Kara made a noticeable grimace at Zatanna's response, made in good faith and joyous humor. "On second thoughts, summoning doves doesn't sound so great." She replied with a smile, tone dripping with playful sarcasm. Following the other girl's gaze, Kara couldn't help but nod in agreement as Zatanna spoke again. It was a lot to take in, maybe too much for the mere moments they'd spent in attendance here, but it definitely seemed promising--Damian aside. Hopefully very few students possessed his attitude, more Nightwings and Zatannas around would be nice. Too many doves aside, that is...
Eyes blinking back up to Zatanna, Kara shrugged nonchalantly, starting her explanation as if they were discussing the weather. "Well, I'm bargain-Superman. Powers aside, I'm not as strong as Kal. He's been greedily eating the suns rays up since he was born! Naturally, the years of training and experience... and saving the world help, too." She finished with another glance to Kal, her talkative smile shifting slightly into a barely visible frown.
"I'm from Argon, it was a Kryptonian City, the only part of Krypton to survive... For a time, at least..." Not wanting to think on Argon's destruction--her parents-- nor finish on a somber note, she was quick to continue the conversation. "Me and Kal--or 'Superman'--are cousins, despite the odds... I guess we're technically family, but..." Kara searched for her next words carefully, eyes falling to the floor.
She'd just met Zatanna, was it appropriate to voice her issues? Probably not, but she hadn't had the opportunity to give her feelings since she met the Man of Steel to anyone. Not even him. She wasn't missing even the briefest opportunity to vent. "We're not close, I mean, I know I've only been here on Earth for a few months but... I never see him, I could count the number of times I've seen him in person on one-hand, including now. He's always busy pulling kittens from trees, I guess." Kara finished with an apologetic grimace, realizing it wasn't fair to Kal nor Zatanna for her to speak so openly and harshly.
"Sorry, I've not had the easiest few months adjusting to life here. I know Ka... Superman, always does his best." Kara opened her arms in a sweeping motion over Zatanna, her voice and smile perking up once more. "But enough about me, I want to know the story behind these." Kara asked enigmatically, waving her hands around in spell-mimicking motions with a charismatic smirk. It was lost to her that Zatanna's magic was the result of speaking backwards.
