Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

She just laughed at his little reply. He never had to justify his reasons to her when it was things like this. They were very similar when it came to childish acts like this, so she wasn't going to dispute his motives what so ever. Even she had to admit it would be highly amusing to see how they would react to it being John of all people leading the embarrassment train.

She noticed him smirking at whatever it was about this situation that amused him. It was then, in that moment, that she came over with the daily dose of morning sickness. "Press pause on that conversation..." She said, getting up, her face going quite pale and heading to the bathroom. Reaching there she was yet again being sick and cursing being one of those unlucky expectant mothers who gets the morning sickness. Her rant between vomiting, even included the ramble of why couldn't she be immune to morning sickness, and what's the point in being a mythical immortal creature if she was going to get these stupid human side effects to being up the duff.

John (like Kay) had been hoping that the morning sickness was once off. Evidently not it seemed, when Kay turned thta weird pale white green colour she had the day before and told him to press pause. He didn't follow, figuring that his presence would only make things weirder. Maybe he should ask if his being there while she became reacquainted with the contents of her stomach was a good thing or not. Instead he turned his focus to the coat lining he'd ripped through the night before. He flipped the pocket inside out, then pulled out one of the few practical things he carried on him at all times, the needles and thread. He licked the thread, in order to get it through the needle and began to neatly stitch up the hole. If Kay didnt re-emerge soon, then he'd go and check on her.

And unlike the day before, nobody else came bursting in to the bathroom, all full well knowing what was going on, including Elliott, even though he'd missed out on that events of the day before. The voices of Chas, Elliott and Rinaa could be heard from the direction of the living room.

After a couple of minutes, Kay thought it was over as she slumped against the wall catching her breath, pushing her hair back off her face. She was certain that if she could hear the others talking in the living room, then they may be able to have heard of her which made her sigh. She didn't blame John for not following this time, she wished she didn't have to go through this herself. As she bought it was safe, she started to get up, wanting to head back to the bedroom but low and behold, she retched once and she was back leaning over the toilet.

"Gimme a break..." She said. "Never... getting... preggers..again..." She muttered to herself, swearing that if she has to go through this every time, she would put herself through anything to stop her falling pregnant. She ended up being in there for a good five minutes, which was longer than the day before, where she was sick for a about a minute if that.

John finished his work, then checked his watch, far more time had elapsed than the day before. And he hadn't heard the sounds of anybody else running to get involved like they had the day before. Though judging by the fact that they were always up before him, they were definitly awake and had heard something. Cal's flat didn't have the thickest walls when it came to this kind of stuff. He could only guess that the dramatic morning sickness was a side effect of the accelerated growth of the child. But what did he know about the pregnancies of mythical creatures? Far more than any normal person did. If it was a pegasus John was most definitly your man. A long and weird story involving getting stuck in a time loop in an alternate dimension for a while.

So he made his way to the bathroom, and saw just how completly shit she looked. He sat down beside her on the floor. "Worse than yesterday, I take it?"

Kay looked up when she heard footsteps, she was ready to go tell whoever it was to come back later because she was not moving until she was completely sure she'd be okay. She changed her mind though when she saw it was John who walked in and sat beside her on the floor. "Yeah.. definitely worse than yesterday...I'm tired of this already.." she complained. She felt as shit as she looked. "We are NOT having more than one kid...saying this now." She smirked, knowing he wouldn't have any complaints about it but she was still saying it to make a point how much this was sucking for her.

She was about to rest against him when she threw up one more time, lurching forward to do so quickly. "Urgh...how can I throw up so much?" She complained more, sighing as she tried to hold back the annoyed tears.

He had to agree. There was no way in Hells, Heaven or any realm in between that he wanted more than two kids. (Including Elliott in that number of course). So what if he was adopted? Elliott's planet had exiled him, so he was John's bloody adopted kid, whether the universe liked that or not. And he had no idea how he was going to cope with a baby thta could potentially come with the habit of uncontrollably setting things on fire....or whatever baby Pheonix-mages did whne they were having a temper tantrum. "Very much agreed. This one, and Elliott, and then the universe can go shove it's ideas of throwing more kids at us right where it hurts."Yes, he was threatening the universe, and would find some way to follow through on it.

Then Kay got sick, again. He knew the question was a rhetorical one, more to vent frustration and annoyance at the complete lack of control she had over such things. He put a hand on her back, and rubbed it. "Honestly no idea, my only experiences with copious quantities of puking are from getting utterly slashed, the side effects pumping meself full of every illegal drug I can get my hands on, or exoricims. Now those produce more puke than should be possible by any being."

Before she had her throw up session, she smirked at John's reply and agreement about not having anymore kids after Fia. Her and Elliott would be way more than enough. Kay hadn't even thought about the idea of a child phoenix mage temper tantrum and it's consequences. If she did she could quite easily be scared enough to not want the kid.

She was thankful for the back rub by John as she sighed and started to feel like she might actually be done properly this time. She listened to his reply to her rhetorical question, which in some ways helped but many others it didn't. She didn't want to envision him vomiting everywhere because of those things. She had seen and experienced enough sick for today. She flushed the toilet and slumped against him. "Okay...think I'm done..." She theorised. "Just..stay with me for a couple of minutes before I try and get off the floor?" She was damn certain her legs would turn to jelly if she tried to get up straight away.

When Kay slumped against him, John put an arm around her. He was relieved it was over, but wary that it might not be and not wanting to get hopes too high over the whole affair. He could tell from Kay's tone that she was unsure about the whole thing too,but tried not to dwell on that fact. "Yeah, I will." And since they weren't exactly in a rush to go anywhere, he figured he might as well ask. "Weird question, but if this is gonna happen every morning, d'you want me here for it? Not that I'm much use, about from spouting shite, but I figured I might as well ask."

Hearing that he'd stay with her, relieved Kay. She figured if she was to either throw up again or worse, try and get up and fail miserably, she wanted him in there with her so if she fell, he could stop her from hitting her head on something and possibly kill herself or knock herself out. The both of them knew how clumsy she could be at the best of times, so the idea of trying to get up when her legs felt like jelly from sitting on the floor over the toilet so long, she didn't want to risk anything.

She glanced up at him when he asked about whether he should be here with her every morning and under any other situation she'd definitely agree about it being a weird question. But considering the context, it actually didn't seem all that weird. That and her snarky side of her thoughts did think that he made her get into this situation by making her pregnant, so yeah, he can witness her puking ever morning. Of course, she kept that thought to herself. "Yeah..if you don't mind. I'd rather not be in here on my own...if nothing else for helping me back up. Last thing I need is to wobble whilst getting up and knock myself out on the basin or something" she smirked.

"Fair point, we really don't want that" it really was the last thing anybody needed, being pregnant and having a concussion was surely on the list of 'shit that should not under any circumstances happen at the same time'. And in this particular bathroom, the sink, bath and toilet were all made out of damn hard stuff. Some kinds of rock and metals he didn't recognise. And even the other furniture was made of wood. A fall on any of them could easily result in a split head, a concussion or who knew what else. He couldn't believe he was doing risk analysis in a bathroom of all places. What next. Risk analysis of a couch? Though it was a good thing that this apartment came equipped with a doctor and Jay, who he knew from Elliott had a decent medical grounding in most situations, plus a healing ability, albeit not a particularly powerful one.

"And besides, it's kind of my fault you're in this mess, so it's the least I can do to be present." He added, oblivious to the fact that he was aching Kay's own internal thoughts. But he did feel that way about it.

At least they were on the same page when it came to that little detail. She didn't do quite the risk assessment that John was mentally, she just put certain possible things under "nope" and "hell no" when it came to what her clumsy side could make her do. She was glad though that this place came with people able to help in healing her or look after her from a medical stand point if something happened.

When John added that it was kind of his fault she was in this predicament, she couldn't help but chuckle. "You just echoed my thoughts...but in reality we are both responsible for this. It takes two and all that" she said to him, yeah she did partially blame him, but the fact was it wouldn't have happened if she was careful as well. They were both to blame and the universe...she was definitely blaming the universe for inflicting this on them. "Okay...think I'm good to get off this floor now" she told him.

When it came to almost everything in life, John just ignored his risk assessment and jumped straight in like the lunatic he was, much to the despair of Chas, who liked plans of some sort to be made, even if they went slightly awry. But this was different, there was no way to con himself around this. He had to be more careful, this wasn't one those situations where he could get a second chance, or bullshit his way out of it by starting a war between the three main princes of Hell in order to bend them to his will. And he was responsible for this at least in part, so he should at leat attempt to be a responsible, sane adult and suck it up. But he still blamed the universe fo rthis mess in the first place. "And the universe, with its grand ideas that it knows how to run our lives better than we do. I blame it more than I blame either of us."

He cast an eye skywards, and it was clear that he was refraining from unleashing a monologue listing all his problems with the universe running his life, and copious violent threats that he would enact on the universe I'd it had a tangible form he could apply these methods to. But he didn't, it wouldn't really achieve anything except making him look crazy and giving him a good dopamine high for maybe half an hour. When Kay decided she was ready to get up, he nodded. "as comfortable as this position wedged by the shitter is, I really don't want to spend the foreseeable future here."

Both of them had to change a lot now this was well and truly happening to them. It wasn't just John. Kay had a lot of changing to do as well. She knew when their kid was around she'd have to grow up even more, and try and refrain from the simplest of things like swearing constantly. Which she had a habit of doing. She did not want Fia picking up foul language before she could even walk properly. Yet it also meant she had to learn to not throw caution to the wind like John and follow blindly into everything that could get her and their child killed. She may get reborn, but she didn't think Fia would.

"Oh I'm totally blaming the universe as well. Not just you." She replied to him as he looked up above them, trying to not to go into a massive monologue. She smirked and chuckled when he replied with he did. He really did have a way with words she thought and a way to lighten her mood. She slowly pulled herself up off the ground, using anything and everything around her to steady herself. "I swear...if I'm struggling now, the world help me when I'm further along and the size of a bloody planet" she remarked, of course she was over exeggerating completely, but she knew she'd feel massive and disgusting when she got further along. She had been a slender tiny thing all her life, the idea of having a belly the size of a basketball or bigger just terrified her.

John was glad he wasn't the only one choosing the entire of existance to blame for his problems. Sometimes it was easiest to blame the universe, taking the easy way out, as it couldn't answer back, and more often than not it really was the fault of the person doing the bitching. People tended to overuse the whole l'et's blame the universe for what is entirely our fuck ups'. But this time, it was genuinely applicable to both of them, they really were at the mercy of whatever puppet master was controlling the strings. And all they could do was get up, and get on with it. Or in Kay's case, do an excellent imitation of sometimes trying to walk on ice, having never encountered it before. Had this been under different circumstances he would have been snorting (or smirking with laughter). But it wasn't so he didn't.

"Well if it is any reassurance, I'd be just as bad, if not worse if I was in your shoes right now. I'd probabaly swell to the size of a red giant or something." He hadn't forgotten that disturbing line of thought from yesterday, and intended to ask Elliott to caricature it at some point for the laugh. Probably to make him feel better about being mercilessly embarrassed about the whole sleeping wrapped up with Jay lark.

She definitely looks like she was trying to stay upright and walk on ice right now. She was impressed that John wasn't laughing at her for it, but she was glad he wasn't. If he had been, she woulda thumped him hard for it happily. She listened to what he replied and smirked, the idea of John being the one up the duff was highly amusing to say the least. "Well, think your lucky stars you're not. It's proper weird, knowing there's a teeny tiny person growing inside me, even weirder knowing it's faster than normal too. It's almost like I can feel her growing." She told him.

It was truly like that for her. If it was a normal human pregnancy, the growth probably wouldn't have felt like it was happening, but knowing her bloodline basically cut off 3months off, she could almost feel it. To the point she was convinced that before they leave Attil, she'd be showing.

"I would say I can imagine, but I really can't." On a normal day he would have added something about a parasitic demon or some other crazy thing that may or maybe not have been true. Talking about parasitic demons that absorbed your entire cell structure from the inside out had to be on the list of banned things to talk to pregnant women about." A list that seemed to grow every time he opened his mouth only to close it realising that he really did not need to voice what he was thinking given the situation.

With Kay firmly upright he entangled himself from the toilet pipe that seemed insistant on digging into his bare shoulder. He hadn't bothered to put on a shirt yet, and the mark of the pipe could be seen on his shoulder. The marks on his left arm still remained, albeit fainter than the day before. Now standing he followed Kay back to the room they shared, making sure she didn't fall over thin air and give herself some kind of grevious injury.

If Kay had known John almost spoke about something like parasitic demons, she would most definitely have stopped him from talking. She only would have been literally sick again if he had. Hearing him though say he couldn't imagine she smirked. She almost wished there was a way he could imagine it, but she kept that to herself. It was only when they both got up that she even realised he was still shirtless. God dammit she loved him shirtless.

She walked back to the room, not wanting to see the others just yet as she'd rather look a bit more presentable first and at least have a clean top on. Not that it was dirty however, but after having slept in it and her jeans, she really needed to change to feel fresher. She was also aware of John's demeanor behind her making sure she didn't fall over thin air. This was certainly going to be an interesting 6 months ahead she thought. She could imagine easily what laughs or complaints would be had by one or the other of them.

If this had been John's own apartment with nobody else around or The House, he probably would stayed shirtless for as long as possible. Even if Kay had never explicitly said it, he knew enjoyed the view of him shirtless. And his extensive back tattoos were a source of fascination for her, she'd admitted to that much. But this was Cal and Cliff's place, and he wasn't going to risk getting on either of their bad sides. They were after all the best way to get Elliott off the planet in one living piece, and preferably without another facial scar to add to the collection. At that thought, he ran a finger over his eye, tracing the line where Elliott's scar would be. He found himself wondering what had happened to the sword that had given it. Maybe Cal had some idea.

He pulled on the shirt from the day before it was still perfectly fine, but exchanged the trousers for a clean pair. He'd been wearing the same pair since he'd left Earth, and now they were smelling of the sweet aroma of his nightmare induced sweat. Not something he felt necessary to share with the world. He pulled the on the boots and the tie, before shrugging on the newly fixed coat, cutting away the loose thread.

Kay pulled out a fresh white loose fitting top and pair of black shorts from her bag, that she put on. She had no idea why she shoved in her shorts, but considering her current state of life, she knew she wouldn't be able to wear them for long, so she was going to make the most of it. She grabbed her brush and tidied her hair up, keeping it mostly down as it had decided to get it's natural slight wave back.

After being in jeans for so long, her shorts actually felt more free to wear, which was very much welcome. She then pulled her boots back on, the laces starting to fray in places from the tight tie she had done on them. To make herself feel more fresh, she applied her red lipstick just to feel like she hadn't been sick just moments prior. Grabbing her coat, she slung it over her shoulder, "guess we should show our faces to the others" she remarked when she was finally ready.

"Guess we should" John replied. He didn't make any comment on Kay's outfit, he never did, and he could guess why she was wearing the shorts. To make the most of being able to. The variety Kay showed in her outfits made him realise just how samey he and the others were. Chas wore the same style of t-shirt, leather/denim jacket and jeans day in day out. He himself only wore a t-shirt when he couldn't find a shirt. Elliott had the most variety out of them all, swapping between various t-shirt designs, hoodies, his leather jacket, his trenchcoat, and actually making a conscious effort to change and style his hair. He'd also been known to pull on a beanie every now and again.

He quickly kissed Kay's foerehad before heading out to the main area. Chas was sitting with his feet propped up on the coffee table doing crosswords, having discovered that they existed on Attil too. Only problem was that they were in Attili. He now had a decent grounding in the language, but many of the clues were beyond him, so he ended up calling out the clues for Elliott and Rinaa to either translate or answer. A system which was working very well. Next to his mug on the table was a pile of old newspapers. Elliott was on the couch, as was Rinaa. Elliott had John's old guitar out and was messing around with it, not playing one thing or another. The teenager was tuning a second guitar, the concentration evident in the furrow of her brows. This guitar John hadn't seen before, it was made of real wood, a dark purple red in colour with silver strings and detailing.

Cal, Cliff and Jay were noticeably absent from the room. A note taped to the back of the main door explained why. "The doctor is out for a run. Try not to have any medical emergencies while I'm gone, yeah?" John took it off with a smirk.

Kay smiled and nodded when he agreed, she never dressed the way she did to get a comment out of John, so the fact he never remarked on her outfits never actually bothered her. She knew he knew why she wore she what she did. It was her style and she wanted the make the most of being able to. She knows it wouldn't be long before she'd have to wear maternity clothing, though considering this was Kay, she'd no doubt try and buy ridiculously large sizes of her normal fashion instead.

When he kissed her forehead, she smiled once more. The action always conveying so much to her about he felt toward her. She followed him out into the main room and saw the scene in front of her. It honestly felt like something she'd see in John's apartment often, but with the addition of Rinaa. Kay then walked into the kitchen and made another hot water with ginger drink to settle her stomach from the morning sickness.

"The others are out?" John asked, leaning over the back of the chair Chas was in. "Yup, Cal and Cliff went running, and Jay was the only one who took them on the offer of joining, though Rí was tempted. They're convinced it's gonna start pissing raining later." "It is, with clouds like that, it's gonna be a day long downpour" Elliott added, while Rinaa nodded her confirmation to the statement "Here's hoping it's a thunderstorm, you really haven't lived til you've seen one." Elliott smiled at that, prompting an answering grin from the teenager, who then turned back to the guitar. John looked out the window, the clouds were indeed massing. They were a swollen purple black colour, casting the whole places into a strange light. It gave the landscape a filtered appearance.

"They'll be back, Cal's gonna be on forge duty for as long as the weather permits, and Cliff has taken a few days off work, and is debating calling her family and trying to actually make wedding plans." John pointed at the paper, "twenty-seven down is pycomaxi." Chas filled it in with a nod of thanks. Elliott had the decency to look embarrassed at that, having not realised his appearance had put his sisters wedding plans on hold. "Shit, I hadn't realised that." "Cliff's not the kind of person to make a big deal out of it, she's used to plans going awry due to siblings, she has four of her own after all." Rinaa reassured him.

Kay joined the others holding her mug in both her hands and sipping it, instead of drinking it in large gulps. She listened them all explain where the other three had gone and how the weather would turn soon enough. It also meant that John wasn't the only one who turned and looked out at the clouds. She saw something artistic in it, so she pulled.out her phone and stood by the balcony snapping a couple of shots for future art pieces. Putting the phone away, she leaned against the wall, mug on hands still and looking out at it.

She overheard John give Chas an answer on the crossword and smirked to herself. She didn't fully realise it, but she liked how the place felt. It felt like a family hanging out with each other. A vibe she could get used to very easily. The way she was leaning on the wall and looking out, her hair and the dark light just seem to create the perfect frame round her and give off some kind of ethereal aura to her.

"Four?" Chas inquired, once again assuming his role of absorbing as much information as possible, regardless of the subject at hand. "Three brothers and a sister. She's the second oldest, and probably the most awesome out of them, though Benji, the oldest, is a very close second." Rinaa added, it was no secret that she'd met Cliff's family, nor did it come as a surprise to anybody in the room. "He of the hoverbike shark attack scenario?" John remembered Cliff's story from the day before, about how she and her brother had built bootleg water bikes and broke down in a shark hot-spot. "That's the one. He's a bit of a maverick, and gains too much pleasure from being the eldest sibling."

John noticed Kay taking the photos, which reminded him of her request the day before. His phone camera was on silent from last nights pictures, so he took it out, and took a few of Kay, possibilities for her to draw later. He had to admit that the strange light really worked well with her. Rinaa finished tuning the guitar, the difference in tone becoming audible as she adjusted them to match to the pitch in her head. John could tell this was something she'd done before. She held the guitar with a sense of reverence, as this particular one had an important meaning. "Where's the guitar from kid?" "It's Jay's brother's actually. Hasn't been played in years, but it seems to still work."

Even though she was looking out at the weather, she was still eavesdropping on the conversation, so when she did eventually come back to the group, she'd know what was being talked about. She also had no clue that John was taking photos of her, which was exactly as she requested from him. She heard the tuning stop and figured that Rinaa sorted it out, pushing herself off the wall, she turned and walked back to the group.

She also wasnt surprised in the slightest that he'd start a conversation about the guitar. It was a beautiful piece, she had to admit, and she knew John knew a thing or two about the instrument. She kept sipping her drink, finding it did indeed help to settle her stomach and made the smell of coffee a lot more tolerable. It had been only two days and she was already missing being able to drink it. She walked over to the couch and sat on the arm rest watching both Elliott and Rinaa with the guitars. It made her miss playing the piano.
