Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

Kay nodded, she really wasn't looking forward to the awkwardness that would ensue with them being upstairs with everyone else. So she walked with him to the ladder to the cockpit and let him go up first. She was impressed that he managed to climb up with nothing being spilled. She hoped she could manage it as well. Luckily, she hadn't fully filled her mug of coffee, so she was able to loop just her thumb through the handle right enough, that she had use of her other fingers to grab onto the ladder one handed and climb on up.

Getting up she sat in her usual seat that was next to John's, with a little walk way between them. She placed her mug on the arm rest and grabbed one of her sandwiches to start eating, when John and Chas gave each other a jab for their choices. She noticed how Rinaa tensed up at the sight of them, which made Kay just look away. She knew this would be ridiculously awkward and she was proven right instantly.

"So...a plan for when we get to Attil?" She chimed in, wanting to get to the point as soon as, so she could leave and not be near Rinaa.

"Yes, a plan, and I'd also like to state that nobody is leaving this cockpit til we have one, so if anyone has any ideas, fess up now and let's not make this drag out longer than it needs to" Jay added, laying out the ground rules as soon as possible. As she spoke up, she brought up a projection of the planet they were about to see. As they had glimpsed in Elliott's mind, the planet was ringed, and lay tilted on its axis. It was a mix of land, water and artificially constructed orbitals. Labels floated above the major cities and geographical locations.

Rinaa stood, and walked over to the hologram, her heavy metal capped boots making no noise as she walked. "It's obvious where they will take him. This whole thing is personal, not just for Elliott, but for Zann'Pak'Lott too. So they're gonna take him home, where it all began" Facing the hologram, she spun the planet, stopping it and zooming in on a set of high mountaintop plateaus. Built onto the side of the mountains was a massive city, along with spaceshift hangers, and nearby one of the main training facilities.

Kay sighed into her sandwich to hide it, as she finished the first one and began on her second one she made. Of course Kay was refusing to let people leave until they came up with a plan of attack so to speak. She looked at the projection when Jay brought it up, recognising the planet from the glimpse in Elliott's mind but it still seemed so different to her at the same time. Seeing such a projection made her think and feel like she was in some weird syfy film.

She watched as Rinaa walked over to the hologram of the planet and started talking about there being only one place Elliott would have been taken to due to the personal nature of the whole thing. Kay wasn't sure whether to think that'd be incredibly smart or incredibly stupid of them. She looked at the area Rinaa zoomed in on, taking in the details she could see considering it was just a hologram. It was highly impressive to her, someone who had never seen such things before. "Not sure whether that's highly stupid or smart..." She remarked.

"It's both, smart because of this" Rinaa zoomed in on the training facility. "This is one of the facilities where they train pilots, fighters, warriors and even the Royal guards. And the training standard is insanely high. They produce some of the most badass fighters and pilots." Jay nodded her head in agreement. "The Royal Guards are the creme of the creme. They aren't all Devra by birth, some are half bloods, others are from other races and insanely at their chose field. And as people they are solid, not at all snobby, because the guards all come from disadvantaged backgrounds and are raised as family. They have to go through various trials before acceptance"

She had diverted slightly off topic "the point is, they make excellent guards, and that the facility there is full of them." Rinaa nodded in agreement "That's right, the facility does have a prison complex, and that's where he'll be." Rinaa tapped the map "It is also incredibly stupid. No doubt Zann is letting emotions cloud his judgement. Elliott's arrival has set some serious wheels in motion, not everyone is as racist as their leaders.

Kay listened to the girls talk, as no doubt were Chas and John. She took it all in as best she could and she found it very interesting that they'd take in beings not of their own kind to be guards and family. For a race so racist toward magic users, it honestly surprised her greatly. She made her usual single nod to show she was acknowledging what they were explaining and she was understanding it...just about.

"So... if not everyone that racist and judgemental as their leaders are, is there anyone who could help us get in relatively unnoticed?" Kay asked, considering how much Jay and Rinaa knew about the types of people they took in, she wondered if either girl knew anyone on the planet who could help them out. Jay particularly seemed to know plenty of pilots when they did the stop over the other day on Tor. "If we could have someone to help on the inside that'd improve our chances surely? It'd give us an advantage at least." She spoke up. It was honestly all she could think of at this moment in time.

John could see the surprise on Kay's face at Rinaa and Jay's explanations. "The Devra are far more advanced as a civilisation than humans. As an overview they aren't complete arseholes." Looking at Jay and Rinaa he added "correct me if I'm wrong about this but, they have almost complete equality between the genders, and only the fogeys with sticks up their arses have problems with people's gender, sexual orientation or lack of it. They have for the most part a good tolerance for other alien types, but as always they don't get along with everyone. The only thing they cannot accept is magic."

The two nodded "Everything he said was right." "Espescially the sticks up arses bit" "I agree with Kay, we need somebody on the inside" Chas attempted, and succeeded to bring the conversation back to the main focus. Kay's idea was good, and he was all in favour. "There is somebody we can get on the inside- a pilot by the name of Cliff Dan'Yi. She was adopted by the Devra, and trained here."

Kay looked at John when he explained better than either Rinaa or Jay did and she just nodded, finding it make a lot more sense now. "Right.." she replied simply. Like with humans, it still amazed her that for people who could be so open to everything else, could be so negative about one other thing, but she did remember John previously saying it was down to the fact they were so reliant and believed so heavily in science, it was down to fear. It also still made her hope that she'd be relatively safe on the planet. She was still so sure that of Elliott could sense the magic in her when he first met her, then the rest of his kind would be able to.

Her glance then turned to Chas when he agreed with her and found her idea a good one. If he thought she came up with something credible, then it must have been good. Chas was always the rational one in her mind and the one that would have the good plans, so she thought it quite something if he agreed with her. Her glance the turned to Jay when she confirmed there was someone there who could help them. "Okay, so we find this Cliff, and get her to sneak us in undetected and help us find Elliott...feels like stealth is key on this one and not go in guns blazing so to speak" she spoke up once more.

"Stealth is always the key" Rinaa and Jay spoke in unison on that, clearly something they both lived their lives according to, if the approving looks they gave each other were anything to go by. "How do you know you can trust her?" that was Chas, ever rational, thinking out all the angles before actually making a commitment. "She's on Elliott's side in this thing the whole way, plus she's got the connections with other people and the means to get us in." Chas didn't look totally convinced "Plus I know her from my past...your future, she's sound"

"You got any way to contact her? It'd be nice to not have to search the entire barracks for her" "Yup, and yup" Rinaa moved over to the computer console and started typing, her hands flowing across the keyboard. "You message her Jay, she'll agree, I know she will" For once Rinaa was showing absaloute faith in a person.

Naturally, Chas asked more questions to get more answers to settle his own thoughts. He wouldn't be Chas of he didn't speak up like this in Kay's mind. When Kay said what she did, she was mostly saying it in a primarily thought out plan, incase no one else thought up anything better. Each time Rinaa answered Chas with a tone that matched her words, Kay believed her that they could trust this Cliff girl.

The utter faith Rinaa had in someone, honestly surprised Kay as well. She just didn't show it to everyone. She had never heard such faith of clues to Rinaa liking someone in all the short time they had known her. She didn't think Rinaa was capable of such opinions and thoughts towards another person. "It's a plan for the time being. We can always have a plan B incase things go wrong and call me a pessismist but something always goes wrong." She replied, backing Rinaa up in a very round about way. Something she didn't think she'd ever do. She was more convinced at receiving a punch from Rinaa before she found herself agreeing with her, but here she was, surprising herself.

For once all four on board agreed, speaking almost in unison with various variations of "oh something is definitely going to go wrong, we're all realists here and this kind of shit is never easy." Jay deliberated before typing, Rinaa's only interruption being to change something at the very end of the message, before it was sent. "Plan B is to turn this thing into a giant interplanetary diplomatic incident as possible, and make as much noise about it as possible"

"Or we could just fake his death. Solves two problems at once really. Gets Elliott out under the radar, while ensuring the Devra will never come after him again, as well as also exposing just how big of a collection of arseholes the high-ups are" Nobody was expecting that answer from Rinaa, but it was far more viable than it seemed at first glance. "Well damn" was Chas response, while John went for the more typical "Bloody hell, that's either brilliantly good or brilliantly awful"

Kay nodded, good to know they were all on the same page she thought. She listened to what John said about a plan B before listening to what Rinaa had to say. Honestly, Rinaa's idea sounded a much better idea to John's and she almost hated herself for thinking that. It was more down to disbelief at herself that she was agreeing with so much of what Rinaa was saying.

Her response to it was somewhere in between Chas and John's whilst mirroring both of them, "fucking hell.....it's actually brilliant." She said, re-tucking a strand of hair had fallen infront of her face, back behind her ear. "It's certainly our best bet for getting him out with as much ease as possible whilst remaining as quiet as possible." She added.

Jay was impressed and it showed both on her face and in her tone "Well kid, that is one hell of a ballsy plan they sure won't see it coming." Nobody could see under the mask, but Rinaa's face had reddened slightly at such an outburst of praise from everybody. When she spoke again, her tone showed no sign of that feeling. "But it requires a hell of a lot more planning, we'd actually need to meet with Elliott and find out how and when is best to fake it. We'd need to find somebody to either fake killing him or to actually kill somebody else disguised as him. Either way we need a dead body as a substitute and people to swap out the bodies."

She had put far too much thought into faking a death, that much was obvious. John want sure if he wanted to know why she would be thinking along such lines on a regular basis. "That's our plan B then, but it's reliant on getting enough people to look away while we carry it out. So diplomatic incident can be plan C, unless anybody else has any genius bombshells?"

Hearing and seeing Jay be outwardly impressed toward someone was something that Kay never thought she'd see happen. Jay was always so closed off with things like that, that Kay was pretty certain at one point she'd never see Jay be impressed with anybody then low and behold Jay proves her wrong without even knowing it. She then listened to what Rinaa said about needing to finding someone to take Elliott's place or somehow fake kill him to get him out. She did get a very stupid idea in her head but she had no idea how to carry it through. She thought about using herself as she could be reborn if they killed her using a cloaking spell to make her look like Elliott, but it was getting her out that would be the problem. She was also pretty certain John wouldn't like the idea.

She listened to what Jay said and she agreed they would be their best three plans. When she asked about if any Ody had any other bombshell ideas, she actually bit her bottom lip as she did but wasn't sure if she should suggest it.

"For once no, unless it involves me pissing off more government officials" "If worst comes to worst, I can do dead body duty. It wouldn't be the first time my corpse has proved useful, although you would have to remove some internal organs or something serious for me to stay dead for as long as needed." Chas offered. He may not have had Kay's immortality, but the limited immortality he had was impressive none the less. Jay sighed,"Unfortunately I doubt any of us could be body stand in. The Devra officials would actually want to examine the body in great detail, so it could be days before we be able to get you out. Sadly we need a real, fully dead body, maybe a shape changer of some sort, but they are rare enough to find"

"And a disguise spell could prove problematic if they detect the magic. Unless you do a full rewrite, it would be very hard to get away with. Either way the body needs to be burned afterwards to dispose of the evidence" Jay and Rinaa were only the same wavelength. The latter quietlg coughed slightly after speaking, as if something was stuck in her throat.

Kay looked between all of them as each of them spoke. So, she wasn't the only one who had the idea of playing dead body.. Chas did too. She listened to what Jay said and without her even suggesting her plan, Jay squashed it dead in her reply to Chas. The idea of being away from the team for days killed her and she knew her rebirth abilities was very unpredictable at times if she didn't actually concentrate and control it. The last thing she would want would be to get in more problems with the Devra.

Then Rinaa added more information and it felt she knew what Kay was thinking. Even though Kay was very sure she didn't know, she just found it creepy that they were debunking her entire thought and idea without her even speaking it. "Well let's hope it doesn't come to plan B then.." she simply said.

"Yeah.. Plan A is far more appealing than the other two put together" Jay agreed, leaning back in the pilot chair, casting an eye on the computer. She turned back towards the group, adding a smirk when she regarded John "Don't worry you'll get to punch some of those douches. Maybe even the douche himself. And I don't think any of us will try to stop you. " "I certainly won't, this is one clash of titans that I really want to see" Chas replied. Normally his moral compass would mean he would interevene regardless, but in this situation, it was different. This was something that John needed to do. Though he wasn't sure how Kay would react if she knew who they were talking about.

"I won't stop you, Hells, I'll probabaly even join in" Rinaa added, stepping away from the holo map and slumping slightly against the wall of the ship. "Might take you up on that" John smirked, kind of surprised at Rinaa's words, kind of not. As Jay said she was clearly wrapped up in the whole mystery and knew far more than they did.

Kay didn't fully know who they were talking about when saying the douche, but she some ideas from what John told her the night prior, with Elliott's permission. She kept mostly quiet on the topic, "I'm staying out of it. If it's warranted which I have no doubt it is, I won't stop anyone." She just simply said and left it at that. She had already mentally prepared herself for John going all flying fists of fury on someone or some people when they embarked on this insane mission. Which meant she had fully prepared herself to be ready to sort him out afterwards if he got hurt and she'd heal him no matter how hurt he got, even if it took it completely out of her and she passed out for days on end. She'd do it for him.

She didn't even say anything else on Rinaa remarking about joining John on punching someone. She was a mystery that never got any smaller and she just accepted that at this point in time. All she did do was hop up onto her chair to get her feet up. One leg bent under her and one foot pressed down on the edge of the seat, with her arms draped over the bent knee.

"Feel free to join in when the shit inevitably hits the fan and explodes everywhere" John said with a half smirk, half grin. Had Kay been against him this would have been one of the few times where he would have refused to listen to her and would have gone through her if necessary. "So that's settled then. All we need now is a response from this Cliff person" Jay grabbed her plate from the dash, propped up her feet and began eating. "She will, I would say trust me on this, but that's not exactly applicable in this situation."

She was quieter spoken than earlier. The confidence she showed when explaining about where Elliott would be having all but vanished. Her voice sounded slightly congested through the mask. There wasn't anything anybody could say to that statement, it was the truth. They'd trust her to fly a ship and to fight, but beyond that, nothing.

She just smirked at John's reply to her, seeing how almost excited he looked at the very idea. She knew if she protested he'd do it anyway. That's why she went with the answer she did, because she knew it'd be pointless to try and convince him otherwise. She wasn't exactly a fan of the idea, but she also k we of roles were reversed she'd react the same way, so what was the point in saying otherwise? There was none. "I'll jump in if it's needed, otherwise I'll pick up the pieces afterward" she told John, the smile not going from her face.

She glanced at Rinaa and found it interesting how her whole demeanor had changed compared to earlier. She would have said 'yeah you're right...it's not applicable' but she didn't and kept her trap shut. She just sat quietly and finished her second mug of coffee instead wondering what to do now. She hopes this Cliff would get back to them quickly so she could escape from the cockpit.

Jay was able to wait patiently. But she wasn't idle. After finishing eating her plate or breakfast ribs, she turned towards the computer and began to do some research. First she checked to see if the ships internal data base had any information about Attil and the various bases there. There was, so she brought it up, and began reading and where necessary, translating. She then attempted to find their new pilot 'ally', but with less luck. The onboard database didn't list all pilots, only those in what would have been its operating area, which wasn't Attil.

Chas and John idly started chatting, the subject coming around to how exactly Chas had explained his going into space to his wife. The answer was that hed half lied, telling her and Trish that something had happened to Elliott while he'd gone off, and he and John were going to go find him before things got worse. "She's blaming you John, not Elliott. For someone who hates you so much, she really likes your kid" "Probably because Elliott is basically Trish's older brother" Rinaa stayed slumped against the wall, feeling weirdly drained and headachy.

Kay just went into her own little world when most conversations didn't really include her. That wasn't to say she didn't eavesdrop every now and then to listen to little snippets. Those snippets were mostly of Chas and John's conversation about how he explained his days on end disappearance to his wife and kid. It didn't surprise her to hear that Renée likes Elliott despite hating John's very existence. She seemed like quite the character and she wondered if she'd ever meet the woman that stole Chas' heart enough to want to marry her and have a kid with her. She remembered already meeting Trish and thinking what an awesome kid she was.

When John said it's no doubt because Elliott is practically an older brother to Trish it brought back memories of her and John's previous realisation and talk about them having a kid out there in the future. Elliott was a brother to their future daughter and he had no clue. Hell, she had no clue who her daughter was, what her name was what she looked like.. nothing. Just that she existed as an echo in her mind and she made John go after her when her sleep walking began again.

John was having the same thoughts as Kay, Elliott was out of the three of them, probably the best when it came to younger kids and dealing with them. He had known Trish for most of her life, and it helped that she didn't care that he was non-verbal or had a funny accent. Often Elliott ended up staying over at the Chandler's first as a babysitter and later as a video game partner, and more recently teaching Trish how to fight and who knew what else. He very nearly got sentimental and had to refrain himself from opening his mouth and reminiscing about those times. 'The space travel must be turning me brain to mush' he thought to himself.

The message came through vebtually, Jay pouncing on it and opening it. "We got an inside woman." She read further and raised an eyebrow "we seem to have got ourselves a team. Seems Cliff really is well connected." She read further "As you suspected not everyone believes in their leaders values, it seems some were raised one worlds with magic and could even be closeted mages themselves. But I might be reading too much into this" Chas leaned over to take a look, not having much luck translating, which prompted John to come over and try his hand, proving to be almost as bad. He'd learnt Attili orally, so the writing was a mystery to him.

Kay had no clue that John was having the same thoughts as her. She honestly thought that John had just made himself ignore this major spoiler and detail and chose to forget he would make a child with her. Due to this she never said anything, but she did wonder if in the near-ish future if she should tell Chas or ask him if there anything vague about it in the book he had read about her. Then thoughts came round her mind about Chas possibly becoming a babysitter if Elliott was busy, how he'd be considered uncle Chas and the likes.

When the response from Cliff came through she snapped out of her thoughts and listened. Finally, a positive that was coming up for them. She let Chas and John try to help in translating the message to no avail as she knew she wouldn't be any help whatsoever. She couldn't even read her own race's old language most of the time, let alone Elliott's native language. "Point is, we've got our help" she just simply said.

"How long left til we get there?" That was John, there was an end in sight and he was loosing patience. Was it too much to ask that he could get to Elliott quickly? Then maybe his life would regain some form of normalcy and he could finally figure out the things going on between him and Kay. And the future daughter dilemma, which he hadn't forgotten about. It was praying on his mind just as much as it was on Kay's. It was crazy to take in. He had no doubt that Chad knew something, possibly everything. Or maybe he hadn't read the whole thing, not wanting to become obsessed with the future. Or maybe he had, because he felt it was his responsibility and now he knew too much.

"Ten hours maybe? It's not an exact science, I could speed up the ship maybe cut an hour or so off, but we'd have to slow for approach anyway. Don't want to get shot down as a Kamikaze bomber. I'm all for going out in a blaze of glory, but that is taking things too far" Rinaa had been silent for a good while now, retreating into some part of herself. But that changed quickly, she coughed inside the mask, which then led to a violent choking noise. Blood began to drip from round the edges of the mask. It had no nose holes, so the blood had simply built up inside. She flung the mask off, shoving her forearm against her nose which was bleeding profusely. The blood was toxically dark, her exposed skin paling before their eyes. "Kid?" "Oh balls" "Hells"

It wasn't until John spoke up to ask for an ETA that she snapped out of her thoughts. Like John, she wanted Elliott back quickly so they could just get back to some kind level of their definition of normal. Which would lead to them figuring out their other problems. She was terrified of losing John over this whole daughter revelation. She hated however that Jay said it was still another ten hours at least, as it meant it was practically a full day away almost.

She turned to look at Rinaa when she started coughing profusely. When she removed the mask and blood was visible, she sat up properly. Even she knew that her blood want normal and her skin paling before their very eyes definitely wasn't normal. Kay knew that if Rinaa put her head back she'd choke on her own blood, so she did something that surprised even her... She got up and stood next to Rinaa, placing her hand on her back to help in some way. "Whatever you do, don't tip your head back, it'll make you choke on your own blood." She told Rinaa, she then looked between the two men and Jay. "Go find something we can use to soak up what blood is flowing, a towel or lots of tissues... Anything. We need to try and stop this before she passed out from the loss or chokes on it." Her tone had quite the dominant paramedic-esque tone to it. She then turned to Rinaa, "Rinaa, I need you to tall to me okay? Tell me what's going on because this ain't no normal nose bleed"
