Fantasy Dragon's Roar 3: Rise of The Dark Arts ( Finished )

( PLOT LINE POST )

The hooded woman had successfully managed to infiltrate the White House, which had terrible defenses. She proceeded to kill the president and all others inside the White House and get captured in the process. She had gone through torture, refusing to answer them to put on a good show and a stupidly believable act. She couldn't believe how easy it was to manipulate them into thinking she was at their mercy. She didn't even care if they took her hood off to reveal a battered and terrified face. She'd keep this up for a while and then tell them whom sent her at the appropriate moment. She just needed to bide her time until the other Dark Arts members finished their end of the task. Which would be easier to carry out since America would be in an uproar due to the White House being stained in red.
Isaac followed the servants to the separate room and said. "Thank you." As they left, Isaac then took a seat on the couch by the cocoon saying. "Hey Isabel, quite alot has happened since the last time we talked."
Isabel obviously didn't respond.

Lilith was going down an empty hallway which led to the previously mentioned girl. There seemed to be something terrible down that hall.
Lilith could feel the ominousity in the air, shrouding the hallway like a blanket. She felt the hair on her skin rise to attention, which was something she hadn't felt in a while. She was offically intruiged. She continued down her path, never straying from the shadows, trying to find the source of this darkness.

The source of this energy stems from a room. There was a servant standing in the way of the bolted door.

Lilith bit her lip, staring hard at the room. She sees the guard, and amplify whatever shred of darkness he has to the best of her abilities, which depending on the person, can turn them completely evil. They could die from too much of it, as some people aren't equipped to handle that, while some become her loyal servant. She still stays in the shadows, incase something goes wrong. She definitely wouldn't want to be caught here.

The old man starts to explain to those whom are at the dining table. "1855, that's the real date in which the Dark Arts was founded. By a witch who's name I shall not mention for the sake of my very soul. Here... before I left I took some things with me." He opens the box and pulls out some books. Several cloaks come out as well with a map. "These books contain information on every species that lives or has lived. As well as information with various spells, sadly they can only be performed with their symbol. That map points out the bases around the world. Last time I checked the main base was in the Arctic Circle. What would you all like to know about the organization."

The servant starts to yell as the darkness clouds him. "Agh! What the hell is this?!"

Bruce looked around at the castle and the courtyard, whistling at the impressiveness of the whole thing. He thought he got off good with a nice house but this castle put his little mansion to shame. Though Julie herself didn't look too pleased to be here, more so than usual. He flinched a bit when Jackie mention the guild being in shambles, he couldn't help blaming himself for not being there to help with the guild and instead running away to put it all behind him. It did comfort him a bit when she said that she was proud of him, probably only because she was in the same boat as him. Bruce sat down at the table before answering Jackie's question. "Well it all came to me from above you know. Just like, this premonition that I should go into therapy. My background of being a mercenary and doing the horrible things I did for money back then, it helped me to relate to other former criminals who have started to regret their own pasts. Eventually so many other people started coming to me to talk about their problems and I just tried to act like I was a friend. More of a hotline than anything else. And make no mistake, I'm a martial arts expert who added therapist to their skill set. Along with stock trader and book writer."
Jackie makes a face that expresses 'not bad, dude' nearly perfectly, but appraises the castle with open awe, "Y'know, I figured the dragon lady had money, but this... This is almost excessive..." When Julie - who looked the exact same way Jackie imagined that she herself had looked when she was told about going to New York - lead them to the kitchen, Jackie sat down without a word, listening to Bruce. "That's actually... Really noble. I don't think I'm a good enough person to be a therapist," She comments, with a shrug and a sheepish laugh, "Only people I could relate to are the ones on death row. I'm less of a mercenary and more of a cold-blooded killer type of deal, y'know?" She pauses a bit, then amends her words, "At least, I was, couple of years back. I was... crazy. I would've put any psycho the guild has met so far to shame - that level of crazy. I was a fu-" She looks at Emily, then lamely corrects herself, "I was a freaking maniac, man. But regardless of my past issues, I'm glad you found something you like to do."

Jackie sighs, turning from her more easy-going conversation with Bruce, back to the old man and the topic of 'The-World-Is-Trying-To-End-Again'. She leans over and scoops most of the papers into her arms, reading through them (though she was mostly skimming to absorb the jist of the information), "If you can't get me names, I want capabilities. What is the mysterious founder capable of? What's the extent of these powers?"

Julie had fallen asleep in her room with the cocoon. Some of the servants make their way into the room to carry the cocoon out to Isabels room. They walk past the dining room with it.
A servant, a short haired, blonde girl, hands filled with envelopes and official looking documents, crouches beside Julie and shakes her shoulder. "Jules, wake up. I've gotta talk to you about something."

Dru smiles and picks up a book and begins reading. This was a guild matter and he wasn't a part of the guild in the slightest. Fahy walked in and sat at the table hearing the old mans question (that doesn't have a ? at the end of it) and asked "What is their main goal or reason for being a cult?"

( Yeah, I don't care enough to change one small detail. )

Julie groans as her eyes open. She sits up and rubs her eyes, not too surprised to see the cocoon gone. "Yes?"

The old man clears his throat. "She can manipulate many things through the symbols. Transportation, summoning, various spells, and other sorts. That's all I know about her, my knowledge is extremely limited when it comes to her. I wasn't all too important so I wouldn't know everything about her. I only know her name and other pieces of information from the book about her." He points to one of the books on the table. He hands it to Jackie. "I haven't looked at it in years though." The old man turns to Fahy. "As to why she formed it... confuses me. She formed it for knowledge. Yet she already knew everything herself, she merely gained followers and spread the knowledge around through the organization. Well thats what the book says. The old man was starting to look back into his memories. "Thank Dark Arts were never this bad. They've done tedious things in the past, yes. But nothing this terrible or drastic. Which reminds me, Hekate. Why did you face off against the founder? What happened to her afterwards?"

Hekate sunk in her chair, busted. She tried to hide those details as much as she could.

( @Ameythyst )

The servant drops in front of the bolted door. A loud thud could be heard inside the room as well.

Dru went back to his reading while Fahy pondered the response he had gotten then looked expectantly at Hekate to see what she would say. He was sure she had some sort of good reason for doing it Dru was much less certain. (is your avatar obito?)

Jackie turns on Hekate, her eyes accusing. She walks around the table and covers Emily's ears so she can't hear anymore of the conversation, both because Jackie doesn't have a good handle on her ability to not swear when pissed off, and because a part of her felt like Emily shouldn't be hearing about awful shit, anyway, "Well, you've been so fucking eager to put our lives in danger to fight this organization, at least give us the god damn courtesy of telling us why we have to fight on your behalf."

----

The servant internally lets out a sigh of relief that Julie didn't kill her or something, knowing her reputation of killing with little reason, then continues, kneeling beside Julie, "I don't know if you know me, remember me, or even knew about my existence, but my name is Chael. Chai, for short. I was your grandmother's assistant and am still your family's private messenger," Chai pauses, looking down to avoid eye contact, "I know I'm a year late, but I'm sorry for your loss. I've been busy for the last year with the subject of your grandmother's will. Had to fight a couple lawyers so politicians didn't get their hands on anything that was rightfully your family's to inherit," She shakes her head, saying something about 'dirty, greedy bastards' under her breath while shifting through her envelopes, then pulls out two, pausing to glance up at Julie, "Would you like me to read off your inheritance, or would you like it for another time?"

Well this was such a great situation to be in, a person that knows everything about everything in existence. Or at least whatever has been discovered and then some. The originals weren't that different of foes though, but something in his gut told Bruce that this would be a whole different battle than before. He wouldn't have questioned Hekate fighting the woman who'd started the Dark Arts in the first place had the old man mentioned that they hadn't been as terrible as before and if she didn't look so guilty about it. He stood up along with Jackie "yeah, I mean, I already am up for destroying the Dark Arts after all the damage they've caused so far but I'd like to know why you came to us. Because to me it seems like you've provoked them into action."

Julie's cat ears slightly fall as she sighs. "Read it now. Thank you for your troubles."

Hekate taps her fingers on the table. She was nervous, that damn old man just had to open his mouth. "Well..." Hekate takes a deep breath, preparing to explain. "The founder's century of birth was the 5th century. Born from a bloodline of talented but dark witches. I blessed her... like Athena blessed Arachne. Granting her extraordinary powers over the element of witchcraft. I don't know why but... She changed drastically. Her moral views, personality, and well.... Most everything. The main entity of witch mana... The one that devours things didn't even chose her. That's when I stopped paying attention to her for quite some time and assumed she was dead. Only to find out she had lived through means unknown to me. Mortals come up with new talents constantly but even that was beyond me. Centuries later she formed the cult and had followers from all sides of the globe come in. She had knowledge, power, and a committed organization. That's when I knew things were getting out of hand, especially the day in which I was mistaken for her. That's when I came down to stop her." It's been proven that Hekate seemed to get angry due to her pride as a goddess and her high position. "I beat her... but in the end we both knew deep down she was close to being just as good as I. Which is something I couldn't stand. So I cursed her.... just like Athena did. I bonded her spell book to her body, I limited her powers, and made sure any child she has will be unable to get her witch trait. After that.... She 'disbanded' the Dark Arts and disappeared. Some records say she died... I know for a fact she didn't. I don't know what they're up to know.... and I apologize for what I've done. I didn't know things would get this bad." It seemed like the story she gave didn't show up on the records at all. Even Krios was checking. The old man was flipping through the book, it seemed like some information was completely different as well.

"Ok if you did that to her, how does she still have power? She still seems to be pretty strong and like he said she can still do limited magic." Fahy asked and tilted his head slightly as he was confused. Dru glanced up and raised an eyebrow before quietly asking "is that why you think power corrupts?" Then Dru glanced at his brother.

Jackie resists the urge to simply leave, cupping her hands around Emily's a bit more securely so she can't hear, "I wonder what it must be like, to be able to not even think about us as actual people," Jackie hisses under her breath, then lets go of Emily, stalking around the table to grab Hekate by her skinny, child-like bicep, lifting her out of her chair as if she were as light as a feather. She holds Hekate up enough that she can whisper into her ear, "Do absolutely fucking anything to attack me, and I will kill you. I'm itching for a reason to throw you through a fucking wall," She doesn't give Hekate the chance to think for even a second that her threat is empty, as corruption forms in Jackie's hand, waiting to be unleashed in the currently magic-less goddess. She drags the pseudo child through the doors of the dining room and into one of the grand halls, out of ear shot of the other guild members, dropping her on the floor without ceremony, "Now that no one is here to listen and no one is here to hear what I'm about to say to you, but I'm going to make a few things very fucking clear."

Crouching down to the girl's height, Jackie makes very intense eye contact, her expression furious, "You will personally go to every fucking guild member and sincerely, from the bottom of your heart, thank them for risking their lives to save your worthless ass. We don't have to be here. Some of us don't want to be here. I don't - do you think I want to save the world again? No. I don't. I hate fighting someone else's god damn battle. You, out of complete fucking, petty spite, have cursed someone, and now the lives of my old and new guild mates are endanger because of your lack of foresight. The thing about humans is, unlike you entitled deities, is that we grow. With time, we grow more powerful. We learn. We develop. But most importantly, you overlooked our ingenuity and our ambition. You gave her a blessing, she took advantage of the gift, and used it to try and surpass you. Now, you're using a bunch of people - and I hope you haven't forgotten the fact that we are, in fact, real people with feelings - to try and fix your mistake. And I'll say it now, that your apology isn't going to mean anything if somebody dies. And I'm going to also tell you something else," She grabs Hekate by the collar of her dress, lifting her and pinning the girl to the wall, "I may be mortal, and I may not be able to kill you, but if any fucking one of them die, I'm going to hold you responsible for it, do you understand me?"

----

Chai nods, opening up the envelope and pulling out papers, "Now, I'm going to first say that this isn't the entirety of her inheirtance, it's just the stuff she specified you were specifically supposed to recieve," She begins to read through the will, "To my granddaughter, Julianne Selene Van Fenrir, I leave two of my most prized possessions; I leave my trusted weapon, named Siobhan after a woman who was even fiercer in loyalty than she was in battle. While you might feel like a weapon is a rather emotionless gift, I hope that it will be able to protect you as it had protected me when I can no longer be able to do it myself. Along with this sword - which you may find too large to use - I grant you ownership of my entire armoury. With this gift, I hope to also give you the power to protect the second. While this is a gift handed on in my passing, it is also a responsibility," Chai stops reading to open a package, and very gently shakes out two, crystal vials connected to a chain, "These vials contain two souls. One, which is engraved with the symbol of Hermes, contains the soul of Goddess of Healing and Purity, your great-grandmother, Usagi. In the other, engraved with my family crest, contains a soul even more precious to me. The soul of my first child, Rose, is held within. These both hold very significant value to me, but they also hold great power. Protect them from harm, and keep them from being used to cause suffering."

Chai reads ahead a bit, so she doesn't stutter, but when she starts, she seems a bit choked up, "My dearest granddaughter, I'm sorry that my last, true words to you may only be on paper. I know that you grieve my loss, but I am - was - old. There are few who can say they have lived longer than I, and though you are young and feel you have lost me too soon, my time had been coming. I have been prepared, and I desperately hope that you know I did not die afraid or unready for it. There are few words that can express my true feelings, but know that I died knowing I was loved by a beautiful, talented, wonderful granddaughter. I am grateful and honoured to not only have known you, but to have been a part of you growing up and becoming a powerful woman. Though I do not know whether or not you feel the same, but I feel for you as I would my own child, and consider you and your sister like you were my daughters. I am blessed to have you as my granddaughter, and I know my legacy will be even greater with you leading it. Even in death, I will love you for always. Love, your grandmother, Layla."

Chai wipes under her eyes a bit, then reads a bit more, saying, "She, uh, didn't really specify what's going to be done with the rest of her belongs, including, but not limited to, her castles, her individual belongs, her land rights, and all the treasure she has hoarded, but she said that that was for you and your family to divvy up accordingly."

"She was almost neck to neck with me. I cut her power down in half, that still won't do all too much." She was about to answer Dru when Jackie came at her. Once they were outside and Jackie said what she needed to, Hekate simply stares up at her. "For one, Jackie. I don't need it for myself, I never asked for my own protection. I asked you all to come here for the sake of the world. I thought you'd be able to figure that out since I'm obviously no longer the focus and the world seems to be. True... I didn't foresee her doing this. You can hold me responsible but the moment you speak as if I'm holding you here is where you're wrong. I'm not holding any of you here. You say you don't want to do it. So why are you still here? I remember asking you all to help not forcing you to. Anyone of you could have walked out that door so don't put your sob story of being unable to smuggle drugs around on me. They're already going to get compensated for their efforts just as much as you are. If I remember correctly you jumped in for patronage without asking me for the full story. "I've helped countless mortals in the past. Just because you assume I'm using you even though you've brought all of this upon yourself when I simply asked for assistance doesn't mean you're right. When the Gods whom truly didn't care for mortals had their way with them and turned them into any beast imaginable who was the goddess that stood up to the Olympians to fight for their rights? You may say it's out of spite but look at New York. That's what happens when you mortals get too ambitious, if anything we should be lucky she's at half power. Her heart was twisted from the beginning, for reasons I don't know of. She had zero problem killing children younger than the age of 6 to simply use for spells. So if you want to grow cross with me for stopping a woman such as her from running around with such power? So be it. History has proven that we Gods are always there to stop your mortals when you go too far. Such as this witch, the tower of Babel, Arachne, and countless more." Hekate's eyes soften at the mention of the next sentence. "Greece.... Rome. The Golden Race in what you call Greek Theology were gone without a trace. Too perfect. The silver race was far too arrogant so they suffered the same fate. The current race, the bronze race is just right. Not too perfect... not too bad. If anyone is entitled right now, it is you mortals. We have watched over you and God's such as I have gone out of our way to help you in times we didn't have to waste the effort in. Yet here you are, threatening me because you have to do something for somebody other than yourself. Your leader is part deity. Her grandfather whether you all know it or not. Has been watching out for all of you without forming a patronage. So if you really want me to go around thanking everyone. You should thank him as well. I'd like for you to put me down now."

Chai can feel a warmth around her body. Julie was embracing her, setting her head on Chai's shoulder. She could feel the tears getting ready to flow. She wouldn't regularly do this but she just needed it for the moment. "I accept this responsibility." She holds her even tighter as she tries to hide her crying face on Chai's shoulder.

Dru upon seeing Hekate carried out of the room like a child followed Jackie because he was bored and stood a little ways away, just close enough for him to hear not only what Jackie said but also what Hekate replied and Dru shook his head sometimes he wished he could just become a full sandman and live in a world where everything was so much simpler. In dreams things were fluid and up to your making allowing beautiful displays of the truth in people's hears or the dark barren landscape of someone not living a happy or fulfilling life and that is what he saw before him. A woman who was at the end of her rope and grasping for more and a goddess who was a prime example of the faults of both man and gods. Dru sighed quietly and turned to leave not caring if either of them saw or heard him because that was not his business and he personally didn't care how it resolved itself. @Light @CelticSol

As far as Bruce could tell the goddess had made a mistake a loooong time ago by giving powers to this woman, afterwards trying to stop her for good and fix that mistake she had made long ago. He was glad that the goddess had at least brought the woman's powers down as that would make it easier for Dragon's Roar to kill her. Maybe it was the only possible way to win. He followed along as Jackie took the little goddess away, he didn't agree with everything that she had said. It was time for Bruce to step up to the plate instead of keeping a backseat. "Jackie, this is more than just about Hekate, this is about the whole fucking world, people are looking to Dragon's Roar to save it and as well we should because we're the only ones who can. Your drug smuggling, my life of luxury, it'll all mean nothing if we let this woman prance around with all her power. New York and the guild are prime examples of why we should fight her. There's no doubt that you, Hekate, fucked up in a major way but that's all in the past now. We need to act on this now, whether or not it was Hekate's fault. I'm not backing down and neither should you, Jackie. But a thank you would be very nice this time around since we are fighting for the fate of the world."
"Alright then." Hekate turns her head to Bruce. "I thank you for your efforts in saving the world. You will be compensated for it afterwards, especially with the reward you have asked Grimm to give to you. Now you should all get situated her until you go to your next lead. Which would most likely be the Arctic Circle."

Isabel obviously didn't respond.
Isaac continued talking, ignoring the fact that Isabel couldn't respond saying. "We went to New York, and I learned that we had a card game made after us. Isn't that awesome, also Jackie is now the temporary guild leader until you wake up, sorry for not telling you sooner."

Isaac felt the slight temperature change come from the cocoon and said. "Sorry, but I can't tell what you're upset about. Let's change the subject, oh here's something funny, Justin got me the old 'is this your card' trick and we all laughed about it."

Krios rushes into the room with several servants and medics following him with a stretcher. He had several screens floating around him with an image of the cocoon. "She's running low on oxygen, the mana and ki was used up." The servants set her on the stretcher and start to swiftly push her out of the room. Hastily rushing towards the medical area of the castle. Only to disappear behind the door.

Bruce looked at her a bit oddly, he didn't ask for a reward from Grimm. Or was that part directed at Jackie? Couldn't hurt to ask "hold on, what was that part you said about a reward from Grimm?"
