"I would, but somebody's gotta fly this thing with our two main pilots injured I don't trust myself to leave this thing on autopilot for too long, the system isn't as good as a live person." He replied his eyes flicking over to the controls and monitors to check that everything was still performing as it should. He made a few slight corrections, but otherwise seemed happy.

Both of their eyes widened at the mention of the kanji. "Ell copied mine when he was sixteen, slightly different words, but it was another way of distancing himself from his past. Rinaa having it too only solidifies the connection between her and Elliott, and by that process, me, maybe even you guys indirectly"

Kay just nodded, he made a valid point there. If she wasn't so fatigued, she probably would have figured that out for herself. "Of course..."she just replied to Chas. She then put her focus back onto John as he explained the whole history of getting the kanji. "Knew I was right in thinking it's not coincidence" she replied.

She tilted her head back in her chair closing her eyes briefly. She really felt like she needed to nap. "I'm gonna go take a nap...I feel pretty fatigued" she openly told them both, feeling like they're the only ones she would have openly said anything to. She still refused to admit anything to the other girls. Standing up a bit too quickly, she grabbed the chair as she went a bit dizzy. "Yup.. definitely need a nap" she remarked.

"There's no such thing as coincidences in life" John replied, to which Chas nodded, agreeing one hundred percent with the statement made. It was one of the things they both agreed on. "It sounds like hippy crap, but everything that happens, happens for a reason. That is one of the many things I've learned working with John"

Noticing Kay's unsteadiness, they both figured out why. "Chairs up here recline, don't bother with going down deck. Last thing we need is three people injured in the med bay"

"right.." she just said, sitting her ass back down and reclining the chair. She was pretty sure she'd be fine going below deck to a proper bed, but she wasn't going to argue with Chas or John over it. She then took note of what they both said about coincidences. "Sure..I meant..it's just a figure of speech ya know?" She replied, as she closed her eyes. She didn't fall asleep just yet as she was just relaxing her body. "If anything happens or whatever, wake me okay?" She requested.

It wasn't long after that, that her body just shut down and she did indeed fall asleep for a short while. Her breathing steady and deep, and she was curled up in the reclined chair.

With Kay asleep and Rinaa and Jay below deck, Chas and John were able to properly catch up on everything that had happened to each in the meantime. Chas- ever the problem solver--proposed a few interesting theories about what exactly it was that they had been dragged into. With everything that had happened nobody had actually grilled Jay for what she knew. John confirmed Chas's opinions on what was going on with him and Kay.

Below deck Rinaa was still unconscious and strapped to the table. Jay had patched herself up, slowly healing her own wounds. Sure she could heal them fast, but that could lead to a burnout, which was the last thing she needed right now. She had taken a sample of Rinaa's blood and was running analysis on it, using the on board medical software.

Kay was asleep through their entire conversation, but if she was awake and in hiding she would have definitely eavesdropped on the topic of her and John when it came up. For one, she was curious if Chas would feel differently about her and see her as someone being in the way or not, which she didn't want to be. She also would have stepped in at the end and then grilled Chas for the whole contents that he was keeping to himself from that damned book. However, she didn't due to being asleep.

Her body recooperated well, as it was just pure fatigue that got to her. She had after all only used her healing powers for minor things, and nothing quite go the extent of Rinaa's injuries. She didn't regret doing it though, and she hoped that Rinaa wouldnt make her regret her choice. Eventually around a good half an hour later she stirred, feeling a lot better and she looked better.

Chas and John looked up from their positions talking when Kay stirred. Chas had his feet propped on the control panel, leaning back towards John as he talked. Meanwhile John was leaning over the back of his own chair. There was a can of off-brand Pringles between them, along with two half empty bottles of beer. Evidently they had raided the shopping bags.

They were about to talk to her, John most likely making a 'Sleeping Beauty' joke or something equally stupid, but they were prevented so by Jay's arrival. "I need a DNA sample from all of you, I have a theory that requires testing"

Kay stretched her arms outward in front of her as she properly woke up with a little yawn and looked between the two of them and she could tell they were about to say, primarily John when they were interrupted by Jay saying something she was not fully expecting so soon after waking up.

She pulled her chair up to the original upright position and put her feet on the ground, sitting normally. Kay had the feeling Jay was thinking Rinaa was a blood relative from the future of one of them. Honestly, it wasn't far off what they were thinking and she was fine with it. "Sure, pretty sure your theory isn't far off what we think anyway" she replied to her.

She shrugged, not that phased that Kay and co had been thinking along the same lines as her when it came to Rinaa. The kanji had been the final nail in the coffin for her. "Well either way, without proof all we have is speculation." She pulled out a set of clean needles and collection vials. "Blood samples are easiest for this" John took a needle and vila without any prompting. He located a vein easily and extracted the blood in a manner that suggested it was not his first time sticking a needle into himself.

Chas followed suit, not as practiced as John, but with some instruction from Jay, withdrew the blood. Jay then held out the final needle and vial to Kay, unsure if Kay would want to (or knew how to do it without injuring herself seriously).

Jay not being phased by them having a similar theory to her didn't surprise Kay. In fact she was pretty sure that Jay didn't care for anything that she had to say or think. Kay agreed with a nod that without proof they had nothing but thoughts and speculation. Then came the bit she was actually dreading but knew no matter how much she'd try to hide it, it'd be obvious she was faking the cool attitude.

She looked at how John wasn't even phases, of course he wasn't. His history alone would have told her he'd think nothing of it. She was slightly more reassured that Chas needed prompting but it was clear it wasn't for the reasons she'd need it. Then came the needle and vial to her. "About that....I have a thing about needles..." She sheepishly admitted. Of all the things she could admit to being uncomfortable with, especially after getting involved with this kind of life it was bloody needles. She knew it was irrational and stupid but here she was...admitting a stupid fear she had. She felt utterly ridiculous.

"So did my brother. He could fly the gauntlet blindfolded and could tube race like no other, but couldn't deal with needles" the words were out of her mouth before Jay could stop them. Her silver eyes clouded with pain, the deep emotional kind that would eat her alive if she let it. But there was also something darker implied in the undertones of her voice and the hollowness between the words. There was more to the story than met the eye. Whatever had happened to her brother, needles had played a role in this.

"I can take the blood, but it's best get it over with before you over-think it." There was no judgement in her, she knew where Kay was coming from and maybe she even understood it to.

The tone may have been tinged with some kind of darkness and pain, but hearing that story actually helped Kay a lot. It didn't make her feel so stupid or weak, knowing that it was something that Jay had encountered with people before and she didn't judge her for it. Kay didn't however dare to look at the men in the vacinity after her little admittance. It was down to embarrassment with herself and having them know.

When Jay told her she'd do it for her, she nodded, "sure, you're right..just..get it over with" she replied, taking her jacket off of her as she slept under it, like a makeshift blanket. Her cropped top was already short sleeved so she didn't even have to concern herself with rolling up her sleeve. She just rested her arm on the arm rest for Jay but then looked down at her lap so she didn't have to look at it. Her fear of them came from the stupidest thing but she wasn't willing to share her origin of it. Not yet anyway, even if she did feel grateful that Jay shared something of her own past with her.

Jay knew what she was doing, it was obvious. As she crouched down, she prepped the needle, the angle of the chair obscuring it from Kay's line of sight. She didn't give any warning, as warning would only lead to thinking. Jay flipped Kay's wrist over and located the vein. The needle was in the vein before Kay would realised Jay's hand had moved. The amount of blood needed wasn't huge and the needle was out again after less than a minute.

Chas and John had both labelled their vials, John's blood being the slightly darker of the two. Jay took Kay's vial and labelled it before descending downwards to the lower deck.

Kay was thankful for being given no warning. She just wanted it over with and if there was one thing she knew, it was that it wouldn't take long at all. She let her flip her wrist over and do what she needed. She kept a poker face on despite the fact she was in fact dreading it. She was only aware of Jay being done with the whole thing and getting up. Luckily for her, where Jay took the blood, her body hid it straight away. There was no little blood spot behind the needle or anything like most people would get.

She watched Jay head downstairs before facing forward, spotting the pringles tube and stealing it to eat some. She pulled one foot back up onto the chair and under her ass, like she would sit at John's apartment.

Neither commented on the whole 'fear of needles thing', John showing tact and keeping his trap shut for once. They also grabbed some crisps, the tube was nearing the bottom. John took a slug of beer and swivelled the chair around to face Chas and Kay. "Who's up for a bet?" "mate, I'm always up for squeezing money out of you to pay for all the cab milage" Chas replied. "Let me guess, it's on who will get a positive DNA match?" John nodded "Kay, you in?"

If she thought neither of them could surprise her anymore, she was wrong in this very moment because both did surprise her by not grilling her on the whole subject. She had it completely in her head that they'd either grill her for answers or tease her for it. So when neither did, she was surprised and thankful.

She looked down the tube to see it was near the end and subtly pouted. She really had missed out on alot of them whilst asleep. Kay knew she'd have to make a larger portion of food for herself later as she had literally just eaten cookies and crisps all day. It was like living on the streets all over again with her eating habits. She glanced up when they spoke of making a bet on who the DNA matched to. "Oh I'm in" she said. She thought she might be wrong and will once again owe money but it was a way to pass the time. "My bet is on its Jay's" she added, putting in her two cents straight away.

"An interesting choice" John replied, leaning forwards on the chair. His face was giving nothing away, but the thought of Jay being related to Rinaa had also crossed his mind. "I'm putting my money on it being Elliott's, even if he's not here right now" Chas nodded in agreement, both were good and logical guesses, and one he too had considered. "To make things interesting I'll be the curve ball and say it'll be yours that matches, John" The last part was said with a smirk and a mischievously raised eyebrow, daring John to challenge him on it.

John didn't accepting it with a nod "That's certainly out there mate, but it's your money to be irresponsible with. I reckon thirty quid is a good amount"

Kay thought she could very possibly be wrong. She mostly was going with Jay because of their previous theory, and how close Jay was with Elliott. So in her mind, Rinaa could be related to both Jay and Elliott still. So when John put in his bet of her being related to Elliott, she thought it was tad predictable of him to bet on that. Like John, she gave nothing away to either of them.

Chas' bet did surprise her greatly. Though she refused to let it show. It definitely was a curve ball to throw in she thought. A curve ball that got her mind thinking all kinds of possibilities, if she was John's, could that mean Rinaa was hers too? Or would it mean something would happen that would make John and her's bond break and he has a kid with someone not her? She shook the thoughts from her mind as she didn't want to think of anything of the latter.

"£30 it is then" she simply said.

"Thirty quid suits me fine" Chas was confident that regardless of who won, it was going to be interesting to find out the truth. John had been thrown by Chas's response too, not quite sure what exactly (If anything) the cabbie was implying. It could just be that he was trying to fuck with them and throw them off guard. With that agreed all that was left was the mandatory let us shake on this to make it official jazz. So that they did.

Chas pulled out a second can of crisps from the bag they had conveniently stowed under the control console. "So how long does a space DNA test"

If John wasn't going to show any kind of reaction to Chas' opinion, then neither was she. Shaking on it, she watched Chas pull out another can of crisps and she was incredibly tempted to steal it from his hands, but she refrained from doing so as she finished the last few crisps that were in the tube she had.

"Beats me, I'd guess not long if Jay knows what she's doing which she clearly does" she replied. "So hand over the food per-leease!" She added, putting emphasis on the word 'please'. She wasn't prepared to let them eat the majority once more.

"And this is a med ship, surely they have the high speed tech onboard for this kind of stuff" John added, Chas nodding his acceptance to both their thoughts. It seemed like finally they would be getting answers to one of the many mysteries that had plaguing them. He handed over the can of Pringles to Kay with a chuckle at her choice of words.

"Speaking on the whole 'Jay knows what she' s doing' malarkey" John emphasised with air quotes, to make his stance on trusting Jay clear. "What the bounty hunter said, do you think she really is an assassin, or is that an exaggeration and speculation based on her admittedly impressive list of abilities?"

The idea of finally starting to gain answers for some of the questions rattling around their minds, was a comforting thought to Kay. She took the can of pringles from Chas when he handed them over, instantly opening them and grabbing a handful. She kept the can for metaphorical ransom between her and the side of the chair.

She looked at John when he spoke up about the earlier scene they briefly saw between Jay and bounty hunter. Finishing a mouthful, she put in her opinion to the conversation. "It's entirely possible. I mean...putting together her abilities, skillset and the fact she got back with just minor scrapes and such? I dread to think how worse off the hunter was. It would kinda fit alot of the stats we know about her" she replied, before eating more pringles.

"She's a killer no doubt about that, I've met a few in my time, and she has the eyes of somebody who has stared death in the face and came out victorious" John replied, while Chas considered how to answer the question. John had put together a theory of sorts, which he voiced to see what the others would say to it "and she did say that her people were a warrior tribe of some sort, which explains the weapon skills and general fighting skills. Add to that the fact she was in prison, where I'm willing to bet they used Omega to dampen her abilities."

"You could be onto something with that. But regardless of whatever she was before, flying and racing spaceships is her real passion. It's obvious. Flying through that asteroid field was one of the only times I've ever seen her smile properly"

Kay kept saying the crisps whilst the two of them talked and added in their opinions and thoughts of Jay. It did seem like they were all on the same page of sorts when it came to her. She had to agree with what Chas said too, he saw what Kay and John wouldn't have seen, due to their seating positions in the cockpit. Yet even then, it was clear from her flying abilities that she was enjoying that asteroid field moment way too much.

"You both got valid points. I think we can all agree we're practically on the same page when it comes to our thoughts on Jay. And yeah, Chas you're right. She did enjoy that moment alot..maybe too much" she spoke, she chuckled at the last comment she made, "and let us not forget how many people back home clearly respect her and like her...Elliott included. So whatever or whoever she is, there's something there that's more than that. If she is an assassin? So what, she's proving herself enough times with us right? We can only judge her form her actions around us. No matter what she's done in the past" she added.

(Just to warn you from around 4pm roughly I may or may not be able to reply as got an evening kids party tonight but got alot of travelling to get there. And won't be back until 10:30pm. (Kill me it's pj masks and I have to deal with the baby shark song at some point) and then I'm working again tomorrow so I'll be slower replying then too for alot of the day)

"Well in A.J's gang it seems like she's the outsider, they respect her skills, but when it comes to Jay herself, I don't think they entirely trust her." John had picked up on that back at the fight night, which seemed like ages ago looking back. "But Elliott trusts her, and we all the know those two have a thing for each other, even if they refuse to act on it. Despite everything, I trust his judgement, if he likes her the least we can do is put up with her and give he a chance."

"And she has proved herself useful so far, let's face it, we'd be screwed if she wasn't with us acting as driver" Chas added, finding irony in how Jay taken his role as designated driver for the gang, and he had been reduced to the role of the mooching John. Well, he had been learning to fly, but the thought was still in his mind. Shortly after the words left his mouth, the ships computer pinged loudly, indicating that a message had arrived. The subject of the message was; black box and prison break.

(thanks for the warning, sounds like a nightmare party, espescially the baby shark thing. I'll be on less tomorrow as well, I've got two things with the band, one mass, and one thing playing for a Christmas festival thingy)
