it was fair or not.

The moment Azalea whipped around to attack Keeper, Sorren snapped back into reality. Surely she wouldn’t be so stupid unless Keeper really got to her. Sorren looked at his fingers tapping rhythmically on his knees to distract him from his building anger, he focused on his breathing but his head shot up as Keeper spoke to him once more.

Sorren let out an agitated sigh as Keeper forced his trade onto him as well. He didn’t think he could come to hate someone so fast. As soon as Keeper disappeared Sorren felt the velvet cushions vanish from underneath him and immediately caught himself before he could hit the ground.

With a frown, Sorren placed his hands in his trouser pockets as he began to pace around the cavern before walking out of the entrance. Continuing to pace around but now with a cool breeze hitting his face. Sorren used a lone claw to carve random patterns into a nearby tree, he didn’t want to destroy things in a rage out of the fear that he would lose control. His fingers began twitching as his hands balled into fists causing his claws to dig into his palms. Sorren could hardly contain himself. No matter how much he tried to disregard other people, he just couldn’t let more people die because of him.

Azalea watched Sorren pace. She couldn't imagine what he must be thinking. She didn't know why Keeper had decided to throw him in the spiderweb. But he was here now, which left Azalea wondering what to do with him. He was smart, he certainly wouldn't try to kill Keeper and from the way he looked at Kalin earlier that day, he had loved ones. Azalea sat there for almost five minutes, wanting nothing more then to give up and break down, screamher head off and smash her own head against the wall. But despite it, Azalea cared. She looked at Cat, was she worth it? She didn't have many loved ones, as Keeper had stated so directly, there was Cat.... and though she'd never admit it, she cared A LITTLE for Sorren.

Azalea pulled Cat closer to her, resting Cat's head on her lap. Cat did not stir. Azalea smoothed Cat's hair back from her eyes. Azalea shook as she continued to smooth Cat's hair in a soothing manner. Azalea choked as she allowed the tears to stream from her eyes and drip. She pulled Cat close to her chest. "I'm gonna keep you safe." Azalea whispered, "I'm gonna keep us all safe." Azalea was shaken. Keeper had almost killed Cat. She wouldn't let it happen again. Azalea quickly wiped her tears away from anger. She wouldn't let Keeper drag her down again.

Frustrated at the least, Azalea dragged Cat up the steep slope by her arms and pushed her through the entrance hole, before sliding through herself with some effort.

Azalea's wrist was marked red from Keeper's bone-crushing grip. It would be bruised tomorrow. She knew it had been stupid, to try and attack Keeper. But it was hard to not try. He'd killed her family. Her sisters, her father. Only to come back and threaten the lives of others.

Outside, the sky was darkening. School was over by now, and she was sure the football game would be starting up any time now. But that wasn't on Azalea's mind as she watched Sorren pace, carving random patterns into a tree, he was clearly on the verge of a meltdown, and Azalea remembered hybrids had heightened emotions. She imagined he was feeling what she was. Anger, helplessness and fear. But probably not fear from the way he'd mocked Keeper.

Azalea eyes rested on his hands, balling into fists and his fingers notably twitching. She knew she'd have to calm him down if she was going to talk any sense to him.

"Sorren..." Azalea spoke, her voice was low and soothing, as she attempted to calm him down. Her face was steady enough, a touch sober as she watched Sorren. Her skin slightly blotchy from crying. Her voice had shook though. Seeing Keeper had unnerved her to say the least. Behind her, Cat began to stir. She couldn't believe she was actually trying to comfort someone who had pinned her against multiple walls and the floor.
