Kay couldn't deny that, Rinaa was a mystery and one she was pretty certain she'd never figure out fully. She took in what he said, about where she was, and felt glad he had found her as she was pretty certain she'd have had a hard time finding her way back up to him if she snapped out the trance by herself.

"Great.. more bloody sleep walking...just what I need. Not" she replied, she really didn't want this to become a habit. She didn't want to think about the kind of places or trouble she'd get into if it did become a habit. "I'm surprised you found me" she remarked, "but glad you did"she added, even if she was curious how he found her.

"I guess I just got lucky, synchronity and all that jazz. It has it's uses." It wasn't a lie, he had used it to find her. The only part he was neglecting to mention wad the whole 'there was this voice in my head yelling at me to go find you, and it wasn't my internal monologue or any of Elliott's mind speaking voices either. Plus it called me Dad' Yeah.... That would not help matters at all. All this stuff could be talked about in the morning, with at least some of a good night's sleep behind them.

"I'll probably regret asking this, but what do you mean more sleepwalking?" The thought was in his mind now, and he knew without a satisfactory answer it would join the other questions that plagued his life.

"well I'm glad you did, I'm pretty sure if have got lost trying to make my way back" she replied simply. She sensed he was keeping something back but didn't press on it. She knew he'd tell her at some point if there was anything, she learnt to trust him in that aspect.

When he asked about her choice of words regarding the sleepwalking bit, she remembered that she never told him the full story about how she knew to go home. "Ah..yeah, that's right, I never fully disclosed everything before. The day we went to my old family house? I knew about having to go back because when I woke up I found a note written in my handwriting beside my bed. I never wrote it before going to bed when I was awake and to do so, Ive had to have gotten up, walked round my room to grab paper and a find a pen in the bottom of my bag. I figured out quickly that I did it in my sleep... I also used to sleep walk when I was a kid when the nightmares would kick in about the loss of my mom. My adoptive mom Alana would find me in the garden or down the street some times" she explained.

John listened as she explained, taking it all in. He could hazard a guess that as a child it might have been Fee trying to break through. It was a well established fact that the mind was weaker at night. Guards were let down and it took years of practice to learn to keep those guards up while sleeping. He personally had never sleepwalker, and neither had Elliott, so this was a first for him. He was no psychologist, but it seemed that Kay's sleepwalking was connected to bad memories or negative emotions.

"That doesn't sound fun. Let's hope it's a once off, some side effect of the general everythingness of the past few days"

Kay hadn't thought about the triggers for her old sleep walking days. Yet now as an adult and it had started once again, it did make her wonder about it. She decided she would figure it out another time as right now she did need to go back to their bed and try and sleep without the walking.

"No it wasn't fun.. a 9/10 year old finding themselves in the middle of the street is terrifying. I really do hope it's a one off. I don't wanna put everyone through what I did when I was a kid" she replied to him. Last thing she wanted was for him to find she had disappeared and had to call Chas to drive them around god knows where to find her. "Can we go back to bed now?" She asked, still clinging onto him.

"I'd say it is just a one off" he would have added, don't worry about it, but that would just make her worry about it, which would then make it more likely to happen. Or at least that's what John's brain was telling him. But his tone was gentler. Kay wouldn't know of course, but it was the tone he used to use with the younger Elliott after nightmares or just life in general happened.

"Course we can" He replied. He still had an arm around her and didn't mind that she was clinging tightly to him. He recognised that it was a comfort mechanism. Carefully he made his way back to the crew quarters, managing to find the way back with little difficulty.

She was aware of his gentler tone and it was very much appreciated. She trusted him when he said he was sure of it being a one off moment. She went for years not sleep walking, despite the nightmares taking years to go away. She was thankful that he never witnessed her nightmares. Especially as he dealt with Elliott's at certain times of the year.

Nodding, glad that he could take her back to bed. She walked with him back to the crew quarters, glad he didn't mind her being so clingy for once. It wasn't exactly a habit of hers to be clingy. Any other time she was pretty independent. Making it back to the quarters, she climbed back into the bed, laying on her side, fully intending on being in her favoured position, like before she sleepwalked.

It was only when he lay back down that John realised he had somehow managed to pick up the phone Rinaa had dropped. He had no idea how it had come into his hand, but his guess was he had grabbed it when looking for something to throw at Kay. The screen was fractured, unusable unless it had a finger print unlock and voice recognition. He turned it over in his hand, wondering where he has seen the style before. But he couldn't remember, so he shoved it back in the tench pocket, making a mental note to look at it the next day.

He then lay down next to Kay, he slept either on his side or on his back, he could not see the appeal of sleeping face down and restricting vital airways.

She glanced over at him when he didn't get into bed straight away. She noticed him looking at Rinaa's phone that was smashed up, inspecting it. Kay was about to tell him to leave it until the morning when he clearly had the same thought process because she saw him put it in his coat pocket before coming to bed.

As he laid down next to her, she shuffled up close and like she always did, draped her arm round him and rested her head on him, closing her eyes. She hoped that IF anything went on with her, he'd be able to stop her from leaving the room this time. "Night John.." she mumbled as she yawned, falling asleep moments later. Luckily this time, she slept fine, there was no voice calling her mum or song in her head disturbing her. During the night, Kay only shifted from one side to the other and back again once or twice the whole night.

John took longer to fall asleep. His mind was awash with thoughts. This was to be expected, considering everything that happened, but he still wished it wouldn't. Trying to shut it out did no good. "Brain shut up will ya? I've had enough bullshit for today, don't need you to be addin' to it." He groaned softly aloud, running a hand through his hair.

That did the trick and he fell asleep shortly after. His sleep was nowhere near as deep as it had been before. It wasn't filled with dreams or nightmares. Or anything for that matter. If he did dream, he didn't remember any of it. When he woke, he instinctively checked if Kay was still there. She hadn't gone wandering off again, so he carefully reach over and grabbed the phone from the coat pocket, inspecting it again. And with a fresh mind, he saw what he had missed the night before.

Kay was certainly still there and partially draped over him with her arm. When he reached over her to grab the phone that Rinaa dropped, she didn't stir awake meaning she really did need the sleep. She slept soundly, her breathing steady and slow, the complete opposite to how she was before she fell asleep.

It was a good ten to fifteen minutes later before she actually began to stir awake with a nuzzle of her head into his shoulder and a few squints of her eyes before she opened them properly. "Hey.." she said quietly, her tone still sleepy. "That Rinaa's phone?" She asked him. She retracted her arm from round him for a brief moment to brush the strands of hair out of her face before putting her arm back where it was.

John spent most of that time trying to get into the phone. After fifteen minutes or so he felt Kay stir awake beside him and looked over. He'd let her sleep, she clearly needed it, and he wasn't going to be that guy who woke her up just because he was awake. But now that she was awake he sat up slightly in the bed. It was just an easier position for him to work in. "Mornin'."

He nodded "Yeah, she dropped it last night. Funny things, it's the same type as yours and the phone Elliott uses. It's one of the burners that came from A.J. and co by the looks of it." He passed it over to Kay. Even thought it had a busy screen everything else worked. The lock screen was a black and white photo of a brick wall, taken from far away. Walking past the wall was a mowhawked girl with a guitar on her back. The picture was taken from too far away to make out any proper details.

She adjusted her position to let him sit up better and then cuddled into him again. If it was a few months ago, she wouldn't have dared to, but considering they were all but considering themselves official, she felt she could and she was damn sure he would have pushed her away if it was an issue.

When he confirmed it was indeed Rinaa's phone, she woke up all that bit more. Her curiosity got piqued highly when he said it was the same phone as hers and Elliott's. Taking it from him as he passed it to her, she inspected it. He was right, it was the same burner phone. She looked at the black and white photo and wished she could see who the girl was in the photo. "How curious" she said. "Wonder who the girl is in the photo" she remarked in an out loud thought.

"I tried enlarging it, but nothing. It was taken too far away for any details to be visible, even zoomed in." He sighed. Whoever this girl was, she was important enough to be the lockscreen. He doubted it was a stock photo, the positioning and artistry that went into was too great for a simple stock picture. It was an excellent photo, he couldn't deny that. He knew good art when he saw it,even if he didn't look at the arty type.

"I did manage to get into the phone though, using a trick Elliot taught me." He took the phone back, fiddled around with it for a few moments, before passing the phone back. The home screen picture was another black and white shot, this time of a guitar leaning against an overflowing bin. It was a desolate and lonely photo. " most of the files are pass code locked. The only things publically viewable is the gallery and the very extensive Spotify plays lists. And even then there is only so far you can go before it's encrypted."

"shame.. it's a good shot though" she remarked in reply to his comment about the lock screen photo. "She must one hell of a girl though to be Rinaa's lock screen." She commented. She let John take the phone back to unlock it, watching how he did it before taking it back when he handed it back.

The home screen photo spoke a lot to her. It actually reminded her a lot of the kind of abstract stuff she used to draw at university. She listened to what he said and found out about the phone. "Some serious secrets then she's keeping if it's that highly encrypted" she commented, going through her gallery to see if there were anymore interesting photos on there. "Her photography reminds me of my old art work from university, it's a bit uncanny actually" she remarked, scrolling through.

The majority of the photos were in black and white. They consisted of various still life style photos. There was an underlying theme of sadness and loneliness to each of them. Some were clearly posed, like the guitar against the wall, but others were just spur of the moment shots. Most were downloaded from another device, and so had no date.

But there were more recently dated albums, containing photos of the ship including one of Jay in the pilot seat, brow furrowed in concentration. There was even one of all of the four of them, and John had no idea when she had taken it. "if these are photos she took, then the kid has talent".

Kay was quite impressed by the photos, especially if it was Rinaa that took them. She scanned through a lot, but hovered more longer over the recent ones, even the one of all four of them. Like John, she had no idea Rinaa had even taken it. She also wondered when it was taken without them knowing.

"She sure does. There's always something about black and white" she replied. She was always more drawn to black and white or mostly grey scale with just a shot of colour in one little area. "She definitely has an eye for photography, that's for sure." She said once more, handing the phone back to John. It made her wonder where Rinaa got the inspiration to start photography, a bit like how she turned to art to draw out her emotions when she secluded herself in her and Sam's room when she was a kid.

Then due to looking through Rinaa's phone, it brought back more memories from last night. She remembered how it all started from hearing that young voice most of the afternoon and in her sleep and she wondered why she was always hearing the word 'mum'. "John...I'm thinking about last night...you know I said about hearing a voice? I'd been hearing it most of yesterday and it kept saying mum and dad..it was faint and more like an echo but I could work it out" she told him, not being able to hold it in anymore.

(As of 2pm I'll be working til 5pm pretty so I'll be slow replying until then)

John took in the photos as Kay scrolled through them. It was like seeing snapshots of how Rinaa thought about the world. A photo spoke a thousand words. The photos showed a different side to the closed off, snarky girl who seemed to rub everyone up the wrong way on purpose. And it was different to the laughing gamer who could trash himself and Chas, even when blindfolded. The photos showed a lonelier side, not from broodiness, but from isolation. Or he could just be reading too much into it.

He took the phone back and began to flick through the files, seeing what exactly he could access. Then Kay spoke about last night and hearing a voice. Which sounded exactly like the one he had heard. "I heard a voice too.... only once though....it was what woke me up last night actually. I don't know how they got in considering all the wards and walls my subconscious projects at night. And whoever it was called me Dad, so it can't have been Elliott."

(okay, good to know)

Kay watched him flick through the files he could access as she told him what she heard, she didn't want to distract him from what he was wanting to do but she really couldn't keep it to herself anymore. When he said he heard it too, she didn't feel like she was going insane. However, what he said did surprise her a bit. She wasn't expecting him to say it was the voice that woke him up and he heard the word dad.

"So..you got called dad, I've been hearing mum and it's definitely not Elliott using a girl's voice... I don't know whether to feel freaked out or not....I know it's not my subconscious of younger me like I've heard before in my dreams. Which brings only one theory to my mind..." she said to him, not sure if she wanted to say the words out loud or not. They were possibly hearing a kid of theirs that they didn't have yet.

Kay's thought pattern was the same as his. She didn't finish the sentence, but it didn't need to be finished. They both knew what she meant. A kid, their bloody kid. It would make sense when it came to penetrating John's wards, they were always weaker towards blood family, that's just how it was. But up until now he'd never actually had any blood family that possesed the ability to do such a thing. "Unfortunately I don't see any other option either, bloody hell.... "

He trailed off the enormity ofthat realisation sinking in. This was why he hated time travel. There were some things that were simply best left unknown. Any change due to their knowledge in the present could change the future. He'd seen his Justice League coworkers become obsessed with the future, both protecting and preventing it. So he stayed away from it. He wasn't paying attention to what he was doing or what files he had accessed. But the current folder he was in contained video files, and all but one were encrypted.

She nodded, hearing that he too had come to the same realisation hat she had. It was one hell of a curve ball thrown onto them and she was unsure if she wanted to know the information they had now realised or not. Yet she had to think and remember, if that voice hadn't of spoken to John too, god knows what would have happened to her last night when alone with Rinaa. It was something that she didn't want to think about. "One hell of a way to find out huh?" She remarked to neither of them in particular.

Kay was just wrapping her head round the fact time travel was even a thing that existed thanks to Rinaa. Now she was discovering she had a daughter that was able to talk to them telepathically from who knows where from. Location and time wise. "Possibly a bloody daughter..." She gasped still thinking out loud. It made sense it'd be a daughter as she had read male phoenix were even more rare and near damn impossible to be born the natural human way.

"Bloody hell" was quite literally all that John could say in response. He really wondered just how much weirder his life was going to get. He hadn't thought yesterday that it could get any weirder, yet here he was today, leading a life that was becoming stranger and stranger by the minute. He was a chain smoking con-man from the arsehole of London with more enemies than he could name. He wasn't meant to be the guy saving races of mystical creatures or gallivanting across the universe in a space ship with aliens. He wasn't meant to be dealing with things like keeping timeliness intact and worrying about future things that hadn't happened.

If there was a way to forget it, he would take it instantly. Maybe Elliott would know a way to block or wipe memories, because John really did not want to get bogged foen trying to preserve time lines or predict events far, far into the future. He sighed "I don't suppose neuralisers have been invented by aliens yet? Cos I really don't want to get bogged down with timeline worry, like certain people I've seen"

John's reaction mirrored her own very well, just he worded it very differently. Like him, the last thing she wanted to think about is being a future mother. She never once thought of herself as such a person, despite having very motherly instincts and emotions toward Elliott. She hoped whoever their daughter was, wasn't doing anything to screw their lives up even more. She couldn't handle much more on top of the upcoming drama and possible fight for their lives to get Elliott back.

She smirked ever so slightly when he said what he did. She understood where he was coming from completely. There was though, a tiny part of her that hoped that the idea of being a biological dad to some kind with her wasnt off putting to him in any way. The idea wasn't completely scary or off putting to her, even though it was incredibly daunting to her at the same time. "I have no idea... I just hope whoever she is? She knows what she's doing by communicating with us like this..." She replied. "But it's far too daunting right now to think about. We've only just agreed to be official...it's so bloody fast" she told him truthfully.

He had to agree with that, it was fast, too fast for him. He felt like his brain was ten steps behind everything, desperately trying to catch up. He didn't have anything against kids but he wasn't exactly the parent type. Elliott crashed into his life by accident, and was at an age where he was pretty sufficient at normal tasks like eating, drinking, looking after himself, that kind of stuff. But raising a screaming baby? That was a different ball game altogether. It involved being actually responsible.

"This is beyond fast, its a whole other dimension of fast. And it is weird on so many different levels. Somewhere out there Fate is having such a laugh at our expense. As if things aren't ridiculous enough." He really needed coffee, with a large shot of whisky in it, or a smoke, or both at the same time. And food in general. He placed the phone down, freeing up a hand, which he ran through his hair.

She felt far from being the parent type. She could barely understand herself, now Fate was telling them that at some point in the future, they were going to be parents? It was utterly insane to her and just like John, it made her head hurt. She wondered how on earth with their lives, they could possibly bring up a kid. Yet somehow there was a grown kid telepathically proving to them that they manage it.

"I completely agree. Don't get me wrong, I find myself being very maternal and motherly over Elliott, being with you both, but you're right. It's insanely fast and I can't get my head round the idea we'd successfully raise a kid. Yet here's this voice clearly proving to us we manage it. It's making my head spin so to speak. I think we need food and coffee...and I need to get dressed and not wander around yet again in just a shirt" she replied to him, ending the conversation on a slightly more light hearted note.
