Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

Kay nodded, she agreed with both points John made, realising she had forgotten about that detail back at the fight night. But then again, she wasn't exactly in the room for long that night. Chas pretty much said what she did, so at least she wasn't that far off with eveything she said to them.

When the message came in she got curious. "O...Kay" she commented. She wanted to know the message contents buy she knew it wasn't for her so she decided to not say to open it. For they all knew Jay would give them all a right bollocking for opening something she's clearly asked for answers about.

(Ooh well good luck with that!)

John and Chas's interest both piqued at the subject line of the message. Their combined process going along the lines of "Prison break? A past prison break like the one with Rinaa, or a new one that Jay is planning?" "Black box as in a plane black box? If so the black box of what craft?" "How the hell did Jay find time to contact people to get this information?" "Who sent it?" "What prison? DeltaMax?" "Is this related to the bounty hunter's spiel about Jay pissing off people in high places?" and naturally what kind of mess are we getting dumped on us now?"

Chas scrutinised the message, not opening it. "There appears to be a video or audio file attached, as well as a text message. The sender is blocked, no surprise there." He mused aloud, trying to clean as much information from it, without actually having to open the message. He knew Jay wouldn't be at all pleased if they did.

(thanks, good luck to you too)

Kay, like Chas, wasn't surprised that the message had a blocked sender so they wouldn't know who it was. Everything they came across that was tied to Jay was highly strung in secrecy. So it was nothing new in a lot of ways to her that was the same.

"There's one saying that comes to mind right now and that's 'same shit different day'. Jay seems hellbent on dragging us through all kinds of crap that it is feeling like an endless diverge of side quests and not in the direction of the main situation at hand." She spoke up. She wondered how much more they'll get dragged into.

(Cheers I'll need it! Shit is already hitting the proverbial fan with this bloody party booking)

"Something tells me she's playing more than one game right now. There's Elliott's plan, which she no doubt helped create, but she has her own agenda. What her goals are is anybody's guess." Chas replied. He knew that John wasn't happy with all the detours either, that he'd rather be on Attil, pissing off however much of planet was necessary in order to get results.

John groaned, leaning back in his chair. "We gonna snoop through this message or not?" He might as well be blunt with his thoughts, everybody else was thinking it, even if they didn't have the balls to admit it.

(sounds delightful)

Kay nodded, "like I said.. endless side shit, and none of the main situation at hand" she concurred with Chas. It was nice to know he thought the same thing as her, even if he worded it very differently. It wasn't just Chas that knew all John wanted to do was get to Attil either, Kay knew it just as much. She felt it from him.

Then came the question she knew would only be a matter of time before John just came out and asked. "If you wanna deal with the shitstorm that Jay will rain down on you, do it but I'm wondering if it's really worth the extra tension on this ship to find out what's inside" she replied to him, being the sensible one out of nowhere.

"It's not worth it, all you would succeed in doing is making everything on board more shit than already is, which is quite an achievement" Jay replied. She had been leaning against the wall of the ship, arms crossed, one foot flat against the wall. She had been listening to their conversation for a while now. None of them had noticed her climb back into the cockpit, she hadn't wanted them to.

"And besides, this message contains the black box footage of Jack's death, an event that means nothing to any of you. So unless you want to watch a pilot dying because of me, then I'd suggest you get out" She wasn't just angry, she was sad and in pain too. And tired, if the dark rings beginning to form around her eyes were anything to go by.

Kay personally turned round quickly when she heard Jay's voice. From her since against the wall, she had truly heard alot of what they were talking about and she actually felt guilty. Kay wouldn't have wanted Jay to hear some.of the things spoken about her. Mostly because she did have a moral compass when it came to most things, and even though it wasn't obvious there and then, she'd rather tell Jay in person what she thought of her.

She would have apologised, or said anything but just by looking at Jay's facial expression and seeing so many emotions in it, she knew better of it. So she simply stood up, grabbed her jacket and the crisps and left the cockpit, climbing down to the main section of the ship where she then waited for John and Chas.

Both John and Chas's eyes widened at the sound of Jay's voice. They both opened their mouths to attempt to explain, but shut them quickly, realising that no explanation was needed. And any explanation they could give would sound like an excuse. So they both followed Kay down the ladder, Chas murmuring an apology as he followed John to the ladder. Jay merely nodded, bolting the cockpit hatch from the inside after they had left.

As soon as they were out of earshot, Chas groaned and ran a hand over his face. "I feel like such an arsehole."

When they got down the ladder, she looked up as Jay bolted the hatch to the cockpit shut. "Yeah... She's proper pissed and hurt" she thought to herself. She looked between the two of them and noticed how much the shock of Jay being there shocked them.

Kay nodded when Chas said how he felt. "You're not the only one. I feel so bad for what she heard. She seemed really hurt as well as pissed off" she replied. "I'd never want someone to hear shit about them like that" she added, running her free hand through her hair, brushing it back from her face to the back of her head. "Hopefully she'll calm down enough at some point for us to at least apologise" she said once more, ending it with a sigh.

"I don't think it's what she heard that is hurting her, it's what she is going about to do next. Sure, what we said is playing a part in it no doubt, but considering she is about to watch the black box footage of her brothers death it'll be a good few hours before she'll even want to leave the cockpit" Chas sighed, leaning against the wall. John gave Chas a look of surprise "How in Hells do you know that?" He inquired, his tone showing genuine shock.

"It's kind of obvious. The pilot's name was Jack, he is dead, and she blames herself for his death. Her brothers call sign was Black Jackal, he's also dead. Elliott told John that Jay blames herself for the death of her brother, and that is why she punched him. And then Rinaa made that jab about how both of them used their real names in their codename. It just fits" Chas explained.

Kay took in what Chas was saying, "good point.." she commented in reaction, before John spoke up in shock which brought more explanation from Chas. He really was very observant, more so than she probably gives him credit for.

Putting all the pieces together as he said them, she realised he's no doubt hit the nail on the head with his suspicions. "Makes sense, that shit would mess anyone up emotionally. Even the hardest of people." she replied. She really did feel bad for Jay.

"Bloody hell Chas, you've outdone yourself this time. You've hit the nail so hard on the bloody head that it has flown into the next dimension." John exclaimed, running a hand through his hair. "It's just a theory, I could have been picking up all the wrong pieces and jumping to conclusions where there are none" he responded, as usual the cabbie was staying modest and understating his intelligence.

"No mate, I think you've got it dead on, no wonder she's being so secretive about all this. I wouldn't want anyone knowing if that was me in her position" He sighed "what do we do now, cockpits out of bounds and I don't think another round of twister would help matters"

"so John thinks the same as I do" thought Kay, except he thought it in a much more dramatic way. "John's right, you shouldn't underestimate your opinions Chas. I think you've hit the nail on the head too. Just... John out it in a more dramatic way than how I thought it." She chimed in, with a small smirk.

As for what to do now? Kay had no clue. "Got absolutely no idea to be honest. Normally in these situations is turn to either cooking or reading or something entirely" she glanced at John hinting she meant her dancing. "But in this instance I don't fancy either of those things and none of them are group activities so to speak." She replied. "So I guess it's find something else to do in the rec room from the many things they have down there or...do our own things which quite frankly is boring and anti social, not to mention won't help matters at all."she added.

(This very well may be my last post unless I can get a few moments to reply again when in the car. But my packet data is near run out)

"John's always the more dramatic one when it comes to everything" Chas smirked. Chas knew he was smart, he didn't need the others to tell him that, but he also felt like the entire world didn't need to know that too. So he observed and paid attention to the details, hoping they might come in useful. Which it seems, at this instance at least, they had.

"I would go back to the med-bay and sit there anti-socially reading Feynman physics theories, like I normally do on this ship, but the place is probably bloodied from everything, which I don't feel like cleaning up, and Rinaa's probably still unconscious in there." "we could see if aliens invented Mario Kart or wii sports, and start a tournament or something?" "wii space golf sounds like a horrible and hilarious concept"

(Okay, good to know, my posts'll be kinda sporadic too. Actually I might n't be on at all later)

"that's a very fair point!" She chuckled, having to agree with Chas' comment about John being dramatic. She then listened to the rest of what he had say and she definitely wouldn't recommend going into the med bay for the time being. "Yeah I wouldn't recommend the med bay either at the moment personally. It's not the prettiest in there" she confirmed.

She nodded at the idea of figuring out what games they could make a tournament out of. "Sounds like a fun idea to me" she chimed in with a smile. They needed something fun more than ever right now.

"If all else, I'll just sleep somewhere else tonight" he continued, making a face at what Kay said about the med-bay. At everyone's agreement to forming some kind of tournament, John headed down to the rec room, Chas following close behind. John and Chas started sorting through the mess of console cables, trying to find out exactly what aliens had managed to invent in terms of video games.

Kay thought Chas would definitely be better off sleeping elsewhere but she figured he'd decide that for himself later. She followed them both to the rec room and whilst the two of them sorted through the cables, she tended to the TV to figure that out and to see which consoles they had so they could work out what cables went with what.

She also rifled through the shelves to find games that would be suitable for all three of them to play and luckily she found a Wii with many games to choose from.

Between the two of them, they managed to untangle and organise all of the controllers and consoles. And Chas did even manage to locate Earth Mario Kart and Space Mario Kart. Some of the controllers were evidently designed for non humanoids, the buttons and other controls located in positions that would be impossible a human hand to use. They took the human ones, plugging in, and settled down on the couch.

"Alien Mario Kart?" "Sounds too stupid not to try it"

Kay was done before the two of them were so she sat on the floor waiting. There was a two seater available but she was going to leave that for John and Chas. When it came to gaming when she was younger, she always sat on the floor so it just came second nature to her.

She agreed with Chas that the alien version of mario kart did sound utterly ridiculous, to the point they just had to try it. "Go for it. I'm good with any version!" She chimed in taking a controller and waiting.

"Alien version it is then" he smirked, putting in the drive and waiting for the game to boot up. "all standard rules apply, plus most ridiculous username gets points too. It's a thing Ell and Trish started when they first became each others gaming partners. Neither were any good, so they devised a points system based on other aspects besides winning" He added, explaining the context for Kay's benefit. Gaming night was one of those ritualistic things Trish and Elliott had, but it had quickly extended to include John and Chas. They even at one stage had a massive points system that carried over from game to game, with the outcome of finding who was the true champion.

"Gotcha" John smirked, surveying the character selection on offer, which was significantly better than regular Mario Kart, and the course options seemed to be based off various planets, Earth not being one of them.

Kay listened to the rules at play. She wasnt great with usernames, particularly crazy ones, yet that wasn't going to stop her from at least trying. Once they were sat, she scooted back so she could lean her back against the sofa in between the two of them and sat cross legged. "Okay, fine with me!" She replied after Chas finished explaining for her sake.

She scanned through all the characters available and some of them were crazy and some looked very cool to Kay but that made her decision very difficult on who to choose. In the end she went with a female alien that resembled Medusa but not quite. Something between medusa and Celia from monsters inc.. As for usernames, she went with "Medalia Octoslag" she had no idea why, it was just what came to her.

The two men took as long as Kay to decide their characters. It was a serious business for them. Far too much thought went into the choice.Chas ended up picking what could only be described as Doc Brown from Back to The Future with slitted snake eyes, startlingly neon yellow hair and half a tool box strapped to him. The avatar was smoking slightly and looked as of he'd just been in an explosion. "Parfax Paradox Pancakes" was his chosen username, and like Kay's it was literally the first thing that had come into his mind.

John picked a goldfish in a robotic exosuit, which came equipped with a cape that managed to look both douchy and dynamic at the same time. He had called himself "The Divine Popemobile." Even with alien tech, the game still decided to take far longer than necessary to boot up.

Kay found they were much more creative in their username tags than she was but she didn't particularly care. She just wanted to play the game and relax for a bit. Though seeing how long the game was taking to load, did make her a tiny bit impatient. As she waited she delved I to the Pringle tube that she did in fact bring down with her.

She found herself tapping the side of the controller absentmindedly in a random beat as she waited for it to boot up. Her focus came back 100% when it finally did boot up and she sat upright, keeping her legs crossed. She was now ready to let her competitive streak come through until she could beat the both of them.

When it finally loaded, John selected the first course that came to mind, which just so happened to be set on a water world, the racetrack being built inside vast see-through submarine tubes. At some parts the tubes rose above the waterline. The game designers had even gone so far as to include sea creatures lurking in the light green water.

When the game started it would quickly become apparent that both John and Chas were incredibly competitive. They were both leaning forwards, intently focused on the screen, barely looking away to check that yes, their fingers had indeed hit the right button. And they had no such qualms about fighting dirty against each other. To an outside observer it would appear as if the two men had a vendetta of some sort against each other.

Kay was pretty impressed by the level of detail put into the race course and game design. When it started she too, put all her concentration into playing the game, avoiding both Chas and John's competitiveness against each other as much as she could. She spent her time focusing on aiming on building up what items she could to dump behind her when the moments were right, to try and make their driving more difficult.

It wasn't long before without even looking, she went from sitting crossed legged to sitting up a bit and on her legs, with them tucked under her. If she got caught out in any moment, a curse word or two escaped her lips and she became vengeful in the game. She figured out how to use her characters power ups pretty quickly, using them to her advantage.
