Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

In the two hours they scoured the mall, she managed to find a couple of new tshirts, (one plain black, one distressed charcoal grey) herself so she didn't have to live in her cropped top. She even grabbed a men's cream shirt that was way too big on her so she could sleep in it. Along with that, she too found some basic sneakers to wear incase she got bored of wearing her boots (which was rare to say the least).

Shaking her head but chuckling at Chas, she figured either him or John would find something of the likes, and hearing John say he wanted one to piss of the League did not surprise one bit. "Of course you'd want one for that sole reason!" She chuckled at John. She glanced over to see Jay testing out throwing knives, again not to her surprise at all.

"Well how else am I supposed to piss them off more than usual? The Capes and Tights Brigade always get so annoyed when somebody shows up in civvies." "Well it's not like Mr Fashionable over here is going to wear it for style reasons, everything he wears is a statement saying 'fuck off world, I exist, and don't give a fuck'" Chas responded, getting a dig in the ribs and a smirk from his mate in response. "Maybe I need to reassemble the Trench Coat Brigade to really get up their holes"

Jay's accuracy was lethal. She bought a new set of knives, along with a selection of holsters, before moving away to inspect armour.

Kay rolled her eyes at his reply. Then laughed at Chas getting a dig in at his expense before John retaliated. "Hey, he may not be high on the fashion trends but he pulls it off.... somehow" she replied, starting off with a compliment then ending it with a little tease. She raised and eyebrow at his trench coat brigade comment before noticing Jay going to the armour section and having a look around.

"Sure.. you do you boo" Kay just responded back at John with. A saying she hadn't used in a very long time but it seemed appropriate in this moment.

"Yes, John once formed his own team consisting entirely of drak broody trenchcoat wearers who didn't like teamwork or mainstream heroes." Chas explained, seeing Kay's raised eyebrow. "It was exactly as it sounded.. " "damn awesome, until we all started trying to manipulate each other for our own gain, because nobody really liked each other, but we did have a few good times" John interjected. "In the pub, getting utterly slashed" Chas finished the sentence with a teasing tone to his voice.

"As I said, good times" John agreed with a nod. Neither of the men commented on Kay's choice of words. But Chas would be demanding an explanation later, even though he already kind of knew what was going on thanks to the Book.

Kay listened to the explanation that she didn't ask for but got anyway. Something that she used to getting, as her facial expressions seemed to always bring her answers. "Fair enough! Again, not surprising" she replied.

She glanced at Chas and she could just tell he wanted to grill her on a simple saying she picked up from Sam years ago. To her it meant nothing, but clearly others thought differently. She made a mental note to expect a grilling from Chas later, to which she would only grill him back about what he read in the book. Tit for tat kind of deal. So she gave Chas a simple single nod to say 'will explain later'.

"So...we heading back yet or...?" She asked around, now rocking back and forth on her feet as she waited for Jay.

"Yeah, I guess we are, I think all of us have everything we need, so it's just Jamie we are waiting on" Chas replied, glancing at his watch. He remembered Kay and Rinaa agreeing on two and a half hours as the maximum time for the shopping trip to take. The four had been shopping for just over two hours at this point. They hadn't seen their masked 'friend' but from the snippets of their conversation it seemed like Rinaa was heading to the sublevels, which weren't marked on the regular map. Presumably that was because the basement floors were the black market.

Jay arrived a few minutes later, having a quoted her final purchase. They began to walk back towards the ship. They were only a few minutes away from the main docks when a voice called out "Jamie Tziyen, you've got one hell of a price on your head, which means one hell of a payday for me" The owner of the voice was a bounty hunter.

Kay nodded at Chas when he pretty much confirmed her own opinions on them being done, when Jay showed her face once more. She stopped rocking back and forth on her feet and began walking back to the ship with the three of them. She was by far feeling ready to head back to the ship.

Then came a voice calling out for Jay and she sighed. "Of course it couldn't go fully smooth" she thought to herself. Granted, they had gone quote a long time without any drama, but she hoped it would continue before they got to their destination at hand and the biggest drama would kick off.

Internally Jay sighed, of course this drama was going to happen right now, just as things had been going so well. Before turning around she spoke in a low tone, so that only Chas, John and Kay could hear. "When I say run, ye bolt like hell and get back to the 'Bird" She then turned around to face the bounty hunter, who was standing a few metres away. He continued with his spiel. "Once again you've pissed off some incredibly powerful people. Painting a big blue bird in the sky accompanied by number code that screams 'watch this space', thats either really ballsy or indicitave of a death wish. It'll be a pleasure to collect your bounty."

"Well everybody needs a hobby, and mine is evading capture by arseholes like you. You think you've got this all figured out, well you're just as naive as the others." The bounty hunter emitted a low laugh, before addressing Kay, John and Chas "If I were ye lot I'd leave her now, my business is with the assassin-thief, not with you lot"

My really didn't need telling twice when Jay gave the advice and advanced warning. She didn't want to be involved with her issue of an bounty hunter. She just nodded at the suggestion and waited to be told when to go. She watched as the hunter spouted off a load of words before giving the old cliche trope of 'im gonna enjoy hauling your ass in' which she was pretty sure was in every bounty hunter film possible.

She had to admit Jay held herself well in a reply but then again, she shouldn't be surprised by it. Jay was lethal. She knew she'd hold her own against this douchebag. She got the feeling this wasn't exactly her first bounty hunter she had encountered. When she turned to the three of them and told them to go, she just grabbed both Chas and John by their sleeves, and gently yanked on them to come with her as she knew they'd no doubt want to get involved if they had a chance to. "Come on, she'll be fine" she said quietly, only so they could hear.

"We'd better hope she gets out of this, otherwise that leaves us with Broody Mask as our chief pilot." John was as blunt as ever. Chas was less happy to leave, but against his instincts let himself be led away. As soon as the three backed away, Jay unsheathed two of her blades, proving that she had good reason to always be armed. It was also at that moment that the bounty hunter whistled and five dark shapes slunk out of the shadows.

They resembled earth wolves, but bear like in size and more muscled. Their eyes were dark pits. Clearly they had been augmented and upgraded, equipped with metal claws, razor fangs and armour poking out from underneath the coarse spiky fur. They moved into a semicircle hemming Jay against the wall.

She knew Chas would be the least willing to go but they had to trust in Jay's abilities to get out of these situations. She also didn't want to piss her off anymore by staying when she told them to go. "Mm yeah.. but she's got the skills to get out of this. She obviously has the confidence in her skills to do so, otherwise she wouldn't have told us to go if she thought she'd need backup.", She tried to reassure both of them, Chas more than John.

Kay heard the whistle but forced herself to not to look back or the moral compass in her brain would make her get involved despite not wanting to in a lot of ways. She just kept walking quickly with the men to their ship as they were told, making it back in no time.

Chas was looking uneasy about it despite Kay's words. It was visible on his face. He hadn't seen Jay fighting Elliott, but he knew she was lethal, and the bounty hunter had called her an assassin. It could be exaggeration, but he was in no doubt about the fact that Jay had been trained by somebody with serious skills. He bit back his thoughts, trusting that Jay would get through. "Or she's giving herself up so we can get away" John muttered darkly to nobody in particular.

He had been a given a key to the ship, and opened up, heading up to the cockpit, warming up the engines. Whatever happened, a quick getaway was going to be needed.

Kay truly felt bad she was making Chas walk away from the confrontation. She could see how uneasy he felt about doing it. She just hoped she was right in what she was saying. She didn't want the guilt of being wrong. Then John spoke darkly another possible idea and she frowned. "Let's just assume for the sake of our consciousnesses, that it's what I said and not that okay?" She replied to him.

Walking into the ship she sat down on one of the seats in the cockpit. Like the others, the realisation of a quick getaway did not go amiss to her either. She just hoped it would be because Jay ran into the ship telling them to get the hell out of here and not because of another situation.

It was about eight minutes later that somebody made an appearance, but it wasn't Jay. It was Rinaa, injured, but still running, one hand firmly clamped against her side in an effort to stop anymore blood leaking out of the gash in her side. Her hands were bloodied with dark red-black blood and the blood stain on the side of her shirt was gradually growing bigger. She dumped the backpack at random on the floor, before staggering to the med bay.

Jay followed shortly after, bruised with superficial cuts, and a few proper gashes, but for the most part unharmed. She was splattered with black blood. With both inside Chas took off, by some miracle remembering how to do so without burning the other craft around him.

Kay looked behind her to see the two of them run in injured, one more than the other. As much as she disliked Rinaa, she did save her life...sort of. She wanted to help. She waited until it was safe to get up again, once well and truly away from their stop over and into space once more.

Getting up, she couldn't believe she was about to run to the med bay and help the girls out. "I'll be back" she said to John and Chas before disappearing downstairs and hurrying to the med bay. Reaching there she walked in, heading over to Rinaa first as she was worse. "I can help" she told her flatly. "I know I know...shocker to me as well that I'm offering so make the most of it okay?" She added with a smirk.

Rinaa had pulled off the shirt to expose the wound, a deep gash running across her left hand side. It was deep, deep enough to see the white bones of her ribs. Her blood was dark red, almost black in colour. Barely visible under the smeared blood, were a tattooed series of vertical kanji, located just below her ribcage, just like those on Elliott and John. There were also scars across her back, but those were only visible for the brief instant before she lay down on the table.

Jay was already gloving up and tossed a pair at Kay. Rinaa's voice was laced with pain and closer to hiss "Now is not the time for this whole holier than thou act, my left fourth rib has snapped, and there is a shard maybe seven centimetres attempting to puncture my left lung, or my heart, depending on the angle. It needs to be removed......and Jay, you need to tie me down before removing it" Jay nodded and began strapping Rinaa's ankles and wrists to the underside supports of the table.

Kay grabbed the gloves that Jay threw her and put them on. She gritted her teeth at the snarky reply she got from Rinaa. "Just take it on the chin Kay...." She thought to herself to calm herself down so she wouldn't snap at Rinaa. She decided to ignore the first part of what she said, and just focus on the injuries she was describing instead.

She could see just about the same tattoo that was had by both John and Elliott and it was just one more clue that seemed to match to her theory. She made a mental note to tell John that later. She let Jay strap Rinaa down before attempting to remove the snapped off rib cage piece. "You get that out Jay, I can heal her myself. It'll be quicker than any other way" she told Jay. She knew she could use her phoenix power to heal Rinaa quickly and efficiently, especially after she healed John that one time.

"If Kay's healing doesn't work of if I start convulsing, shifting or something equally awful, you've got to try to heal me Jay." Rinaa added, through gritted teeth, her side was agony. Every word hurt and her hands were gripping the table edge practically buckling the metal. Jay added one final strap around the girl's hips. It was slightly worrying that the med bay was equipped with straps to tie people down with, but now wasn't the time to dwell on it.

Jay carefully took a set of tweezers and a pen light, which she gripped firmly between her teeth, aiming it into the gash. She could see the glint of bone, including the snapped rib. But it took some more poking around with the tweezers to actually locate the shard. She carefully manoevered it out, dropping it on the table. Rinaa hadn't been exaggerating about it's size, the bone fragment was almost as long as one of Jay's fingers and jagged. Throughout the whole process Rinaa hadn't let go of the table edge once

Kay nodded, she watched as Jay fastened the last strap around Rinaa's hips. She could only imagine the kinds of people that this med bay saw to to warrant so much strapping for a bed. Keeping her mind on the moment at hand though, she stepped to one side as Jay stepped up to search for the bone shard that was causing Rinaa all of the pain imaginable.

She was ready to help in any way she could but she wasn't needed as Jay managed to locate the shard at hand. Seeing the size of it get pulled out did surprise Kay, but she didn't let it show on her face. She was glad she had a good poker face from all the times she scammed people out of cash to keep surviving and get a night's rest in a crappy motel or b&b for the night.

Then it came to her turn. She hoped it work without Jay needing to try. She partly wanted to prove she was the useless one out of the group or the token damsel in distress all the damn time. She wanted to prove herself. She was damn certain having gloves on would hinder her, she took one of them off chucking it to one side. "Okay..let's do this" she said, stepping up and hovered her hand over the huge gash. Closing her eyes she focused on the wound and it's state, reopening her eyes, they glowed their usual golden hue like fire was burning inside them before her hand glowed slightly. She slowly moved it from one point of the gash to the other and she could feel it healing beneath her hand, despite it not touching her skin.

When she reached the other side of the gash, she blinked and her eyes turned to normal and her hand stopped glowing.

Rinaa's eyes were shut tight, so she didn't see Kay's eyes change, but Jay did. Jay had stepped back, giving kay space to work and taking the bone fragment with her, not quite sure what the best thing to do with it was. At first nothing seemed to happen when Kay's hand passed over the wound, but slowly the internal organs, circulatory vessels and muscle fibres began to knit themselves back together. The healing was concentrating on the internal area of Rinaa, where the most damage had been done. The rib bone grew back, the fibres meshing together and elongating before their eyes.

But that wasn't the only change. With the healing came the screaming. Despite trying to keep it in, Rinaa ended up screaming in pain and, what could only be described as terror. Her body convulsed against the straps, bucking hard and trying to break free, but the leather held tight, even as her back arched upwards into an almost semi circular shape. Her fingers morphed to claws, which pierced into the metal of the table.

Kay kept the concentration the whole time she was healing Rinaa, despite the screaming and convulsing Rinaa was doing. She knew she couldn't break her concentration until it was done. Luckily she managed to not put her through it very long and in reality it was about a minute before she had stopped.

Stepping back she saw and felt she had managed to heal her a considerable amount. "I've done all I can" she told them both. Healing that much did wear her out but not enough to show on the outside and she certainly wasn't going to show it to either Jay or Rinaa. "I'll leave you two to it" she said once more, before turning on her heels and heading out the med bay to John and Chas in the cockpit. They'd want to know how they both were and she fully intended to let them know.

The convulsing took longer to calm, and in the end, Jay took matters into her own hands, quite literally. By taking the defibrillator and sending a large enough shock through it that it completely knocked Rinaa out. With her out cold, the convulsions stopped and her body slumped on the table. "And what you've done....it's appreciated, you didn't ask for this mess to be dragged into your life, yet here we all are. So..thanks….even if the kid'll never say it, she means it." Jay replied, and she meant it too. She turned away and carefully she began to clean her own wounds, mere trifles in comparison to Rinaa's gash.

Up in the cockpit Chas and John both turned around at Kay's arrival. They'd heard the screams. Both questioning her at the same time "who were you murdering down there?" "are they both alive? |It sounded like somebody was being tortured down there"

Just as she left, she turned to Jay at the doorway and simply nodded in acknowledgement of her thanks. "You're welcome" was all she said before she headed up to the cockpit.

Reaching said area, she got bombarded by questions from both of them and of course they would think she put Rinaa and Jay through Hell. "Thanks for that" she said sarcastically before turning serious. "But yes, they're both still alive. Rinaa is out cold so she can rest but she'll be fine. The screaming was the pain she was in. She snapped a rib clean apart, so when I healed her, it naturally hurt like Hell as it all stitched itself back together and grow back. Jay had to knock her out to stop her convulsing and screaming." She explained sitting down with a sigh.

It took alot more of her phoenix aura to heal Rinaa than it did John that time, and it was now it quite possibly was showing on her face. She was tired but she'd be fine.

"If she's convulsing and screaming that much during healing, I'd hate to see or hear her during torturing." Chas remarked darkly, without context the screams had been terrifying. Even though he barely knew Rinaa, he was worried about her. He knew it came from having a teenaged daughter of his own, as a parent he wouldn't want to see anybody's kid hurt or in that much pain. And as well as that he had a sneaking suspicion that Rinaa was far younger than they were all assuming her to be.

"You didn't happen to find out anything from either of them did you?" John asked, noticing Kay's fatigue, but choosing not to comment on it.

"mm..I thought the same but was busy on concentrating on making the girl better in any way I could." She replied to Chas. She somehow got a sense that Chas was indeed worried about her, more than she was. "I'm sure you could go see her if you wanted Chas" she told him. "Jay is just there with her, whilst patching herself up." She added.

She looked at John when he asked if she found out anything from them. "No..they weren't exactly in the mood to talk surprisingly enough" she said, meaning the surprising bit sarcastically. "I did notice Rinaa had exactly the same kanji tattoo down her ribs as you and Ell though" she commented. "But other than that, all I got was a snarky mouth from Rinaa" she added.
