Fandom Edge of the Empire and the Age of Rebellion

As usual it was Arlak's goal to find a jetpack. She didn't know why he wanted one so badly but he never stopped talking about it. She was restocking her medical supplies when she overheard Yusei and Arlak arguing with a man over just that. Yusei was no negotiator, he was getting angry and as such making the person he was trying to deal with angry and uncooperative. She thanked the person she had been dealing with and put away the products she had just bought, before heading over to the arguing trio.

"What seems to be the problem here?" She said, a little exasperation in her tone, she was not in the mood for this and keeping her voice level was a challenge.

"This man is trying to rip me off." The dealer said gesturing angrily at Yusei who raised his hands in mock surrender. She tilted her head slightly, suddenly sugar sweet.

"I do apologise for my friends" She hesitated at the word friends. "They lack manners and negotiating skills." The stall tender smiled, won over by her charm and returned the apology. She turned away from them and the pair followed her like scolded dogs. Until Arlak remmebered what he had been told.

"Ardana they ssssaid I could find one." She looked over at him slightly perplexed. "The Jawassssss" He was clearly not going to drop this until they went to investigate.

"Fine. Lets go. We have time to kill anyway." Yusei yelled that he would drive and ran towards a repulsor lift transport. "Just let me do the talking." She said despairingly.

Pash was remembering his induction into the Imperial Acadamy

"So Cadet Tarkin, youve scored higher in tests than many, but not exemplary, your answers show you are hiding something"

"No Lt. Mortin not at all"

"Well Cadet if we find it we will get it out of you, this is Carida, and youre not a clone, so youre lucky to be here"

Training began immediatly and inside 2 years Pash was the peak of human condition, but not his own, at his graduation his Fathe pinned his medal to his chest.

"I think this is the first time ive ever been proud of you Tarkin, dont make it the last, youre to immediatly report to sector 119 and get your equipment, your joining the scouts"

Arriving at the bunker the Elite Scout Troopers used he was shown inside, given black and white armour and his standard issue pistol he came back for his breifing, turns out that there were rebels on Coruscant, and Tarkin was going to be part of the squad clearing it out. He turned to see a broad-chested short trooper holding out a hand.

"Jetak is the name, i'll be heading up this mission, dont mess up...."

Yusei drove like an idiot and by the time they reached the scrapyards where the Jawa's they had been sent to see were scrambling about, Ardana felt rather ill. She carefully stepped out, steadying herself for a moment before moving to talk to the cloaked Jawa's. Yusei instantly broke their deal and started trying to deal with them, but tired of his voice she turned and punched him. He scrambled for purchase on the scrap and managed to keep his feet, but it had the desired effect and he stood silently clutching his bloody nose.

"Sorry about that." She said turning back to the jawas. "Now we have been told you may have a jetpack. Condition doesn't matter." They nodded and one disappeared to find it. They muttered something about cost, which she rapidly managed to reduce to 2000 credits less then their original price. She had never seen Arlak happier than when they exchanged credits for the sorry looking machine.

"Passssh can fix thisss right?" He said, elation clear in his tone.

"You'll have to ask him that." She returned, as they reached the speeder, reluctantly climbing back in to let Yusei take them back to the encampment.

Coruscant was busier than Tarkin had ever seen, but there were no non-humans in sight, Tarkin looked down at his black armour, hidden in the darkness as he set up his rifle. He had been given a long range disruptor rifle for this mission, he was comfotable with it, modified it himself, his mechanical aptitude with weapons was getting much better and the sights were perfect when the rebel target was given the order to drop his weapons.

"Fuck you imperial scum" He replied, moving to shoot Jetak

ZAP

From over a mile away Tarkin watched the arm and head of the man dissappear

And that was the story of Pash's first kill...

Ardana made sure that Arlak put his new toy in one of the smuggling compartments on the ship and although difficult to drag him away from it she succeeded. Together they headed to the infirmary, asking how Pash was doing. They were told the surgery had gone well but that he was still coming round from the anesthetic and would need to rest. Arlak wanted to see him, she assumed to ask him about fixing his jetpack, but she warned him now might not be the time. He looked down-heartened but it didn't last too long as he decided to ignore the doctors and bound in to Pash's room anyway. She and Yusei exchanged a sideways glance before Yusei followed the over eager trandoshan. She remained outside, not ready to face him yet.

Pash woke to the smell of disinfectant, his body looking like it had been covered completely in bandages, he looked up to see a rather happy looking Arlak bound in with a somewhat less confident looking Ardana. He grinned at them both and clasped Arlak's hand before seeing what was over his shoulder.

"NOPE"

"No whattttttt?" Arlak said, looking confused

"The jetpack, fix it yourself, im not gunna be responsible for your feiry death, only one ive seen use one is the Mandolorian and even then i think itll be the end of him one day"

"But PASSSShhhhh" Arlak said, looking heartbroken

"Fine ill give it a look" Pash said, knowing he would regret it

"YESSSsssssss" Arlak cheered, running off to tell Yusei, leaving Ardana alone in the room next to the door

"So we made it then?" he said, gesturing for her to sit in the chair next to his bed...

She watched the pair run off, happy at least that they were getting along ok. She glanced over at Pash, he was covered in bandages but looking much more like himself. But she remained in the doorway, not moving to the chair he gestured at. Here eyes stayed low, remaining on the floor almost as though she had returned to the way she was before they had said how they felt, avoiding his eyes.

"For now I guess." She muttered, her arms folded across her chest.

"You talk about Yusei as if he is nothing, without him i would have died and you would never have known it, down in that engine section" Pash snapped back, an angry tone starting to enter, his body rising from the soft pillows

She looked surprised, as far as she knew Yusei had been nothing but a burden and hearing that he had actually managed to save Pash was news to her.

"Well I didn't know that! All I have ever seen him do is slow us down and anger people that we need to deal with." She grew a little defensive and shied back as he began to rise from the bed.

"I didnt want to bring it up because i wanted to know what you thought of him, Im about as good with people as he is, and Id like it if you saw him as our crew member rather than an ally of convenience" He said, turning over so as to face the wall, begging silently for her to come over and hold him

"We don't even know who he is. What he wants. You just let him on our ship without even questioning that." She realised now she knew nothing of Pash's past either, or Arlak's beyond the fact he was a bounty hunter. But there was something that Yusei was hiding that made her even more untrusting of him.

She moved across the room, not liking him having his back to her. She perched gently on the edge of his bed, a hand resting on his shoulder.

"You know, I dont know anything about any of you, I dont even know if we are all using our own names or fake ones, I only know that i love you" He said, turning over, bandage slipping off his chest as he pulled Ardana into a passionate kiss

She smiled softly, the anger melting away from her as he pulled her in to a kiss. She was careful not to hurt him as she lent over him, kissing him gently, passionately. When she pulled away she touched the point where the bandage had fallen, the scar from the sword slash covering what was once a tattoo. She inclined her head slightly, touching the remains of the black ink.

Pash was happy, he hadnt even noticed Ardana touch his chest until it came over the remains of his tattoo from induction and graduation. He prayed that she didnt recognise it but he didnt have much hope.

Recognition hit her finally, the mark was broken and damaged but she knew it. She pulled away suddenly, her eyes wide with shock.

"Pash, why do you have that mark?" She was afraid of the answer but she needed to hear him say it.

"Because when I was young and full of ideals i used to put on a suit of laminate armour and worked for the glory of the so-called Empire, back when i still believed they did good things, why do you think i want to help the rebellion so much? Why do you think i care so much about non-humans? I have a terrible past and i cant do a thing about it, but i got out, i killed a bunch and ran, far out onto the outer rim, did a few jobs and then worked for a mutual friend of ours, thats my life story"

She moved back uncertainly, her green eyes wide and almost fearful. She was speechless, her mouth slightly open in a wordless gape. She believed him too, every word of it.

"Thats why you helped me." She said, her voice almost a whisper.

"No, i helped you because even then i felt something, I helped you because i knew we could be better than the rest of the scum, and we have become so much more together" He said, eyes pleading for her to come back

She shook her head slightly, still not sure what to say. Totally taken aback by this revelation she stood in stunned silence. HEr eyes kept flicking over him, falling back to the mark on his shoulder.

"What else don't I know." She said finding her voice again. "Here I am worrying about Yusei and I've been living with an Imp all this time."

"Really? An Imp now am I? Maybe youd prefer not to, maybe once we get our pay i should leave" He handed her a datastcik after playing on his datapad for 30 seconds

"Here is my military record, read it, or dont, and make your choice" He said, walking off to get dressed and shop

She flinched at his anger. She was in shock and took the datastick from him, watching him move to leave. She stood rooted to her spot for a moment before deciding to head back to the ship.

She moved in to the cockpit and sat down, turning the datastick over in her hands. She put it down on top of her datapad, and rested her head in her hands.

Pash concentrated on shopping, his mind distracted, agreeing to any price he was given, buying a military pack and a few other bits of gear including a wrist mount for his pistol he quickly set up. Checking over the Nightflyer he noticed the damage that had been done, they had nearly died again, and Ardana may not even have cared had she known he was an Imperial. Why had he told her? he could have lied, but that wasnt him, he would have to take the consequences.

She stood at the nightflyers ramp, nerves rising at the thought of facing him again. But she had to do it.

"Pash. Are you in here?" She called out, moving towards the sound of movement inside. When she found him she extended a hand, the datastick flush against her palm. "I didn't read it. I realise who you were doesn't matter. All that matters is who you are and I love you." She couldn't quite meet his eyes as she said it but her words were honest. "I'm sorry for over reacting. It was a bit of a surprise is all."
